Those ballistic missiles are wonders of science.

It would be unwise to start a war however. Nobody wins eventually.

By big rigs, I suppose you're referring to RVs, right? They're certainly great for their purposes but are in a different territory from what this van is made for. I get your point, though. The nomad life isn't for everyone. And yes, you're right, $43,000 should pay for a duplex in Nigeria. Wow.
Exactly why I referred to RVs in my first post.

How to identify a typical Nigerian; they don't read about a topic before commenting. angry angry

Firstly, it's a CAMPING VAN to provide travellers/campers with maximum comfort in the road. They never said it's a substitute for permanent apartment. Make una dey try read before una comment nau. angry angry

Secondly, travelling from Lagos to Maiduguri in this VAN will definitely be much more comfortable than travelling in normal vehicles (insecurity aside). That's the point! Unless of course you prefer to suffer, this is definitely a much more comfortable travelling car for those who can afford it. Calling it a waste of money (for those who can afford it) is a display of ignorance. Na new year be this abeg, make una dey think before una type. huh huh
Mr educated, thanks for taking the time out to explain. If you're so well read, perhaps you would learn to reflect on what you read and understand satire.

Needless to say, your 'typical' exotic citizenship inhibits you from such thinking.

You'd be wise to take some of your own medicine.

Valid points, that is until you realize how much this van is expected to cost.

They cost as much as a duplex but can't contain jack.

It has an estimated starting price of $43,000. Not quite the price of a duplex. You couldn't even buy the Ram Trackhawk with that.

Don't forget to offload your excrements and reload (limited) water ever 2 days as well.

This van comes with double strategically installed 10-liter tanks. One for clean water storage, and the other for waste water from the kitchen sink and stuff.

Buses for money miss road people smiley

😄😄It's actually for the Van Life. You know what that is, right?
I am familiar with the van life and that's the reason I said you have to offload your stuff every few days.

Talking about a duplex, $43,000 would build a duplex in Nigeria here. In comparison, if you're to go for the big rigs that are more spacious than this mid size van, you would be spending a pretty penny.
Car TalkRe: If You Have This Car, Your Days Of Fearing Landlord Is Over by laivwire(m):
In that case, move your wife and children plus yourself into the van. I believe y'all will live comfortably.

These RVs are just pointless to me. They cost as much as a duplex but can't contain jack. Tiny bed, tiny kitchen and living space. Don't forget to offload your excrements and reload (limited) water ever 2 days as well.

Buses for money miss road people smiley

Edit:

I think my 'money miss road' phrase is out of context, its more like people wey don chop belleful.

I smell something like rat here. That's how they hit us, all of a sudden, after making Google drive free to billions of users globally for years. After they allowed many to enjoy it for free and store heavy, important and sensitive files on Google drive, they now Limited the space one could occupy. Once you filled up the space, you'd have to pay to get more space. I see something similar happening here.
Thats correct. There's a massive downsizing on server space allotments. My single gmail account that I have been using for over 15 years to which all my mails, messaages, photos, contacts, youtube and chrome profiles , map timelines, wallets, bank accounts (you name it) are connected to got deleted because Google has limited the cloud storage available to organizations. It is worse than losing your phone or sim card.

Worse still, recovery is almost zero. You can't transfer data to another profile except to download your photos and a few other things.

I'm not convinced. There's something fishy going on with this Forbes valuation. Geregu is nowhere near sufficient to propel this guy to a $1bn net worth. Don't bother to mention the so-called FBN and Zenith Bank shares or so called property portfolio.

He can't possibly be as rich as Jim Ovia, for instance - who isn't in the list.
Valuation bro. Selling 20% stake in Geregu is bound to rocket up the valuation of the firm.

Besides we know what's happening with real estate in the West now. I'm assuming he's doesn't have a 3 bedroom but a bunch of skyscrapers at least. Monaco alone is a goldmine.

It is very possible. Sightings have been reported in multiple places. They are high up there but not in the same orbits as the ISS for example.

They don't glow. It's a reflection of the sunlight from their solar panels. The sky is supposed to be pitch black so light reflections will show.

Nice advert.

Back then in school, this car reigned. One rich kid had a clean 1999. He drives in high-speed circles within the big car park carrying all sorts of human beings with him grin

Another quiet lad studying medicine usually brought a very clean 2001 xle to school. Leather, wood trims, blue colour complete with the rear trunk lip, some aftermarket 16-inch wheels and always chilling AC. Damn, that car was cool.

Not a bad idea to have a very clean example as a daily driver today.

Everyone is talking about insecurity. Do you want policemen to stand guard for over farmers farms?

This kind of project would be on large hectarages of land using some form of farmer cooperative model. Projects like this have been ongoing in Nigeria with no issues.
Bandit attacks will be contained in such projects. My only grouse is to get lower income farmers in the mix as well. These projects always go to the big farmers, lobbyists, politicians and business men not smallholder farmers who really need them.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Skills Now Taking Over Degrees by laivwire(m): 10:04pm On Jan 06, 2024
I think degrees get you the job and skills get you higher up. Lets take data analysis as an example, HRs will more likely pick Data science grads over Coursera certificate holders.

As for skills, that's what you use to climb up the ladder. And it's not about knowing these skills, it's about mastering them.

Another thing; high demand skills =/= high income skills. High-demand skills mean many companies are looking for them, this usually happens with all the craze of AI and software engineering. There can be high demand but also high supply.

High income is when you have become an unmatched guru in that field. For what it's worth, a skill may not be high in demand but if you are a master in that niche, you will be paid some cold hard cash for your wizardry.

TravelRe: Stop Going To France To Study If You Are Not Finacially Okay: My Personal Story by laivwire(m): 10:16pm On Jan 05, 2024
I have always come back to read this thread year upon year before and after getting to France and I better understand what Electro talked about.

Electromagnito, you went through A LOT. How can you spend so much on French class and you didn't get CROUS? I just can't imagine being penniless in such a harsh place.

Something people don't talk about in Nairaland is the low wages in France compared to other top European countries like UK and Germany. At €9.50/hour (€760/month), you have more than simple financial management responsibilities on your hands. 20 hours/week in combination with studies, your body will shake. That is even if you find a 20 hours/week job in which case, you barely have anything to save after removing rent, food, phone bills and sending something back home. People earning 600k/month in Nigeria are living more comfortably than many in France.

I try not to discourage Nigerians from thinking of migrating to France but think deeply about it. Make it a second option if you can. Too many migrants, and the far right are fighting back. Policies are being changed and turning unfavourable. African kids who are raised in-country (Primary to tertiary) and speak French like their mother tongue are having to look for greener opportunities in UK and Canada.

Every person has their priorities as well but learning French solely to get a job in France is not a top of priority in my opinion. You can gain fluency enough to communicate (which can be tasking) but can you learn up to a professional level in 2 years? Like I said, it depends on the person.

Look at how unprofessional you sound. It's only common sense not to read out your slides when giving a presentation. If you weren't so lazy as to do only copy and paste, perhaps you would have delved into more oral detail and just posted your video as a blog post. Of course, I didn't watch to the end because you almost literally lifted your copy off another site which I found with a simple Google search.

No empirical research was done; you just copy text, slam a bunch of stock pictures on top, do a voice-over (of the same text) and call it a YouTube video. Even took the same text and posted it word for word on Nairaland. Yet in the end you would want people to subscribe to your channel when you can't even learn from readers' feedback.

@aysnoopy

It's understandable that things look bleak but you have to hold on to what you have for now. Don't step down the ladder expecting to jump higher. You should take higher steps from your current position.

Complete your education. If you don't see prospects for improvement in your current career, look for hard skills to learn as a career switch or side business. You should know that considerable time and effort have to be invested in mastering a new skill before people will pay you good money for it.
