That guy might carry a French Passport but l can swear he is not French by birth!
He looks one of these North African descent who migrated to France.
But that is neither here nor there.

What l am concerned about is how he was able to get that Court order( assuming it is genuine), without the Mother appearing in a court hearing?

Did she IGNORE the court summons... which is what most Nigerian, especially women, do? What manner of a woman allows her son to call his father "Uncle" Franck? What does that say about her "Motherhood capacity"?

Her Lawyer, if worth his salt, should have filed for a "stay of execution" of that order, appeal it and request for 'accelerated hearing'!
That would have ensured that the French man cant abscond with the boy.

Also, l am curious as to why a Judge will give him (A foreigner! Knowing he can disappear with the child and he appears next in an ISIS Video! shocked ), unconditional custody.... without even "visitation access" .. to the Mother?
That sounds fishy to me.
Courts as a rule, dont debar one parent from seeing the child except in case where there is an existing barring Order (women's weapon of choice!) which was earlier sought and got, by the custodial parent (usually pleading "Spousal abuse"wink

I generally have more sympathy for men who are the ones that are mostly prevented from having access to their children, by a vengeful and cantankerous ex-wife or separated partner ........but in this case, l am thinking either the woman has been "unjustly served" as a result of "Court Officials taking Bribe" (Jankara Judgement) ....or there is something we are not being told. undecided

Either way, this is not nice!

wristbangle:
Speaking as a yoruba indigene, it beats my imagination to have seen the downward trend of our educational system . To be candid the poor state of schools, delayed payment of teachers (poor management from government) and unmotivated attitude from the students is killing our education.

Let's call a spade, spade. The SS and SE regions have tremendously improved in their educational sector in terms of teaching skills, good government support, willingness of students to study hence the reason why they are booming.

I feel the south west region need to retrace their step back to what made them the best or perhaps learn from SS/SE region because what the OP said may start happening in the nearest future is care is if not taking.
As a Yoruba person, l really dont care about what the S.East thinks when it comes to Education.
The S.East is the S.East.......... and can never be the South West so, there is no basis for this comparison or imagined competition.

Ko'si bi omode sele l'akisa to, kole l'akisa agbalagba.
Let us leave the South East out of it, completely. lest some start having premature eja.cula.tion! grin grin

Having said that, l am more worried about the lack of 'technical skills and craftsmanship" among our Youths in the South West.

Decades back, we have it that it is not everyone that can attain university Education. Some are not just cut for higher education but it does not make them "lesser beings" because those category of people, also excel in whatever technical/handiwork they chose to learn

You could easily find first class Carpenters/Upholsteries, Grade A Welders, top-notch Bricklayers, Auto mechanics who can pieces any vehicle and re-assemble it (our mechanic in those days when l was small, will diagnose a vehicular problem, just by listening to the sound of the running engine!), Plumbers, Electricians, e.t.c.

These Yorubas who chose not to further their education, after the first few years, paid diligent attention to learning A TRADE.
They excelled at their trade, practised it and made good money out of it!
Some went on to marry and build houses while training their own children to University level, from the proceeds of such trade!
Integrity and a "good name" was their watch-word.
They were very Proud of what and who they have become.

Fast forward to the present generation, l am sure l am not the only person that have noticed that our Youths (l am categorical about S.West/ Yorubas) nowadays dont want to Study and neither do they want to learn a trade!
Hardly can you find a well trained Carpenter, Electrician, Plumber in the neighbourhood these days.

Our current set of Yoruba Youths, once they decide higher education is not for them, they want to "get rich quick" and resort to being Okada Driver, Auto-Rischker Driver (Maruwa), Agberoo at every available junction, Bust Stop Touts and Election Thugs!
Some resort to even more dastardly acts like robbery, Yahoo-yahoo, e.t.c

Mind you, l am not saying these vices are peculiar to the Yoruba nation (we all know the scores when it comes to criminality and who holds the ace!) but l am solely concerned about the Yoruba nation ...and the need for us to "look inwards", re-discover our selves, because 'we know who we are". Its that simple.

The issue is so worrisome that in most neighbourhoods, you will find hordes of Youths with nothing-doing for the major part of the day, just loitering around and before you could say "jack", they form themselves into criminal gangs who extort money from traders, from people building their houses, from Transporters, e.t.c! In summary, they form gang of criminals! shocked shocked shocked

This is not the YORUBA WAY of living.
Yorubas are proud, intelligent and dignified people who take pride in who they are.
That Yorubas are the most sophisticated nation in Nigeria may annoy some people but it is a "fact of reality and history", whether it butters anyone's bread or not.
And when we say "sophistication", it is not just about Education or Money ...... it is a "Whole way of Life".

The time has come for every Omo O'dua to sit-back, reflect and do a critical self-assessment of ourselves.

If anything, Yorubas are know to be the most "self-critical and self-reflecting" of themselves.

We have gone through and are still going through a "generation of waste" .... a generation where Parents lost focus and paid less attention to their children, the imbibing of moral values, dignity in their children and the proper training of our children "at all or any cost"!

Yoruba r'onu O! Ranti omo eniti iwo'nse!
As Parents, we need to go back to the ways of our Fathers.
We need to re-ignite that Pride of being Yorubas.
Naturally, we are mostly intellectually gifted, the type that we call "Agbari"! undecided
We are Savvy and unbeatable in most negotiations.

But we need to further capitalise on our natural abilities by ensuring that we train our children PROPERLY.
We need to inculcate in our children, the notion that "Money will come by itself, once the mind is prepared".
The first thing is to prepare the "mind".

Our children must value integrity, hardwork, and above all, A GOOD NAME.

We must encourage our children not to be indolent, to learn a trade (ise'owo) if they cannot further their education and to apply themselves, with all their heart, to such endeavour. There is DIGNITY in LABOUR.

Yorubas must put more effort in the training (moral, academical and value-system) our children, who are the leaders of tomorrow.

Like it is said, "those who fail to adapt, will become extinct".
Yoruba-parents must do everything within their power to ensure that our children adapt to the current changes in science and technology.
We must embrace Mathematics at all levels.

The level of miscreants on our streets is becoming alarming.
We need to show our children how to create jobs by the acquisition of special skills and craftsmanship.
LEARN A TRADE!....LEARN IT PROPERLY!!

Its not about competing with any tribe, its about being who we are...we are one of the best worldwide and we have a natural advantage in being savvy but we have to once again, take advantage of it, by following in the footsteps of our fathers.

STUDY, ACQUIRE USEFUL SKILLS/CRAFTSMANSHIP and BE CONSCIENTIOUS IN ANYTHING YOU LAY YOUR HANDS ON.

Anyway, he did not refer to any Section of the Constitution or other law or any Judicial precedent where such a thing has ever happened. It is astonishing what partisanship can do to an otherwise brilliant Lawyer. Or maybe it is arrogance which leads him to think he can just open his mouth, say whatever catches his fancy and bamboozle the public. Smh
ALWAYS READ the story FIRST...before responding, Haaba!
Please Dont spew so much ignorance in public.

I have helped you to highlight the parts concerned sha. undecided

When asked whether Fayose can be prosecuted if indicted despite the immunity he enjoys as a governor, he said, “There is no immunity for impunity as far as electoral malfeasance is concerned. In the cases of Obi v Mbakwe, Alliance for Democracy v Ayo Fayose and Amaechi v INEC it has been established that governors cannot hide under the immunity clause to commit electoral fraud.

“By the strict interpretation of section 308 of the Constitution no court process can be issued or served on a governor. But because immunity cannot be pleaded or invoked to cover electoral fraud, elected governors are served with court processes and dragged to court to respond to allegations of electoral malpractice.”

As for those who still believed Fayose rigged, I say they are on a long thing cos should that election be conducted again with Tinubu or Buhari as candidates it will still be a landslide for oshokomole.

The undeniable fact: Fayose is a grassroot politician, very popular and acceptable to his people.
I beg to really INFORM you further...

A Court can over-rule ITSELF........ "IF AND WHEN" NEW EVIDENCE nullifying its earlier position, are brought to life.

Ask Lawyers of repute, if you doubt this.
That is exactly what Falana (SAN) was saying up there.

1.) That investigation's report, with all the accompanying evidence will be placed before that court....it will examine it and then "over-rule itself".
2.)INEC would then vacate Fayose's Governorship post and withdraw his Certificate of return.
3.) He then loses his immunity
4.)Fayose will then be arrested and prosecuted.... based on same evidence.

With the level of "detail" in that evidence..and one Principal accomplice who has come forward and is ready to "sacrifice" his own personal Liberty for that sole purpose (and thereby acting as a State Witness) and the level of "hubris" that Fayose himself has "defecated"....

emiye:
The prepaid meters is what i am canvassing for, deploying prepaid meters is not rocket science. Why should customers pay for meters, and it should take months before it is fixed or supplied? Is prepaid meter now rocket technology? Lots of Nigerians screaming hike in tarriff should understand that the real issue is the fraudulent estimated billing , not the tarriff. I am all for efficiency before effectiveness. Once everyone pays for the actual unit they consume, then no qualms, with prepaid meter, i can decide not to use discos power supply for the whole month, but my petrol generator, and no bill is paid. shikenan
Prepaid Meter is just one aspect of it! I understand those who dont have it, are cheated the most and in an even lower pecking order.

I have been using pre-Paid Meter for over 5yrs now!

But l have seen the cost/Tariff/price of a unit of electricity JERKED UP every time..... even though the Power Supply is annoyingly epileptic (imagine having to off-and-on the Generator four times within a single midnight hours? (Loss of Sleep!).

They said they have abolished "Fixed Charge" but l still bought credit yesterday and that fixed charge was still taken out of my money.
And as of today, the amount of electricity-units l get from the 7K worth l buy monthly, is even less, compared to before.

When will people like Mr. Raji Fashola understand that "throwing more money at a problem", is NOT ALWAYS the solution?
We are all in this country when some of these "wicked elites" told us that for Petrol to be available, we should be willing to pay #200/Litre!
But TODAY, petrol attendants BEG US to come and buy Fuel at their stations ....(l was joking with one today, l said: You people have suddenly become "so nice to us, your customers"? he smiled and said: Its the Government. ) .... yet the price is just #86.50, despite the removal of subsidy!
What we are paying (for these essential utilities) is definitely not a true reflection of the production cost ....but a reflection of what some GREEDY ROGUES, who have cornered these Public Service utilities for themselves, want us to pay, for their own benefit

*The "Poor majority of Nigerians" operate in Naira and get shafted, after each DEVALUATION of the Naira..... and it has happened many, many times in the last Government!
*President Buhari is the C-in-C of their sovereign Country called Nigeria and the "buck" stops at his table! he cant tell us "America should know"! shocked
*Buhari parleys with his Financial Advisors, from CBN Governors, to Finance Minister, e.t.c. They give him up-to-date information and analysis.
* Based on feedback from those "in the know" (not some opportunistic beneficiaries like Bloomberg! or Dollar LOOTERS), the President decided that devaluing the Naira IS NOT in the INTEREST of NIGERIANS....... majority of who dont spend Dollars!
* The President knows, l know and every "right thinking" Nigerian who is not selfish knows that further devaluing a depreciated Naiara at this point, will simply Kill the Naira..... and PMB has said: "I will not kill the Naira".

Self aggrandizing anthem.. he wanted rules bent & he was informed it wasn't going to happen, & he took it personal... smiley

In my mind, I was just wondering what the man would be like with his private minions..

Assaulting his son's principal & an ex staff of his' account of his stint in his company cemented the picture left in my mind!!

You are simply Brilliant!

Lets not forget, ........"the GOAT still has our YAM"! undecided undecided

Immediately I saw the news on NL, I just laughed

It is the handiwork of IPOB Youths who hate Buhari with a passion because of his fight on Corruption

There is nothing IPOB people can do to stop the fight on corruption

God bless the best President Nigeria has ever had

IPOB Una go cry tire

grin grin grin grin

What l dont understand is this "Emotional Connection" a President is supposed to have with the parents of girls kidnapped over two years ago!

I mean, l use to shed tears for my dead family member when it happened some five years ago but now I DONT ANYMORE!
It does not mean l still dont love them but it means l have gotten over the raw emotions.

Buhari has gotten over it (l can understand if the parents have not but at least that has not stop some of them from having "Kpekus" and getting pregnant and having other children) but that does noit mean he wont try his best to recover the girls, if they can still be recovered.

Nobody should try to "emotionally blackmail" our President.
Buhari has a military background and they are known to bottle-up their emotions in public
We dont need a President that cries and shed "crocodile tears" like the Shoeless one that got us where we are today!

Oga fash78,

The ideal thing is to get more land and get new approval for the build. It helps the government while planning for the area and it also give you the confidence that you've done the right thing.

However, you may choose to go otherwise (as your builder adviced), the Naija way and beat the LASBCA guys to it and forever live with the guilt of not doing it right. But I know if you wanted to go that route you won't be here in the first place.

I'll advice you to stick to approval except you still have ample space to play with for the additions. It's not always about the strength of the building or the financial capability of the owner but the changing demographic of the area due to lack of planning or failure to adhere to approved planning permission and we will blame government for it.
I agree with your post; Its better to do things with a clear conscience.

On the other hand, in his case, l agree that parking space wont be an issue.
The sticking point is if/whether his Engineers can SAFELY ADJUST the Structural drawings to cater for the increased LOAD!
if they can do that without endangering the lives of others, l think he should just do another drawing (or get a similar one from what is already available), make the ground floor to represent "parking space" (for approval purposes) and get it approved...while building it fully as occupied space, ... on ground.

Contract Inflation! Let such people go! They're no different from Joseph's brother. They'll sell you if they milk you dry (talking from experience). I used to have them in their armies until second half of 2015. Now it's me against the world and I no send!

They're enemies of progress. I've trailed that part before and keep telling people it wasn't me, I have no idea of what happened, until I took the harsh decision. Some people will never change even if you give them 20th chance.
Like Shaggy,....... "it wasn't me"! grin grin grin

true word:
Some peeps will NEVER change, "they are who they are"

@Fastshipping: An "enemy" is better than a "brother" you dont trust! Let him go IMMEDIATELY!
If you want to/need to help him in future, just give him Cash and let him move-on! undecided

Politics › Re: Buhari Copied Jonathan’s Budget – Soludo by lastpage: 9:29am On Jan 15, 2016
Stylz69:
All budgets in this country from Federal Level down to the local government level are jokes. I had the opportunity to work with a few MDAs in the preparation of their Zero-Based budgets. While the initiative was a good one in theory, the MDAs were just not ready to embrace it and kept on in their old ways even after numerous corrections. Imagine an office putting the unit cost of diesel at 204 naira per litre and when i flagged this, they said "leave it like that, that is the contract price". Two years ago, i worked on a project analyzing the budgets of the 774 LGAs and 80% of them were terrible! Most were replications of the previous year, some used pens to mark-up the previous year's budget and presented as the current year. The summations were wrong. Recurrent and Capital didn't add up correctly and in most cases, the breakdown of the capital and recurrent didn't tally with the total on the budget summary.
I think the fault lies with the budget office; the time frame between when the MDAs submitted their budgets and the presentation of the budget to the National Assembly was way to short to allow the Budget office scrutinize the budgets.
Thanks for your post.

Do you not think that it is the inherent, very high level of corruption within our political space, that is the root cause of these problems?
Can they not start to prepare the Budget, say THREE months in advance of submission?
Is there a cycle of 'kickbacks' between those presenting the budget and those saddled with scrutinizing it?
