bendike: Ydes sir. They have 2 heads. And mmia has never been run well right from inception in the 80ies and 90ties. Over the years Nigeria has suffered a breakdown in work ethics, morals, selfishness etc. The attitude of it is not my "father work" syndrome. Everybody in the civil service is a thief all out to get what he can. Go and investigate. Most civil servants live above their means. Even effcc officials are millionaires. It is not curse but we have gone so rotten government cannot run any services or business. Eg. Look at the shoprite car park toll booth or lekki concession toll gate how efficiently they are ran and compare to that of Lagos Airport. They have the toll machine there but they will "chook" it so it will break down and hence sell paper tickets printed by them. As regards government assets privatized before, most were not sold properly but to cronies who did not have the expertise or financial wherewithal. Few are successful though eg Intel, mm2 etc. How come Nigeria cannot run a national carrier when ghana, rwanda, even Syria own airlines? I stand to be corrected but most airports, even sea ports are privatized in Europe. At least I know a Nigerian lead the consortium that bought Heathrow. Oga, MMIA was well run from the 80s to the 90s. I grew up and still met old newspaper reports that had been carefully preserved in our library, which covered events of that era. MMIA was built after the design of Schiphol airport in Amsterdam. Please ask thcose who worked in the aviation industry during that era, and stop fueling your mind with the misinformation and hype that passes for fact, being peddled by the indomie generation of these days. I had uncles who were pilots in the days when Nigeria Airways had the largest operational fleet, in West Africa. So I got first hand info from them, and also had the privilege to read their written reports. The number of privately run airports in Europe are still much fewer than the number of publicly owned and run airports, located in different parts of the world, which are efficient and we'll maintained. Do the math. Public enterprises were well run in the past. The rot started at some point in the mid-90s upwards. We all need to go back and study what went wrong, and fix it. I do not deny that ShopRite car parks are well run, but public car parks can also be well run, if the right pegs are put in the right holes, and transparency as well as accountability us enforced! |

Although he failed in other areas, Aregbesola's educational policy reconstructed and renovated Schools in Osun State more than any administration. Thank you for that info about Murtala Muhammed's acquisition of all schools, in 1976. |

Cantonese: A very anti people policy enacted by some past governments. The aim was to make education cheap and it became counter productive. Education was bastadized and corruption took its seat. The worst losers were the christians. Prior to that time Christians attended Islamic schools and vice versa. Politicians ruined every thing as they politicized it.
The present LASU campus originally belonged to the Methodists. Infact Methodist boys high school was meant to relocate there in the late 70s from the then school premises on broad street Lagos. Alhaji Jakande's administration stopped it and the so called afternoon sessions in the secondary schools were introduced. He ended up constructing what came to be known as "poultry houses" in the name of school buildings. Lagos state government took over the site and situated LASU there in 1984.
Hopefully Governor Fayemi can have this done quickly and also it can help in improving the quality in our country. Education should not have any religious undertone in a multi religious society like ours otherwise we will remain where we are today. No sir! With regards to Jakande, your facts are wrong. Afternoon sessions in secondary schools in Lagos state, had been the norm long before Jakande came into power in 1979. It was in a bid to stop it, that he built the temporary classrooms known as Jakande schools in 1979-1983. He wanted to increase access to education for all school pupils, as free education was one of the cardinal policies of the old UPN party, he represented. Educationists and psychologists believed the attention span of children who attended the afternoon sessions, were negatively affected by the length of time they spent getting to school, during the hot afternoon. Don't forget that in those days before Jakande got into power in Lagos state, morning classes ran from 8a.m to 1p.m, while afternoon classes started at 2p.m and ended at 6 to 7p.m. Concerns about the safety and security of school kids were also high. The burden on teachers was also huge. Jakande stopped the afternoon sessions, and made sure all schools in Lagos state ran a comprehensive morning session, simultaneously. It was in a bid to also ensure that all existing students in the afternoon schools could have a space for taking lectures in the morning, that he set up those Jakande schools in rapid succession. Their designs were pedestrian and utilitarian. Gbolahan Mudashiru an Airforce officer took over from him, when the Buhari administration came into power in 1984, renovated those Jakande schools and temporary classrooms, to a better standard. It was his tenure that founded singular school system and quality free education in the state. However, those who benefitted from this policy are currently holding key positions in every part of the country and world at large.
It was Jakande’s government that increased the Lagos state primary schools to 812 consisting of 533,001 pupils contrary to the 605 primary schools with 434,545 pupils he met in power.
Secondary schools were also increased from 105 schools with 107,885 students to 223 schools and 167,629 students.
11,729 classrooms were constructed with forty children maximum per class between March and August 1980 in his government.
Afterwards, he had built more than 22,000 classrooms by 1983. https://naijauto.com/market-news/lateef-jakande-contributions-to-lagos-3571 |

bLacKGoLd3: Normally, I wouldn't respond to a thread of this kind, but the responses, which I'm sure is from devout christians, devout muslims, ethical atheists/agnostics and godless moralists, is quite sad.
First off, you get into a relationship with zero plans for marriage. Not trying to be a moral judge here, but I would have respected your choice more if your girlfriend was aware too. She clearly has feelings for you and most likely looking towards the future with expectations, hence her getting the mum to help out with this job. Sadly, you have no feelings for her and most likely only need her to keep your bed warm.
Now, the mother has pulled strings and probably played an ace reserved for family only, not knowing it's all a sham!
Let's even forget about the job for a second. Have you ever thought about how your girlfriend would manage a breakup? What about the mum/family who may be also be scathed from the breakup? How is this case any different from 'wicked Nigerians' who deceptively get married to ladies for green card? How are you any different than Yahoo boys? Don't you all serve the same gods - mammon and your belly!
Sadly, lots of Nigerians on NL are cheering you on. Tomorrow, same idiots will cuss at Politicians and brand them as thieves, but isn't it the same game of deception? Play along or deceive the people until you get what you want. After you win the elections and have your pockets full of cash, you can always assuage their bleeding hearts with bags of rice or cows.
The game is the game, right? As I'll always say, a wicked people deserve wicked leaders and a land filled with wickedness, which is why Nigeria is the way it is today.

lexy2014: This is d angle that makes a lot of sense to u:
"OK, but don't you think hitting her on the back will Make her fall down to the point where his dick is? Then with rage, she bites off his dick!
It's rational like that."
Can u pls tell me, if someone hits u in d back, how are u going to fall, toward d person that hit u in d back or away from d person that hit u& in what position are u going to fall?
“He tried taking my clothes off which I refused and he slapped me twice. He took off his clothes and was putting on boxers and singlet while he held on to my breast to pin me down.”
“Johnson insisted on having sex with me and when I refused, he hit me on my back, I was so pained that I bit his manhood. I didn’t mean to harm him,” she said."
Pls take note of two things. In d first quote, d lady said d guy "held on to her breast to pin her down"
In d second, she said she was blown in her back. Is a woman's breasts now located in her back? How can a person hold on to ur breasts(which is in front) to pin u down& still b able to blow u in d back at d same time? Can u also pls tell me where d guy pinned d lady to? Oga, stop trying to defend the indefensible. You do not know if he grabbed her breast before he hit her on the back, or afterwards. The sequence is not laid out like a plotted graph. And who says he stood still after hitting her on the back? He could have hit her on the back, then she could have fallen forward like you imagined, and he could also have moved towards her to stand in front of her after hitting her, and she grabbed his crotch. Anything could have happened. The fact that he used violence on her by slapping her, grabbing her breast and hitting her on the back, showed that he meant to harm her physically. So she defended herself the best way she could. End of story. I salute her bravery. |

lexy2014: Madam detective, as u read d story na so me I take read d story. According to d lady this is her reason y she bit off d guys dick:
“Johnson insisted on having sex with me and when I refused, he hit me on my back, I was so pained that I bit his manhood. I didn’t mean to harm him,” she said."
So because d guy hit her on her back, she decided to bite off d guys dick. Now in that moment of rage, d guy was still in his boxers.
“He tried taking my clothes off which I refused and he slapped me twice. He took off his clothes and was putting on boxers and singlet while he held on to my breast to pin me down.”
My dear, this lady isn't telling us what actually happened. Her story is so sweet that am trying so hard to believe it Why is her story so hard to believe? The guy slapped her twice and then went on to hit her on her back, in a bid to intimidate her into having sex with him. He even attempted to strip her of her clothes but she refused. In a bid to defend herself, she bit him in the groin. So why is that so hard for you to believe? If their intimacy was meant to be consensual, would he have slapped her in the first place or hit her on the back? Are those kind of actions, a normal prelude to consensual sex? victorian: OK, but don't you think hitting her on the back will Make her fall down to the point where his dick is? Then with rage, she bites off his dick!
It's rational like that. Thank you, o! This angle makes a lot of sense. |
