Shy-One:
why did you mention hookers in your thought you typed above?  please clue me in as to where that belongs in the conversation?  I like to see how people think so I can learn them as a person.

500.00 round trip?  you are kidding me - first class?  How did you do that?  I am sooo jealous - FIRST CLASS?  Tailor-made for 160.00? You can't even buy it off the rack for that amount.  Why don't you look around for some business opportunities in the East and post a list for us - I would be very, very interested.  (Have money can travel)

Chima told me to get planted with the Embassy as did one of my "clients of significance" who is lifelong friends with the previous Ambassador Carrington. So I grabbed the referral.  How far is Ikeja from the Omole area of Lagos?

I love Asian music - the arrangements they put together are so exotic and so calming and so smooth - I love the flow - if you hear any music that is of note - send it my way, would you?
Oh you never heard about Bangkok and it being the transvestite hub of the world? You see, some of these dudes who just jump into bed with anything that wears a skirt will get themselves into the wrong kinda trouble in a place like Bangkok.

Lax is waaayyyy too paranoid to even fool with all that foolishness (hookers). Plus AIDS is REAL

I do have a picture of the suit that my friend got made for him for that price. Off the chain! Lots of business opportunities in the east. My business interest is residential construction. There is a huge opportunity for that in Nigeria

@ Lax

Also I appreciate your boldness, but you are a man and it is expected from you to be just that and people appreciate and admire bold men.  As a woman on a personal side and as a woman on a business side - my approach has to be much more humble - I need to restrain myself - because I just never know who will be my next client and also if my guy and I don't work out - I could be offending someone who God might have picked out to be my next mate or inlaw or even a neighbor - I could very well move into a home and the person I offended on NL or anywhere else on my daily route could be my new neighbor.

This is a very, very small world and men have it much easier than women.  They just do - people are more understanding and more forgiving of men then they are of women.

Those that you offend today could be the very soul that you rely on tomorrow.  And that is real talk.
Sister Shyone.

I will tell you a thing or two about Lax, if you are comfy wth sending your email addy. It might help you not only in your ventures in Naij, but in life as a whole.

Thanx. Trust me I've heard about "Bangkok" and only customers of hookers should be worried about ending up with a tran. Not Lax. I'm way too much of a paranoid and cautious guy.

Was able to get a first class ticket for less than $500 grin thnx to a high profile buddy pass and will be staying for about a week. Will see about posting a thread in the travel section. Have a friend who was in Bangkok not too long ago and you should see the custom made suit he got for $160 (including cashmere wool material and labor). You lot should look at the east for business opportunities (Especially China and Thailand)

I'm glad that you have made arrangements with the US embassy in Lagos. Smart move!! How many hotels have you looked at in Lagos? Thing is, there aren't that many to choose from if you want a comfortable stay.

@ Sister Shy-one

I have told you before to speak your mind and not give a damn! Let them think you are being stuck up. Who are they but a bunch of usernames? The hotels in Lagos ARE over-priced and they capitalize on the fact that there aren't enough 5-star hotels to drive the prices down. I plan on travelling to Bangkok this fall and staying at the Lebua Hotel (where they even pick you up from the airport in a BMW 7 Series and where they filmed hangover II) and guess what? This hotel is half the price of Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja! I have stayed at the Plaza hotel and its about $100 less than the Sheraton Ikeja or some other Hotels in Naij. Please be sure to register yourself at the US Embassy (assuming you have a US passport) once you get to Naij, this way, it will be easier to prove your identity if ever your passport is stolen while staying at any of these hotels. It has happened to my brother once.

Its really pathetic.

Shy-One:
I will have to ignore her from now on because basically I am tired of it - It also knocks me off track mentally and it does become upsetting in the end - it does.

You know what - saw a hotel called Excellence - I wanted to stay there for a few days while looking for a place to stay - but when I was online looking at the rooms I was a bit disappointed.

So I was browsing through r231's profile and saw the hotels listed in his wedding album with him and his lovely wife and I was very impressed with those hotels - so I think it will be one of those - I think they are on the island.

But then I saw that Lekki got flooded and I don't want to deal with flooded areas so I might have to stay at the Excellence until I find a suitable - longer term setup.

What would you suggest?
Sister ShyOne.

Honestly I think the hotels in Lagos are way over-priced. Seriously. I am not impressed with any of them. Do you know that the sheraton hotel in ikeja is even more expensive or as much as the plaza hotel or waldorf astoria?

Pathetic!

All the bullets I had to dodge.   .   .   and counting  undecided

Mrs, Chima:
I have told you many time that YOU ARE OVERLY sensitive and stop thinking just because someone respond to your comments don't take it personal.

If pregnancy is the reason why women are overly emotional then YOU MUST BE PREGNANT because you was very emotional on the stingy thread.

I didn't even quote you when I wrote my opinions about appearance and impressions. So I don't know why YOU took it as we are at odds. There are other chatters on the thread beside you.

I have nothing AGAINST you and I am not the only person who thought that you take things too personal. Even you admitted in an apology thread to me that you were overly sensitive.
Mrs, Chima:
You just said you agree with Lax and sensed that I was emotional.  Goodness!  Trust me we wouldn't have been in a slinging match because I have no intention on REPEATING the same thing to 22 pages like the other thread.

And if you was comprehending anything I said on this thread you would see NOTHING I was in support of men calling women whores because they dress like whores.  I simply said in the men point of view why would a self respected woman dress like a LovePeddler?  Just because a woman isn't a LovePeddler will NOT CHANGE a man point of view of a woman if she dresses or carries herself such as .

Then your cheerleader went on and on about emotions because I was confused on what the bleep a fat bank account has to do with a man's perception of a woman.

But of course, you went on a tangent about something else and maybe you are still on the stingy thread and thought you was talking to MBJ and co.

I am done with this.  Redundancy time waster.

My cheerleader?  What are you implying?  You are seeing things - NOTHING LIKE THEY REALLY ARE - Also - I used a man who looks poor but is really rich to kick down the As$-umption that Looks and First Impressions AREN'T RELIABLE.  Why are bringing in MBJ's name on any level?  I wish that had never happened but you want to get him started on me again?  Is that your angle here?  I'm not understanding why you are pointing at that more than once NOW.

Yes, you are emotional OVERLY SO - Also, many models dress skimpy for a fashion reason - but that doesn't align them with being some kind of LovePeddler.

Anyway - can we just MOVE ON PLEASE?  Just focus on the thread - I'm sorry I said anything at all.  Please.

Will you be staying on the Island when you visit Nigeria? It will be interesting to hear what you have to say from your observations once you are on ground.

Again WHY YOU STILL PUTTING ON AN OSCAR PERFORMANCE? It doesn't matter whether you got the point or not YOU MADE a judgment and thanks for proving my point.

That was easy.

Trust me I haven't insulted you yet.
Mrs Chima.

Go ahead and insult. What makes you think I would care? Do you really think that highly of yourself that your insults (especially with the way you butcher the English language) would mean anything to me? Wow! You are just a "username" to me for crying out loud sake. I don't even know if you are a man, woman or anything. So why would I even stoop to your level of insulting you when I know NOTHING about you.

Anyways, I will stick to the topic from this point on.

Lax

I have told Chima that many, many, many times before - but I don't think she is listening.  She is pregnant and I think that her emotions are highly charged and I don't even think Chima really knows it.  Chima and I used to bump heads alot a while back but we seemed to be leveling out here recently.  But now - it seems we are at odds again all of a sudden.

I think if she steps back and reads what she wrote in many, many threads a month from now - she will see it.  I was reading some stuff I wrote on different threads a while back and I thought to myself, "Wow did I say that" - "I need to calm down."

Now - Chima is going to charge me for saying this - and I'm not trying to attack her.  Anyway just because the thread got off - we need to get it back to the topic - it has only been off topic for a small while.
I agree. We should stick to the topic then, Sister. Observe that I refer to everyone as brother this, sister that. Even when they are comng across insulting. Regardless, I appreciate naija peeps. Even Sister Tpia.  undecided

Why are YOU putting on an Oscar performance then?  You are the one cheerleading about people doesn't have to agree when NO ONE SAID anything about people should agree.

It isn't that serious.
Jesus Wept!

How does the above translate to cheerleading, Sister Chima? I was just making a general statement about how people handle and react to a difference of opinions here. It's ok for people NOT to agree. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the point that you are trying to make here because I don't get the correlation.

And I keep referring to your emotions, not just because of this thread.

Shy-One:
uuuuhhhhh - I don't what you are talking about C - not sure how to answer - since I don't know exactly what you mean - and also see this is the 2nd time now you are asking about money, don't understand that continuously being brought up either -  huh

Also - I am reading further in the thread now - I see Lax mentioned emotions - Nothing personal against you at all - but you do sound quite strong on the emotions - I too thought the same way with the "LovePeddler Descriptions Given" - The word "LovePeddler is a strong word" - so let me just back out - we are all just giving thoughts and contributing.

My bad, sorry if I seem to be attacking you - It wasn't personal at you at all - just the analogy with "women being called whores or seen as being a LovePeddler because of their clothing"

In Monroe Louisiana in the summer - a very large number of women wear swimming suits, with high heel shoes and jewlery, makeup and perfume to restaurants to eat - white and black women - rich and poor - it's because of the heat element.  That has been going on for years.  They are not viewed as whores.  That is why I stated that - I was responding to the analogy - not attacking you as a person - I rely on your posts as you know - I've been grateful for your posts.

So let me make myself clear to you on that.  I am just giving my thoughts which are opposite that's all.
Strong is an understatement. The moment one posts anything that defiles Sister Chima's law, it becomes a war.  Sister Chima is SUPER emotional

You should follow by example. Practice what you preach. According to you, someone is emotional when they say poo and bleep. Keep playing cheerleader.

I don't need Shyone or anyone else to agree with me. Agreements doesn't add value to my opinions.
Sister Chima!

Why?

Why the theatrics? Sister Shy-one was talking about NIGERIA and NOT AMERICA when I replied to her posting. And that is why I say I was talking about this issue it pertains to NIGERIA.

Anyways, all good. Noone has to agree with anyone here.

Emotions? Get real.
Sister Chima!

Yes to the bolded!

Please take your own advice. And yes, I said it. Emotions. When anyone disagrees with Mrs. Chima dialogues get filled with "pleep" this and "poo" that in an attempt to get your point across. That's why I refer to what you told Sister Shy-one earlier (re: it's not that serious)

It should help if you take your own advice. You keep saying refer to the topic and I am referring to the topic even with different poo is thrown in it that has NOTHING to do with Nigeria.

Anyway, keep playing ping pong with yourself. Unlike the stingy thread, redundancy is time waster.
Sorry to disappoint you. I don't play ping pong. I thought you told Sister Shy-one that it's not that serious? Why the emotions? It's simply a difference of opinion and that's that.
BusinessRe: 'RUNS' Business In Nigeria: A Multi-billion Naira Industry? by Lax75(m): 10:34pm On Sep 17, 2011
Mrs, Chima:
I don't need to refer to the topic because the topic has already been derailed with other poo thrown in the mix.
This is false. You should refer to the topic since you were trying to make a point that counters the point that I was trying to make.
Again, your opinion about you not giving a bleep isn't stopping the women from being called whores.
Once again, you should re-read my post and "comprehend." Reducing the "BOYS" was not the intention of the point I was trying to make. How about the women I talked about that also join the labelling of such women? I was talking about how hypocritical and judgemental OUR people can be.
BusinessRe: 'RUNS' Business In Nigeria: A Multi-billion Naira Industry? by Lax75(m): 10:22pm On Sep 17, 2011
Mrs, Chima:
Nigeria isn't the only country that think women wearing mini skirts and dressing whorish are whores.  lets not make it just about Nigeria because America has it bad too.
Please refer to "topic." We are talking about NIGERIA here, NOT America. So I will talk about the topic as it pertains to Nigeria.
The fact that YOU don't care if a woman wearing a mini skirt doesn't reduce the BOYS that are calling women who dress like whores, WHORES.
My intention of stating that I don't care was NOT to reduce the BOYS that are calling women who dress like whores, WHORES. Not sure where this "inference" came from. If you read my post and understood it, you will observe that I am implying that these BOYS are judgemental.
BusinessRe: 'RUNS' Business In Nigeria: A Multi-billion Naira Industry? by Lax75(m): 10:07pm On Sep 17, 2011
Shy-One:
Appearance and behavior? dress like a LovePeddler? Really? You can't be serious with that remark - One man's trash is another man's treasure - REMEMBER THOSE WORDS Mrs. C.

Some religions in Nigeria look down on women who wear pants and you and I both know that is WRONG.

Wearing short dresses doesn't make a woman a LovePeddler - you didn't wear short dresses before you were married? What behavior is whorish? Living in a home alone? That's whorish behavior - having drinks at a pub with other women who dress well too? I just saw a picture of a man's wife cooking in her own kitchen for her husband wearing a short dress and she isn't a LovePeddler.

Also - a woman can wear a dress that is above her knee and other people can consider that being a "short dress"

Also - how much of a person's behavior do you have to observe for you to consider them a LovePeddler? I have seen many people only glance at a woman and judge her where she stands and that is less than 10 minutes.

Don't be quick to judge - open a book before you start talking appearance and behavior.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS? This isn't a JOB INTERVIEW.
Nigeria is an extremely pretentious society where its all about "appearance." You will find some of the biggest whores in church, yet they don't wear micro-minis and dress like nuns.

Personally, I don't see nothing wrong with a woman dressing to flaunt her "stuff." It's her body. However, I don't really care for those that appear to be desperate for attention and do it to the point where its crying out, "look at me!" I'm more turned on by a woman that dresses in such a way that she is sexy, but only leaves abit to the eye as a "tease" but leaves the rest for the imagination.

But hey, that's me. And one man's treasure is another man's trash. Our people can be so darn judgemental and superficial. Yet behind closed doors they are into all sorts of mess, even more sinful than you imagine. The same ones that are quick to call a chick a LovePeddler because of how she dresses, etc, could be the same ones who kidnap and use body parts for rituals. And don't assume that it's just the men that would call these "risky dressers" whores. The women do it too. As much as the men. Same women who will be quick to judge another woman because of what she wears would be the same woman who is married and plugging her woli's brains out behind closed doors.

Bloody unbelievable!

I was reading one statement and the thought occurred to me that what if you are a "legitimate business career girl" and you live on the Island or in Lagos or Abjua and from reading this thread - others believe that you are a "Runs Girl"

Because you wear short skirts (cooler to wear in heat), drive a nice vehicle, live in a nice area and live alone or with a female roommate.

Let's make sure we aren't just jumping to the conclusion that everyone who falls in that category actually LovePeddlers themselves to the highest bidder.

You would be doing someone an injustice if you have that in your thought about them and approach them on that level - assumptions make an "As$s" out of the owner of that assumption.
