Have you heard about going out to buy a new furniture when your house roofing is leaking?
Talking about economy, which is money without addressing corruption first and last of tthe agenda, is like selling and putting your money in an open pocket.

What is Nigerian economy anyway? Dig you pipe down at 11am put it in a barrel at 12pm sell it to the white man at 1pm and bank it at 2pm, that hardly requires a lot of thinking .
Best answer from an elder.

Brash, Inconsistent, unprinicipled,opportunist and desperate.

Not ready to be the President of Nigeria IMO maybe in another 4 years after learning politics through the hard way. Would make a great impact on Nigeria if he was IG of the Nigerian Police now.

@Gbawe

I understand you an ACN man, You said some of your folks are running under ACN which is goo and you have every right to defend them and your beliefs. What i want you to understand is and i have said it before there is no where in the world where politicans dont bash each other and it is for this reason i respect our Old Beloved General who has never bashed Ribadu, Tinubu or even GEJ in person (except for Yinka odumakin). Ribadu and Tinub have gone on the offensive to Buhari, Joe Igbokwe and Lai mohammed went oon public to bash Buhari.

Why can you not handle Bakare bash Ribadu nor handle Buhari supporters bash Ribadu based on facts no one can dispute. The issue is politics , it is about an election in 9 days , everyone is going for the kill , after 10 days if there is a run off we all have no option but to come together to kick out our common enemy. this is life and this is politics ,  you just have to live with it. This is what i have been trying to let you understand as it happens everywhere in the world. Ribadu made mistakes , just accept and let us move on, Bakare has made mistakes we also move on. Both are new in politics and bound to err .

I know in your inner most heart you know Ribadu cannot win this election neither can he become second, neither can he win Adamawa state nor his local govt. why not support a more realistic candidate and Ribadu can use his passion and skills in another capacity in a Buhari administration. You do not have to be president only to be able to effect change.

Akainzo:
@Gbawe, the bolded part of your posts is stretching it a little too far. Ribadu knowing he had the backing of OBJ, did to an extent arbitrarily lock up folks whenever that would help him achieve what he wanted. Let me remind you of the Plateau, Rivers and Bayelsa house of Assembly members, plus the storming of Adenuga's residence.

Indeed the world rated him high and fancied him a lot, when he was diligent at doing the main EFCC work. Upon using that diligence to build up his stock, he however dabbled and muddied himself up in the politics of the times and allowed himself to be used by OBJ. The US govt did in fact reduce their funding of the EFCC at some point and did request for clarifications from him, when the noise about him being used was getting too loud.
Corruption was allowed to fight back against Ribadu, when he started soiling his hands and therefore created the opening to enable folks ridicule or hold him to ransom. A case in point, for all of what Ribadu portrayed about Odili, and kept on saying the court gave a restraining order; it is on record that EFCC under his watch did not even try to appeal that judgement, as it was just convenient to hide under such. A closer scrutiny of that particular case would uncover more dirt, did you know that the EFCC lawyer in that case was not even bothered to be in court in 3 different sessions prior to the judge's pronouncement!

In as much as I admire you and also Ribadu, I fail to accept a man that would compromise his principles for personal benefit. I can understand one that compromises for the greater good of all, but not one that compromises for personal benefit.
I submit and i concur
PoliticsRe: Maybe The Fashola Oath Rejection From Tinubu Is True Afterall by Lagosboy(op): 8:45am On Apr 07, 2011
In political circles espeically in the SW of Nigeria it is not unsusal and in fact very common for politicians to pledge loyalty to a cause and the only form of pledge known in the Yoruba circles is oath taking, be it with kolanut, little blood or other things.

LAbour sent text messages of Fashola rjecting to take an oath.

Tinubu says we only called for pledging of loyalty/allegiance

I leave the rest for intelligent people to read between the lines as there is no smoke without fire afterall. I personally think Fashola has an interest in Labour party. Durosimi Etti running for Lagos central senatorial district was the arrow head of Fashola for 2nd term.
PoliticsMaybe The Fashola Oath Rejection From Tinubu Is True Afterall by Lagosboy(op): 8:41am On Apr 07, 2011
http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201104077145840

Former Governor of Lagos State and a leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Mr. Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday denied an alleged rift between him and Governor Babatunde Fashola over oath-taking.

The denial came barely 48 hours after a widely circulated text message alleging an oath-taking rift between the duo, went into circulation.

Tinubu, who spoke at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, shortly after arriving aboard a private jet from Abuja and Akwa-Ibom, said he would not allow agents of the Peoples Democratic Party to create a conflict between him and his successor.

He, however, noted that his party only held a stakeholders meeting, where every member pledged allegiance to the body.

He said, “Have I ever appeared to you to be a person in oath and cultism? We held a stakeholders meeting where we all re-affirmed our loyalty to our party and we said in no way shall we take anybody who had been with our party and who now crossed over to either Labour Party or any other party for that matter and create prostitution kind of an environment in our party. There is no way we would take them back and we would not allow a PDP agent or a Labour Party that we know to divide us. “The point is they do not have a presidential candidate; you can not say you endorse Fashola the governor and you field candidates against him at the House of Assembly. What sense does that make? You are trying to erode him and depopulate his member so that you can have a trading power with him.

He added, “We don’t want political traders of scavengers on the corridors of power. If you are a democrat, you should be, you can not take both ways, it is impossible. It is their tradition, particularly my noisy neighbour, to go into oath taking and their party to go into blood oath, kolanut oath.”
PoliticsRe: Is Fashola Finally Exiting Acn For Labour Party ? I Received Text Messages That Indicate He Is. by Lagosboy: 8:25am On Apr 07, 2011
Tinubu is reaping his greed, Labour party is giving him the fight of his life in the Lagos legislative elections. They want to prevent his wife from becoming a senator, his daughter from becoming a house of rep member and his son in law from becoming lagos speaker.

I would not be surprised if Fashola is backing this group in secret.

Folks on ground in Lagos , what is your opinion on the familiaruty of the populace with the CPC logo, my mum rang me in the middle of the night asking me i should send her a copy of CPC logo or card in case Buharis name is not on the ballot bearing in mind there will be about 9 or more party logos on the ballot paper.

The problem is she has never seen Buharis poster or logo and she lives on the International Airport road.
IslamRe: Struggling To Find Community: An Igbo Convert Story by Lagosboy: 7:51am On Apr 07, 2011
She said we should not shed tears for her but I cant hold it. This is a problem within our ummah and I pray we resolve it, many white girls face this kind of problems in the UK as well. I dont want to sound chauvinist but honestly this problem is great among our muslim sisters, some dont have patience to help, some aisans or even arabs look down on blacks, some blacks hadcore "salafi" castigate others , some of our hausa bros think the yoruba muslims are less muslims and we could go on and on.

Many revert sisters cant find husbands as some born muslim will not marry them, they are rejected by their community and then rejected by their fellow muslims. Little wonder why reverts have formed various groups and marrying reverts like themselves to feel more comfortable.

May the good Lord strengthen the faith of this sister and reward her in this life and in the hereafter.

Ify is it you or another Ify this sister has found solace in?

What "principles and consistency" is Buhari displaying by stating that "Abacha never stole a kobo"? What "principles and consistency" allows Buhari to benefit from the funds Muhammed Abacha brings to the CPC? Is it that others remain forever condemned by the few mistakes they made , never mind all that is good they have done, while Buhari deserves to have his errors dismissed in keeping him messianic? My friend , no Nigerian politician is a total saint . That is not what we should be looking for right now. If you want to highlight the inconsistencies of Ribadu then that is OK as long as you understand that the same "inconsistency" applies to Buhari, Fashola, Utomi, Duke and virtually everyone we think can do welll in public administration. In fact , of the new generation of administrators who will take over from the old set (which includes Buhari) how many do you consider undoubtedly more upright than Ribadu ? Can you name them ? Is it Fashola, Duke , EL Rufai or Oshiomhole?
Buhari has not accepted a kobo ofrom Muhammed Abacha for his campaign and you can prove me otherwise. I have not said Buhari is a saint but he has shown the best consistency in 40 years of public limelight. 40 years is a hell long time.

Ribadu could be one of the best in the next generation but at this moment in time Buhari is what we need hence my support for him and not Ribadu.

Gbawe:
My brother , you are guilty of unfair judgement , lacking in pragmatic objectiveness ,  and a poor appreciation of the big picture with what you write above. What , in the name of god, is wrong with the ACN? Ribadu is a politician now and no longer the boss of the EFCC . He has made it clear he joined the ACN  because , in comparison to all other Parties , it has the highest ratio of performers per offices held . Go , for example , and inspect what ACN senators are doing at the house of Assembly !!!!  Ribadu hails the progressive backbone of the ACN as a factor which appealed to him. He cites the laudable achievements and history of folks like Fashola, Oshiomhole, Fayemi , Aregbesola et al as a reason he chose the ACN . Yet folks like you only see Tinubu !!! Is that fair or even sensible ? Is that how some of us play the game of life ? I.e a total rejection of real world pragmatism that allows us focus obsessively only on one negative reason for not doing something while we ignore the overwhelmingly numerous positive reasons for moving forward ? I bow OOO .

It is entirely your choice if  you prefer to accept Ribadu goofed for joining Tinubu rather than think Ribadu made the right choice for joining many who , undoubtedly , are acclaimed to be the good guys moving Nigeria forward . It is uncharitable that anyone can view the ACN to be about Tinubu alone while they conveniently ignore the performance and outstanding history   of folks like Fashola, Oshiomhole and Fayemi. By your reasoning , we must similarly condemn Oshiomhole , an outstanding union leader who remained fearless in the face of tyranny, because he joined Tinubu's ACN. We should also throw out Fayemi and all he stands for  , to include bravely standing up to despots like Abacha before some of us were in diapers, simply because he joined the ACN Party. Ribadu is a politician now . He will have to make compromises . He chose a Party with the right balance of performance, structure and clout . Those who see Ribadu's choice of the ACN to do with Tinubu alone were always looking to malign Ribadu anyway because , for anyone who is genuinely objective, it is obvious that a very legitimate arguement can be made for Ribadu joining the ACN because of the many outstanding individuals who were already members before Ribadu joined.

Which Party should Ribadu join , with the spread and appeal of the ACN, to please the 'holier than thou' judges ? Should he join the thieving Party (PDP) that has gotten us where we are now ? Perhaps Ribadu should have gone to the ANPP to join Sharia warriors and Nearnderthal mullahs who still want to stone women to death? Why not go to newly formed CPC and rub shoulders with Abacha's son? If that happened will it not be folks like you accusing him of aligning himself with and accepting funds from the son of one of the most corrupt and brutal dictators in our history?  Please tell me Ribadu's options !!!!! The man has said the ACN is not about Tinubu . Rather it is about Fashola , Oshiomhole and the numerous progressive minded individual who make the ACN an Attractive package as per a Party that may be the automatic destination of those who want to move Nigeria forward .
Buddie, I have heard Ribadu give this explanation numerous times , the truth is Ribadu chose the short cut to success which is bound to fail. Ribadu for all he stood for should have started a movement cum political party and see how millions of youths and Nigerians would have trooped out for him. Tunde Bkare mentioned how they all tried to form one party ever before Buhari candidcay was even talked about , Ribadu was part of it and had the opportunity but he chose to go with ACN.

Fashola success has nothing to do with ACN but his personal brilliance, Ameachi is PDP but if i was in Rivers i will vote for him same as Danjuma Goje of Gombe. Please spare me this anti Abacha bravery of Fayemi as some of us who know the real truth behind all these "supposed nadeco" people know better. Oshiomole was a labour leader not anti corruption czar like Ribadu is. Ribadu joined ACN and started to send mixed messages. Firstly Bode George was not corrupt, then Bode George is corrupt, PAtience Jonathan is corrupt then she is not corrupt, Tinubu is corrupt then not corrupt, IBB is corrupt and you go dine with him, we want to change Nigeria and go to the same people responsible for our backwardness. Odili is corrupt and Odilli is bankrollin ACN in rivers with Sekibo as his stooge. Asari left ACN in Rivers because of Odili. Akume is corrupt and Akume becomes your chief campaigner in Benue. We could go on and on

The inconsistencies are too numerous to put the trust of Nigerias presidency in one man. Buhari chose the hard option to start his own party. A party with no councillor is now front runner in this election , this only shows hardwork pays and not short cut to success. Buhari is not rich but we the people are financing his campaign and not some god father like Tinubu is doing to Ribadu. Everyone knows the hard time Fashola faced from Tinubu and their are rumours Fashola had to part with 30 Billion to get a 2nd term endorsment from the godfather.

You dont seem to know the level of resentment against Tinubu even in ACN, some of my friends dad are top members of ACN and what they say about him is just sickening. Ribadu cannot even win Lagos and the Tinubu factor will be the reason.

We have had the best policies, technocrats and name it but looters and thieves will always siphon the money meant for you and me.

Kick out corruption plus good administration and Buhari will kick start Nigerias progress for the first time in 30 years.

Yes o Bros. I just concluded my rites too last night and should be heading home on Friday.
Aisha, there are different modes of voluntary fasting already in Islam. Mondays and Thursdays of every week, and the three middle days of every lunar month are some typical examples. So fasting has been part of the prayer modes of lots of muslim supporters of the BB ticket. We were even more encouraged by the 7days of fasting which preceded the BB campaign flag-off. So my sister, we have already began fasting even before you made the suggestion!
Wonderful bro, may the prayers be accepted. good u have internet access as i did not have for the 2 days i spent.

See as LAgosians trooped out to welcome Buhari , some from the island all the way to Ikeja. Somebody says buhari cannot win LAgos, we tell them we only need about 35% of the votes in Lagos. We dont need to win Lagos to win the whole election.

35% in Lagos, 30% in Oyo, 20% in Ogun and we shall coast home to victory. All we need is highest number of votes plus 25 % in at least 24 states across the 6 geo polititcal zones. NW, NE is safe for us 35% in the NC, if we make 30% of the SW at first ballot , Buhari is president and will be president God willing!!

These are the type of statements that make me conclude that Ribadu supporters are simply the classiest here and in possession of the most sophisticated viewpoint . You write as if this is all about Sainthood. What "true colours" are you on about? The truth is that Buhari may now be enjoying some swing votes from Ribadu supporters but most Ribadu fans who have switched to the BB camp , that I have spoken to, do not think less of Ribadu . In fact they still rate Ribadu as better than Buhari but wish to sacrifice personal choice for what is best for Nigeria because "it has become obvious that Ribadu has not had enough time to become a force in the North" enough to carry the day overall.

Buhari has had three decades , as a visible public administrator , to garner the support he now enjoys in the North so be fair and please spare us the sanctimonious noise that Buhari is gaining support because Nigerian youths now think less of Ribadu . Some folks are merely being pragmatic because they want the PDP out . It will do you well to remember that if Buhari does not win then he is finished and will have to leave the stage while life still has to go one for all us . You cannot clone Buhari and , wether you like it or not,  Ribadu , flaws and all, is simply a modern version of Buhari with better exposure and more technocratic skills. Both men have had to operate in different eras and in different roles . That is a very important factor we must consider before we can sincerely appraise them. When Buhari is gone we will see the back of the last "old soldier" and folks like you will pragmatically have to end your search for saintly messiahs because , as far as "good guys" go, we will then be left with Ribadu, Fashola, El Rufai, Duke, Oshiomhole , Amaechi et al. If you think all those guys , including Fashola who I respect highly , are more virtuous than Ribadu then I think you do not understand that a complete saint cannot operate effectively in Nigerian politics currently.
This has nothing to do with sainthood or anything like that, if you cut yourself out as something you want people to see you as that. Principles and consistency are the hallmarks of a great leader, I was a fan of Rïbadu, I saw him talk when he was in the UK, in fact i respect him for his courage. The moment he chose to run on ACN platform is the moment i started to backtrack , within 2 months he had made several contradictory statements on corrupt politicians. In life you compromise strategy but you never compromise prinicples IMO Ribadu has compromised prinicples or maybe he never had those principles in the first place.

Politics is not a do or die affair and even if Buhari loses life goes on and the struggle continues. If you understand politics you would understand that BB supporters putting Ribadu  down is all about politics. In fact if Buhari wins , Ribadu could serve in his adminstration. Ribadu also went on the offensive to Buhari at the debate and it is politics, Tinubu called Buhari an expired leader although he wanted to be his vice that is also politics. Hilary said Obama was not experienced and lashed out at him but today she is his secretary of state, Nick clegg finished of Cameron several times but today he is his Deputy. During electioneering everyone should have the stamina to withstand jabs and the game of politicking.

By and large it is good to know some Ribadau supporters are being realistic and now voting Buhari.

After the election dust will settle and life will go on.

IslamRe: Lagosboy : Forgiveness In Islam by Lagosboy: 4:40pm On Apr 05, 2011
In the name of Allah most gracious most merciful

Forgiveness in islam in terms of war is totally different from forgiveness in our daily affairs.

Islam is a practical religion and not an ultra idealistic superficial faith. In terms of war,war is war, when you are attacked you have to repel evil and oppression. In islam when your right is trampled upon or taken away from you , one has to fight for ones right and claim it back and this brings me to the issue of palestine. The palestinian lands have been illegally stolen and they have every right to fight for their rights. The occupied terriotories is deemed illegal by the UN and ICJ so there is no debate over that at all.

The doctor that forgave the killers of his children is a personal issue and does not mean anything in terms of a battle. If your people are killed you have to fight to save your children from being slaughtered and that is what Allah says in the quran. " . . . Why do you not fight in the cause of Allah and the weak among men, women and children whose call to their lord is our lord exit us from this town of which its inhabitants are opressors , , ," Q4 v 74-75

In our daily affairs it is different and all the verses at the begining of this thread applies and we have to forgive people of their faults as we beg Allah for forgiveness. However forgivenss does not stop resoration of ones rights as they are two different things entirely. Someone swindled me and I take him to court and tell the judge i have forgiven him but i want my money resotred to me and spare him from punishement. Same applies to a thief who stole someones money and begs Allah for forgiveness, Allah will forgive him but the forgivess does not replace the retribution of which he has to give the stolen goods back. This is a wide topic in islam and it is "forgiveness and expiation of sins". When one wrongs a fellow human being Allah will forgive him as long as the sinner begs the wronged person as well forgiveness and such is the justice of Allah.

It is better to to sin against oneself than to sin against other people, when one commits sin against oneself you can ask Allah for forgivenss and Allah can expiate your sins by whatever means he chooses but when you sin against others and you dont pay them back their rights or ask for their forgivenss, on day the day of judgement you will pay them back with your good deeds or if you dont have they will give you their bad deeds which brings me to the hadith of the prophet. ". . . The bankrupt of my ummah is he who comes on the day of judgement with lots of salah, fasting and good deeds but always slanders people, backbites, abusive or trampled on others rights e.t.c. he has to pay all this people back until his good deeds finishes and still indebted to people of which they will give him their bad deeds" We seek refuge from Allah from this!

This is just to show how important good character is in islam and when one is a muslim you have to treat people good and have a good character. You could have the longest hijab or beard and still be bankrupt on the day of judgement if you dont take care in your dealings with people.

I hope i havent confused anyone and please feel free to ask further questions if this is not clear.

And God indeed knows best.

This is an advise that I pray all Muslim women will listen to. It has led to the demise of Christian women in the west and now slowly creeping into Africa. But there are Christian women like myself and many of my friends who are countering this and trying to change it. Liberation my foot, all it has done is led women into becoming the sex slaves of men and in the open for that matter.
Very true and you have indeed spoken the truth. It is a shame what is happening to women, they have been reduced to marketing commodity in the name of liberation, sex objects in the name of freedom and unfortunately paraded on stage to be judged by some silly men as to who is the best under the guise of Beauty pageant. The dignity of our women has to be restored, as our women are our mothers, sisters, wives and are the bedrock of any successful society.
