PoliticsRe: Is It Over For Hillary Clinton? by Lady2(f): 5:04pm On May 07, 2008
When the other delegates are counted Obama will reach the goal of 2,025 even if Hillary wins states. Obama still wins delegates. He is definitely not far from it with 1,823 delegates (last I checked)

I don't think the superdelegates will have to decide.

How old are you going to be?

I am sooo excited, but even more excited that Pentecost falls on my birthday.

Holy ghost fire, fire fall on me
Holy ghost fire, fire fall on me
On the day of Pentecost, fire fall on me
On the day of Pentecost, fire fall on me

Let the Spirit of the Lord come down
Let the Spirit of the Lord come down, Amen
Let the Spirit of the Lord come down
Let the Spirit of the Lord from heaven come down
Let the Spirit of the Lord come down.

I am all toooo excited for my own good, lol.

Carl, I will keep praying for your intentions. May Mother Mary interceed for you also, and may the merciful God grant you favour.
Keep me in my prayers. I would really like for you to pray for my bf, he loves God but doesn't truly know him (I asked him what Pentecost is, he said it's a church in all seriousness, I had to correct him, he's a pentecostal)
I ask God to give me the courage to talk to him about it and help him. I love him dearly, but living for God is my life and I want him to be a part of it, but not for me, but for himself.
So please pray, thanks.

wow, lady u were a protestant    and now a catholic (a brilliant one at that)

this is interesting! now all those who say people are leaving the catholic church will see that there are so many more coming in.

just came to greet you guys, am having a very busy day at work, pray for me o.

lindiwe, viee, ebos, lady and all others i greet o!
Yup was a Protestant. I attended the Catholic church a little but never for mass and didn't know much. My grandparents and uncles and aunts are Catholic. My mother was secular, now she jumps from church to church (may she find peace, Amen)
I made sure I learn about the faith. I stand firmly in it.

Unfortunately you may have been blind to the lessons you were supposed to get while still a protestant. You talk about discrimination, glad to let you know that the RCC is the most culprit knowing their history during the Inquisition you know. Even the "Protestants" you call us, is it not the discrimination birthed by the RCC?

Bashing is relative. Words of correction and expositions will always sound bashful as people naturally get defensive even in the face of small disparaging views.

~Lady~, i know you and if my prediction is right, i should expect a very bitter vitriol from you in rebuttals. Like i said to you earlier , i wont look at your rantings (if you take that approach again this time) but focus on the issues. I hope i have not spoilt someone's day by intruding? Apologies if i have.

Cheers!
This is because the protestants are all knowing. Please like I said I was one and I also bashed the Catholics.
Lol@ you saying that the protestants are discrimination birthed by the RCC. I thought you guys were perfect and all knowing, hahaha, is there anything that you will accept responsibility for?
Shame on you.

Dear you know me not. Unless you're my God, you know me not and cannot predict anything having to do with my life. Fortunetelling is not of God, but ofcourse I didn't expect any less from you.

Let's hold a scale for me and you and I'm sure everyone will be in favour of me as rational. Honestly i thought men are level headed but you seem to be as emotional and irrational as a woman during her menstruation.

Take care dear grin

Hi Carlos and how is work?

There are so many of them, i even have a friend formerly a a great one, now a catholic, he even prays d Rosary more than those who have bn there for long
Wow, praise be to God. I have a musliiim on this forun trying to convert me but little does he know I have seen the true manifestation of God and I am clinging to it.
I need to talk to you, here's my e-mail shoot me a message efeosausa@yahoo.com
Christianity EtcRe: The Gospel Of Barnabas(the True Forgotten Gospel) by Lady2(f): 2:55pm On May 07, 2008
@Davidylan: You know me enough by now that few things bother me. And the Bible is probably the last of them. Just to let you know, there is still a christian woman in my future. Hopefully, she will see the goodness of I.s.l.a.m in me and before she dies make the right decision.
LOL, i'M SURE SHE ALREADY DID AND FOUND IT IN CHRISTIANITY.

From what she gets from you she only sees dodging of the question. Answer the questions man.

But Paul preached a different message from what your lord, master Jesus preached about God and himself. Thats the point
It is different because that is what the Qu'ran tells you, prove the Qu'ran.

Why was the covenant made with the Arabs but carried out by Jewish Prophets?

If any of them were to disagree, as they did with what Paul preached, then the preaching had been "incorrect!"
Show us where they disagreed

If what they preached were put in the Bible, as they are in the Bible, you will not sincerely with straight face say thats "100% words of God?"
So how did the Qu'ran be 100% word of God? Because Muhaamad said so? Did God write it down? Who's to say that Muhaaamad didnt add his own bits and pieces, infact who's to say that he didn't just come up with it himself.

Now let me explain to you how it works in the Bible.

Inspired men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the books that make up the Bible. It is God's word because having beeen written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the books have God as the author.

Maybe that was too hard for Muhaaamad to comprehend. That God could actually use men as instruments to do his work.

There is no way that the God that created Adam and then his mate, Eve is 3 personality godhead
Why? Because human logic cannot explain it?

I thought God was capable of anything. If you say no, you're limiting his abilities.

Do you sincerely know them? Do you, word for word, in his own words, alone?
Yes it's in the Bible, go and read it.

I know that my God is not a man, was not killed, Invisible, Most powerful, Most beneficient, Most Merciful and not multipersonality entity!
then you don't believe in My God. My God is Almighty, and capable of everything including walking the earth that he created, whispering to us through the wind, reaching out to us through everyday people, sacrificing himself so that we may be free (as a real parent would, but then again you don't believe you are a child of God).
Sir you limit your god because your god cannot have children, if so then he had intercourse with a woman. Your god cannot form himself as a man, so what can your god do.

Those who worshipped idols believed that their god were merciful, beneficient, powerful, but they knew that it couldn't be a man, it couldn't have children because it couldn't copulate with a woman and so on. See the parallel do we?

I am sure that Barnabas know more about Jesus than you ever could. I will take his opinion over yours any day, if I did not already know everything needed to know from AlQ.u.r'an
Why would you need the gospel of barnabas when you have the Qu'ran? I thought the Qu'ran had everything, so why can't you learn everything from the qu'ran? This is one of your contradictions. You tell me that the qu'ran had all the answers so but now your'e saying if you can't get it from the qu'ran. My dear it would be no if, if it was 100% true.

God does not lie, and he makes no mistakes. So when in writing his book why was there a mistake and Muhaaamad put down that A''llah has three daughters and they are to be worshipped and then took it out and said it was of the devil. How can the devil even be allowed in the presence of God, how can the devil even gain influence to the word of God? I mean seriosuly?

If God cannot have a son, how come he had daughters? Did he have daughters?

I know what messiah means. And Jesus is a messiah to his people alone. And not the world over. And what you fail to see is that there is no m.u.s.lim who says that he takes any statement over the Q.u.r'an.
How come he was a messiah to the Jewish people, but the covenant was made with the Arabs?

I this miss both of them, since we do not particularly take the position that Barnabas is 100% correct. I read the Bible before, as I have told you. I am very satisfied with the Q.u.r'a.n. My duty is to be sincere about the ministries of each prophets/messengers about their God. None of them had the write or mandate to say anything other than the fact that he was a bearer of the commandment that God is One and he only should be worshipped and depended upon.
ok so why are you praising God for his writing?

I am a human being. Am not the knower of all things, God. When I contradict myself, let me know. Take advantage of my humanness. But remember God Almighty, always.
No one is the all knower of things, however if I ask you how old Mary was when she gave birth to Jesus, you would tell me 13-16, yet the Qu'ran said she's the sister of Aaron, how is that possoble? was she 13-16 for centuries?

What proof do you need? If a man wrote the Q.your.'an, it would be hard pressed not to take the accalade of what that master piece provides. Look at the Bible, every book had the name of the supposed writer. Even the scribes had his own name in there. Remember the "Gospels according to, mark, matthew, John, Luke?" Even Paul and company and all the apostleshad the names of the apostles in there. Please use this alone and other reasons that you should know that Q.u.r'a.n is the true words of God to make up your mind. We all have a long way to go. We are still alive and thats a reason for uptimism.
Yeah it may be true that it would be hard not to take the accolade unless the main purpose is to mislead people, which can be done and possibly has been done. But you are mistaken about the Gospels of Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John. They were the writers but didn't give the title to the books. The title was given to the books by the Bishops. This was to give direction to which book was written by whom. This was done with guidance from the Holy Spirit.

The Books of the Bible have as their principal author the Holy Spirit, although He Himself did not write them. The Holy Spirit inspired the human authoers of the Bible to write down in their own words, and in the manner and style of the day (so that people may understand them), what he wanted them to write, and He guided them to the extent that they wrote faithfully what they had ben taught. This working together of God and man in the writing of the Bible is called inspiration. This inspiration covers not only matters of faith and morals, but extends as well to the facts of history as related, and to the whole Bible.

Remember the Bible is not just made up of the New Testament but the Old Testament also.

The answer I get is that the Jews corrupted the Torah and then the Christians corrupted the Bible, so Muhaaamad was told to write down in exact words the word of God.

Well what I want to know is why an Arabic prophet? Why didn't he just send another prophet from amongst the Jews as he had always done in the past. When they disobeyed him and the previous prophet passed, he restored another one to do his work and caution the Jews and set things straight. Why didn't he follow his pattern? or is he confused?

Did he say "well I know I made the covenant with the Arabs but I kinda want the fruition of that covenant to come through the Jews, but they're not listening to me, so I'm gonna send them a prophet again, and again, and again, but I'm just going to give it a try and send one from the Arabs this time"
Well the Jews aren't obedient to Muhaaamad, so where's the next prophet? Did God abandon the Jews all of a sudden?

Whats baseles about there is Only One God, worship Him? Whats baseless about all prophets/messengers were humans and nothing more, since they delivered God commandments to humans? Whats baseless about there is paradise and hellfire as rewards for obedience and disobedience to Gods commandments respectively?
I can seclude myself from society because I am angry at the way it is going. I can show up and say that I received a revelation from God and this is what he said: I the Lord am one and I alone should be worshipped, all the messengers and prophets are humans and nothing more, so if you were to be instructed to worship any one of them, you shouldn't. There is paradise and hellfire as rewards for obedience and disobedience to God's commandments respectively. What is the difference between me and Muhaamad?
What is the difference between Muhaaamad and Joseph Smith? Didn't both of them receive revelations from an angel of God? Weren't both of them annoyed with their societies? Do you see the parallel there?

A man who is warned and take no notice has himself to blame. That is when the consequences of not heeding the warnings. The reward of obedience is mercy, forgiveness of minor sins, if one avoids the major sins. One of the major sins is the 3 in 1 concept, because God categorically declares that He is not Jesus, nor holyghost or father god. Open your eyes and read the Q.u.r.'an. It abounds in Mercy. The first shown is the God forgave Adam and his wife. We do not have the original sin, a greater show of Mercy by God in I.s.lam.
Until you can prove the authenticity of the Qu'ran, don't quote it for me, or use it to prove a point.

Here is the same thing from a Christian perspective. God is ever merciful that he sacrificed himself for our salvation. WHomever does not believe in him will not receive mercy. Whomever sins against him shall be forgiven as long as the person seeks forgiveness. But there are those who will hear and not believe, the Spirit is not with them. They have hardened their heart away from God.
Why are you born of man and woman and not just created from clay as Adam was and your wife created from a part of you? If you have nothing to inherit from Adam? If you do not inherit original sin? Why didn't God just start afresh, afterall it's a new man being created?

Reading sometime maybe accompanied with lack of understanding or misunderstanding, based on many factors. The biggest is refusal to divest oneself from already held ideas. When you read Suratul Fatiha, you did not see a clear sign that it was not God that is talking and that it is M.u.h.a.mmad was the speaker. What you did not see based on your religiousity is that it was not clear to you that it is God that is the Speaker, because that chapter does not start with "God said," based on your Biblical expectation. Q.u.r.'an is not the Bible.
I read it without the attachment to the Bible. Remember I questioned you about the "We" I could have easily said: there the trinity is mentioned in the Qu'ran, but I didn't.
I approach the Qu'ran with history.

I am laughing because I am thinking which part of the bible is that? And then, what was copied and pasted are better in substance and journalistically than the original? This is interesting. Yet he did not take credit for it. Very interesting? I hope those egostical powerful people follow his lead.
I addressed this issue above.

But the jews never even believe up to this present day that jesus is even a prophet. The Romans killed him. Neither position would a mu.s.l.im take. If a m.u.s.l.im takes either position, he is out of I.s.lam. So your argument is baseless. You are passing apple up as orange here.
I think that was my point. That they didn't believe. I called an orange an orange.

Is it that your cumulative earthly work and blind faith in christianity that provides salvation? I used the blind faith because there is no rational for blind belief. But the Creator of this earth is the creator of the heavens. All of these places are his kingdom. He is the Owner. Or is there another owner? But the lord's prayer has a statement about 'thy kingdom comes' and 'on earth as in heaven!' Aren't you now presenting direct clear and present confusion from th Bible about what is written and what the Christians do? Well we will have a good conversation about this and others.
1. It is not blind faith. It is proven faith, in my life too. Don't forget I have experienced it for myself. I am not just blindly following what someone said.
2. Who said the creator of the earth is not the creator of heaven? Oh yeah you are speaking as if you understand what earth means here. I believe I already explained this to you, when I told you that Christians are not of this world. Now you know what earth is.

oops! I for one, thought you were in Lag as well. well that's good to know. Now i understand how you could comfortably pray your rosary in the bus and even talk to someone about our Lord and pray the rosary with her. definitely not our own kind of Lagos danfo!
LOL!!!

I didn't say it was comfortable. I just said I did it. Trust me practicing Christianity and being a Catholic is not very easy in the US, especially the south where almost every one is baptist or primitive baptist or african methodist episcopal or united methodist episcopal or church of God in Christ, anything but Catholic. They frown upon you and tell you you're going to hell. It's not easy at all. I might be safer on a molue.

I was a protestant and attended just about every church out there and found them discriminatory or confused and very bashful.

Yeah it's another day again! today is the sixth day of the novena to the holy spirit, and the church collectively prays for the gift of understanding. See below.

DAY SIX

If Thou take Thy grace away, nothing pure in man will stay, All his good is turn'd to ill.

The Gift Of Understanding.

Understanding, as a gift of the Holy Spirit, helps us to grasp the meaning of the truths of our holy religion. By faith we know them, but by understanding we learn to appreciate and relish them. It enables us to penetrate the inner meaning of revealed truths and through them to be quickened to newness of life. Our faith ceases to be sterile and inactive, but inspires a mode of life that bears eloquent testimony to the faith that is in us; we begin to "walk worthy of God in all things pleasing, and increasing in the knowledge of God."

Prayer

Come, O Spirit of Understanding, and enlighten our minds, that we may know and believe all the mysteries of salvation; and may merit at last to see the eternal light in Thy Light; and in the light of glory to have a clear vision of Thee and the Father and the Son. Amen.

Our Father and Hail Mary ONCE.
Glory be to the Father SEVEN TIMES.

Act of Consecration to the holy spirit
On my knees before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses,
I offer myself soul and body to Thee,
Eternal Spirit of God.
I adore the brightness of Thy purity,
the unerring keenness of Thy justice,
and the might of Thy love.
Thou art the Strength and Light of my soul.
In Thee I live and move and am.
I desire never to grieve Thee by unfaithfulness to grace,
and I pray with all my heart to be kept
from the smallest sin against Thee.
Mercifully guard my every thought
and grant that I may always watch for Thy light
and listen to Thy voice
and follow Thy gracious inspirations.
I cling to Thee and give myself to Thee
and ask Thee by Thy compassion
to watch over me in my weakness.
Holding the pierced Feet of Jesus
and looking at His Five Wounds
and trusting in His Precious Blood
and adoring His opened Side and stricken Heart,
I implore Thee Adorable Spirit,
helper of my infirmity,
so to keep me in Thy grace
that I may never sin against Thee.
Give me grace O Holy Ghost,
Spirit of the Father and the Son,
to say to Thee always and everywhere,
"Speak Lord, for Thy servant heareth."

Amen.

Prayer For The Seven Gifts Of The Holy Spirit.

O Lord Jesus Christ Who, before ascending into heaven did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me that He may perfect in my soul, the work of Your grace and Your love. Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal, the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth, the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven, the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with You and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, and the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him. Mark me, dear Lord, with the sign of Your true disciples and animate me in all things with Your Spirit.
Amen.
AMEN!!!!!

I don't usually get my hair done, I just comb it (I have short hair), but my bf and family are tired of it so I got braids.

So I guess from now on I'll be getting braids.

I get my nails done at least once a month

I do my pedicure myself or my bf does it for me

I don't get facials but would like to try dermabrasion (I don't need it though)

I just began bikini waxing because I am tired of razor bumps, it's unattractive and unhealthy. I tried doing the waxing at home and almost slapped somebdoy. I hated it and it doesn't work

I forgot to add I have endured hydrocolonic cleansing but the reason was mostly medical. i would do it again for superficial reasons tho
I want to try that too for health reasons ofcourse.

I use make-up every now and then, but hardly (I don't need it)
Christianity EtcRe: The Gospel Of Barnabas(the True Forgotten Gospel) by Lady2(f): 9:25pm On May 06, 2008
Can you please serve your reason for saying that The Great Book is not the word of God but my prophet?
I read it.

You see, all the evidences in the creation of night and day, and the flawless words in that Ko'ran shows it is Gods'. To disbelieve in it there is an awful penalty
You're speaking to someone who read it. Thread softly dear.

Ask Olabowale what my answer to him was when I read the first words.

Of course, what more can I say. God Himself said that if Mu'hammed were to bring all signs by God's leave, those whose path is to err, will not believe. So therefore, you are not forced to believe because your are yourself. And whatever you do with your soul, will be accounted
Funny we keep telling you guys the same thing.
Seems like Muhaaamad copied and pasted.

Majority of you think Alla'h's threat is untrue. But have you not heard of the disgraceful torments the people who disbelieve face on earth, even before the Judgement. Hurricanes are examples. They worshipped Jesus or idols, now tell me: "Why didn't Jesus save them?"
Spoken like a true Roman and Jew.

When will you understand that salvation is not of this earth. God's Kingdom is not of this earth.
Christianity EtcRe: How Best Can You Describe The Holy Trinity/Godhead by Lady2(f): 9:19pm On May 06, 2008
All of your assumption of sonship is based on a virgin girl having a child without a husband. While this method of creation simple difficult for you to swallow, compare it to the creation of Adam. A creation of a creature that there was no prior example before it. But that creature, Adam was created fully grown. Capable of eating, and all that grown ups do.
No sir. Not just that. It was mentioned in the Old Testament even before it came to be. A Son already existed.

Considering them to be in their mid twenties for example? After the immediate shock, they should settle down to reality of the new condition; they are now the Adam and eve to populate the earth. God who is capable to bring about these many ways of creation of man, you are saying that in the creation of Jesus, He has to sleep with Mary, otherwise, you should know that what you have said about fathering Jesus is a complete fallacy. If God did not have sex with Mary, but just commanded the bringing about of the birth of Jesus in a fatherless process, then Jesus can not be son of God.
My friend when will you stop thinking in the physical.
Why is Adam the Son of God id God didn't sleep with someone?

Why is my father my father if he didn't sleep with my mother to create me?
I call a particular man my father even though his blood I do not share

The Son of God is not the Son of God with sperm. That is why he is so different. That is why he is Sinless. That is why only he could die and raise from the dead. He need to be born not of man but of God. Man is sinful, God is not. That is why there is no separation between him and God. There is a separation between God and man because of sin. But without sin there is no separation. No one in the past, today, or the future can be that.

spoke about any real son of God to come
According to the Qu'ran or the Torah or the Bible? Which one?

But Jesus, while on this earth never at one time claimed that he was the exclusive son of God; begotten or otherwise
So I've been showing you scriptures for nothing. It came from his mouth himself, but you want to claim that he didn't say that.

I submit to you that it was those who wrote the Bible who are making unfounded claims about jesus and God.
So did God write the Qu'ran and dropped it from heaven?

None of these noble prophet told us that there will be a songod coming because God needed to provide a gruesome closing process for full blanket forgiveness
Genesis: I will put enmity between you and the woman and her offspring. You shall bruise his heel and he shall crush your head.

It was there in the beginning.

But Jesus truth as you understood it, ended up with the beginning of the prophethood/ministry/messengership of Mu/ha/mmad. For those who rejected him, in reality rejected Jesus as well. Jesus was just the truth, as a prophet for those short centuaries; less than six in all.
Really 500+ years after his death. It breaks a pattern here dear. All the prophets were continuous with no gap in time. and all of a sudden here comes this huge gap. after christianity had spread far and wide.

Whats the spirit name
The Spirit of God. It was spoken of by the Prophets and God and no the Spirit is not Muhaaamad. People already experienced it centuries before Muhaaamad came.

Am sure if I yell holy spirit, he will not answer me
What answer are you looking for, a voice? I'm sure if you yell A'llah he won't answer you. You won't hear a voice.

If I were in the time of jesus and i yell Jesus (Esau)
No he won't, he would answer to Yahshua.

Esau means hairy in hebrew.

But God said in the Qu/r'an that it does not befit the majesty of god to have a son
You've still got to prove this is God.

You call the Supreme Yahweh like the Jews. You call the Supreme Jehovah and say alleluiyah like (who call Him that, the Jews also?
Nah I call him OSANOBUA
Didn't you know the official language of God is Bini?

You seem to think you know what the truth is. And that is why you are overtly confident.
Are you sure you want to walk down that line with me?

You're looking for human logic to answer spiritual questions? Good, because you then have to apply that same logic to the Qu'ran. You also have to battle the history of Jews, Christians, and Romans and some more to prove that they are all lying. I will also put a twist to it and have you battle the history of the Arabs.

You want to use human logic to discredit the Bible, then use it to prove the Qu'ran.
Christianity EtcRe: A Christian Sister Pregnant Before The Wedding: Is It Right? by Lady2(f): 7:07pm On May 06, 2008
Nor was there any ban on premarital sex; it is seldom appreciated that nowhere in the Old Testament is there any prohibition of unpremeditated fornication
I'm glad he said Old Testament and not the New Testament. It is the Old covenant and not the New one.
Here's the thing you need to understand about the Bible. It is made up of the Old Law and the New Law. We have the Old law to show how God's people fall from glory and how merciful God can be. It gives us the commandments and shows how the people fall from it. Therefore we are to learn from their mistakes, it is our history. In order to know where you're going, you need to know where you're coming from, so you wont end up in the same spot.
The New Law doesn't just wipe out the Old Law, it enforces it and makes it easier for us to come closer to God. Loving God is not and should not be that hard. Love is not hurtful.

"in praise of sexual love, celebrating youthful passion, with no reference to marriage,  It affirms that sexual love is in itself good and beneficial
um no it doesn't. See this is why not just any random Emeka can or should be allotted power to interpret the Holy Bible. The Song of Songs uses the love between a man and a woman to show how God loves us. It is not a sexual book. This person clearly misses the part about the Bride and the Bridegroom and the virgin at the end whose brothers protect her so that she may not be spoilt for marriage.
I hope you're not just searching the internet and taking whatever you find to be truth, that would be so naive of you. You know that any random person can post anything on the internet.

The scriptures were not written in English. "Fornication" is a great example of the lies in translation of some bibles
I am French and I say Rouge, my English friend calls it Red, where is the lie?

There is no biblical basis whatsoever to translate porneia into fornication (singles sex).
Porneia meant sexual immorality which included:
Porneia means any illicit sexual intercourse, including fornication, adultery, homosexuality, sex with animals, sexual intercourse with relatives, sexual intercourse with man and woman.

What you said is correct except that because you are unlearned about the Bible you think it is a lie. All these are mentioned there, 1 Cor 6:9 Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? o not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor sodomites.
If you continue reading down you will see that it speaks of sexual immorality as a whole but actually mentions them.

Stop calling the Bible lies when you know nothing of it.
Christianity EtcRe: A Christian by Lady2(f): 6:56pm On May 06, 2008
I am not looking for either. But I am looking for that greater work that the later generations of mankind who called themselves "Christians," did, whereas Jesus did not do. Please tell me couples of them. If you can, considering the miracles that God performed through Jesus, then it is either that somebody has embellished as to the phrase "Greater work shall he do." Please name the greater works that they have done.
Peter healed the sick. If you're looking for modern times, I present myself to you, and how praying and laying of hnads have saved me through Christ Jesus. I can even testify of how my life and that of my family's have been saved through our belief in Christ and how pleading in his name the devil bowed to my family and left. But I wouldn't want to put my business out there, so I'll tell you the story later.

Whats a church then? But when you go to church, say Sundays, you don't enter a Building? And Christianity was preJesus, you are saying?
A church is a people. The place where we worship is a sanctuary, there were sanctuaries before christ. When Christ said "You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church" he was speaking to a person and he did not mean that he will literally lay bricks and cement upon the man and that would be his church. So the church are the people who serve God in the sanctuary.

Again, you claim that he is god. But the God Who creates never is subject to death. Only that is enough to dispute your statement. How can a God be praying to himself, stating the will of that prayed to God will be done rather than the will of the god that is praying? It is clear that the one praying is not the One he is praying to!
According to a human logic or God's divine wisdom? You told me that God can do anything, so why is it impossible for you to see that he can subject himself to suffer to save his people, that is what we call divine love. Because God is ever merciful, and he knows his people so well, that he literally came upon this earth and showed his people how to do things right. Basically spoon feed us because we were still thinking as humans. He came born without sin, by the spirit, of a virgin, and died and rose again. He
defeated
death. He did what no man who ever walked on this earth can claim. He was born without the sperm of a man, he died, and rose again. He didn't stay in the earth as any man. So in essence he is not dead. He is very much alive.

You can't understand because it defies human logic. That's the whole point. What part of the Son of God don't you get? You say that in the Bible he never called himself the Son of God, I show you then you run to another point, there are places where he was called God and he didn't refute it. But ofcourse the Bible is corrupt, right?

As I admire your level headedness, I take the position that Jesus prayer at the Garden of geshemane was not accepte by God. This is according to the Bible. Therefore the One Jesus petitioned is greater than Jesus. So in reality Jesus has a God who is his Lord. And that Lord God is different from him. That Lord God is greater than him. That lord God is the true Lord God.

So if Jesus can never force God to accept his prayer, as the example indicated, then no one among the Christian can force God to accept any prayer.
Your point here, contradicts you own point above.
Above you siad that he prayed that the Father's will be done, well then why are you saying that his prayers wasn't answered. He asked for God's will to be done and it was done.

He and the Father and the Spirit are one. You were trying to explain to me the other day that if Christ died then that means that God died. Well yes, I am telling you yes. In order for that to happen, he had to be in human form because a spirit cannot die. But his flesh can.
But you also mentioned water and ice as an example. That if the ice is stained wouldn't that mean that the water is too. Well yes this is true.
So now I want to see the chemical properties of water. In science it is called H2O. Well when that water becomes solid does it's chmical property change? Isn't it the same H2O. And when it becomes gas does it change absolutely not. It is still the same H2O.
Liquid (God the Father) Solid(God the Son) Vapour (God the Holy Spirit). Hope that answers your question. It is still the same God but in different forms. It is still the same water, but in different forms.

No one said that Christians force God to answer prayers. You don't know Christians do you?

Just because these Prophets/messengers were Jewish by blood has nothing to do with their religiousity and piety to God
Why was the covenant made with the Arabs but the Arabic prophets are Jewish? So the Jewish Prophets abandoned their people to go and become Prophets to the Arabs because the covenant was with the Arabs.
Explain.

However not all of their laws are carried forward into I/sl/am. We don't pray like the Jews for example.
Why not?

And who should I present except God and His messenger about the authenticity of Qu/r'an and Mu/hammad? Should i present Jesus, Moses , Ibrahim, Noah, Adam, Angel Gabreil? Tell me and I will be honest with you, if i can do it or not.
It doesn't have to be a who? I want proof. I can't take your word or the word of the Qu'ran because your word comes from the Qu'ran and you're trying to prove the Qu'ran to me so that strikes out anything in the Qu'ran, now you can start somewhere from history.

same applied to Mu/ha/mmad. Afterall, Jesus displayed some good quality and character that set him apart, even as a youth. So did Mu/hammad. You need to read the life history of this noble soul. You and me will not be having this conversation in an adversarial way.
Tell me about his life.

According to God, when He said that they claimed that Jesus son of Mary is One of three. Just this alone is enough. Anyone who disagrees with God is dishonest.
How do you know it is God. Because Muhaamad said so?

Good assignment, but they did not have any Mu/s/lim opinion in there. And there was no Jewish opinion either. I just do not see how that convinces anyone
They had the opinion of people who did not believe in anything. Neutrality was there. The people were atheists and now they believe.

Hi lady,
welcome on board, just relax and have fun!

you don't mean it! Well i was astonished initially till you mentioned you aren't in the country. well that's quite understandable. Well you could go ahead and do the novena privately or get someone to join you. You could go to this site to print the prayers http://www.ewtn.com/devotionals/pentecost/seven.htm
We are on the 5th day shaaa. You can also continue with the May devotion if it's not done in the parish you're going to.
Where in the US are you?
Lol, I hope you all did not think I reside in Naija o. I am in Florida right now attending school here. Yeah I notice that things differ from parish to parish. I am only a year old and some days, so I'm still gettingmy hands on things. I'm catching on really quickly though.
I've been attending the Novena at my Parish and it's been wonderful. I guess for those three days that I am gone I would have to do it myself or call my friend and remain on the Phone and pray with the Parishioners.

The church is always one, the pentecost novena is everywhere, but it depends on Parish by Parish; in some parish is general, while some is by society to society, my parish is only the Charismatics and the CBIU, while in St. Mary's is all parishioners ( i attended theirs once).

Lady are you a Nigerian? you said you are home sick thats why i asked.
Yes ma'am. I was partly raised in Port-Harcourt until the age of 12 when my family moved to the US. Oh well that explains it better.

2. The author was a direct disciple to Jesus unlike Paul who wasn't
Barnabas was never a "direct" disciple of Christ.

If you guys are going to dismiss Paul then you must also dismiss Barnabas.

Funny thing is the answers that you guys give in one question contradicts the answer that you give in another. Your memory needs to get better. Stop picking and choosing that which makes your argument look good. Because you become caught in a web of lies.

Olabowale be careful that you don't contradict yourself as you have done many times on this board and in conversation with me. I take notice of them and will bring them to your notice soon.
Don't let your answers contradict each other.

Let me say that in your Bible, it states that Zarkariah was deaf and dumb for three days because of the sign God promised concerning John. The Ko'ran that we believe is God talking in the first person says God commanded him not to speak(that is he must refrain himself from talking) for three days except with a sign(just a sign to test his patience); therefore he was not no deaf nor dumb but the recorders of the bibe felt so.
And I am still waiting for proof that the Qu'ran is the Word of God, other than Muhaaamad said so and it is said in the Qu'ran. SHow me the proof, because all you say from the Qu'ran in baseless.

Hello all

viee, Oby1, and Lindiwe, u guys seem to be having fun here o!

I have a question. Aren't all the churches supposed to do the Novena for the Holy Spirit?
My church does it but I am traveling and I looked up the Parishes where I am going and called them and they said no they're not doing the Novenas, I am so disappointed.

I want to move back to Naija ASAP!!!!

You all are making me miss home so much. I haven't even truly experienced what it's like to worship in Niaja. I know it's going to be different. The Parishes here are very lenient. Some things are done and some things are not done. I like my Parish because we always have a Nigerian Priest and a lot of Africans attend it, though it's still a bit lenient. But this new Priest is setting the place ablaze and I'm loving it. We're weeding out those who are not really of God and challenging everyone to be better christians.
If you go across the street, it's a different story o.

I WANT TO COME BACK HOME!!!!! I AM SOOO HOME SICK!!!!

1) Is he lying? Will you guys send your bank account number or major curses on the person who sent the e-mail
2) I think his point is that, just because you receive something in e-mail doesn't mean it's true.

That was a perfect, hard hitting example. I bet you they won't pay attention to the e-mails.

I wish he could have used chain letters as an example though.

Well while he did this, he did also help a Nigerian boy obtain VISA to the US for medical treatment when someone lobbied towards him.

So make your choice with both examples.
Christianity EtcRe: Catholic Q&A Thread by Lady2(f): 6:52pm On May 05, 2008
Does this have anything to do with why the Roman catholic priests burn incense, and to whom?
hahaha, no. The queen of heaven that is being spoken of is a goddess that is worshipped.
If your insinuating that this is Mary, your wrong. She is never worshipped but honoured for being the ark of the covenant.

No incense is burnt to her. Don't forget that Zezhariah the father of John the Baptist was a priest and he also burnt incense. Luke 1:9
Are you insinutating that he was burning incense to Mary?

The use of incense can be found mentioned in many scriptures in the Bible as a way to pay homage to God. It is used today in ceremonies not only as a method of blessing, but also to encourage meditation and prayer.

Hope that answers your question.

People we don't preach that Mary is God or offer sacrifices to her. No Saint can take the place of God, Mary definitely cannot. But we do know that she is with God and that she prays for us. She is the ultimate mother. You cannot deny the Mother of God, even if you don't see that she's the Mother of God, you cannot deny the Mother of your saviour Jesus Christ. She birthed him and nursed him and raised him, certainly he wouldn't kick her to the curb. He won't say well your just a means for me to get on this earth and now you're irrelevant.
For those who don't think people make it to heaven what about Moses and Elijah, what about the thief on the cross?

[quote@Pastor AIO: There is nothing called Christianity or christian, in substantive meaning. Its all a show. All talk and no backing. Its talking a good game. We know that when they say that Jesus raised the bar on them, telling them that they will even do bigger and greater things, we see that the reality is incongruent with that statement.
]
Actually it is, check the Bible. No it's not a show and dear it has been proven many times. If you're looking for flashy cars and houses and all the money in the Bank then my dear you don't know about Christianity. If you're looking for something physical, then you don't know God.

It is because Jesus could never have told them that they will be better than him. Just in the same way he did not tell them to satrt a new religion, which is a good reason he did not build a "Church
Um sorry dear, but he did. A church isn't a building, sorry, but it isn't. It wasn't a new religion.

There is no way that Jesus can instruct anyone to abandone God and concentrate on him
I'm really trying to understand where you got that from. Who said Christ told anyone to abandon God and focuss on him. Dear he is God. Seek and you shall find.

If they say Jesus prayed and the prayer was not answered, and he was killed, then you can imagine that they set themselves up as liars as they pray to Jesus or through Jesus and claiming all their prayers will be accepted , always 100%!
A prayer is a petition, when you asked your mother for something did she always hand you everything or did she use her wisdom to prevent you from harm?
Or better yet does your god hand you everything you ask for?
If he doesn't does that mean that he doesn't hear?
God is all knowing and in his infinite wisdom he knows we usually ask for more than we can chew. So he doesn't give it to us because he knows it will harm us or that we ask him to do something against his will. For example, I can pray that God kill my teacher that threatened me in class, but he won't because it's wrong for me to ask for the death of a person, he won't help me do wrong.

Now ofcourse there are Christians who don't pray correctly or don't know how to properly ask God for something. A young unmarried girl, instead of asking God to do his will in her life and grant her the husband that he created and molded particularly for her, she cries to God and askS God to help her keep her man, because he is oh so fine and he's good at heart, even though he's not good in action, and she feels she loves him, even though she knows not what love is. She should ask God for the strength to deal with her lonliness until her perfectly created man arrives for her, she should ask God to help her not fall into the sin of the flesh in her lonliness. She should ask God to bless her when he feels she is ready not when she feels she's ready, meanwhile she's still in school and struggling to make ends meet, but wants to plan for a wedding.

[quoteFinally, you see how they are dancing around the core of the topic; instead of responding to your post, they are shifting the goalpost, trying to give personal definition of what Christianity is. One of them is suggesting the haracteristics of Ruth. But Ruth is a Jew. She was not in Christian era. She was not in New Testament. Like Ester, Ruth is from the Jewish writing. Its like Psalm. Is Solomon from Christian era? No. You can never justify Christianity from anything prior to Jesus.]
Then why are you guys using the Law of Moses, why don't you wipe them out and create your own? You can't justify Is'lam from a Jewish prophet. Infact when a new Prophet came he should have started anew, disregarding what the Lord had laid down. That means Is'lam should start anew and disregard all that was done with Christianity and Judaism.

My dear don't start giving me the story of how the Torah and the Bible are corrupt and the Qu'ran is the only truth. You still have to prove the Qu'ran to me. I want a different response than Muhaaamad said so or God said so, because it is not authenticated that God was the one speaking. The Qu'ran show inconsistencies with the rest of the Word of God. The only way it can hold any weight is if Muhaamad says that all that has been there since the beginning of time was a lie. Now that is very suspicious.
Like I said if I ask questions they will be deleted.
Dishonesty is very common among this people
According to who? Muhaaamad?

Bump in to say hi to you all Oby, Carlosein Viee, Lindiwe, Imohtep, Pamperme, Lady, and all our new members are highly welcome.

I’m really happy to see this thread moving ahead.  Keep it up.  May God help us all to participate fully for this May Devotion.

Thanks you all for your prayers for my mum, she is getting better, though, still in the hospital.  The story would have been different if Satan had succeeded – my elder brother who was going to the hospital to clear the hospital bill had an accident.  They concealed it to my mum and he is getting better and would be discharged anytime from now
How are you dear, noticed you've been missing for a  while. I thank God for your mother and your brother. God is ever merciful to us. I will keep you and them in my prayers.

Join me in Thanking Jesus and Mother Mary,
I can't stop Thanking Jesus and Mother Mary for
saving me from a fatal car crash last week.
The guy beside me broke his arm and leg while i came out with just a scratch.

Glory to Jesus now and forever ; Honour to Mary

JESUS I TRUST IN YOU
All glory and honour and praise be God forever.

just to remind every one to join the church in the novena to the Holy Spirit and May devotion
may we continue to find favour with God as we adore the Holy Spirit and honour our Lady!

have a great weekend!
Yes o definitely. I am always happy when I learn new things about the faith. I didn't even know about this novena until I went to Mass on Sunday and found out that I had missed two days already, I made sure I went the third day and will continue going.

May the Lord send down His Spirit upon us and instill in us a great zeal for God. May His Spirit heal us and those who do not believe. May His Spirit heal his church from the wounds of sexual abuse. May His Spirit heal the world and help us turn away from this sexually crazed society.

Carlosein,
I have been praying the Rosay tirelessly and I am very happy. Today I have prayed 15 decades already and ready to pray some more. It gives me a peace I cannot describe. I took advantage of an opportunity to pray it on the bus and as I was standing waiting for the bus I encountered two young ladies and two elderly women. The young ladies have a respect for God and longing for him but do not live thier life pleasing to him. As I was praying they were talking and I could hear them speak about how they want to do the right thing. One especially went to Church this past Sunday and having been away for a while she cried and wants to go back. Her brother is incarcerated also and it saddens her. I prayed for her and her brother right then and there and I told the other young lady about the Rosary prayer as I was praying and I shared with her the Sorrowful mysteries. I could tell she was a bit uncomfortable (she's heard so much about the Catholic faith) but she wanted me to pray anyway. So I sat with her and prayed.
I pray that the Lord touch her and turn her to himself. And I am asking you all to pray for them too. I could tell they  have a longing for God. So please pray for them. Ask for peace in their lives.
Thank you.

May The Lord be with you all as your day continues. Amen

OUR IGNORANCE AS AFRICANS NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME
However your ignorance of Christianity and the history of it doesn't amaze me. A lot of people are ignorant of the fact I will list below

It has been extensively discussed on this forum that Jesus was NOT European, neither were the europeans the inventors nor the pioneers of the gospel message. the europeans were just fortunate to have heard the gospel earlier and brought it to Africa (and not just Africa but other places as well); the reverse takes place now and many Africans take the message of the gospel to Europe and pastor european congregations.
the same trend ie christianity, takes place in Asia (eg south Korea) and south America. so go ahead and accuse them of worshipping the 'slavemaster's invention' as well.
Christianity was not brought to Africa by europeans. There were christians in the North and most especially in Ethiopia (it is even in the Bible)

Yes. It is among one of the two basic religions. The Isl'am and Kufr.
Why doesn't your stupidity amaze? If I ask you questions about Is'lam they will delete them and no I'm not talking about quoting the Qu'ran and finding faults in it, which I have found while reading it, but questions that will definitely get you to quesstion your faith and think outside of the box. I will also ask you questions that you will provide answers to that contradict each other.
Christianity EtcRe: Glory To Jesus, Honour To Mary! All The Real Catholics Please Stand Up! by Lady2(f): 8:58pm On May 02, 2008
well we all struggle to pray the rosary and that infact is one of the reasons it's so efficacious (imagine telling your spouse or loved ones "i love you" over and over again) for us that should be very repetitive and boring but the angels, saints and the Godhead revel in it.

as for the mysteries, the prayer generally known as the "rosary" is really just one of many and consists of chaplets (five chaplets with five mysteries depicting events in the life of our Lord and His Mother). it is a meditative prayer and we are to meditate on the individual mysteries after the prayers are said.

several variations allow us to meditate on passages in the gospels other than the stipulated mysteries, i.e the biblical rosary as used by the medical missionaries of mary (MMM) sisters, or some virtues of the saints and ask God's help to acquire them, especially virtues we are lacking.

the most important rule lady, is to know and acknowledge that God is indeed our father and to talk to Him as such. hence in our conversations with Him (prayer) we should strive to make Him the focus and ensure we grow in His love. therefore any method or means one explores to get closer to God is alright as long as it achieve it's aim. so you can vary your mysteries following any rules you like as long as it uplifts you, but quite frankly i think there can be no new method to this mosst hallowed prayer, it is just that you haven't laid your hands on one existing method whice suites you. ask around your catholic shops and booksellers you'd be surprised what you find.

finally, if it's just a case of having to remember the mysteries, you could use some aid like leaflets available in catholic bookshops. they are small and light and you can take them anywhere and use them anytime. or you can simply copy out the mysteries on a small piece of paper and have it handy when you pray.

good luck with praying and pray for me while you are at it
Thank you

Hello everyone.
Hope your weekend goes GREEEEAAAAATTT!!!!!!

God bless
love u all.
Christianity EtcRe: Why Do Women Cover Thier Head? by Lady2(f): 8:48pm On May 02, 2008
Catholics are the ones who put Mary on a such a high pedestal. I'm not one so whether she covered her hair or not has no bearing on me or most non Catholics.
and I'm not sure what a Jewish woman covering her hair has anything to do with the evidence I'm asking for. All this "I believe Jesus would have wanted" thing you have going really doesnt cut it.
I am yet to understand how this turned into the Catholic view. Care to explain.
Cause he could have clearly stated Elizabeth or any Jewish woman for that matter.

Pls answer his question and stop deviating blame to the Catholics. In case you didn't know not all Catholics cover their heads with a shawl.

Ignorance is not bliss dear.

@Olabowale, my point is that it is more cultural than spiritual. When Christ died for our sins he didn't say that only those women who cover their heads should be accepted into his kingdom. It was the norm and culture of the Jewish women or those living in that part of the world, I am not Jewish. Just like circumcision, the covenant of circumcision was not given to the gentiles but to the Jews. Christ wants us to come to him as we are. When he extended salvation to the gentiles, he asked us to come to him as we are. He doesn't say that you should let go of your traditions.

It is my custom that my hair be braided and adorned in cultural beads. There are different beads to show the status of a man and woman. It is not my tradition that my hair be covered in a shawl. If I am to adopt the Jewish tradition then I would aslo adopt their way of marriage and their language. That means that I would abandon my heritage. That is not the directive of Christ. It may be so in Is'lam, but in Christianity there is no discrimination of one's culture.
If it was my culture that I cover my hair with a shawl then I would.

If you want we can view Is'lam and the reason why people think all mu'slims are terrorists.
Let's look at the Arabian mu'slims. They strongly believe in the Shariah law which condones punishing a woman when she is raped, regardless of the fact that the men too are punished, She didn't tell them to come defile her. It is a crime against her and she is punished for it. We know that Is'lam derived from the Arabs, so my dear Olabowale, are you in support of their traditions?
Or maybe we should look at the suicide bombings. Olabowale are you in support of that? Because that would take you straight to heaven?

You're a yoruba man, not an Arab abi?

Yes Christianity is a way of life but my dear that doesn't mean that I adopt someone else's culture. I can abide by God's rule and still be a Bini woman. I can praise God in my language, I don't have to adopt another man's language. If a religion comes to me and tells me that I must conform to another man's language then that religion is not of God, because God created us all and not just a particluar set of people. He didn't not create the Jews to be superior. He chose them to carry out his grand design, but he in no way created them superior.

Besided in the passage I posted above, Paul was telling them, 'hey you respect your husband by covering your head with a shawl, why not God?'

By the way, the hair is a covering of the head. That is why women should not have short hair (I am growing mine out, lol)

And what is wrong in a man finding a woman beautiful? All of God's creation is beautiful. What is wrong in the beauty of the hair? Oh it distracts men? Well isn't that sexist? A man has no self-control, blame the woman. And you were telling me that Christianity is sexist. lol.

@D-reloaded: Read what Davidylan wrote above and my jovial response to him. please note that Jesus the master himself did not have any statement about head covering for women. However, its ironic that his mother, mary the woman who suckled and cared for your lord, from nothingness in the womb through delivery, until he became a strong and independent person never left her head uncovered. I know that you do not care what she did, even though she is the mother of your god.
Exactly the point. He didn't say that women should cover their heads. Women of that time and in that part of the world already had their head covered. If Christ traveled to Africa, I doubt he would have said cover your hair (a covering already for the head).

Is there a woman more important than a mother to the child? But it is Paul who had opinions. Opinions which destroyed the concept that Bible is words of God and nothing else. Well, Paul's opinion destroys it. Furter it has no religious underpinning.
I beg to differ. I happen to believe that God uses men as instruments to carry out his work. He inspired Paul to write the books that make up parts of the New Testaments. If I am a singer and God wants to use me to fuflill his work, I will sing in the language I know and in the way I know how to as long as God's message is recognised.
It is still the Song of God because it wasn't by my might but by his.

If you lay claim that Paul corrupted the Bible, then the same claim can be made that Muhaaamad corrupted the Qu'ran (I can surely engage you in this discussion). But we can't talk abou that, cause it will be offensive.

Finally, if a woman wants to imitate any woman, it should be the mother of Jesus, over the opinion of Paul. That is especially when Jesus never had any contrary statement about how his mother covered her head. And people are taking Paul's opinion over what is clearly behavior of Jesus' mother whic was acceptable to Jesus, because he never go against it.
His mother was not American, she wasn't Nigerian, she wasn't African at all, she wasn't European. We can emulate her actions and reactions and her attitude towards life and her obedience to God, but that doesn't mean we should emulate her dressing or her language or her hair stylings. I don't have hair like hers, if I want to, then I would have to perform a damaging act to my scalp by getting a relaxer (perming). I don't have her same skin colour. A white woman is closer to her in skin appearance and hair than I am and I can't use the same hair products or style my hair the same way as a white woman. Why? because she's created into a different race (colour).

If you want your wife to be like the mother of Muhaamad then go get an Arabic woman, because she's the closest that you can get. A yoruba woman does not look like an Arabic woman, because she's not Arabic. It is not the yoruba culture to dress like an Arabic woman. If she does, she shows hatred for the way God made her and in so doing insults God. It's like a homosexual man becoming a woman, he insults God by changing the way he was perfectly and beautifully made.

It was never included in the Hebrew Old Testament and is placed with the Apocrypha by Protestants.
Go and ask the Jews. It was included and then taken out. Don't forget, Hebrews, James, Jude, were also called Apocrypha by Protestants so why are they included?

Because Mary is dead and buried thats why!
Where did she die and where is she buried?

Doesnt this suggest that she is the wife of God the father?
hahaha, oh no!!!

Someone can be called Queen without being married.
Look at the monarchs of Europe, most especially Elizabeth I. She was definitely Queen but never married.

Apart from Moses and Elijah that appeared to Christ on the mount, what proof do you have that christians are in heaven? If christians were in heaven then why would there be a need for the resurrection. Paul says the "dead in Christ shall rise first" Since there has not been a resurrection as yet, how then can a person other than being translated enter heaven?
Where is your proof that they are not?
If they are not in heaven, where are they? Where are their souls? Wouldn't this prove purgatory?
If there's to be a resurrection, it means the souls are being held somewhere. Where is that if I may ask?

They simply held bowls. Besides, all those persons that were canonised into saints supposedly by the RCC are in their graves and not in heaven as believed by catholics
Where is your proof? If Moses and Elijah made it to heaven, why not the mother of our Saviour? She's not special enough ehn? But special enough to be the vessel of God, abi?

So because angels have previleged access makes them our subject of adoration or invoking?
They don't need to be adored. But what's wrong with their invocation, if Christ tells us they're praying for us. Why not invoke them to do more of the praying?

The truth is the assumption-of-Mary-to-heaven teaching was started later by the catholic church. Its a RC doctrine and has become part of the church's traditonal beliefs, but there is nothing biblical about it.
There are writtings by apostles about Mary and they are of her birth and her ascension. They were not put in the Bible because the Bible is not about her but about God. So now I ask you, if it were put into the Bible would it then implore you to honour her?
How did the Bible come about? That is another discussion for another day.

The issue about Mary did not come up recently in the Catholic Church. It has always been there. It was debated for centuries, but became accepted recently, does that mean that it isn't true, absolutely not. If you say it does then the Bible won't be truth, because it was agreed upon centuries after Christ's death and the founding of the Church.
Christianity EtcRe: A Christian Sister Pregnant Before The Wedding: Is It Right? by Lady2(f): 8:25pm On Apr 30, 2008
Family and culture also has a role to play in this. I’ve seen situations where the bride is asked to get pregnant before the wedding . . .it is archaic and demeaning (testing the woman's fertility before their son gets stuck) but it is done.
Yeah I've heard of that too. angry

What if she can't get pregnant? So they will defile her and leave her? Rubbish. angry
What if she's not at fault? They will defile her, leave her, and move on to the next? angry

That archaic thinking needs to be squashed and women need to stop being so desperate and letting these men do this to them.

A Brief knowledge my people

Why did the Jews take out the books from the Torah?

The difference in the Catholic and Protestant Bibles arose in the following manner. The Jews livin in the few centuries beofer Christ were divided into two groups---the Jews dwelling in Palestine and speaking Hebrew, and the large number of Jews scattered throughout the Roman Empire and speaking the Greek anguage, a consequence of the conquest of Alexander the Great of Greece.

In several centuries before the coming of Christ, the Jews in Palestine re-examined and eliminated some of the books from the existing collection as not in harmony with the Law of Moses and as of doubtful inspiration. The Pharisees set up four criteria which their sacred books had to pass in order to be included in the revised Jewish canon:
1) They had to be in harmony with the Pentateuch (Torah or Law)
2) They had to have been written before the time of Ezra
3) Thay had to be written in hebrew
4) They had to have been written in Palestine

(So in other words, the rest of the Jews were irrelevant, because any book written by the other Jews are not divinely inspired, because they did not speak hebrew or did not reside in Palestine or lived after the time of Ezra. as you read below, notice that none of the books were eliminated because they were not in harmony with the Pentateuch)

The application of these arbitrary criteria eliminated Judith, written in Aramaic; Wissdom and 2 Maccabees, written in Greek; Tobit and parts of Daniel and Esther, written in Aramaic and outside of Palestine; Baruch, written outside of Palestine; and Sirach and 1 Maccabees, written after the time of Ezra. By the 1st Century after Christ, this revised canon was generally accepted by all the Jews.

From the earlies times, the Christian Curch recognizes the Jewish canon of the Gree-Roman tradition, or Alexandrine canon, as being the tru Bible. Jesus himself quoted from this Bible, and not until the Reformation was this canon seriously challenged.
These seven disputed books are also called the deuterocanonical books, while the rest of the books of the Old Testament comprise the protocanonical books. By protocanonical books is meant thae "books of the first canon," books of the Old Testament accepted by both Christians and Jews. The deuterocanonical books, "books of the second canon," are those sevenbooks found only in the Catholic canon.
Luther rejected the deuterocanonical books of the Old Testament. At one time he also eliminated Hebrews, James, Jude, and the Apocalypse (Revelation) from the New Testament, but later Protestants reinserted them.

The books of the Bible were originally written in three languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Aramaic is a branch of the Semitic languages and was the language used in Palestine in the time of Christ. It is the language Christ spoke. Hebrew is a Semitic language which originated in Canaan and which was passed on by Abraham and his descendants, reaching its greatest glory in the reigns of David and Solomon. It was the language of the Holy Land until about the 3rd Century B.C., when it was supplanted by Aramaic. The Greek language as used in the Bible is not the classical Greek as we know it today, but a dialect spread throughout the known world of the time by conquests of Alexander the Great
MOst of the books of the Old Testament were written in Hebrew, while all of the New Testament, exepting Matthew, was written in Greek. The Book of Wisdom and 2 Maccabees were also written in Greek. Portions of the Bok of Daniel, Ezra, Jeremiah, and Esther, and all of Tobit, Judth, and the Gospel of St. Matthew were written in Aramaic.
