Yeah. It was indeed a huge conspiracy and anyone that worked with Abacha is definitely culpable, including the PTF boss. ( whoever that was) |
Thank you Shehu. It was indeed a masterstroke from the president. What I don't understand is that at what point did PMB realised that Abiola actually won the election and should be honoured? Was it while he was serving as the PTF boss under the same man that incarcerated Abiola. PMB isn't very much different from same people Garba is disparaging now. They all were Abacha praise singers while Abiola was languishing in detention for his elusive mandate. |
The resolute, impartial and learned judge deserves the accolade. If only we could have such fearless judges who will put these pen and armed robbers where they rightly belong - the prison. |
APC could have done all within its powers to avoid the recent congresses. It has created more division than healing wounds. The National convention might be the last straw. I don't envy the incoming chairman as he's going to have an herculean task calming frayed nerves ahead of the forthcoming general elections. The deadliest enemies are those attacking from within. |
Ok |
The questions are: Is it true that PMB signed the not too young bill? AND Is it also true that the President's party nominates a 74 years old man as running mate to its guber candidate just about the same time? Reno seems to be doing exactly what Lai did to GEJ's administration. |
It is established that the rich and the elite love evading paying taxes and levies to the government. If the Senator is truly owing, he should pay up without unnecessarilly inciting public sentiments On the other hand, I'm Just curious as to why the period during which the debt was incured was omitted in the letter. Those who hold the handle of the sword now should know that power is transient. |
Did the Police also arrest his seat? Was his seat damaged during senate invasion? Drama pregnant with meaning. |
The toughest job perhaps is to be a lawyer, a politician and a then a pastor in Nigeria. How he would be able to do these without compromise requires a miracle. |
Good way to go, provided the padding wasn't done with connivance from the highest place. The anti corruption agencies should be independent enough to act once infractions are noted. SERAP should also drag the president to court to force him to prosecute the Ex SGF, Maina, Oke etc |
This is the sort of court order the FG would obey promptly. The sickening silence over the budget padding allegation should worry everybody. The anti corruption agencies needs not wait for the court order or presidency directive before clamping down on the thieving lawmakers |
He may be right. But the generalisation is what's not right. Some areas might have seen an improvement in power supply but not my area, and I am a Nigerian. I still buy fuel steady, and at higher price than in 2015. |
Someone in the government needs to puncture this issue of 11 trillion naira borrowed in 3 years. It seems like one of those figures manufactured and bandied around by the mischievous propagandists. Or could it be true? |
Senate is part of the retirement packages for the Governors after serving their people 'meritoriously' for 8 years Unless he is extremely unpopular, he is likely going to get the ticket and the mandate since all he need is just a few LGs that make up the senatorial district. |
It may take a while for us to get it right in this country. What is the business of a State Assembly validating or invalidating the candidature of anyone? Granted that they are majorly PDP members and Fayose's lackeys , they could individually support their party's candidate without necessarily turning it to the business of the entire house. That's sycophancy taken too far. They could hold their plenary in the bedroom of their master as long as they have the mace and need not deny the public access to the road. That’s unnecessary public obstruction Should Fayemi win the election, don't be surprised that some of these people will still defect to his side. |
Ok |
Let's imagine Atiku defeats Buhari in the forthcoming election. There is every likelihood that if 'invited', Garba will still work for him in that same presidency and still ditch out anti opposition statements against APC without battling an eyelid. I think that's what Reno means by AGIP. If anyone is to condemn PDP, it shouldn't be any of those that benefitted from its largesse even if it's just for six months. Truly there isn't morality in politics as they say, especially in this part of the world. |
Very well. We will be glad if this administration can grow the balls to prosecute him. One just wonders when the corruption fighters realised that OBJ squandered $16b. Was it while he was still the navigator of APC or when he became the tormentor in chief of PMB? It is expedient that this is explained so that it won't appear as though this corruption - fighting government is after dissenting voices. That aside, I hope Prof Sagay hasn't forgot about the expose he promised to release on Saraki led NASS spending. We're still waiting sir. |
A handful of them are former governors who see the Senate as a part of their retirement package. We're tired of hearing about their corruption cases in court. What we want is quick and fair trial and the offenders duly punished. Chikena! |
Is there anywhere called Yobe in Adamawa? |
Credible Source? In any case, allowing the law makers insert such amount into the budget isn't in the interest of the public. This is the way I see it, the Executives may have already inflated the budget and the Legislators feel justified to pad it too. After all it's a national cake and it's unending. Otherwise the silence of the Executive over the matter makes them culpable. |
OBJ isn't a saint and I support that he should be probed and prosecuted if necessary. However a government that idolizes Abacha despite his documented human right abuses and unending repatriation of his many loots, has lost the moral right to do so. Treating the killer herdsmen with kid gloves while unleashing the harsh apparatus of the state on a freedom seeking group will hunt this government in the long run. |

It's absolutely embarrassing to see herds of cattle roaming the street and even invading airports and government offices. Was it any better during GEJ's tenure? Successive governments have conveniently ignored the menace of herdsmen and their cattle so as not to hurt a particular group. This government is however seems notorious in this negligence. |
The handwriting has been on the wall for a long time. Why the duo had to wait till the state congress that affirmed ElRufai's stronghold of the party structure is what I don't understand. It will be tough for the two to contest and win elections in another party devoid of Sai Baba's influence in Kaduna State. I wish they try though, if not for anything but to set a precedence that a candidate does not necessarily have to hero worship a god father to win elections like the self acclaimed Buharist in the government house. |
There is actually nothing wrong and illegal in such businesses like GNLD. What seems not proper is the brainwashing and mesmerism of their 'victims' plus the largely unrealistic hope they give them. It appears they are now on the prowl of young secondary school leavers who have the energy to hawk their expensive drugs and product under the scorching sun. An acquitance left his teaching job against all counsels for GNLD sometimes ago. He was already building castles in the air and condemning salary earners. Thank God for Npower that came to his rescue when the scales fell off his eyes. |
A government that cares about the welfare of the citizens would have addressed the wanton exploitation at the JAMB and would wait until it is called out. A legislature that wants to be taken serious would have concluded debate on the validity of the UTME by now and the propriety or otherwise of the Post Utme. I won't be surprised if this noise die a natural death in few days to come. Someone once said Nigeria is a theatre of absurdity. |
2024 is still some 6 years away. So many things could still be done to the constitution to accommodate 'so many things' before then. |
The state governor already zoned APC's guber ticket to Yewa where Isiaka is from. There are two options available for him; he could join APC as being speculated over his recent romance with state governor OR he could join Obasanjo 's coalition as being touted by some members of his Believe Movement. Whichever way, good luck to him as he takes the shot at the plum office for the third time. |
This has been my position https://www.nairaland.com/4255607/call-downward-review-utme-fee The National Assembly should also look into the cost of Data Correction. #2500 is still high. Mean while, the post utme fee of some school is as high as #10000 ( Ondo State University of Medical Sciences). This official exploitation should end. The National Assembly should do the needful once and for all. I sincerely hope I won't be disappointed by the National Assembly. |
Politicians and the elites sure know how to explore the lacuna in the constitution to suit their whims and caprices. He should have also tried to secure court orders restraining the NASS from summoning him ab initio Why should giving your account of what transpired during such an ignominious act be a problem if you aren't culpable? Shouldn't the public investigation be seen as an opportunity for him to clear his name? |
