Politics › Re: I Will Not Consider U 4 Ministerial Appointment – Buhari Tells Fashola, Amaechi by lawrsmith(m): 1:10am On Jun 04, 2015 |
The immediate past governor of Lagos State, Mr Babatunde Fashola and his Rivers State counterpart, Mr Rotimi Amaechi have become the first causalities’ of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ‘no nonsense’ style of leadership as both have lost out in their quest for ministerial position. The two former governors were at the forefront of the tenacious “change campaign” that saw Buhari emerged victorious in the March 28, 2015 presidential election where Amaechi even served as Buhari’s campaign director. President Buhari was said to have told Fashola and Amaechi to their faces in one of the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meetings held before his inauguration on Friday, May, 29, that he was not considering both of them for ministerial appointment without given any reasons to justify his stand. This we gathered may not be unconnected with the large sub-national external debts incurred by Lagos State and Rivers State under the watch of Fashola and Amaechi. Under Fashola, Lagos State Government owes $1.02bn which represents 33.86 per cent of the country’s total sub-national external debts leaving the remaining 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory with $1.99bn as of June 30, 2014. Amaechi was also accused of plunging Rivers State into massive external indebtedness by a coalition of non-governmental organisations interested in transparency and accountability in governance. He took $280m concessionary loan from World Bank and the Africa Development Bank for the purpose of providing water and sanitation which the coordinator of NDCBP, Mr Ken Henshaw claimed will increase Rivers State debt to the tune of $322m. Henshaw, said, “since 2008, Rivers State has experienced a steady rise in the amount it owes external creditors. In 2008, Rivers State owed $32.3m, which increased to $33.7m in 2009. “By 2010, it rose to $35.5m and decreased to $33.8m in 2011, only to rise again to $36.6m in 2012 and $42.6m as at the end of 2013.” Henshaw noted then that apart from these, the Rivers State government also had a significantly large domestic debt amount, which stood at N81.4bn and represented 5.2 percent of the total domestic debt of 36 states as at the end of 2012.” The then Rivers State commissioner for information and communications, Mrs Ibim Sementari however refuted the claim saying the state’s debt was below N100bn. She insisted then that Rivers State government had set aside N11bn every month to service its debt profile, therefore would not leave any debt for the incoming government; a promise the Amaechi led government failed to honour as governor Nyesom Wike had raised the alarm over the large debt left behind by Amaechi. We however gathered from a reliable source, that President Buhari has been under pressure since his victory by some stakeholders of the APC especially from the South-West who felt their financial support contributed greatly to his overwhelming victory at the poll. Buhari was said to have rejected severally the ministerial nominees list doctored by these APC South-West cabals on the ground that he decides who works with him and would only consider someone based on merit. This we gathered informed Buhari’s statement in his inaugural speech after he was sworn-in on Friday, that he is for everyone and not for anyone. Our source maintained that the list of ministerial nominees published by an online news portal which the APC hierarchy disowned before the inauguration was actually presented to Buhari but his refusal to accept or look at it forced the APC to disown it in order not to expose the party’s in-house rancor to the public. Our source further said that Buhari being a disciplinarian believes that Fashola and Amaechi who were among those who flouted his directive to all out-going governors to settle their debts before vacating office are not fit enough as well as prudent to be considered in his cabinet. Besides, Buhari is said to have confidence in the personalities that worked with him during his 20 months administration in 1983 and would only consider new faces on the ground of merit. “We could see the return of Tam David West and others soon.” Our source said. But Fashola’s camp however are attributing his rejection to the cold war between him and Bola Tinubu saying their principal is being witch-hunted by his political god-father over personal disagreement. According to them, rather than fighting, they should be worried that APC is about to be high jacked by the northerners, citing Buhari’s recent visit to London where none of the South-West APC stalwarts was informed, they feared that Buhari will not carry the South-west APC echelons along. http://thecityreporters.com/exclusive-i-will-not-consider-you-for-ministerial-appointment-buhari-tells-fashola-amaechi/[/quote look at the agents of change campiagners own all over of the world.the change has come indeed |

Politics › Re: Gmb's Eligibilty : APC Banking On Violence To See Buhari Through! by lawrsmith(m): 9:29am On Mar 25, 2015 |
dearpreye: These APC folks are not democratic in any bit. They don't believe in it. They have demonstrated that times without number. They are a group of bellicose folks relying on fear( and threat of violence) to have their candidate, GMB, contest in the forthcoming elections. They have issued series of threats to the entire nation.
Today the courts will be ruling on the Buhari certificate matter as all the cases have been consolidated.
The APC has already sent a threat to the Judiciary, and by extension, to the whole nation. In a press statement Lai Mohammed said '' If it is true, as it is being widely speculated across the country, that the Jonathan administration has procured a judgment to disqualify the APC presidential candidate on Wednesday, when the Federal High Court in Abuja is expected to rule on the issue, then it portends a great danger for our country"
See thread: https://www.nairaland.com/2214208/jonathan-procured-judgement-disqualify-buhari
The message is simple. If that judge rules against Buhari today the judgment was procured and there will be trouble.
But if the judge rules in favour of Buhari, I'm sure they will celebrate it as victory for democracy. Then you will definitely hear how Jonathan attempted to bribe and threatened the judge. Epic hypocrisy! Some social media hirelings will go bureau de change, snap picture of a lots of dollars, then spread it as the dollars given to the judge which he rejected.
This is another threat from the APC about the elections. The trial judge is clearly intimidated and might not be fair in this judgment today.
When Buhari sacked a whole generation of elected Nigerians in 1983, from councilors all the way to the Presidency, Nigeria didn't burn.
Today a court can't even attempt to disqualify him from contesting an election, because people are afraid his brethren will cause chaos and go about killing innocent people. That fear, capable of preventing his disqualification, is what the APC is banking on. Every sane and non-partisan supporter knows Buhari has not met the Constitutional provision as far as his certificate is concerned; there's no denying it. When he went to London, why didn't he take a short trip to Cambridge to get his certificate? No, he didn't believe the masses matter. He knew the fear of his people going on a killing spree will be enough to prevent his disqualification. Its obvious he DOES NOT posses that required CERTIFICATE.
I urge the Federal government to reassure the trial judge that NOTHING will happen if Buhari is disqualified. The rule of law can not be changed to the rule of fear!
The judiciary has the right to rule out the deployment of military personnel at the polls, but has NO right to disqualify an unqualified political aspirant. What a gang of hyenas these APC folks are!
The nuisance level of Buhari is what's keeping him in the race. He is a man who does not have enough followers to win the election but has enough to cause a bloody mayhem. He's tacitly banking on that.
I pray the judgment comes without fear or favour.
Come this Saturday Nigerians will vote massively for President Jonathan, no matter what happens at the courts.
God will help us! well said |

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,
Why then do catholics have mary as a mediator? 2 mediators? Mary was a "born again" Christian who received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and spoke in tongues (Acts 1:14, 2:3).
food for thoughts did u have ephesians 6:18 in your bible? it says "praying always with all prayers and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all perserverance and supplication to all saints" thats why we catholic makes supplications to the saints as well as virgin mary because she is one of them. |

Former South African President, Thabo Mbeki and Former Nigerian Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar Monday, stormed Kaduna to meet with the Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari over the forth coming general elections.
At the end of the meeting which was held behind closed doors at General Buhari’s office along Jabi Road in an eyebrow area of Kaduna metropolis Monday morning, neither the visitors, nor General Buhari spoke with newsmen.
Mbeki and Abdulsalami left to the Kaduna International Airport to fly back to Abuja after a photo session which marked the end of the over one hour meeting.
However, a source close to General Buhari told our Correspondent that, the meeting was unconnected with the Presidential election rescheduled for March 28.
According to the source who spoke unofficially said, “They are here to prevail on General Buhari not to probe Jonathan after emerging President in the coming election.”
He went further to say that, “you see, they have realized that, all efforts to turn Nigerians against General Buhari have failed and all manner of opinion polls have favoured the old man, even the ones the government organized.
“They have also made several attempts to make the APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu compromise and sell out, but he has refused. So, having realized that, Buhari will win the election, they have been sending people to prevail on him not to probe Jonathan for his misdeed.
“So, this delegation was sent to beg General Buhari not to probe President Goodluck Jonathan after winning the election,”he said. this junk article has won the propangander of the year.i fore see potential problem that will erupt after this election and subsequently will leads to mass killings of innocent citizens after the election.and that is this feeling in APC camp that they have won the general election.and the consequences of this believe is that even though that GEJ later wins in free and fair election plateform, APC hoodlum will result to killings of innocent citizen.APC should stop this their illusion that they have won the election because it will boomerange them if they eventually losed the election. |
PDP lays fresh ambush against election
There are indications that the national leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party might have perfected a fresh strategy aimed at stalling the March 28 presidential election.
Investigations by our correspondent in Abuja on Thursday and Friday showed that the ruling party was actually the brain behind those who registered Young Democratic Party and that it may use this new party to achieve its objective.
The new party had on Thursday asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to postpone the forthcoming general elections.
National Publicity Secretary of YDP, Mr. Ugo Nwofor, said there were only two options available to INEC, saying the commission could either reprint its ballot papers and include the party with a view to accommodate the party’s candidates or shift the election
Shortly after the press briefing, one of the brains behind the YDP was seen at the national headquarters of the PDP in Abuja on Thursday evening, where he said he had come to confer with some of its officers.
In a confidential discussion with our correspondent, he said he had come to brief the party on the success of their legal work which made the court to order that the new party be registered.
When our correspondent called him on the telephone on Friday whether they were planning a fresh legal option to compel INEC to comply with the court order, he answered in the affirmative.
According to him, “Recall that I was at the national headquarters of the ruling party in Abuja on Thursday where I met our partners. We are working together to move the nation forward and deepen our renascent democracy.
“We have already fixed the dates for our convention and we would pick our presidential and other candidates for the elections. We expect INEC to give us a chance as stated in the court order.”
However, it was learnt that one of the strategies of the ruling party in connection with the YDP is to head for the court and ask that the presidential election be set aside, by pleading that the party was excluded.
“This is what we would do if President Jonathan loses the elections,” a source at the national headquarters of the party added.
But if the president wins, it was gathered that the party would not show any interest in pursuing any case in the court.
Nwofor, however, said that the party was interested in contesting the election, adding that this was in compliance with Sections 85 and 87 of the electoral Act.
“Because of this, the party has fixed its governorship/House of Assembly and Presidential and National Assembly primaries for March 26 and 27 respectively,” he added.
It was gathered that the party cleverly picked the dates in order to make sure that the election slated for March 28 does not hold or to make it have a legal proof for exclusion. The party was believed to have known that submission of candidates list for elections expired 60 days to the election.
He described the Wednesday’s judgement as victory for democracy, rule of law and triumph over impunity. APC=Alarmist people congress has come with their junk article, who on earth will believed this sponsored jumble article from punch apart from gullible APC supporters? you guys should stop this buffon game. |

kolonigga: The Director, Media and Information Technology, Buhari Campaign Organisation, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, has said that the wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), will not join the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, to play political thuggery, because she is not a tout
Maduekwe, in an interview with Saturday PUNCH in Abuja on Thursday, said, “You should know it is beneath the person of our respected General’s wife to join issues with Dame Patience Jonathan.
“Mrs. Jonathan has clearly shown that she lacks the discipline and composure required of the occupant of the office of the First Lady. It is neither the General’s style nor is his Madam’s style to join Mrs. Jonathan to play the role of political tout.
“Mrs. Buhari is too refined and well groomed to descend to the level of insulting someone else’s husband in the name of politics.
“There is this adage which says you don’t run after a mad person who took your cloth while you were taking your bath because those who see you running after the mad person may not distinguish between the mad person and you.” The campaign organisation was reacting to a report that Mrs. Jonathan said Buhari might be brain dead because of his age at a campaign rally in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Tuesday.
Patience had said that old people might not reason very well because of their ageing mind.
She said, “Vote for my husband, Jonathan. Do not vote for Buhari. He is an old man. People, when they become old, may not reason well and their brain may even be dead.”
Reacting to Mrs. Jonathan’s comments on Buhari, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, also described her as “an embarrassment to Nigerians and Nigeria.”
Dabiri-Erewa, who is a cognate member of the APC in the House, said, Mrs. Jonathan was not only “crude” in her actions, but her utterances had taken away the “poise” associated with the office of the First Lady.
She said of all Nigeria’s First Ladies, Mrs. Jonathan remained the “worst.”
Dabiri-Erewa said, “Mrs. Jonathan is an embarrassment to the whole country. The only people shouting her praise or listening to her are the sycophants; outside them, nobody else does.
“She is crude and unrefined. When you travel out of the country, Nigerians keep asking you how we came this bad.”
Another member of the Buhari campaign, who asked not to be named, told Saturday PUNCH, “Mrs. Buhari does not have a structure different from that of General Buhari.
“The campaign has already responded copiously to the reckless statement by Mrs. Jonathan. Besides, the general’s wife accompanied her husband on the trip to London.”
In a statement signed by the APC’s campaign’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Wednesday, the party said the President’s wife was insultive.
The APC campaign urged President Jonathan to caution his wife.
