Music/RadioRe: Hit Songs You Don't Like by kushe: 8:20am On Jun 20, 2010
hating sick tunes is sometimes a bandwagon thingy [i.e trying to go against the tide] .top 40 stations dont put any song on instant or automatic replay, the listeners get a teaser and bombard this stations with requests and download the songs on i tunes, the r&d of big retail stores get the word on the street and give u a soundtrack to ur shopping experience, psychologically prompting you to buy.

i hate lady gaga but there is no escaping her this summer in every single shop on oxford street especially her dance versions.
put plugs in ur ears if u hate b.o.b and jason derulo, iyaz and justin bieber cos there's no escaping them this summer.

but how can anyone hate that gyptian and nicki minaj tune.whaaaaaat.sick a billion times over.
if u hate tuface please go listen to ''only me''
i heard a song a few weeks ago in naija and i couldnt get it out of my head ,i didnt know the artist and so i did some research and lo and behold his name is wizkid and the tune ''holla at ur boy'' .now that is really sick.

@rhymz

a schizophrenic about to cut himself into a million pieces was quickly hurled into an accident and emergency by kind samaritans and had the ff conversation with the doctor

DR: why are you hurting yourself

PATIENT:cos he told me i could hav the best tatoo ever

DR:so who is he?

PATIENT:he is the minister of special duties

DR: minister huh so where exactly is this minister

PATIENT: right next to me

DR:what is he doing and how come i cant see him?

PATIENT:we are having an intellectual discuss that average joes like you couldn't possibly contribute to

DR:so what was the last thing he said to you

PATIENT: that you are insane and need help

DR: uuuuumm interesting !!!

so rhymz, let us assume i am the doctor and you are the patient, what am i to do having reconfirmed the severity of your retardation, being well advanced in years only to churn out infantile c.rap.i feel so much empathy for you ,especially as you struggled to prove to me you are educated by using ''plenty'' unrelated words.education my dear is an ever flowing fountain that refreshes the mind and senses, you however, if it ever flowed in the first place currently display an epileptic supply kinda synonymous with your environment that further retards you.

me discussing politics or the economy with you is akin to the above doctor entering into an arguement with a patient he has aptly diagnosed.
you cannot comprehend simple stuff,so how can you engage me in a duel?? that my friend is giving your brain a billion times the stress it would normall try to process,so why kill what was already operating at snail speed [i.e your mental faculties]

i know you hav a gazillion issues, but must you commit suicidehuh

@it gurlie

i understand your situation but dont mortgage your happiness for anything.i hav always been attracted to really pretty girls with banging bodies and i was always somehow quite lucky i got them but somehow most of dem attractions just died natural deaths.

however my attention span for simple girls who brought me from down from my high horse never seemed to wane.a particular one started out as my relationship analyst and could be quite frank, sarcastic and she didnt send me one bit and could finish me in ways all this other chicks wouldnt have dared.she wasnt as pretty as none of them but i terribly enjoyed her company and she would hav been a dream wife.

life aint fair, but choose your path and pray you make the right choice.the guys that beat their wives black and blue must have been dream mates at some point in the past,so wetin i for yannnnnnnn undecided

this BOY is 9,only 9 and its too late to wish him silicon valley dreams cos he has silicon valley dying for him to celebrate just a few more birthdays before he is whisked away.a few people that want him include oracle , google ,HP r&d, cisco and prolly the CIA and NASA.

the thing though is that the boy is polish[i.e is a citizen of poland] and has a single mother mum who already is being warned that sooner than she expects she would be losing her son to the west.

he looks like a girl but sounds very much like a boy.

mba be like water for india, and after that these guys still apply to ivy league business grad schools in the uk and the states for another shot at a globally recognised mba.so if you ever attend a good business school for an mba,ask the indians[ cos i bet you they would collectively outnumber every other nationality except maybe in yankee] where they are coming from educationwise and u go fear fear.

u wey naa to strike and kill una sef in the name of cult una sabi con come nairaland dey talk unresearched bull.sh.it. i apologise to all the so called intellectuals over here, unfortunately i pride myself in some ivy league education but bone story and forget talk talk,we are in no way at par with these people called indians and you can accuse me of having a complex but truth is truth, you sabi book till you  jam person wey rubbish you.

forgive me,but an indian with a high school diploma has almost if not better IT proficiency than a nigerian IT graduate if there is any such thing.
BusinessRe: Cost Of Living In Lagos, Nigeria by kushe: 12:53pm On May 08, 2010
you lot need to get a proper education and thank God at least for the local content policies of the nigerian government cos if the likes of shell, chevron, mtn and now zain had their way, even their dispatch wey dey ride okada do in runs for come from their country of origin.

no 2,it is this indian guy that is being cheated.how much is 24k in the first place??but coming from a population of over a billion with an emphasis on education and particularly IT,i guess he should thank his stars and get on the next plane, cos if he dont the next amtab will withouut noooo apologies and plenty gyrating of the head on the axis of the neck

and for those of you who feel more valuable than an indian,in my own experience they are multiple times more value for money per capita than any nationality i have interracted with including americans and britons wey no dey gree go school.

when i was younger,i would have called her names too but wisdom has taught me to watch what i say especially about the plight of others.
if we are in nice situations,i think we should just thank God for his mercies and help this girl out with some good and sincere advice.

research has shown that most abuse and especially the ones that affect our personalities late into adulthood stem from the family.
i have heard of a chick who endured incest from her father and even had to abort a baby in the process.now tell me how that kind girl wan normal.

i believe the story cos humans can be wicked and especially nigerians and rather than crucify the poster or his chick,i would advice the girl go to one of dem naija churches and tell an elder or a pastor.this is a naija problem and keep the metropolitan police out for your own sake.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Why Hate The Truth - Fg Protests Bbc Documentary On Lagos by kushe: 9:49pm On Apr 28, 2010
@ kobojunkie

in 2002 while trying to attend a nigerian wedding in milwaukee,an accident happened on the freeway that made it totally impassable.i was with my uncle[a doctor] and his kids and the only options were to either go back to his house or pass through the inner city and make it to the wedding.

what i saw ,no documentary could prepare me for it.it was so heart rendering that my little cousins about 12 and 14 then burst into uncontrollable wailing.that wasn't the worst i had seen life,at least i went to boarding school in a federal government college, and we decongested our digestive systems via a pit latrine with flies the size of crickets constantly buzzing, and once nepa struck we were destined to match sh.it

i had lived in london for a bit and i felt brixton, hackney or peckham were the worst u could see in the west, but that day i saw hell in milwaukee.3 years before katrina,it felt like a hurricane had swept through the city and 7 years before the meltdown it felt like half the properties were being foreclosed.the poverty was palpable and i could almost swear i was dreaming, how could this be america?i would never forget how several buildings had planks across empty windows that had no panes,it looked like hitler's army had just plundered the entire town and there were no cornershops, macdonalds or a seven eleven,it was unbelievable especially cos my cousins were born in that city and had lived there all their lives but being kids of an md,they lived on the nice part of town.

to cut the long story, there is a slum in every city.the people that built dubai's amazing skyline live in very well documented slums.the london underground smells awful on fridays and so does the one in paris.i got into a lift in walthamstow once and the guy that left before i got in had emptied his entire bladder.it was like 10 gallons of urine.abeggggggg the documentary was on point jooooooo.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Why Hate The Truth - Fg Protests Bbc Documentary On Lagos by kushe: 9:54am On Apr 28, 2010
i always thought nairaland was the confluence of great nigerian minds scattered both home and abroad but after reading a lot of the opinions here i feel rather sad for my generation.i hav always loved history and taken interest in how people lived centuries ago and in the decades gone by but unfortunately most of my thirst can only be satisfied by western media and we owe them a whole lot.

my search led me to channels like discovery, history channel and recently bbc knowledge.bombarding my mind with easy to digest information through the documentary format, the welcome to lagos documentary was just another 30 min slot but this time more interesting cos i could relate to the scenery.i hav always known the landfill at ojota but who could guess all that activity surrounded the site. THE DOCUMENTARY WAS BRILLIANT IN MY OPINION

and the government officials should get an education and stop being prehistoric beings in an age where information is instant and widely accessibe.
a few days ago anna coren of cnn international the hong kong bureau, was on top of a pile of trash prolly worse than the ojota one and in their case thousands lived in the dump ,i cant remember clearly but i think it was manila,a fantastic tourist destination and an asian tiger.

who is documenting every day life for posterity in nigeria.where are our national archives and what do they contain?you can watch tonnes of footage on the first and second world wars but how much of the biafran war do we have preserved on tape.how much of our lives post independence has been documented with an accompanying well informed narrative.?

would we ever remember how ikorodu road looked before brt,or how victoria island ended at aboyade cole before the advent of big business.what did banana island loook like 10 years ago,do they still hav rubber at ikenne, what happened to the groundnut pyramids and our palm oil industries?how did ilupeju and oregun industrial estates look like when industries still existed?what does it feel like to live in near zero conditions in jos and near frying conditions in maiduguri?our children may never ever know.

i am sure like me,most of the dialogue in this documentary was nostalgic and brought back the memories of home but show it to the new breed of ajebutter nigerian child and they would deny that being nigeria.our education and new found affluence usually deadens us to our environment that someone once brought up in agege talks about seldomnly having to cross  the bridge like people that live on the mainland are infested with fleas.

a good documentary on the emergence of the lekki axis would silence such fools as they congregate in their multitudes basking in pitiful ignorane and cocooning their families from knowing where we hav come from as a people.
HealthRe: Dagrin And The State Of Healthcare In Nigeria by kushe: 7:06am On Apr 27, 2010
we all prolly watch too much er and gray's anatomy and are blaming the hospitals and whoever we can get our fingers to point at.
when good wants to happen in a person's life,it is amazing how all the factors just seem to align and then people call itgoodluck.
on the flipside, when bad wan happen,it is also very amazing how everything just works to achieve that evil and we call it badluck.

police corruption, drink driving, errors in judgment, buildings commissioned to treat only malaria and typhoid and yet called hospitals, inaccessibility of police to ambulance despite a 5 min proximity to luth, emergency registration procedure at luth, inoperational diagnostic aids, wrong diagnosis and eventually death.the day person go die, talk all the english you want and that person go go.

the bible calls it an appointment. ''FOR IT IS APPOINTED UNTO MAN,ONCE TO DIE AND AFTER THAT THE JUDGMENT''

every appointment has a date, venue and time and so does death.some things are beyond us and if you doubt me go and watch a documentary on princess diana's last day.nothing for save am cos it was just game over.

lets live so we can truly be missed and not merely eulogised when we go.i am 32 and dagrin's death is prolly the most painful i hav ever felt.
when my granny died she was 89 and we were prepared cos it was only a matter of days.in dagrin's case my pain is how his genius came together, from the sick sooosick beats,to the witty use of yoruba and bro was a poet ,making sense and rhyming in yoruba.and the delivery was banging.look at the eclectic mix in kondo, from auto tune to mid tempo and guy was on point.

we thought hip hop died that march night when biggie passed but it has somehow reincarnated in various forms from dmx to nelly, jeezy to lil wayne and now drake.dagrin will be back someday, maybe the guy is 14 now someplace in agege or mushin.

eyin omo ogun, ema konju ti wan padaboo wa rep to the fullest.
Music/RadioRe: Da Grin - 'If I Die' (released Just Before He Died) by kushe: 5:28pm On Apr 26, 2010
IT IS WRITTEN

do people really sense they are about to die?i aint  no pro in the metaphysical but in dagrin's case i say prolly not.

listen to the record carefully and you would realize this was no serious record.he was just vibin on a beat and prolly never intended for you and i to hear this song.he sounded tipsy, his timing was off and at the beginning his rhyming waint ill unlike his instantly recognisable genius.

maybe he was experiencing an out of the body experience as he sang but trust me this was a very free freestyle,no message intended.

as fate would hav  it,he actually died and now all the theories.we live,we die,be we great or small.dagrin was small but mighty and as is usually the case they leave with a bang and in this case an unsolved mystery.

THE BUSINESS OF CELEBRITY DEATH

in business you can cash in on a celebrity's demise only if he or she was an icon.dagrin till before his death would hav been considered too young to be considered a legend but then along came the grim reaper bestowing on him what a dozen award shows had no power to. THE STATUS OF A LEGEND.

whoever released ''if i die'' did an absolutely brilliant thing and has only exploded his persona turning him into an enigma of some sort.now his management shouldn't allow profiteering from all quarters but should help the public to mourn him by organizing some crazy dagrin themed events, concerts, establish a  foundation promoting safe driving in conjuction with the frsc etc. they should give us befitting memorabilia, his favourite t shirt, grafitti trainers, his best photographed poses etc

dagrin has most likely sold more cds after his accident than the entire length of his spotlight fame but to whose advantage.i am sorry i doubt if his parents would be getting any check and neither would edlyne, but trust me the guy pirating his cd in alaba took a stash to the bank today and will continue in the days to come.

this type of occurence is uncommon and so people usually respond too slowly and i guess edlyne as a record label was just too dazed to make a statement or take a sound business decision and in the process they hav lost millions unfortunately.
Music/RadioRe: Da Grin - 'If I Die' (released Just Before He Died) by kushe: 4:40pm On Apr 26, 2010
i want to attempt to put things in perspective for the myriad thoughts and ideas out there

i love dagrin and miss him eventhough we are almost a decade apart but the truth must be told.
why blame dagrin for his own death when you never at 22 experienced what he encountered, poverty, talent, rejection,
persistence, opportunity, instant success, cross over appeal, money, booze, women, drugs, foreign travels, love by even full blown butters etc

i know folks 10 years older who just got that dream job and went bunkers on life, swearing never to get married and
make every sad experience in their past pay for denying them of all their fantasies.there are a billion dagrins out there,
they are just not destined to go down that route cos before we were conceived, ''IT WAS WRITTEN''

why blame the doctors, most of whom loved dagrin just as much as you and i and fought valiantly to save his life.ignorance is bliss
cos most of you think all you need to be is a celebrity and then when u cough you get placed in an ambulance jet to england, india or south africa.
it would hav still taken 5 days if not more for dagrin to be airlifted even if there was the willingness and these are the reasons why.

3am   gboooooooos[alakara police station, sleeping on duty policemen are awakened by sudden  bang and shattering of glass]

3.20  dagrin is finally freed from the wreckage, time of impact was 20 mins ago and he has beeen unconsscious cos of some haemorrhage either in or outside the dura mata[a membrane like covering for the brain] and if he was drunk, remember alcohol is a sedative and the mildest form of anesthesia

3.45 t&s advice the policemen who brought him to take him to luth[i havent read that any first aid was given him at this point] ,clock is ticking.

4.30 police realize after phonecall to last dialled no that this guy is a celebrity and call the station to make sure no one touches his car, afterall money fit dey inside, celebrity no dey waka without kudi for awon boys[they remove his plate numbers]

5 am a very tired  house officer recognises dagrin after the nurses who see tonnes die yearly simply waved him aside claiming there was no bed.he was bumping kondo just the day before and starts yelling to get things moving but you cant sudddenly jolt a dead system back to live.dagrin prolly
got first medication 2 hours after impact.and in medicine time is of the essence and that is why an accident is called an emergency.

as dagrin bled,a thousand and one things started to happen in his body, some reversible, others not so depending on what part of the brain, its stem or the spinal cord was damaged.whether you are in new york, istanbul, adelaide or okitipupa, the first moments after and what help you receive determine if you live, die or suffer irreparable damage.

i am extremely new here and i doubt my occasional talkless of regular visits but to the anti popular pastor pundits.what if some of us love our pastors and their mammoth ministries.what if we enjoy being fleeced monthly in the way of tithes.what if we still have a relationship with God despite the false doctrine tags of our senior pastors.what if salvation was a very simple solution to a complex problem only for the devil to step into our systems thereby creating sects and religious bodies.

how do u treat your spouse, the elderly, the less privileged, your kids, fellow commuters in traffic, the tired but working checkout lady at tesco's.christians can be terrible individually even the holiest of the holy ones and yet they pull others down.remove the small thing in your eye before you even notice your neighbor own.

Enigma:
Why don't you tell us and also tell us what point you are trying to make?
@enigma,the biritish brought us the anglican communion and christianity in general but church attendance on the british isles until recently was at an all time low.rather than criticize mega churches maybe we ought to pray for God to effectively utilize them in making him famous.i was at a morris cerrulo crusade tagged mission to london in 93 and a bunch of wheelchair bound chaps picketed the event with placards reading rights not miracles.i doubt if such hostility still persists after nearly 20 years of the likes of kicc in london.

england is cold towards the pentecostal movement but things are changing.pastor osgood's calling was to hav a church with 5000 members and his phone no even had 5000 in it and see what God is doing through him in london.i believe in the mega church as even the most conservative of churches back home i.e deeper life started out like a cell but we all know the story and it happened in less than a decade.
Because any person with sound Christian doctrine can see that these folks often make a mockery of Christianity with their false doctrines driven by the fact that the god of these fellows is their belly. We don't like them misrepresenting our faith. As just one example maybe you should search the Net on how your Paula White uses Psalm 68:19 as an attempt to fleece the flock into committing themselves to giving $68.19 per month to her partners in crime.

bros, only God sabi who dey serve am oooo so i advice you make judgment his call.only last year a very conservative tv evangelist came out of the closet after his atrocities started surfacing.i only wish we understood the significance of the blood of jesus and how our perceived right standing before him is like filthy rags.who are you to judge,is it not christ that died?
Perhaps somebody who chooses to stop attending KICC is actually using God-given intellect and has awakened to biblical truths and sound doctrine?

hmmmmmm, are you saying there is something wrong with the message at kicc?
Johnny just come to thread insulting people who had been discussing reasonably cordially; is that what they teach you at New Wine?

egbon naija,is asking if a group of people are a bunch of jokers insulting? my bad if it is, i thought it simply meant are u kidding me or come off it.
If you are biblically ignorant and foolish enough to part with 10% of your monthly income to your "church" instead of doing as Jesus taught, which is to help the needy around you, don't worsen the ignorance and folly by insulting those who know and follow Jesus' teaching!

i hav never ever regretted paying my tithe and trust me my finances are pressed down, running over and shaken together.if you like you can call me mr yafun yafun or is he the only one grin  grin
So what? By the way, I know New Wine and I have been there a couple of times, what's your point? Is the issue being discussed whether a group meets in a former cinema? Or rather is the discussion about formats of meeting and whether the mega-church format in particular is desirable?

whats wrong in having themed events.most people i know think church is soooo boooooooooring.God gave us our brains to think and be creative so with a little crreativity if some people come to christ, why una dey sweathuh

Christianity EtcRe: Are Large/Mega-churches Biblical? How Large Is A Church Supposed To Be? by kushe: 6:37am On Apr 15, 2010
to the initiators of this discuss,i find the whole thing a bit uncomfortable especially with the usage of bible verses to show how badly we reason out every day situations.let me start by asking how many people really go to church on a sunday in england, not in all the 'shires' but in london, birmingham or liverpool.

God is the same yesterday ,today and forever but he also created a humanity in evolution.the world population in the time of the apostles was probably just a percentage of what it is now and therefore with numerical and societal or cultural change should come an evolution in the way churches meet and are administered.the summary of your opinions are almost cultish[i didn't say occultish] or sectlike and these are the group of christians that always go ahead and do stupid stuff like the ones recently arrested in the us for wanting to wage war against the state.

for believers in the acts of the apostles you shouldnt even be on the internet where unimaginable things and the obscene are only a click away.why cant christians just serve God in their own way  and leave Joel Osteen,T.D Jakes,Eddie Long,Paula White,David Oyedepo and co alone.some people have actually formed successful ministries out of pulling down this folks.

this people talk about a relationship with God in a world where our lives have crowded Him out and even if we may not accept their methods at least he is still preached.we overanalyse only to make ourselves comfortable with the decisions we have taken like not attend a kicc anymore etc.

do you honestly think pastors of mega churches are devoid of the call of God.please dont be a bunch of jokers.multimedia themed worship is simply indicative of the year we are in and which is 2010 by the way and so you dont need a massive bible or the ncccf to truly love God.i would actually love a church situated in a theatre and my church in london is actually a refurbished theatre i.e newwine and it doesnt come better than dr tayo adeyemi delivering a well researced, intellectual discuss from the bible.

meet nigerian christians in london and they hav prolly gone to kicc, jesus house, new wine and now hillsong.very soon the australian worship theme will tire them and they will hane an excuse to move again.

my point, maybe the problem is actually us and not the church the pastors or their message.a selfish person cannot fathom giving 10% of his hard earned money either in a congregation of 100 or a million.a heart that is not totally repentant will make it into ushering and sleep with a dozen sisters in the choir be it a small or mega church.

if you like fine boys attraction is a mad thing and anyone can trip for you.at some point in my life i tripped for girls that typed really fast, now i am a sucker for a chick that makes sense on the piano or guitar.quick story, met an ethiopian chick who never removed her shoes.good thing we was doing cafes and movies till she came over one night and wasnt in a hurry to leave.i tried all my naija sense to make her remove her sheen length boots, manolos or whatever, they were just freaking me out but she no even notice my insistence.

a few moments later and like the fourth track of jazz cd,this chick a 7 picked up a guitar ,climbed into my bed and asked me if i could play.i bought the guitar but never had time to learn i replied.ever dated a chick that played an instrument she asked.no but that would be interesting i replied not knowing why all the questions.

the track skipped to the next and she began a gentle accompanying with rapturous attention to the track playing.my head wan blow but all the while this african chick from a dirt poor country in east africa no look my face, rather she tightly sealed her eyelids and made music like i had never heard it before cos he remain small i for just c.m. cos the surprise was heavenly.

at that moment nothing else mattered to me,not her shoes or my string of chicks that looked way better than her.it almost felt like love or a burning lust,i just wanted to be with and around her and all cos she had a rare amazing skill.

in the morning to my amazement her boots were off,the room didnt smell like i had imagined in my nightmares and her feet were sexy and not just ok.i became hooked to a girl i prolly looked better than and eventhough we moved on,she gave me the most amazing eight months of my life.
Music/RadioRe: Why Are Styl-plus So Broke.!? by kushe: 7:11am On Mar 17, 2010
to you all

rather than crucify the poster,i think we all need to appreciate what a public forum like nairaland is.this is some form of shizophrenia where thoughts are broadcasted to get the feedback of other mad people grin. that is what the internet is about.the subtraction of privacy and sanity from our lives and the addition of chaos and intrusion and in the process turning jobless folk like mama gee to local champions.

on the subject,i feel very qualified to state an opinion cos i hav studied trends for forever and i commend the poster cos he just might be a disappointed fan who would rather see the styl plus in his head experience a better life in reality.we can all rant and talk s.hit but people all around us are watching and someday ,somewhere ,someone would call us out on where we are with our lives.in this case it is a fan calling out supposed celebs, tomorrow it might be a bunch of juniors from high school calling out a tyrant senior from back in the days,or chaps in the neighborhood just askin simple questions like i thought u had a hit record? or i thought u went to university? or i heard he moved to canada?or i heard she got married to a loaded chap?or i heard he got a plum job at oceanic?

the problem is not the question but the inbalance in the equation.that is why you get the 'so how comes ?'.the poster meant no harm to styl plus ,but on the day they decided to release a record, they also prepared to get called out someday in the future.

e.g i liked 9ice's gongo aso album so much that i didn't even listen to more than 2 tracks on tradition b4 i joined the bandwagon of 9ice is dead only for me to listen to the album and eat my words enjoying quite a few more including the initial i didn't like.now wetin 9ice do me?nofin! he just set himself up for calling out by giving us a banger of a joint.    GET THE POINT Y'ALL?
