Christianity Etc › Re: Who Can Correctly Say Which Christians Properly Interpret The Bible? by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 3:30pm On Aug 09, 2010
Honestly, reading the Bible is one thing, Understanding it is another and deriving Wisdom to interpret it the way it is, is a whole new ball of wax grin

I have read the Bible through and through thanks to cramming for WASC CRK in the late 80s grin. I have studied the Bible for spiritual insight and personal satisfaction and I find the following to be true

1: Many Interpret the most simplest and plain of instructions (that require no further interpretation)
2: Many Interpret the Bible to suit their own personal expectations not God's divine presentation.
3: When the message is lost to interpretation, then it becomes a divine Mystery; Never to be Understood but continually accepted
4: Jesus used parables and proverbs to teach mostly illiterate masses, no doubt the meaning and value of his teachings were not lost to the discerning and educated of his time. so why do we have a problem interpreting a message that was propagated to the Masses in simple language. huh

Christianity Etc › Re: Are Pentecostals Really Christians? by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 3:14pm On Aug 09, 2010
^^^ Christianity is define or should be defined by the following
1: A Way of Life completely represented by the Life of Jesus Christ
2: A Religion with a monotheistic system of beliefs and practices based on the Old Testament and the teachings of Jesus Christ (the Savior) as embodied in the New Testament.
3: A daily multi-lateral (All strata of an individual's daily living) relationship with God and his Righteousness. i.e striving for a level of perfection that is finally achieved when one goes to heaven after judgment

So Catholic or Pentecostal, if you are not living right by God, then you are in my camp grin

@Poster, the question you have asked is easily mired in theology and philosophy. but you must be on the side of reason. is is right to steal bread out of starvation or steal for profit?

Yahooyahoo is very profitable indeed and so is getting a legitimate job as a government official and looting the treasury. but the issue really is stealing by any means. It is wrong but does the end justify the means ?

Crime › Re: Irate Students Humiliate Randy Lecturer by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 8:54am On Jul 30, 2010
@reactor, I do not get what you are implying. but it seems to me that your grouse is simply the manner the man was caught and disgraced huh

What you are saying is that the Lecturer should not have taken the law into his own hands by threatening and actually failing the girl even after she had sex with him angry. Did you expect the lecturer to table a request with the Academic Staff Union that he wants to sleep with the girl or fail her I truly miss your logic there.
its even possible she willingly offered sex to pass and the man failed her to teach her a lesson
Then you go on to say that in-spite of his guilt in the matter,
the sooner they learn to stand against these advances the sooner the menace will get stamped out. its only still manifesting because many girls are more than willing to sleep for their grades.
So the Lecturers who threaten the future of their students unlawfully have nothing to make up for in morales and you placed the burden of exposing these seedy lecturers on the girls shocked. Well guess what. someone had the guts to risk it all and expose this Revered Knight of Mulumba, a Family man and a Lecturer given the responsibility to guide the future of this generation's youth. and you @reactor feels that the victims are kidnappers and scum. I pray you have a daughter who studies in the Engineering Department of Ekpoma and is exposed to Sexual Harassment. Let us see how you will handle it then. angry

Okay, this has gone far enough, over 12,000 views on Daily Motion and 2,000+ "likes" on Facebook and over 14 top results on Google from several popular blogs and news sites, this issue has gained enough mileage to deliver two important messages to Higher Institutions of Learning

1: Nigerian Education System must begin to take steps to cull Sexual Harassment of Students (Male/Female) in a thorough and professional manner
2: Victims of Sexual Harassment need a much durable and objective platform for airing their grievances without causing unnecessary collateral damage.

Due to this video, Prof. Otubu's Wife and Daughter are in a state of severe emotional trauma, his friends and neighbors are faced with the uncomfortable choice of facing him every morning with the memory of what he was involved with.

The University also has a strong negative perception from prospective females who wish to study there. There will always be this air of discomfort especially for the more technical courses like Engineering. It is an open secret that Sexual harassment exists in our institutions but this Video has shown in a more personal manner, an insight to what truly goes on.

The victim (Judith) is also facing one of the most traumatic moments of her life. 400 level Engineering student on the verge of getting suspended or worse, having other lecturers on Otubu's side fail her on other courses. This is one of the worst feelings any student will face at the turn of her Academic studies.

The Edo state Governor must prepare adequate conditions that allow the investigations to carry on without further damage to both parties.

I cannot believe what i hear some posters vigorously defend, that the Lecturer was kidbnapped. from Where!!  angry His house and no policeman was alerted, his wife and kids did not know!!? The Lecturer had the ransom money to pay his kidnappers!!?P Haba Nigerians why not admit that the Lecturer was caught pants down. It happens every day and to many girls who have gone through our sordid education system from Primary to University level. It is even going on as we speak. so why would some dung beetles come up here and say the Lecturer was kidnapped or seduced. so it is now a crime to seduce someone  grin

The female student was probably pushed to the wall and could not stand another round without passing on account that the Lecturer forgot her matriculation number and needed to jog his memory by jogging her bottoms  grin

PARIS (AP)—France coach Laurent Blanc will drop all 23 World Cup players for his first match next month as collective punishment for the team’s embarrassing fiasco in South Africa.

The French federation said Friday in a statement it had granted Blanc permission to suspend the players at the coach’s request.

France was eliminated in the group stage at the World Cup, failing to win a game. The players also refused to train as a protest after Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka was sent home following an expletive-laced tirade at then-coach Raymond Domenech.

Blanc refused to speak to reporters when he left the federation’s headquarters Friday.

France plays a friendly against Norway on Aug. 11 in Oslo, and Blanc is set to announce his squad Aug. 5.

France’s disappointing performance in South Africa came after the team failed to win a game at the 2008 European Championship, also under Domenech.

The French team endured days of chaos at the World Cup after L’Equipe newspaper published a rant by Anelka aimed toward Domenech at halftime of a 2-0 loss against Mexico, prompting the French federation to send him home.

The next day, the entire squad refused to train in protest and captain Patrice Evra had a lively altercation with the team’s fitness coach that was captured on TV.

The events caused an outcry in France, with politicians harshly criticizing the players’ attitude, legislators in parliament questioning the coach and even President Nicolas Sarkozy weighing in on the mess.

Earlier Friday, France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris criticized the squad for being “totally stupid” for going on strike and said he is desperate to “restore the image” that was so badly damaged in South Africa.

“Going on strike was the decision of a group that felt isolated, that felt no one had protected it, and that wanted to get a message across,” Lloris said in an interview with L’Equipe. “We went way too far. It was a clumsy decision, a big mistake. It was totally stupid.”

Lloris, who has 14 international appearances and is expected to stay the No. 1 goalkeeper, accepts the players have an obligation “to make sure what happened in South Africa never happens again, that we don’t self-destruct in that way ever again.”

“We acted more like a team in the bus than on the pitch,” the 23-year-old Lloris said.

“We all want to restore the image of Les Bleus. I’m not asking for us to win everything, just that we all make an effort, that we give everything,” he added. “We need to get back to basics, respect for the jersey, for ourselves, our teammates and the institution that is the France team.”

Federation president Jean-Pierre Escalettes handed in his resignation earlier this month and the federal council unanimously appointed Fernand Duchaussoy as caretaker president Friday.

Duchaussoy said earlier this week it would be difficult for Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema to play for France after both players were issued the preliminary charges for their alleged involvement in a sex scandal with an underage prostitute.

Duchaussoy moderated his position Friday, saying any decision would have to be made in accordance with Blanc’s views on the matter, and that sometimes decisions must be made that go “against one’s personal convictions.”

Romance › Re: Why Cant Guys Say Am Sorry To Their Girlfriend by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 5:32pm On Jul 23, 2010
While it seems a common behavior among both genders. It is important to know this simple fact. When two people are on the defensive, the result is disagreement and quarrels with that there is no room for sorry, One must fall even if the matter is never settled.

Take for instance, the boy-friend is late for a date (typically by at least 2hrs) the girl is already fuming and at her tail-end of patience. when the guy finally shows up she waits for him to settle down then flares up
1: "Are you planning to cancel the date, you should at least have called me to tell me so" OR
2: "Why are you so inconsiderate, this is not the first time." she goes on to recount other occasions
3: "I am not speaking with you, please take me home. I am tired"

The guy will either flare up babbling incomprehensibly or simply walkout on you  grin and probably be holding a grudge for at least 2-3 days

It is always important to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, try to simmer down and ask
1: "I hope there's no problem, you took long i was beginning to get worried, what happened"

That is all you need to ask and he will either say, "I am sorry, this and that happened, we might need to cancel" or "Here I bought you this on the way"

Problem solved

Clerics target football shirts

KUALA LUMPUR, July 22, 2010 – Manchester United’s fans in Malaysia erupted in astonishment and anger on social media, Thursday, after clerics warned Muslims against wearing the team’s famous jersey with its “devil” emblem.

Manchester United and the rest of the English Premier League are hugely popular in Muslim-majority Malaysia, where conservative religious leaders said the jersey was un-Islamic and should be banned.

Social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook were flooded with comments from fans in the Southeast Asian nation.

“Maybe the religious leaders are just fans of Liverpool?” quipped one supporter on Twitter.

“Why this become an issue after Manchester United has won the title for 11 times? They haven’t been watching the matches all this while?” said Sharifah Shahidah, a die-hard Manchester United fan of two-decades standing.

“What am I gonna do with all my Man Utd jerseys? And my sons’ jerseys?” Sharifah, a Muslim mother of two and an IT programmer, asked on her Twitter account. “Should I cover the emblem with a picture of flower?”

Malaysian clerics said Wednesday that Muslims must not wear the iconic red jersey because devils should be shunned, not celebrated, and urged those who had worn the garment to “repent immediately”.

Also off-limits are the shirts of teams including Brazil, Portugal, Barcelona and Serbia, all of which carry an image of the Christian crucifix in their team emblems.

“This is very dangerous. As a Muslim, we should not worship the symbols of other religions or the devils,” said Nooh Gadot, a top Islamic leader from southern Johor state.

Manchester United Fan Club Malaysia, which has about 7,000 members, declined to comment, but the fan club’s chief, Lawrence How, noted there was no official ban on the jerseys.

The clerics agreed there was no “fatwa”, or religious edict, but that one was not needed when it was clearly wrong for Muslims to wear such a garment.

Malaysia is a generally moderate Islamic country, but conservative clerics have issued controversial edicts in the past, including a ban on the ancient practice of yoga, which is criticised for including Hindu elements.
