The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has given the assurance that he will lead his fellow governors in the Southeast to engage the federal government in dialogue to handle the security situation in the zone. Mr Soludo said that an expeditious release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), would cushion the insecurity impasse in the zone. Mr Soludo said this during a one-day Peacebuilding and Security Dialogue, held in Awka on Saturday. The event was held in response to the deteriorating security challenges in the region. He endorsed the communique of a joint body of traditional rulers and clergy to declare Monday, April 4, as a Day of Prayer at all churches and places of prayers for forgiveness and reconciliation. He said Mr Kanu should be tried expeditiously, according to the law, and be convicted or freed instead of being kept under indefinite detention. The governor pointed out that justice delayed is justice denied. He said the state government would open rehabilitation centres for those who dropped their arms and set up a truth and reconciliation panel to investigate and placate those who lost their lives and property in the course of the violence. Mr Soludo said he is ready for total engagement with all parties, including the aggrieved, in the quest for peace. He called on all genuine agitators to drop their arms and leave the forest while warning criminal elements taking advantage of the situation to hold the people to withdraw or face the full force of the law. “We will engage with the good, the bad and the ugly. We will not discriminate against anybody. "We need more engagement than force in solving the problems, we need peace and security in our land to make progress, we can’t continue to cut our nose to spite our face. "All churches should announce the Monday prayers,” saying “they will also signal the end of Monday sit-at-home order that had lingered for months,” he said. In their 8-point Communique, the body of traditional rulers and clergy in the South-east called on the federal government to free Mr Kanu unconditionally to douse the tension in the region. The communique, which was read by Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha, condemned the Monday sit-at-home directive which started on August 9 last year, describing it as self-destructive and inimical to the progress of the region. The joint body regretted that even when the IPOB, under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu, had withdrawn the order since August 24, killings, abductions and burning of property have not stopped. The communique was signed by Mr Achebe; Archbishop Valerian Okeke of Onitsha Catholic Archdiocese; Lawrence Agbuzu, Chairman, Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council; Chibuzo Okpoko for Bishop and Archbishop and Solo Chukwulobelu for the Anambra government. Mr Achebe said that they have proposed meetings with the presidency on the problem of the South-east but had not received a response from the federal government. He said the agitation was caused by perceived injustice against the South-east and that only a constructive engagement would address the problems which were further hurting the people. The body called on all injured, aggrieved and victims of the insecurity in the South-east in the last three years to embrace the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of the Anambra government. According to the body, “we recognise that there is country-wide agitation for restructuring of inter-ethnic and inter-governmental relations in Nigeria, with a view to greater inclusiveness. We therefore, share the genuine concern over the political and economic marginalisation of the South-east Geo-Political Zone of Nigeria, a major plank of the agitation by the IPOB. We call for constructive and continuous dialogue by all parties as a more sustainable solution to overcoming the challenge and win the hearts and minds of the people. “We join our voices to the call for the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal Government in order to douse the current tensions across the Southeast. "We call on all criminal elements masquerading as working under the instruction of IPOB or ESN to cease and desist from further acts of violence and criminality or face “theism” placeable force of law and order. "We join our voices to the call for the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal Government in order to douse the current tensions across the Southeast. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/521581-try-nnamdi-kanu-expeditiously-or-release-him-soludo-tells-fg.html

Chief Imam of Apo Legislative Quarters Mosque, Shiekh Nuru Khalid, who was suspended over a sermon considered to be “anti-government” has broken his silence. Khalid, popularly known as Digital Imam, in a post written in Arabic, said “God is the most powerful. He gives (enthrones) and takes away power (dethrones) from whomever He wishes”. The Imam said this a few hours after reports that he had been suspended as the Chief Imam of Apo Legislative Quarters Mosque by the committee in charge of the worship centre. The message was similar to the content of the letter written by Sanusi Lamido II when he was dethroned as the Emir of Kano. The Imam also urged Nigerians not to relent in praying for Nigeria and its leaders. He said, “Oh God! the master of sovereignty, you give sovereignty to whom you please, and seize sovereignty from whom you please, you honour whom you please and you abase whom you please, all good is in your hands, indeed you have power over all things.” The mosque committee of Apo legislative quarters, Abuja, had suspended Khalid over a sermon he delivered on Friday, April 1. Khalid, who is also the Founder of Islamic Research and Da’awah Foundation, in the sermon, criticised the government for its failure to stop insecurity in the country. The Imam specifically told the electorate not to vote for any politician who cannot guarantee them the safety of lives and properties. While delivering the sermon, he said, “Nigerian masses should resort to only one term which is – protect our lives, we will come out to vote; let us be killed, we will not come out to vote, since it’s only elections that you people know. “We need prayers. We need supplication. This is very important at a time when Nigeria is facing a very serious challenge. Everything is not working well. People are dying. Our roads are not secured. “Most part of the country is not secured. The government is always telling us that they are doing their best. But we deserve more than that best as citizens because we want a secured Nigeria. "What you are telling us is that your concern is about the 2023 elections. And what I am telling the citizens is to send a message that we are going to vote under one condition. Nigerian masses should resort to only one term which is – protect our lives, we will come out to vote; let us be killed, we will not come out to vote, since it’s the only language you understand, we are going to speak it. “Our lives are important to us. We want to live. Our wealth and dignity are is important as well. You must do something to secure our lives and make our security workable. We cannot afford to be moving like this. People attacking our trains, killing our people as if there is no government in this country. said the imam was suspended over his sermon. The statement accused Khalid of “inciting public outrage”, saying his preachings negated the tenets of Islam. The statement read in part, “I am informing you that you have been suspended from leading prayers in the Apo Legislative Quarters Mosque from today being April 2nd, 2022 until further notice. “The decision was taken out of the inciting Friday sermon you delivered on April 1st, 2022; where you advised people not to vote come 2023 general elections unless politicians respond to some critical questions. “You should have advised them to vote out those that transgress the Almighty and breach people’s social contract as well as the state.” https://punchng.com/anti-govt-sermon-suspended-abuja-imam-breaks-silence-says-only-god-dethrones/

By Seun Opejobi Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, on Saturday, promised to make 20 million Nigerians millionaires, if elected President in 2023. Bello disclosed this while declaring his intentions to run for the Presidency in 2023. Bello disclosed that each of the 20 millionaires would empower five other Nigerians. The Presidential aspirant recalled how reports claimed that over 100 million Nigerians lived in extreme poverty during the administration of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He noted that the Buhari-led administration reduced the figure to 70 million. He said: “In 2018, with APC in the saddle that figure has dropped to about 87m people yet Nigeria overtook India as the poverty capital of the world. Just this month, Nigeria through the effort of the President relinquished the title back to India and brought down the figure to about 70m people. “It is therefore clear that our path to national prosperity lies in pulling millions of Nigeria out of poverty. "The Buhari administration has a target of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by the year 2030. A Yahaya Bello presidency will have an additional target of creating 20 million naira millionaires by the same year 2030 with the aim that each of them will empower five other citizens.”

“I am being led by God to restore the hope of millions of Nigerians, who have become hopeless in the Nigerian project," the female aspirant said. ByAgency Report April 1, 2022 3 min read Angela Johnson, an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Presidential Aspirant, says 2023 is the time for the country to have its first female president. Ms Johnson, who owns the UK-based Compassion Ministry, said this on Thursday at the party secretariat in Umuahia, when she formally declared to run for president. She said: “Our men, who were elected into leadership positions in the country, have failed us. “Although they were elected to serve but they end up being served by the people that elected them.” She expressed concern that the country had not enjoyed sustainable development since the return of democratic governance in 1999. “I am being led by God to restore the hope of millions of Nigerians, who have become hopeless in the Nigerian project. “God brought President Muhammadu Buhari and sustained him in office that I shall emerge,” she said. She assured the state chairman of APGA, Augustine Ehiemere, that he would be the first party chairman in the country to present the first female president of Nigeria. Ms Johnson said that she had been approached to accept the vice-presidential position by a leading political party. She said that she declined because she was sent by God to be the country’s next president. God spoke to me and I heard Him clearly. He sent me to be president, not vice president. “This is my time. This is the time for Nigerian women to produce the nation’s president. There is a burning desire in me and until Nigeria’s lost glory is restored, I cannot rest,” the presidential hopeful from Arochukwu in Abia, said. She said that her desire was to help humanity and that the mandate she was aspiring to get “is not ordinary but divine." Ms Johnson, who recalled with nostalgia the good days of the nation’s economic boom, said she was set to restore the vision and desire of the country’s founding fathers.

By Ochogwu Sunday Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi State has alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently writing petitions against him to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Umahi, who stated that his administration will conclude its tenure on May 29, 2023 despite the fights from the opposition party, his enemies tried using the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the courts to end his administration abruptly but failed. The governor stated this on Friday while reacting to the judgment of the Appeal Court in Enugu State which affirmed the judgment of the Ebonyi High court on his defection. DAILY POST recalls that the Ebonyi High Court had quashed a suit challenging the defection of the governor from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nov. 2020. According to the governor, “The enemies have tried using the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the courts but failed. “They are presently writing all forms of frivolous petitions to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). “We will, however, defeat them anywhere they go and will finish strongly.”

By John Owen Nwachukwu US ambassador to NATO, Jalianne Smith, has countered US President Joe Biden’s statement that Vladimir Putin can no longer remain as Russian President. The Biden government has continued on Sunday to clean up the President’s off-the-cuff remark he made in Warsaw on Saturday when he visited Ukrainian refugees in Poland saying Putin “cannot remain in power.” Smith, however, said the surprising comments by the US leader was a “principled human reaction,” made after he spent the day seeing the firsthand tragedies of war, when he visited with hundreds of Ukranian refugees,” the ambassador told CNN. “He went to the National Stadium in Warsaw and literally met with hundreds of Ukrainians. He heard their heroic stories as they were fleeing Ukraine in the wake of Russia’s brutal war in Ukraine. In the moment, I think that was a principled human reaction to the stories that he had heard that day.” Still, Smith said, the “US does not have a policy of regime change in Russia, full stop.” Her comments come hours after Secretary of State Antony Blinken also tried to downplay the President’s remarks while in Israel, saying, “I think the President, the White House, made the point last night that, quite simply, President Putin cannot be empowered to wage war or engage in aggression against Ukraine or anyone else.” Smith continued, “The full administration, the President included, believes that we cannot empower Putin right now to wage war in Ukraine or pursue these acts of aggression.”

By John Owen Nwachukwu Former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has admitted that he is afraid of the Governor of his home state, Nyesom Wike. Amaechi said during an interview with Channels Television when asked whether he would return to Rivers State to help his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC wrestle power from Wike 2023. After he was reminded that Wike has stamped his feet on the politics of Rivers and that charity begins at home, Amaechi said, “My eyes are here [in Abuja]. “This is my home now. Abuja is now my home and my governor is the minister of the FCT. I live and do business here.” Asked if he had any plans of going back to Rivers State, his local base, the Minister said, “When we reach the bridge we’ll cross it. For now, the FCT minister is my governor.” On whether he was afraid of Nyesom Wike, Amaechi said, “Yes. I’m very afraid of him. I’m very afraid. The interviewer probed further to know why the former Governor was afraid of his successor, to which Amechi replied, “Because I’m a ‘fear fear man’ now. What’s your problem? When we get to the bridge we’ll cross the bridge,” he said laughing.

Nwodosis:Even if snake/reptile attack any terrorist in the bush, who will broadcast the news to us? |
Victims of snakebites are flooding treatment centres across the country as the scorching heat forces the reptiles out of their holes into bushes, farms, roads and peoples homes in search of fresh air. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that states worst hit include Gombe, Plateau, Borno, Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa and Bauchi, with herders, farmers and rural dwellers mostly the victims. Our correspondents, who visited some snake treatment centres, found that most of the patients were on the floor with medics complaining that facilities were being overstretched. The situation of the victims appeared worsened by the sharp rise in the cost of the usually imported Anti-Snake Venom (ASV), following the high cost of foreign exchange. With a vial of the Echitab drugs – the brand of ASV that cures bites from snakes in Nigeria – going for more than 55,000, stakeholders have heightened calls on the Federal Government to support the Echitab Study Group in Nigeria to produce the vaccine locally to lower production cost. At Snakebites Treatment and Research Centre, Kaltungo in Gombe State, Dr Sulaiman Mohammed, its Principal Medical Officer, told NAN that about 300 patients had been admitted from January to date. READ ALSO: Years after: Victims of Bauchi snakebite cry out, with no help in sight; poverty bites He attributed the sharp rise in the number of cases to the hot weather. “The heat is at its peak; this period is usually the peak season of snakebites,” he told NAN. He said that some were treated and discharged while four deaths had been recorded . Giving a breakdown, he said that 69 patients were admitted in January while 79 came in February. According to him, more than 135 have been admitted in March with the figures increasing by the day. “The figures are usually high in March which is the onset of rainy season; on the average, we receive a daily average of nine victims or more.”

I deplore and condemn the barbaric killings and vicious barbarism that has been unleashed against a mainly defenceless and helpless civilian population in Ukraine. Yet the bitter truth is that all that President Volodymyr Zelensky has to do to stop the relentless slaughter of his people is to state clearly and categorically that Ukraine will NEVER join NATO, that Ukraine will NEVER allow foreign military bases on her soil and that Ukraine will MAINTAIN her neutrality like Sweden and Finland. He also has to allow the Russian-speaking people of Donetsk and Eastern Ukraine to exercise their right of self-determination and either form their own independent country or become part of Russia. Finally, he has to renounce Ukraine’s claim to Crimea and accept the fact that this strategically-placed seaport and region is now, and will always be, part and parcel of Russia. Instead of offering these guarantees and taking these steps, he is giving fine speeches to western Parliaments whilst his people are being slaughtered and butchered in their churches, offices, homes and houses and whilst his villages, towns and cities are being bombed, burnt, bombarded and utterly destroyed. I am constrained to ask, what type of man is this? Is he delusional or does he just pretend to be? I cannot possibly describe him as a hero. I say this because a hero HELPS his people, does what is in their BEST interest and does all that is REASONABLE and NECESSARY to guarantee their comfort, well-being, safety and security. A hero does NOT goad and provoke the Russian bear or spit in its face in a reckless and dangerous display of open defiance and contempt. A hero does that which is WISE and politically EXPEDIENT in order to secure and protect his people and to defend his nation’s borders. A hero does NOT allow neo-colonial foreigners and greedy imperialists, disciples and architects of the New World Order, bellicose and expansionist Western military alliances and perfidious and cowardly Western Governments to fool, cajole and push his people into fighting a war that they cannot possibly win or to indulge in an unnecessary conflict with a neighbour that has a massive and all-powerful conventional army and more nuclear weapons than any other nation in the world. A hero does not sacrifice his people on the altar of ego or as an offering to the Western powers. I blame Zelensky and his Western allies and friends for this unfolding tragedy, for every drop of Ukrainian blood that is being spilt and for the untold hardship and suffering that the great people of Ukraine are being subjected to. The only heroes here are the Ukrainian people themselves who have been saddled with an irresponsible, weak, egotistical, blind, reckless, stubborn and vainglorious President that cannot differentiate between being an actor/comedian on the stage and being the President of a great and noble nation of 40 million people who are depending on him to keep them safe and who look up to him to fight for their collective interest. Despite all the western propaganda, in this respect, Zelensky has failed woefully and miserably because in the end of the day Ukraine will be brought to her knees and utterly crushed, shattered and broken. All this could have been avoided if her President had displayed a little humility and restraint from the outset and if he had he not opted to dance to the tune of Joe Biden, Boris Johnson, Emmanuel Macron and all his other western friends who later deserted him. What a shame! Never trust a man or woman that urges you to go into a war or to keep fighting a war that you cannot possibly win. Trust only those that seek the path of peace and that urge you to make reasonable compromises and necessary concessions. Can someone kindly whisper this wise counsel into the tiny ears of Volodymyr Zelensky who appears to have fallen in love with the applause and praises of the West and who refuses to do that which needs to be done to save his people from untold hardship and suffering? CONCLUDED. (The author of this piece is Chief Femi Fani-Kayode. He is a former Minister of Aviation and the Sadaukin Shinkafi

HELSINKI — Four U.S. Marines were killed when their Osprey aircraft crashed in a Norwegian town in the Arctic Circle during a NATO exercise unrelated to the Ukraine war, authorities said Saturday. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere tweeted that they died in the crash on Friday night. The cause was under investigation, but Norwegian police reported bad weather in the area. The Marines, assigned to 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, II Marine Expeditionary Force, were taking part in a NATO exercise called Cold Response. The U.S. says the identities of the Marines wouldn't be immediately provided in keeping with U.S. Defense Department policy of notifying relatives. The aircraft was an MV-22B Osprey. It "had a crew of four and was out on a training mission in Nordland County" in northern Norway, the country's armed forces said in a statement. It was on its way north to Bodoe, where it was scheduled to land just before 6 p.m. Friday. The Osprey crashed in Graetaedalen in Beiarn, south of Bodoe. Police said a search and rescue mission was launched immediately. At 1:30 a.m. Saturday, the police arrived at the scene and confirmed that the crew of four had died. The Cold Response drill includes around 30,000 troops, 220 aircraft and 50 vessels from 27 countries. Non-NATO members Finland and Sweden are also participating. The exercises began on March 14 and end on April 1. No cause was given for the crash, but the Norwegian armed forces said that Cold Response "will carry on as planned, with the measures we have to take due to the weather." A Norwegian rescue helicopter spotted the crash site late Friday and local Red Cross crews were assigned to assist police on the ground, Norwegian media said. Norwegian newspaper VG said Red Cross members drove close to the crash site with scooters and marked the trail with GPS for police in what they described as extremely difficult weather conditions early Saturday. "It was a special night, it was a real storm. There were five of us driving towards the scene of the accident. There was one meter of visibility, snow and storm in the mountains, " Red Cross team leader Oerjan Kristensen told VG. "I guess it was a wind gust of 30-40 meters per second. When it blows like that, it is difficult to stand upright." Kristensen added that the rescue operation is being hampered by the risk of landslides in the mountains, and the remoteness of the crash site. Police launched an investigation into the crash and accident commission members and police representatives were due to arrive at the crash site on Saturday. "The weather is very bad in the area to complete work at the scene, but police will take it up again as soon as the weather conditions allow it," operations manager Ivar Bo Nilsson from the Norland police district told reporters. Lt. Gen. Yngve Odlo, head of the Norwegian Armed Forces' operational headquarters, said that Cold Response would continue despite the crash. "Right now there is full focus on ending the rescue operation, taking care of the people and then there will be a normal procedure with causation," Odlo was quoted as saying by Norwegian public broadcaster NRK. The first Cold Response exercise was held in 2006, and the drills are conducted every two years. They take place in southeastern, central and northern Norway. https://www.npr.org/2022/03/19/1087713293/us-troops-dead-osprey-crash-marines-norway

By Nsikak Nseyen The Police Command in Borno State has arrested a suspect who specialised in defrauding his victims by pretending to be a spirit with powers to make them wealthy. The Commissioner of Police (CP), Abdu Umar, on Friday, said that nemesis caught up with the suspect, a member of a three-man gang. Umar said that the mode of operation of the gang was to deceive their victim into believing that they were in communication with a spirit who could assist them in making wealth. He said that the suspect and his accomplices, who are at large, contacted one Bukar Muhammed and deceived him into believing that they could assist him to be rich. "They manipulated and directed him to go and drop his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card and the pin number at a certain location. “The victim complied and the suspects withdrew the sum of N22 million from his account domiciled at TAJ Bank Plc,” Umar said. The CP said that in the course of investigation, the suspect was trailed and arrested in February, adding that he later confessed to the crime and other similar offences. Umar added that efforts to arrest the two other accomplices has been intensified.

By John Owen Nwachukw The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has come under scrutiny over its alleged failure to arrest former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, wondered why Tinubu has been allowed to move freely despite alleged corruption cases against him while Willie Obiano, who just finished his eight years tenure as the Governor of Anambra State on Thursday was arrested immediately. As DAILY POST reported, Obiano was arrested at the Lagos International Airport on Thursday a few hours after he officially handed over to Prof. Charles Soludo and was heading out of the country. Speaking with BBC Pidgin, the Public Relations Officer of EFCC Wilson Uwajaren, said Obiano had been on the watchlist of the Commission prior to the transition on Thursday. And Omokri is surprised that the EFCC is not after Tinubu, who served as Lagos State Governor for eight years. “Compared to Bola Tinubu, Obiano is a saint. Compared to Oluremi Tinubu, Ebele is a choir mistress,” the former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan tweeted. “Why has EFCC left Bola Tinubu, with his humongous corruption, and gone after Obiano? “Nigerians let us not allow ourselves be distracted by this drama! We need equity!”

All believers in Christ are commanded by the God of heaven, in Revelation 18:4-5, that they should come out of this Modern Babylon, by refusing to take part in any of her ungodly festivities, such as Easter, Christmas, Valentine, New year celebrations, Cross-over night, et cetera. |
MODERN Babylon, also known in Revelation 17:5, as Mystery, Babylon the great, the Mother of harlots and abominations of the earth, inherited all her ungodly festivities, from Ancient Babylon, one of which is Easter festivity. Easter is a Chaldean word, pronounced as ISHTAR. It is also called Ashtaroth. It is a goddess known as the queen of heaven. And so, all the cakes made during Easter festival, are made to the queen of heaven, as written in Jeremiah 7:18-20. The anger and fury of God was poured upon the children of Israel, who made cakes unto this queen of heaven. Easter (Ishtar) or Ashtaroth had been the object of worship in Ancient Babylon before Christ was born. The worship of Ashtaroth/Easter by children of Israel, also provoked the anger of God, as written in Judges 2:13-14: “And they forsook the Lord and worshipped Baal and Asharoth. And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel and He delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.” Even though, the word Easter is found in Acts 12:3, yet it has nothing to do with the Christian faith, neither is it a Christian name. The pagans were celebrating Easter, when King Herod, an ungodly king, apprehended Peter and kept him in prison, intending that after their Easter festival, he would bring Peter out to the people. The Jews’ Passover, the days of unleavened bread, which Moses commanded all the Jews to observe yearly, also were being observed during this pagan festive season. But the church, as at that time, was under serious persecution by the Jews and King Herod, during which the king killed James the brother of John, the disciples of Jesus. The people of God do err, not knowing the scripture, because there is no record in the Scripture, that Jesus rose from the sepulcher on “Easter” day. The only record, that we have in the scripture, is that Jesus rose on the first day of week – Mark 16:2. And this day is known in Revelation 1:10, as The Lord’s Day, a day, when all believers in Christ are expected to observe and worship the Risen Christ. And it should not be a day for reveling, banqueting or feastings, when believers in Christ will sit down to eat, drink and dance, under the guise of celebrating the resurrection of Christ. This is idolatry, against which believers in Christ are warned, by the Spirit of God in 1 Corithians 10:7: “Neither be ye idolaters as were some of them: as it is written. The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” All believers in Christ are commanded by the God of heaven, in Revelation 18:4-5, that they should come out of this Modern Babylon, by refusing to take part in any of her ungodly festivities, such as Easter, Christmas, Valentine, New year celebrations, Cross-over night, et cetera. By John Owen Nwachukwu President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has hit out at NATO nations, saying they lack the courage to come for his country under Russian invasion. Addressing a press briefing on Saturday, Zelensky said NATO is reluctant to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader said the West need to be more involved in discussions and even provide their own security guarantees to his country. He said NATO member nations “lack the courage to come together for Ukraine” and that there is “no agreed position,” CNN reports. The President further stated that Ukraine is working tirelessly to see that the ongoing war comes to an end, and is ready to start the process. "Our diplomats are working on the details of the agenda of the possible meeting of Ukrainian and Russian delegations,” he said. “I would like this to happen. So we can actually, not just on words, start the process of settlement, peace and the end of the war.” “This is how the end to war starts in a civilized world,” he said. The Ukrainian president said he was hoping diplomacy could bring peace, saying there was “a signal” coming from the Russian side about being ready to negotiate, although he gave no details on what this signal was.

Sunday Aborisade, Abuja A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, representing Osun West Senatorial District, in the National Assembly, Senator Adelere Oriolowo, has described as mere rumours, the alleged presidential ambition of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo. He said the only presidential aspirant known in the APC political family in the South-West geopolitical zone remained the former governor of Lagos, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Oriolowo, who spoke with journalists in Abuja on Friday also debunked insinuations that Tinubu was too old or unhealthy to lead Nigeria as President in 2003. Rather, the Senator argued that the national leader of the APC was not only healthy but has high mental alertness to lead Nigeria into a greater, well developed nation. Asked if the alleged presidential ambition of Osinbajo, would not frustrate that of Tinubu, the Osun West Senator dismissed the Vice President’s bid as mere speculations and rumours. Oriolowo said, “I don’t act on rumours. The alleged presidential ambition of Yemi Osinbajo remained a rumour to everyone of us in the South-West APC. “He has not told anyone that he wanted to contest and there is nothing yet to suggest that he would contest. Let us leave it at a rumour stage.” He said Tinubu would definitely contest the presidential election next year adding that the clamour for the Igbo presidency in certain quarters would not stop his bid. He said, “What I know is that the presidency has been zoned to the South. By that, any part of the region could produce the candidate. “My leader that is contesting. He is capable and Nigeria would have a breakthrough especially if he replicate all what he did in Lagos, in other parts of the country. What is happening now is about his capacity. “As far as I know, he is healthy. I visited him in London during his medical trip for knee surgery even younger person could also have such challenge. “There is no one on Earth that doesn’t have his own challenges in terms of health. However, if you are talking of age, that is no barrier at all. “He has functional brain and healthy body to perform his functions effectively. His health has not deteriorated to the extent that he would not be able to carry out state functions effectively.” Oriolowo assured Nigerians that the March 26 convention of the APC would hold successfully despite the seeming internal crisis threatening the exercise. The Senator said, “The past postponements of the convention will make it perfect whenever it was invariably held. “It is not how far but how well. When you want to do something and you discovered that the timing would create more problems than solving it, definitely it has to be postponed. There is no problem with the March 26 convention date.” Oriolowo expressed great confidence that the Osun APC governorship primary crisis would soon be resolved. He said, “I think the crisis is an internal affairs of the party and I think it is never late . it is not over until it is over. “I am sure that people are running round to solve the problems especially when a member of the party has declared that there is a division in the party at the state level. “Many of us are of the opinion that it has to be solved and we are running round to make sure that it is solved . I am assuring you that it would be resolved. “Any party which has unresolved internal crisis usually perform woefully in elections. I can cite the case of Zamfara State, Rivers, Edo, and Oyo State among others. “That is why I am calling on all the gladiators and those concerned to think and prevent the escalations of the crisis.” Oriolowo said it was only when political parties embrace internal democracy that crisis would be a thing of the past because party machineries would be empowered to deal with all situations. He said, “We have to separate the running of the parties from that of the government. The governor or president has to be in charge of governance. The party has to be run by the executives of the party. “The Chairman of the party must be given the responsibility to run the affairs of the party. When there is a crisis within the party, the leadership of the party should be allowed to resolve it.”

By Don Silas An Independent Investigation Panel, on Friday, ordered retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, the Chairman, National Drug Laws Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), to produce suspended DCP, Abba Kyari, on March 22, 2022. The panel also ordered the new Commandant of the IGP-IRT, Tunde Dirsu, to do the needful to make sure that Kyari is produced before the panel on the aforesaid date. The panel is investigating allegations of human rights violations by the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other Units of the Nigeria Police. Mr John Martins, representing the Chairman of the panel, retired Justice Suleiman Galadima, explained that the presence of Kyari before the panel was necessary owing to the fact that a petitioner’s witness had earlier mentioned him. He said, “The witness testified that Kyari allegedly promised to reach out to him in respect of the missing persons and to date, nothing was heard about them. “The above orders are made in respect of three persons who were allegedly arrested and detained by the IGP-IRT detention facility. ”The whereabouts of Yakubu Danjuma, Ibrahim Daniel and Choji Dung are still unknown.” The order of the panel followed information from Halilu Adamu, the panel’s counsel, that Kyari was in the custody of the NDLEA. James Idachaba, the Police Counsel, told the panel that the Police could no longer produce Kyari because he was no longer in Police custody, having been suspended. NAN reports that the panel had, on March 8, 2022, ordered the Office of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to unfailingly produce the aforementioned three victims before it.
