Sir you might want to review your claim that this car is the EVO series. All I see here is the basic GLS/ES series judging from the dashboard and body kit. Maybe a picture of the engine bay might help clear my doubt.

The EVO/RALLIART series are distinct in body kits, engine and cabin stylings.

Bro Biko I beg of you. Never you compare a Mercedes benz 3.2 litre engine in a coupè to a Honda 3.0 v6 in a sedan. This car will dust an Eod V6 anytime & any day.
You can only compare it with Honda Anaconda 3.5 Litre v6 engine. which is obviously faster.
My elder Bro as a Hustler, used to own this clk320 way back in his undergraduate years & trust me, this car PULLS. Very fast and well balanced with minimal body roll.

That car but more respectably the DC is one of the fastest average cars you find around. On paper, it will beat the clk. Yes there are advantages of RWD for stability in the Benz as well as more quality build materials but the Honda will edge this 2001 clk320.

In my books today, it can't be called a speed demon anymore.

oga in as much as i don't agree with the OP about the price, the 3.2 litre v6 engine (same engine found in ML320) in this coupè body makes this car one of the fastest coupè in that era b4 the introduction of clk430.
The W208 Clk 1999-2003 came in 5 engine variants:
(1) Clk200= Very fuel efficient but lacks enough power.
(2) Clk230 kompressor= Good fuel efficiency with Turbo.Faster than clk200.
(3) Clk320=Surprisingly Fuel efficient with a high torque & very good HP.
(4) Clk430=A Beast with a V8 engine too big for that coupè body.
(5) Clk55AMG= NO COMMENT. Go do the math.

I'm glad you said in that era which is about 20 years ago. Can this car compete with EOD V6 variants which happens to be an average car on the roads today? Mind you we are talking about a Nigerian used example whose engine may not be churning out 100% power anymore. He can place whatever price he wishes, I'm only asking what speed he's talking about as if he uploaded a porsche up there.

Former employees have been complaining long ago about Abdulhammed's atrocities.

In countries like Zimbabwe, Diesel is cheaper than Petrol.

Besides our diesel here is so poorly refined. The technology is also not as as widespread as Petrol so kazeems will have a hard time with it.

But think about it, how many times in a car lifetime do you need to tinker with the engine block of you do due diligence with maintenance. Quite low.

All in all, as a private use diesel sedan owner, I'll be half expecting you want to use your ride till it dies not flipping it to buy another.

Let me share a short story. I visited a friend in Kaduna last December and saw this car, very clean example, sitting in his compound among other cars. He uses a 2001 Toyota Camry xle.

I asked why he doesn't use the Ford and he explained. The Ford belongs to his uncle based in Canada. Uncle comes once a year and uses the car but he's free to drive it around anytime.

So one day, he takes darling Ford on a trip to Kano. On his way back, he discovers the brake pads were worn. Worn so bad it's making noise when he depresses the brakes. He manages the car to Zaria, parks and gets a mechanic. They comb the entire Zaria but can't find replacement pads.

He decides he won't sleep in Zaria and will drag the vehicle to Kaduna. It's just about 75km. On arrival at Kawo, Kaduna, the brakes are so gone he's using handbrakes to stop the car moving at snail speed. He couldn't get the car home so drops it off at another mechanic workshop.

Long story short, the wheel discs have warped as well. To get brake pads and Discs they had to resort to Lagos. Bill? 6 figures excluding waybill to kaduna

He later learned his uncle brings along as many spare parts with him when coming from Canada. Well, car is sitting beautifully in his compound and he won't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Car was brought in with perfect working condition, but as fuel pump spoil, owner took it to wrong kazzem instead of qualified auto technician. Naso e spoil the engine small small from fuel pump. Now technician says he has to change the engine. Kazeem still dey station sha.

Engine is available in Nigeria with a year warranty for 1.1m from the technicians and also ladipo.

Vehicle was moved from lekki to Oshodi(current location)

Why will someone give an S4 to a kazeem?

Brand new of this thing is less than 200k on online stores. Definitely cheaper at walk-in stores. Why are we Nigerians like this for Pete's sake.

I wish I can get this ride and chop off the rear 3rd row compartment el camino style. Give it some mad suspension springs and fat off road michelin tyres.

Replace the front bumper with a iron tow bar. Give it a snorkel along with some matte black vinyl wrap. Install HID lights and run straight pipes to that engine.

Of course, interior will be swapped with hand stitched leather and good surround bass.

The most reliable of the lot would be the IS and G35.
Subaru and their reliability na case... The most potent and most driver focus is G35.. The fastest till 120km/h will be Is350. That said, if you need a faster car, 335i bmw will annihilate the G35.

I've been running my research on close alternatives to the 2007 G35x and few options pop up.

-Lexus IS350
-Subaru Legacy Gt
-of course, the Acura tl

But truth is the G35x trashed them all on the power front although the Acura has more advantage in terms of styling. The Subaru is quite close in terms of performance but design and build quality falls short.

The G35 is simply the most car for money in that price bracket for petrolheads.

HeavenlyBang, you stated the 335i will beat the g35. You still stand by that fact?

I don't know if anyone has had first hand experience with the Subaru legacy gt though but I know maintenance of such in Nigeria can be hell.
