onyeopobo: If you read the entire comments thus far properly, you'd have noticed that no one said timi dakolor or timaya were igbos. However Calling Burna Boy based on his place of origin (which is Ahoada) Igboid/igboic is not wrong. He's from a tribe that's some where between ogba and ogbia, their people bear igbo last names, their spoken language is a slightly more twisted Ogba which is an igbo subgroup, the first indegine from his village that built the first primary school in the area had a full igbo name, their kings have igbo names.
And sorry but there's no tribe called niger delta in nigeria, sorry for busting that bubble bro! You people have started your meaningless categorisation again. Let people call themselves whatever they like. I have met many Itsekiri people and Edo folks from the Afenmai area, with Yoruba first names or last names, who insist that they are pure Itsekiri or pure Edo, and would never call themselves Yoruba. The Yoruba people respect such people and their identity, and have not tried to give them a different label. I have met Kanuri people who speak fluent Hausa, and even have Hausa sounding names, but maintain their distinct Identity. No Hausa group has come out to claim that such people are Hausaoid or something ridiculous. Leave people alone to bear whatever identity they want to bear. Chikena! |

I got to know her under an unclear circumstance. I saw her just once at an event, we exchanged contacts and that was all. There is distance involved that's why I didn't get to know she's not what I want on time Then why are you still dating her? If you get the job through her mum's connections, those same connections can be used to throw you out of that same job later, by the time you break off with the girl. |

But not only that, it is strict adherence to the drug regimen over a period of several months or a couple of years, that could lead to reduction in the viral load. okeniti: I'm past even counting now. Almost one year and half of regret mails and failed interviews. As time goes on, my CV collects dust and that only makes finding work even harder as nobody likes to see gaps on CV. My confidence is at an all time low, my future is looking very dark right now, despite the hope of a brighter day I try to have. Have you thought of volunteering with an NGO? You could get valuable work experience this way. Also apply to an SME and try to get on board. Some SMEs entry criteria are not as strict as those of multinationals. Their pay is not much, but it allows you to acquire work experience, contacts and a small salary to keep body and soul, together. But research the SME well o, before joining them. You don't want to get there, and they start owing you salary for 2 months, after paying you the 1st month. I had a friend who joined a local security services company, after trying unsuccessfully to get a job with different conglomerates. After about 2 years, an international oil company contracted the firm she was working for, to provide them with security services in one of their locations. She was assigned to that location, as a security back-up personnel. She was very diligent and hardworking. After 3 months, one of the oil company's staff in the security dept resigned to go abroad, and that was how she was asked to take up the role. Within 6 months, she was made a full time staff by the IOC. Na so Papa God take pick her call, o! |

charliejose: You have a "doc" to your moniker, but I should believe you added that for fun... That's by the way. People that are actively receiving these treatments are even advised to abstain from unprotected sex so as to avoid re-infection or even contracting resistant strains of the virus - they are also at greater risk of contracting other diseases too as their immune system is compromised usually at the beginning of treatment. So, a greater percentage of those that infect people for revenge or whatever are the ones not on treatment. So, worry more about sensitization of people going for test and leave these people going for their treatments alone. And you think every HIV+ person that has been given that advice, will comply? Are you going to be following them around 24x7? |

charliejose: Verbose, yet reeks of ignorance. HIV positive patients that are steadily on Anti-retroviral therapy can't transmit the virus because of their undetectable viral load. The real people spreading the virus are the lots of you that don't know your HIV status, talk more of starting treatment. So, this mistake of a nurse should have channelled her energy to sensitizing people to go for a test not stigmatizing innocent people that go for treatment because they care about their lives and that of others. No sir. You are wrong. The fact that a HIV patient is on ARV medication, does not mean his viral load is undetectable. It takes a while before this happens. In some people it could take several months or even years before this happens, after they start their treatment. The patient will have to be highly disciplined in following a strict drug regimen, and would have to also show up for regular tests in the hospital, to monitor his CD4 count, etc. So even while taking drugs, the HIV patient can still infect his non-HIV partner, if he does not take adequate precautions. I have seen HIV patients coming late to the hospital, and they still develop complications like TB and other things, simply because they presented late, or were not compliant with their drug regimen, or those ARV drugs had side effects that caused unforeseen severe reactions in their body. The doctors then conduct more tests, before changing their drug combination. Kennydoc: So once a HIV patient is started on HAART, their viral load will immediately become undetectable? I wonder, o! Can you imagine what he is saying.. .. |

raumdeuter: Any sexual encounter that is not consensual, I expect resistance. And I do not expect my daughter to still have sex with the rapist after that and continue attending the rapists church as an adult. It applies to everyone whether its my daughter or not
Its not enough to say WHEN I WAS ABT 2 REACT, HE JUST COVERED MY MOUTH and he was like " bisola listen 2 me, just do what I want u 2 do and u'll be fine".
I didn't struggle, I just left him and he brought out his joystick, pulled down my pant and penetrated......there was blood all over d floor....
What constitutes statutory rape and what was Busolas age when it happened and what is the age of consent to sexual act in the location where the act took place
Its not about what I like, its about what the law says. Regina Daniels father does not like that his 19yr old daughter is married to a 58yr old man, But why is it not a crime? Oga, some people freeze in shock when they are being molested. It is like part of their brain shuts down, and they become numb. So that theory of " why didn't she shout or put up resistance," doesn't hold true for everybody, because people react in different ways to stress, attacks and fear. Please read this book titled THE BODY KEEPS THE SCORE by Bessel Van Der Kolk, an eminent Boston-based psychiatrist, who specializes in post-traumatic stress disorder and has worked with a broad range of clients, from veterans to sexual assault survivors. We now know that there is another possible response to threat, which our scans aren’t yet capable of measuring. Traumatic stress, literally rearranges the brain's wiring...
Some people simply go into denial...Immobilization keeps the body in a state of inescapable shock, and learned helplessness.... Regina Daniel's case was clearly consensual, because not only was she above 18 (the age of consent), she also willingly went into the union without any misgivings.

DisGuy: Just automate the payment. Since Lagos state claims to have a registry of all vehicle in the state.
Link the bvn to the car reg-link it to a toll account or let them pay upfront or pay at the shops or online for one off use...voila!! There is an automated section of the Lekki-Ikoyi toll gate (as well as the Lekki-Epe one), that allows you to use a pre-funded toll gate card that has been loaded with credit, to make payment at the toll gate. There is also an e-Tag device that can be pasted on your windscreen, which is linked to your account set up with the toll gate operators. But the problem is that it does not give real time updates, as deductions are made from your toll gate account, each time you pass through the toll gate. Another issue, is that there are often glitches right at the automated section of the toll gate, as sometimes those toll devices stop working due to electricity fluctuations, or software issues. At the end of the day, the driver is still forced to pay cash, before going through. |
Travel › Re: Free Lekki, Ikoyi Toll: Updates From Lekki And Ikoyi Toll Gates - Photos by laudate: 5:02pm On Jul 12, 2019 |
olujastro: Remove all the cashiers from the toll gates and make all pay points automated (it charges you as you drive through) and watch how the Lekki axis traffic drastically reduces. Nigeria is too cash based. I haven't used an ATM in years (apart from when I pay offering in Nigerian church). Exactly! In Singapore, the toll devices are fixed under the overhead bridges, or attached to the base of the bridge's gantry. There is a toll e-cashcard strip on the car's windshield, that is replenished with funds by the car owner, periodically. Once a car passes under the overhead bridges, it deducts the toll fee automatically from the vehicle, while such a vehicle is still in motion. No waiting, no queues....nothing. And it happens like that all over the city. |

bendike: They should just sell the airport. As far as you have Nigerian civil servants running the place, it will never work. Compare that airport to the local one owned by bi Courtney and you see the difference. Meanwhile faan wants to collect it too. Sell it...... in order to achieve what? In many countries, the airports are run by govt agencies, and not private individuals, and such airports are well run. It has little to do with govt, but the people who are appointed to run the airport. If the right people are put in charge, and given the freedom, tools and resources to run it, it will work. Changi Airport in Singapore, is rated as one of the best airports in the world. It is still owned and run by the government of Singapore. Do their own civil servants have two heads? All the govt owned parastatals and companies sold off in the past, what happened to them? Many of them are either comatose or dead. This same MMIA was well run in the 80s all through the 90s. Why did it suddenly go down? Wasn't it civil servants that were in charge when it was well run in the past? We need to ask relevant questions. The major local and international airports in South Africa are owned by Airports Company South Africa (ACSA). Guess what? That company's majority shareholder is the South African Government which owns 74.6% of its' shares. Geneva Airport is the international airport of Geneva, the second most populous city in Switzerland. Guess what? The owners and operators of that airport still remains the City of Geneva, which is the equivalent of a state govt in Nigeria. Yet, it is well run, and turns a tidy profit each year. I repeat: do their own civil servants have 2 heads?? |
