religion and politics do not mix. Moreover we dont have a theocratic system of govt. |
Henry120: Thanks to your piece, I can now say that I'm now more educated than I was before I logged into nairaland this morning. The president might not have met people's high expectations in many areas, but as it regards to deepening our democracy and growing our electoral process, I'd score the president 10/10. This is what the campaigners who yap about the president being clueless have failed to realise.you'll soon find out its selection before election. |
you bought a day old processed gari (whitish) go for the brownish type. |
Dede1: @OPThe north before the amalgamation had the west african frontiers that was created by lugard to ward off the french expanding to the coast. The middle beltans were of 90% of the force cos of thier education and the hausas 10% . most policies inherited from the colonial govt were mostly enforced by lugard through the colonial office. so their believe of superiority over other nigerians were brought forward since then till now. My major concern is the enmity in the south with the vast knowledge and intelligence they are still in the 1920s politically. |

they are descendants of lord lugard. west african frontier force to royal nigerian army to nigerian army. he was the northern gov. |

Prof Corruption: Do you have problem with English comprehension? "Well for you is virtuos" is easy enough to understand. Constitution is not a guide to our conduct. It's the highest law of the land. She should be punished appropriately for flouting the rules.thou grammarian, if its the law, what dos the stands for in the land? she has a right as a just citizen to refuse an immoral law (constitution). if the constitution was found to be misguiding you can refute it and its not binding on such citizen. i dont give a damn. (not guilty of the charge) |
Prof Corruption: Well for you is virtuous, the law sees it as a punishable crime. I believe she should be arrested and possibly jailed for incompetence and unwarranted disrespect for constituted authority.if you agree her act was virtuos, then she can argue that the constitution is immoral, since its a guide to our conduct. |
Prof Corruption: Why can't Iweala go and state the same reasons you have itemized here?its unconstitutional not to implement that aspect of the budget but virtuos to act as such. still putting the report (defence) together |
our businessmen are mostly politically made, very few can venture into international biz. its a pity, in the next 10 years the south africans are likely to dominate most industries. |
Cyberknight: All the brouhaha over private jets owned by church leaders is, in my opinion, misplaced. Most of these churches are actually private companies run as businesses. And if the board of directors of a business decide to use the company's profits to buy the MD/CEO a jet, they are within their rights. Any person who doesn't like it should cease contributing to that particular church company's profits by ending his attendance at its Sunday seminars and other gatherings, or raise the issue at shareholders meetings.churches are considered charity organisations, if so you cant use the fund at will. |
macjive01: thats it, i believe this is the part still on ground, here is the other elevated section |
tomakint: Definitely it's a YES from me, real men of God act as seers for a country (the Bible gave many instances in the book of Kings)! They sound the note of warning and if heeded can lead to economic prosperity, a typical example in our contemporary time was the story of Paul (now David) Yonggi Cho from South Korea who through prayers and fastings changed the economic status of the country for better! I confirmed from few men of God while listening to their sermons. So, it's possible in Nigeria!most politicians are xtians and are willing to make progress. they pray over issues and start of proceedings in their assembly, they have the same mind set for progress. |
its successful in london but failed in california. park your bike at bustops. -- what of those guys? (why did you put it there) |
since you cant reason with them, you cant change a thing. |
that is not the problem. in old times, when they wish to ruin a rich man they present him with a white elephant/ not buying, but maintenance. want to blink182: Wether you people talk or not, the man is too busy to listen. You people can scream all you want while he globe trots in style. |

Democracy in Africa failed on arrival, its a fairy system, we cant understand it till you go to the cradle itself. What The propounders of the system wrote and how it evolved. |
OBAFEMI AWOLOWO "The whole thing is ludicrous! God is everywhere; and His ever-ready responsiveness to our supplications is not confined to any Church or place. To be sure, it is a very good thing indeed for the Churches, the Mosques, and other religious gatherings, to pray, from time to time, for the success of the Government of the day, if they are convinced that its plans and programmes are good and promotive of the welfare and happiness of the people. But it would be wrong, and of course futile, for them to pray, as they did in recent years, for the success of a manifestly satanic administration. For the reformation of such a government, they certainly must pray. By participating in State Ceremonies, and getting too much involved in official functions, some religious leaders find it difficult to speak out with freedom, forthrightness, and courage, in condemnation of what they know to be evil in the doings of the State." |
papabaks: This is a job well done guys...if we clamour too much on this believe, we'll achieve nothing. The problem is the people, how morally and ethical are these people? Do they understand the due process of law? Do they understand the punishment meted on contravening the law? How independent are the police, judiciary and the citizens? How often do they interact? Is there any complaint office for the citizen? who checks the police? if we can clarify these facts i believe state policing can be achieved in. nigeria |
