menix:That your advice is WRONG and has no legal basis. Dont put him in more trouble than he can handle! How would someone who paid for three months be entitled to six months notice? Are you not also aware that you still have to pay your rent (as long as you are still in the house) during the Notice period? ask Lawyers, if you think l am wrong. Lastpage! |
Okay, l have seen new information that was not there before. So, you are owing January rent already? Why now? You cant afford a Lawyer, so that wont help you. Best Options: *Beg your Landlady to give you more time, say House is difficult to get and you dont even have enough money to rent a new house now. Tell her to give you till June. Look for another house as quickly as possible. *Go to the Mediation Center for help. She CANT remove your things without a Court Order but your owing rent makes that order easier to get. She will get that Court order within a few Months, after your Notices has expired. Incase she refuse all begging, then tell her you CANT MOVE OUT NOW, unless a Court asks you to! ![]() That will give you like 3-6Months. Pay your rent during those periods, Judges dont like owing tenants at all. ![]() Dont mind those people telling you that you are entitled to six months notice, it is false. Sorry for your plight. Lastpage! |
sexysegggs:We have not heard from your Landlady so all these story might just be one-sided, made to make your Landlady look bad. But then, let us give you the benefit of doubt. Questions: 1.) How long have you been in this same house? 2.) Do you pay yearly or Monthly? Your last payment was from when-to-when? 3.) Do you have a rent receipt? 4.) Are you owing any rent before now? 5.) How many people are in that house, that use the same bathroom? 6.) Was that "discussion about who should bath first" with your Landlady, done in an "aggressive tone" or with decorum (gentle manner)? Now, There are three routes: Long Route 1: if you are a yearly tenant, your Landlady MUST give you SIX MONTHS NOTICE, to quit. If you pay monthly, then you are only entitled to One Month Notice. After that, she will give you another One MONTH, if you are still there, then ONE WEEK after which she will go to court to seek an EVICTION ORDER (Must be issued by a Court). The Court will serve you a NOTICE to hear your own side of the story and may make or not make that order. Long Route 2: Go to the nearest Mediation Centre to your house and inform them of this situation. They will invite your Landlady and ask her to state her case. Their duty is to help both of you reach a reconciliation/agreement, without going to court. They dont take cases that are already in court so you must decide which one you want (Court or Mediation) Short Route: Ask someone to speak with your Landlady and tell her that you were no trying to "cause her trouble" but just trying to find a way that you and her can have your baths without disturbing each other. Explain to her that it just happens that she wants to bath when you also want to bath and that can she give you a particular time she thinks the bathroom will be available for you to bath before you go to work in the morning, without conflicting with hers? Try sooth her ego, beg her and act the "foolish" for now, since you are not in a position to rent another house now and l know what "stress and anxiety" it is causing you right now. I hope one of these methods works for you. Lastpage! BTW: other underhand tactics: a.) If she get "matured daughter", befriend her and impregnate her (be ready to marry her sha o!).... you are now her in-law and she cant throw you out! ![]() b.) If she be "Fine Mama" and you nor mind, befriend her and your rent might just be "paid upfront" for as long as you dey knack correct-correct! But keep the House rents somewhere because the day wey she vex, you will need the money to rent another house, in a jiffy! ![]() NB: I do not endorse any of the last two strategies even though they work like a charm, l saw them in my dreams! It wasn't me.... ![]() |
Remii:Your head dey there well-well. Lastpage! |
waterhouse071:I agree with you. What are we/Govt doing with the saved money? How about setting it aside (not to be looted again!) and using it to build a brand new refinery.... or a Petro-Chemical Plant so we can refine Petroleum Products for local consumption and export? Lastpage! |
I see your "hand work" Oooo! You know urself naah! ![]() Lastpage! |
praise010:Someone have said that "the Greatest Obstacle to fighting corruption in Nigeria, are the CORRUPT JUDGES THEMSELVES". How does one curtail Armed robbery when the Police that is supposed to arrest them is also a Robber? Corruption is really fighting back.... and winning in some cases. "Corruption is Nigeria is os deep and hydra-headed that it will take a miracle and loads of good-will of the populace, to tame it to an appreciable level Lastpage! |
AyakaDunukofia: For YOU, every problem in Nigeria "starts and ends" with your I.PO.D! Cant you say something else that is more intelligent? No be only spiritual, na celestial! ![]() Lastpage! |
Alanzazani:Keep quiet joor, even Obama who is a Professor of Law, has Speech Writers!. 9pm-10pm is the recommended time for anyone to go to bed, after working all day...... except you are a night marauder sha. The President is facing an enormous task, both internally and externally (where looted funds and assets are kept) and he is trying his very possible best, with his assistant Oshibajo/Ministers, to get things going and here you are, #WAILING like a spoilt child. Abeg park well, if you dont like it, Port to Somalia. No be only Business as usual, .........go and ask Dasuki or Olisah metuh, whether it is business as usual. ![]() Lastpage! |
anath:So, you have now been appointed to speak for and on behalf of the President, .....that you know Nigeria irritates him? I am sure this is another "low one" for the #Wailers and #SaTANoids Anyway, keep it up,.... 2023 is still a long way off Lastpage! |
EroticAngelina:The world can do without such senseless being. ![]() His pr.i.ck eventually killed him! ![]() Lastpage! |
Adaeze003:GBAM! This is the rule of "Ab initio" in this matter! You should not legislate on a problem that does not exist 'ab initio! WOMEN and MEN have ALWAYS BEEN EQUAL. Lastpage! |
obasiken:FIXED! ![]() See, truth is "you cant eat your cake,.... and still have it". You cant claim not to be part of a place, and at the same time be competing with those who are part thereof, for development. Why should Nigeria waste money to build a Bridge for "another country" Life is not like that. Come back to your "family" and enjoy the benefits of being "children of the family". Otherwise, wait for "Dilector". ![]() Just joking! I trust PMB and Fashola will look into the 2nd Niger Bridge ASAP Expect good things to begin to happen in the S.East, this year, once we can clear the initial misunderstandings Lastpage! |
debetmx:I thought my eyes were deceiving me! Further wasting the people's time and money on frivolities. As for that Bishop, he will be exposed, just like Pastor Ajanaku was exposed at the end of the day. he should be the one advising the Governor to get to work, come to church on Sunday and Thank God Lastpage! |
gcode123:See "factual Explanation" Kwa? Okay, l wont go into arguments with you. ![]() Lastpage! |
Ohamzee:Women have been more cunning than men, from the time of Adam! Even worse, some foolish men, so ignorantly, think they are fighting the "cause of women" as a "weaker shex", when in reality, they are being "used and dumped", for emasculating their fellow men. Its so strange and funny that "some men" could be this unintelligent! ![]() But such is Life, even Biblical Adam proved that men are weaker (emotionally,) than women and women use this weakness to their advantage! ![]() It is also strange that in the "Western Countries" we are trying to copy, they are beginning to realise their mistake and are redressing some of these laws! For example, "Equality Laws" have been used to prevent Men from seeing their children, if the parents are unmarried. It has been used to allow a woman terminate Pregnancy, without the consent of her man/husband, by claiming it's her body! Now, Western countries are seein gthe injustice they met on the menfolk and trying to correct it. Yet ,here we are in Africa, we are trying to swallow the bait, hook, line and sinker, in 2016! ![]() Anyway, "Water has a way of finding its level, it is only those whose houses are low-lying. that would have to pay the price first". ![]() Lastpage! |
Mamatee07:Like l said earlier, if there are "pockets" of discrimination (which even still happens even in Western Countries), LAWS need to be strengthened. I have sisters and we all shared our parents 'ESTATES' EQUALLY, upon their demise so l dont know where you come from that you dont allow your female siblings to inherit land? Your examples are ignorantly puerile, to put it mildly! assuming there are no murders in Africa, then it is actually stewpid, to make laws against it ....in Africa. ![]() That is the concept of "ab initio" that l mentioned earlier, which you failed to comprehend. Assuming "One child" failed in a class, it does not mean the whole class has failed and they all have to repeat that class...... That "failure child" is the one that needs to being attended to. The Law maker is saying: Look, that problem is not preponderant here, to the point of making "new laws' against it; we just need to strengthen the ones we have to tackle little pockets of infractions. But then, any sensible person knows that "these Equal rights Bill" is more than just about "equal right", ...it is just a convenient excuse for something more sinister.... We've seen it in the Western countries, in the past. ![]() Lastpage! |
DiademSh07:We've hear enough about what Achebe wrote. Now is that the only thing you've got to say, all day? ![]() The question is not about whether what Achebe wrote, is true or not. Ooginni? Lastpage! |
TippyTop:Use your head! It is not a crime ot own a house in Dubai, the CRIME is "IF" the property was bought with STOLEN or LOOTED GOVERNMENT MONEY. All they need do is show proof od the source of money used to buy the property. End of story. Those who cant show proof, will get their property confiscated. |
Mamatee07:You got it wrong. You dont try to solve "a problem that does not exist" ab initio! He is saying We Nigerians/Africans dont discriminate against our women, we give them their place of pride in our socio-cultural environment thus, it is "Un-African" to even consider making laws against women's discrimination because that problem does not exist with us"! You copy now? Comprehendi?? ![]() Thanks for meditating on it. Lastpage! |
DiademSh07:Please STOP! STOP this tribal line! I have seen "men from other tribes "fight with their wife" (I said "fight" because l have alos seen and listened to some "Men complain about how their wife beats them, ...........not because they can beat back but they just dont enjoying the physical assault!) It cuts across tribes. Go to any customary court and hear wetin dey happen. You will realize that "violence" is not constrained to one tribe or to one GENDER. But women like to always "play the victim". ![]() Lastpage! BTW: I am Yoruba, not Ibo |
DiademSh07:You people should leave "tribe" out of this discussion (l know yo did not start it) because in ALL TRIBES, there are women, so it cuts across. Tribe has nothing to do with the topic. The question has to do with "whether women are treated equally or not, in Nigeria". Let us feckin debate the issue and not resort to the usual tribal feisty-cuffs please. ![]() Apologies for my language. Lastpage! |
Fanirandele:Did you read the post at all? -The Speaker was a 'male' -the Bill was read and contributions were taken (as an example, one male member gave his stand on it) -The Leader of the house "tactically" asked the sponsor not to go forward with the Bill because he knew it will be defeated (and cant be presented again) thus saving her from the embarrassment. In politics, it is safer to "withdraw", than to suffer "open defeat". Think! Think!! Think!!! Lastpage! |
gcode123:Can you please "factually explain" how our Mothers and Sisters are perpetually seen as "sub citizens" in Nigeria? I like people who can "reasonably and logically defend" what they say, it shows they are intelligent. ![]() Oya, go on and explain. Lastpage! |
Holyman3:Stop your ignorance dude. Stay in School, long enough "OBA" Akiolu holds whatever power he holds, because it was "conferred on him" by his cultural heritage. he is the Oba, not his wife! Same goes for an Emir, Sultan of Sokoto or the Obi of Onitsha There are places where Women are the "Obas" (Regent/Queen) and men who are their subjects, serve them like they would serve any other Oba. If my wife is the CEO of a Company or she is a Military General in the Army, does her "rights and responsibility" also extend to me? Can l head the AGM or lead a battallion, simply because my wife is such? ![]() Dont get things mixed-up! Its has nothing to do with "Gender Equality", Genders are not and should not be at war! There is a reason we are created differently..... so we can COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER. Even "lower animals" know ......and understand this. ![]() Lastpage! |
charix:It is a fallacy, to say "Men and Women are already not EQUAL" in Nigeria of TODAY! *Women have risen to the highest level they can attain in Nigeria, without this Bill. *We have Women like Dora Akinyilu (RIP), Okonjo Iweala, Dezziani Allison Madueke, e.t.c who have attained highest public office they can attain. *No one stopped them. There are uncountable "Women C.E.O's of Big organizations, no one said they cant be , because they are women? *Nobody in present day Nigeria says a Girl child cant go to school. *No employer discriminates against a female employer or nowhere in the Nigerian constitution is it written that Women cant be Pilots, Military officers, e.t.c *No one has prevented any woman in Nigeria from starting her own Business simply because she is a woman! *In this current Govt, there are many "women Ministers" who we are proud of. So, all these noise about WOMEN EQUALITY is just a "hidden agenda" for other nefarious intentions. WOMEN are EQUAL.... and will ALWAYS BE EQUAL TO MEN in Nigeria. But what we wont accept is women, surreptitiously using EQUALITY as a TOOL to debase men, usurp "men's freedom and right" and generally turn them into "cowardly weaklings" so as to make them shiver at the sight of women, as we see in western countries where a woman can slap a man right in the face, for no reason and he can do nothing! Yesterday on Nairaland, a Husband lost FOUR TEETH.... just protecting his wife! Read it here: https://www.nairaland.com/2923306/man-loses-teeth-fight-neighbour What else should a man do, to show respect for women, or is it until Women turn men to foot mart? Some women are just EVIL and want to drive a wedge between the genders. We can both cohabit in a mutually beneficial manner and not engage in a war of sexes, as is the case Abroad/Western countries. If there are specific cases, like "spousal abuse", there are laws to deal with these and those laws can even be strengthened, if need be. I love women, l respect women, l appreciate women and see them a s MY EQUAL HUMANS (though our Genders are different, we are different, not the same but complementary) but l also think Nigerian women should know better than to follow the "Western route" of emasculating their Men. It creates BIGGER problems, down the Road My Take! Lastpage! |
Dieumerci:Thank you Sir, ...........just got back from a long BAN! The "Political Section Moderators" do take their job of banning me, at the slightest opportunity, very seriously! ![]() Anyway, its all comedy-relief. Lastpage! |
ISpiksDaTroof:You have raised a lot of very important issues for our Judicial system as a whole. Honestly, l want to thank this Government of Buhari for being very NICE and TOLERATING! I also want to appreciate those Uniformed men for "staying cool", despite the provocations from Kanu and his supporters. I watched about TEN VIDEOS of Nnamdi Kanu, one after another and l saw the same thing: A young man who is trying too hard to impress his followers by being very rude, insulting and arrogant towards "Uniformed Govt officials". I saw a man who was aggressively angry and constantly transferring his anger unto the Warders and Uniformed Security details of the System. I am just wondering what he would do, if those officers are like the overzealous types in the USA, and they tried to "implement court procedures" by forcefully removing those bangles? Is he gonna beat them? He is lucky that he is not in the USA! Just imagine any "accused" shouting at, insulting and denigrating an FBI Agent, within the court premises? He will be subdued immediately, using lethal force if need be. Just one "choke hold" and Kanu will never open his filthy mouth again! Many have died in the process. But because we live in an environment where we tolerate rubbish, he seems to be getting away with it, every time. Even his supporters are insulting and harassing Uniformed security operatives and being generally rancorous within court premises! Chai, now l know this Govt is really bending over backwards for this man. When you are in a Law Court, you cant be shouting orders at Security details. It is out of oder. It costs him nothing to speak to these officers, (who by the way are just doing their jobs), nicely ...but the "Ibo" in him will not let that happen. BTW: One day he was shouting that his "BANGLES are too tight, the next day they are upside down and then the next, he doesnot want to remove them! ![]() All in an effort to portray himself as "being in-charge"? ![]() I guess the Judges must be laughing themselves hoarse at his petulance ..... but they know they are waiting for him, that time when he wants to be released on bail! That is when they will show him "Who is in charge"! ![]() One thing l know is that until his case is decided, he is never going to make bail, even if the case takes the next four years...and those officers he is insulting publicly, will be his "minders" throughout those period! I really pity him! ![]() Lastpage! |
alcmene:Take a closer look at the "Politics Section Moderators"! ![]() Lastpage! |
