He has a point. Give him the chance to prove it. When the president was busy shortchanging his people he did not know that they hold what he might need to move Nigeria forward. Right now Uba wants to prove to him that "if you know this one, you may not know the other". Those accusing Uba of being unpatriotic should know that patriotism is not remembered when Uba's kinsmen were abandoned at the bus stop when the bus still has empty seats. Uba wants reintegration and then the economic woes will be over. Lesson: Don't underrate anybody, group or tribe in a theatrical setting like Nigeria. God bless Uba!
Uba and his blackmailers can shove it up their "you-know-what".
He does not deserve any recognition and would NEVER get it from PMB.

The only place he will get that recognition is at Kudje Prsion, when EFCC come after those who used Arms Money to set-up that propaganda organisation called TAN (SaTANoids).

Mboi:
Yes it is because of Buhari's cluelessness. He called BDCs thieves and fraudsters and directed CBN to stop selling dollars to them that is why we have fake free fall of Naira thereby causing hardship to the massess. According to them, selling forex to BDCs depletes Nigeria's forex reserve. CBN released news that they will start selling dollars again to BDCs @ $400,000 every week because they have seen the impact of removing them from business coupled with what Ifeanyi Uba said and the naira started appreciating immediately.
So if Bubu is not clueless he will know that BDCs play very vital role in Nigerian economy in terms of foreign exchange.
In a week, a commercial bank can have forex demand from it's customers of about $90m to $500m, since CBN does not sell enough forex to commercial banks, they use BDCs to meet their customers demands for forex.
Your ignorance nor get "Part 2"!.

The slight appreciation was because:

Price of Crude Appreciated a little bit in the last two days.
This was so because Russia and Saudi Arabia have agreed to peg output ...... (though Iran has not yet agreed to do same) being th emajpr producers around that end of the world.
This means Nigeria has "earned" more Dollars.
The more Dolars we earn, the more buoyant our own currency.
This is what Ubah and the rest of you will never understand.
grin grin

On BDC,
Some Directors of CBN have opened "BDC Shop" where they channel the Dollars Nigeria earns from sale of Crude, at OFFICIAL RATE.
They then sell this at the Black market rate, making a fortune!

This is why Govt said you cant take Dollars from us at #199.... and then go to sell at #400 to the Public! Source your Dollars yourself, if all you want to be doing is "rent-taking".
Even their "deposit" has been returned to them, as of today.

Even Banks that get forex from the CBN at #199, have been diverting such Dollars to those BDC Mallams, to sell at #400!..... and share the profit between themselves.

There are too many Criminals in this country and "Democracy" seems too lenient if not incapable, of dealing with them!
What Nigeria needs is a "DEDICATED, PATRIOTIC BUT BRUTAL DICTATOR" like Jerry Rawlings of Ghana, to come for just TWO YEARS, TO CLEAN THE COUNTRY and HAND OVER TO A CIVILIAN GOVT.

Criminals numbering into their tens of Millions cant be "handled effectively", using "Rule of Law"

Kenai:
And who are you going to thank for all the Nigerians the soldiers have massacred? From the women to the infants, peasants to the elderly, young and old? Who are you going to thank for all the defenseless people the soldiers have gone in to murder, in their towns and in the streets, in their homes and in their sleep?
Who are you going to thank for all the unaddressed cases where soldiers who are meant to defend us are killing us like rats, and wiping out ENTIRE villages simply because one of their operatives was killed by unidentified people?

You thank these soldiers for this BARBARIC show they put up here? Believe me, I hate the police MORE than you possibly could, but are they wrong in this case?
Was the soldier right to have parked at an unauthorised area?
People with your attitude encourage dictators, despots and people with zero respect for diplomacy simply because of their posts
.
Don't let your emotions blind you.
The soldiers were WRONG.
Most people hate the Police (and for good reasons too) .... except the Police themselves! shocked

Now, l am agreeing with you that we dont need to thank the Soldiers for putting some "beating" into those Police men, they just did what they need to do.
Lets us work on what was written:

1.) Soldier was wrong to park wrongly at an unauthorised place.

2.) DPO saw it... What should be the next thing, if that DPO was a civilised person?

a.) He should either ask the owner to remove the vehicle IMMEDIATELY
b.) Issue a Ticket to the offender and let him go and pay into Govt coffers.
That is how it is done by civilised "Law enforcement officers"

But as usual, the DPO, in their usual unnecessary show of power,
1.) wants to IMPOUND the Vehicle
2.) Detain the owner!

What then wonders, why is the above two things necessary, .... just for WRONG PARKING offence?
Ofcourse, l dont need to be a soothsayer to point out that the Police will ALWAYS try to make a Mountain out of any small infraction, just so they can EXTORT MONEY out of the arrested persons.
The Police are known not to even listen to anyone, to ascertain what happened, before hauling everyone in sight, into their cell, with "hardened" Criminals ...... only to ask you to "come and settle us" to release your people!

So, the DPO was WRONG on those two accounts.

Again, lets go further by the account given:
3.) The Soldier then identified himself to the DPO, but the DPO (who was probably drunk as early as 11am! ...my opinion) start insulting him and asking him how many wars he has fought!

Now, there is something we call "espirit de corps" with the "security apparatus" (Military, Police, SSS, e.t.c).
The doctrine is that "we are one and the same and we will assist each other wherever possible, as long as it is lawful".
In line with that Doctrine, l will not expect an Army to be fighting a Navy in public, or a Police to be fighting an Air Force or anyone in the "forces".
As a "force personnel" to another, you are expected to show some understanding and treat whatever the problem is, "privately" out of public eyes.
But this DPO, by showing disregard to a serving Army Captain, is showing disregard to the whole Armed Forces, including the Police Force!

How many times have you seen a Senior Naval officer, fighting say another Senior Air-force Officer IN PUBLIC?
There are channels by which such people can resolve their differences without bringing the "armed forces" into shame.

So, apart from trying to extort the officer, apart from the DPO abusing his powers, apart from the DPO being unnecessarily uncouth, he has also abused his Uniform/Power by trying to make an illegal arrest and detention.
Now, imagine what this osrt of "Power-Drunk" DPo has been doing to "Ordinary Civilians" ..... if he would this much disrespect a fellow officer?
Even when he was begged by onlookers, he still insists on arresting the captain! For what?
Parking offnce that attracts the equivalent of $60 in any sane, foreign country?
..... Or do they arrest you for illegal parking in America/UK/Europe? No, they simply give you a FINE (parking Ticket) but our DPO wants to show "Power", like he is tin-god!

Finally, Two Wrongs dont make a Single Right.

The Captain should have allowed his vehicle be impounded and himself locked-up by the power-drunk DPO! grin grin
But l guess that was not much of an "alternative".

I say, serves this DPO Right".

Once the Man has identified himself, you need to calm down and deal with the matter with tack, knowing that he is not an ordinary Civilian whom you are used to harassing because they (Civilians dont have guns).
Part of Police training is on how to "de-escalate issues" so you can manage it (thats is why l suspect that the DPO was drunk already!).

Cant the DPO just take the officer details (from his I.D card) and report him at the nearest military formation, so the military police (MP) can discipline him?
Now, you might ask: Is the Army above the law? answer is "NO". Not even the President.
But will a DPO try to arrest his Commissioner of Police, impound his Car and put him in a cell for wrong parking? Not a fat Chance!
So, why try to do it to a serving soldier........ if not just because of been Power Drunk and a bloated ego?

Lesson learned!
You can mess with ordinary civilians (even though it is wrong!) but think twice when it is another "armed forces officer".

Let the Police men go to the Army barracks to go and release their DPO, if dem get liver naah! :
-\ grin grin

@Army Captain, l take God beg you, if you dey read this: You know Nigerian Police (they are our Enemies Friends). Try and allow the Man to go, in the doctrine of 'espirit de corps'..... he would have learnt his lessons by now (I know you guys treated him very well while in your custody! grin ).
Dont bring the Army to the level of the Police. No "unnecessary" muscle flexing. Respects. LET HIM GO , PLS
And please tell your cadets to also respect the civilians, it is pure, sheer cowardice (like this DPO) to harass people (civilians) without guns, if na "boyz" wey come operate and them carry Luger, then you are free to discharge at will.

A word is enough.....
If we all recall, when Buhari was in London for the Syria Appeal fund (and his Medical Checkup), he faced a Question & Answer session with Nigerians living in the U.K and the issues of Naira Exchange rate and Closing of BDC's was asked.

The President openly stated that the Exchange rate was being MANIPULATED by a few people, ...and he mentioned the issue of CBN Directors owning Burea De Change, and then syphoning the "Govt Dollars", to their own BDC, at Govt/Official rate, ........to now sell in the Black market thereby making fantastic profit.

if anyone has Dollars to sell, let them sell it at the Black market or Whatever rate, that is not Govt's problem.
But no one should be allowed to take Dollars from the CBN...... and then take to sell at the Black Market

We all know this problem will fissile-out in a few months time, if the President can hold on and weather the storm from these #Wailers.

Some of these traders are very well informed, some call the source at every morning to know prices before they sell off their stock, to avoid long stories. I don't blame them for the increase, I blame the system.
True, the "system" is not perfect but "We Nigerians' are expert at EXPLOITING ourselves!

Everyone, from Beans seller, Gari seller, even sachet "pure water" uses the Dollar exchange rate as an excuse to exploit their fellow Nigerians by arbitrarily increasing prices of their commodities, AT WILL.

Now, tell me why a Landlord should not increase his own house rent "AT WILL", if he buys Cement at price that was increased "at will", Iron and Labour prices that were increased "at will", e.t.c

But the question is: Did he just build the house when the rate of Dollar increased?
Landlord then asks you the same question: Did you just plant the beans he buys, or the Garri he buys or the pure water he buys, when the rate of Dollar just increased? If the answer is "No", then why increase those prices "at will"?

So, We Nigerians are greedy opportunists and the only language we understand is "Price Control".
if the Government does not intervene by controlling prices at a reasonable level, we will end up causing "artificial inflation" and then turn around to blame the same Government, for our own GREED and Opportunism.

Everyone can justify a Price Increase, if you allow them.

I agree with you Oga. The concept of our perceived high cost of building is just because of the economic situation of the country. I don't think cost of construction in Nigeria are overtly expensive compared to other countries with similar variables. I stand to be corrected.

But it's a good thing to always be on the lookout for cheaper and better ways of doing things..

I just wonder each time l hear the phrase "High cost of building in Nigeria".

On average, a 2/3 bed room block of four flats, costs about #20M-#25Million, depending on finishing.
if we add the cost of land, say another #5Million on the average.
So, that gives a total price of Maximum #30Million (FOUR Flats of 2/3bedroom House, including cost of land)
Now, that is about $75,000 ....but let us round it up to $100,000 (one hundred thousand Dollars, after adding $25,000 excess!)

Question is: Are we aware that A SINGLE FLAT out of the Four Flats, will cost anyone no less than $180,000 (if not more, Brand New... I am not talking about Bankruptcy / Distress Sales here. undecided

Now, multiply that by FOUR...Which means same Flat will cost you no less than $700,000, in the United States, not to mention additional costs like Stamp Duty, Legal fees, e.t.c, that you MUST pay, to acquire your house.

So, where is the "HIGH Cost of Building Nigeria" coming from?

Brilliance9000:
Ngozi is no fool...she knows whom to serve with. Obasanjo, Jonathan...yes. Buhari...No...he still a dictator, won't listen to advice!
Ngozi knew, that unlike Goodluck Jonathan, her "identified weakness" would not be tolerated and used to allow "people" to loot and embezzle, as they were doing under Jonathan.

I also suspect that Ngozi may feel intimidated by the personality of Buhari.

We all know Buhari is staunchly "Pro-Nigeria" while NOI is strongly "Pro-Bretton-Woods establishments" (like the IMF, World Bank, e.t.c).
Thus, when "push comes to shove" and the Brenton-Woods establishments want to cripple Nigeria, based on their usual, faulty economic formula (like the Structural Adjustment programme SAP or devaluation of the National currency, to the benefit of the Western World while Nigerians groan in pain),
There is certainly bound to be a "clash of ideas and personality" and trust me, Buhari will not think twice before putting her in her place
moreover, the position of Vice President is "advisory", compared to the executive powers of a President.

Its good to have insights on how the "king makers" think, at times.
This OBJ is everywhere! grin

Stop patronizing foreigners, buy made in Nigeria cars.
Thank you very much!

Even a Governor of ABIA STATE, is not patronising INNOSSON MOTORS (he buys Korean Hyundai Cars, with his Igbo money!).....yet the same IP.ADs will come here and heap insults on Buhari that he is not buying Ibo-made! shocked shocked

I opened the thread hoping to him donating Innosson Vehicles.

Where is that "Twitter Senator" to come and tweet us on this one?

Next time the Naira depreciates further against the Dollar, blame Buhari, not those who use your money to import foreign cars

Obiagelli:
I am not in anyway an economist but i have been reading a bit, especially Henry Boyo ( truth be told, i get an anytime i do).
I believe we earn our oil revenue in dollars, what if the federal government pay states their allocation in dollars and the state simple exchange their dollars for naira at the bank or BDC.
With this system there will be surplus dollar in the system that will drive the exchange rate down. A good example of this was during the last election when dollar was raining all over the place (thanks to Dasuki) the dollar fell to 170 naira despite official rate at 197 naira.
(This "fall" is only temporary, "like the quiet, before a storm",.... pending when the Dollar will depletes to almost zero, then the worthlessness sets-in, as it has now)

www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/business/51434-naira-gains-against-dollar-at-black-market

So I ask again what will go wrong if we flood the economy with dollars?
First, we earn a lot of our Revenue (Federal Govt revenue) in Naira (internally generated revenue, as per Taxes, VRT, Stamp duties, Levies, e.t.c.
So, the basis of your assumption is wrong.

Secondly, just like CBN Directors have become executive owners of BDC (thereby creaming-off a large gain for themselves while defrauding the Govt they are serving), the State Governors will simply and suddenly become owners of Burea De Change (BDC), they will collect the Dollars from the Fed Govt, pass it on to their own BDC (at official rate of #197 which is what they would declare to their state coffers), which then goes on to sell it at #350 in the black market, thereby making a killing for themselves!
Once again, the masses lose while the Executive Governor becomes a Billionaire overnight! shocked shocked

Again, the idea of "surplus dollars" is similar to "living in a fools paradise"!.
How can you have "Surplus Dollars", .......when the price of the major earner of such 'Surplus Dollars', ...Crude oil, has dwindled by as much as 80%? Where is the "surplus Dollars" going to come from?

Finally, let me inform you that our Foreign Reserve, like that of other countries, is denominated in Dollars.
In 'street language', it is the amount of Dollars we are able to keep, put aside, put in Nigeria's Savings Account.
It is sought from our "Dollar Income".
So if we share the "Surplus Dollars", it simply means we wont be able to save the same Dollars hence our Foreign Reserve will deplete.
The implication of this is that our "Naira" will become even more worthless than Zimbabwean currency........ remember President Mugabe also "shared the Surplus Dollars" while he could not earn much in return! undecided

Like you said, Dollars became Surplus during the election time as the former President Goodluck Badluck Jonathan was busy "sharing the Surplus dollars" in other to get votes. From Obas, to Touts, to ethnic militias like OPC, to Religious leaders like Ayo Oritshejafor and Oleedepo, e.t.c.

Well, the implication, fall out and implication is what we are still experiencing till today, months after he has left office.
The Naira has become almost worthless, because it has no Dollar (Foreign Reserve) to back it up.

It is the amount of Dollars you have "In Reserve" that determines how much your strong your currency/Naira becomes.

Call it "surplus" and share it, then you have a worthless local currency. End of story

The only alternative, to have "surplus Dollars to share", is to manufacture a lot of things and export it all over the world, like Germany.

If that can be achieved, the Naira itself will gain strength, and we wont even need to share Dollars in the first place, because our Naira will be more than good enough

thorpido: I understand where you are coming from.No one is condemning single parenthood but there's something called relativity. It's been proven that children raised by both parents fare better than children raised by single parents.
blackpanda:
You shld learn to distinguish probability from proof. And the probability is simply because one system is more traditional and therefore more popular than the other. There are simply no guarantees in raising children. Period.

Whether married or single, the important thing is making your best efforts. There are even people who were raised by neither parents and still turned out well. Many of the older generation were raised by grandparent(s)
Divorce and single-parenthood did not just start today, so you can be sure that a lot of research would havebeen done on the effects of such "lifestyle" on the products of such life-style, which are the children.

For example, l am sure you know that research has been done on the race/colour of inmates in British and American Prisons and it has emerged that "though the Caucasian (whites) far out number Blacks (Negroid) in terms of National population numbers, there are more than double Black people in prisons, than are white people"!

These research also went further down and analysed the data and statistically, one of the things that also came out of such research is that an alarmingly high (over 70%) proportion of these prison inmates, come from broken homes or are raised by a SINGLE PARENT!

These 'social statistical research' has been done over and over again, in various prisons and places and the TREND is always the same.
Also, Research has shown that children raised by both parents under one roof, are more "psychologically better-adjusted", than children raised by a single parent.... but that is a no-brainer, it should be obvious like a ore thumb!

So, in conclusion, "Research has proved that there is a HIGH CORRELATION between being raised by a SINGLE PARENT and a capacity of end up in Prison as a result of falling put with the law!
This goes to buttress the cliché that "Two good heads (parents), are better than one".

Now, let me point out that "Statistical Research" itself, is a "generalised outcome" based on percentages......Percentages "High enough" to represent the population.
There would be one or two (as you have pointed out), but highly insignificant "DEVIATION" from the trend.... but they are so small as to be considered insignificant.

At that age, it is only the man that still cherishes marriage...being officially married!
Come to London and see how divorced women harbour men under their roof for donkey years (or some men just sneak-in, yansh the woman and bail out.... except if she needs more money, she then gets pregnant and the guy will enter "one chance wahala"! grin grin )

So, l suspect none of them will attempt anything like re-marrying..... but it does not stop them from doing what married people do, on top of bed!

The man never wanted the marriage to work in the first instance. If he did, tell me which Man of God will leave his family to reside in London while he stays put in Lagos surrounded by strange women who were masquarading as "Church Workers". This went on for several years as i learnt. What kind of Gods' work will make a family seperate for decades in the midst of temptations. They both got what they wanted and they both are an embarrassment to what they preach... so let the case close.
People like you are worse than 'armed robbers' because those ones at least come out to declare that they want to rob you..... but Satanist like you hide behind the computer to spread falsehood.

I am no fan of Chris Oyahkilome, infact, l dislike that "jerry-curled", funky-looking, unserious persona of his, since l was young. I think "spiritual leaders" like him should "lead by example.... good example" .....and he is a bad example of "moderation". (my opinion though).

Let us ASSUME that what you posit above is TRUE.
Let us assume that it was Chris who left/abandoned his family on London!
Let me also ASSUME that you have been to London, at least ONCE!

Now, tell us, does London looks like a place where a "man" can impose his wish on his wife, against her will?
can you tell your wife to "sit down there".... (when she does not want to)..... and she will obey you?
As a mater of fact, when it comes to the whole of Europe and America, it is thee woman that tells the man to "sit down there"... and he does! grin grin
If he doesn't, he gets thrown out of his own house, that same night, with not more than his knickers, loses his kids and becomes an instant ATM (wife and child support) to the estranged wife.

Again, based on your words, which we decided to "assume for truth", let us ask this Kwesion: Did Chris also tie his wife down in London, that she could not buy a ticket and say "Today, l will live with my husband in Nigeria"... and fly to Lagos? ..... or does she have her reason for "staying put" in London and refusing to come live with her husband?

So, the argument that Chris dumped his family in London, does not wash at all.

Fact is; Anita was the one that abandoned her husband in Nigeria because she has her own "reasons and designs" for refusing to come home.

Jist: (meaning you can ignore it)
1.) She prefers living in London than Nigeria because over there, she gets to be the 'husband'.... while Chris will be the wife

2.) she was getting "power drunk" and wanted to be lording it over other Church Ministers who by "church hierachy", are senior to her since she is just the "Pastor's wife"... and not 2nd in-command. Infact, she was challenging Chris authority, within the church.
That sort of behaviour can only go unchallenged in London, hence her staying put over there! undecided undecided

3.) Since the church has a "very lucrative" branch in London, Anita figured out she better hold onto that one....and she eventually converted it to her own "personal church" (Go and read the court papers as regards the wahala that happened in that branch of the church, when she hijacked ownership of it! Imagine a British court "dividing ownership of church" between husband and wife, like it is some "carnal/material" property, eehn?)

Issokay!

So, for Anita, its all about the Love of MONEY and POWER....... the marriage can go to blazes!
I just hope she wont be pretending to be seeing visions of exhibiting anything resembling "spiritual", afterwards!
undecided shocked shocked grin grin grin

Now that they are free of each other's burden, l hope we get to have some fresh air. angry angry

@Post

Most Nigerians in my honest opinion are too judgmental acting like saints. If most of you were saints, why is Nigeria such a mess? You all better face front and mind your business please. Some people are not cut out to be with cheating spouses. Not everyone wants to die of HIV/AIDS and other deadly incurable sexually transmitted diseases all in the name of wanting to stay married.

Why do you think Africa is the continent affected most by HIV/AIDS? It is because of the risky sexual behaviour of the African-bred man and African society's crappy view that a woman should put up with a cheating spouse. The bible permits divorce in the case of infidelity. People should realize that if you can't stay faithful to your spouse, don't get married. No one has time to stay 'one' with a walking disease bag.

You don't know what Pastor Anita went through in her marriage before making the painful decision to divorce her husband. So allow her be. Focus instead on your falling naira because a time will come when one mudu of garri will be one thousand naira. When hunger deals with many of you here, you will have no strength to come online and type rubbish judging another human being when you yourself are in no way perfect.
I am shocked that you think HIV/AIDS is prevalent in Africa because of our "risky sexual behaviour and marriage resilience"?
That is bullshyte please.

ask anyon ewho has lived amongst white people and they will tell you that "to them, shex is nothing"!
They can sleep with four-five people in one day.
beofre a girl is 18, she has slept with so many boys that her "physical attributes" (from the bosom being saggy and outright flat, to the real Phekus becoming over-used like Lagos-Ibadan express road) makes her appear like she has had five children! grin grin
Same for the men too, they have sampled enough women such that when they eventually decide to marry, they just cant stop cheating and this is why marriage crashes there, like a pack of cards..... and to make things "simple", divorce has become a DIY, ten minutes endeavour! undecided undecided

Is it these white people that "marry and marry" an average of three times in their life time, that are faithful to their spouse? Abeg!

But the level of HIV/AIDS over there is less because they have immediate access to free and better medical facility that tackle such infection right-away. they encourage and beg infected people to come forward to get treated for free. The drugs are supplied to them and as a matter of fact, they dont allow the infection to get "full-blown" before nailing it.

Come to Africa here, illiteracy, lack of drugs, non-existent health facilities dedicated to such infection and most importantly, POVERTY or lack of money to fund the treatment are the cause/reasons why the infection is spreading over here.

People at times live with the disease for years, without getting the required treatment..... not because they dont want to be treated but because they cant afford it and Govt cant fund it as done in the West.

If Africans have the level of rampant promiscuity of the Westerners, l bet we will all be dead by now.

Dont get it twisted please.
