jnfoage: SMH. This is what christianity is actually about. They insult other religion to authenticate their own, and spread propaganda, what a logic. Now, what is the relationship between the comment you responded to and Prophet Muhammad? Or is that the easter/sunday lesson? Point of correction pls, that Jesus died for the world is a belief held by only Christians, not the world. Muslims, Bhudists, Hinduist etc don't hold that belief. So next time, don't say "the world", but "christians". Jesus did not die for Christians. He needn't have done that. He died, in advance, to save the entire world from the consequence of their sins; which is eternal damnation. That is why whosoever believes and at any time he does believe receives eternal life. |

According to reports, the little girl's hands were placed in a gas stove by her grandmother until her hands got badly burnt because the hungry girl ate Indomie noodles against her grandmother's wish. The sad incident happened some days ago in Benin city, Edo state.
A well meaning Nigerian who witnessed the incident reported the case to the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and the Ministry has stepped in, arrested the grand mother and have taken the child to UBTH for prompt medical care and attention.

Politics › Re: Top 10 Takeaways From President Buhari’s Visit To Lagos By Abdulkabir Olatunji by Lightening: 3:04pm On Mar 30, 2018 |
Opinionated: By Abdulkabir Olatunji
Lagos, the centre of excellence is playing host to President Muhammadu Buhari and as expected there is a lot of chatter about this visit.
having taken time to closely follow this historic visit, these are my top 10 takeaways from the visit:
1. President Buhari is Likely to be Reelected for a 2nd Term
Regardless of your political inclination you should learn to read strategic political moves and if you understand how the president got elected in 2015 you will appreciate that he managed to galvanize majority of the power brokers that got him elected yesterday at the 10t h Bola Tinubu Colloquium. They are now firmly behind him and he looks unstoppable for 2019 barring any miracle of humungous proportions.
2. Bola Tinubu is the Most Influential Politician in Nigeria It is almost useless to try to list who was present yesterday at the colloquium because anybody who is anybody was there bar a very small handful of people mainly former Heads of State and Presidents, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, APC Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun who seems to be losing out in the All Progressives Congress (APC) internal power struggle. Outside of these major players, practically everybody else who matters was there from traditional leaders to governors to the captains of Industry. They were all there to celebrate the man that President Buhari described as a ‘strategist’. No doubt, he is the leading political strategist of our time in Nigeria.
3. President Yemi Osinbajo is intent on Prosecuting Former President Goodluck Jonathan
Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo seems intent on exposing the alleged corruption of the former President, Goodluck Jonathan and some of his cronies. He again attacked the former president for looting the treasury.
Read some of his words at the event:
“And when we say that this same government that spent N139 Billion only on all of Agric, Power, Works and Housing, Transport, etc; spent between January 2015 and the elections, the sum of a N100 Billion in cash and 289 million dollars, altogether about a 100 Billion in cash, was released and spent, shared.
“This sum of money was in excess of the amount of money that was spent on Power, Works and Housing. And this is the point we are making, that there is no country in the world, and we must know this; there is no country in the world that would allow its resources to be plundered in the way our own resources were plundered and expect to be economically viable; it is not possible.
“Nigeria is unlike any other country because of the level of corruption that was perpetrated. We must stop that corruption and that is why we are so committed.
“When you fight corruption the way we are fighting it, corruption is going to fight back. The system would fight back. You will find that the fight-back is taking place everywhere, it is taking place on social media, it is taking place everywhere. But we are determined.”
How far he and the administration are determined to go, we shall see in the future.
4. Governor Ambode will stop at Nothing to Please his Political Benefactor
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is a direct product of the Tinubu brand of politics and it is obvious to see that he is taking every measure to honour the President who is obviously a key ally of his political benefactor; from declaring a work-free day for civil servants, to closing major roads to the extent that the president felt compelled to overrule some of the restrictions. The Ikeja computer village at was shut and the Ikeja branch of the Nigerian Bar Association felt the full weight of the government’s instruments of coercion over its planned protest over the new Land Use Charge rates which have become a source of conflict in Lagos. Security agents were deployed to the branch’s office and its chairman, Adeshina Ogunlana, confirmed the development to press stating:
“The police have invaded my secretariat, there are about 50 of them who are armed, and they are saying that they don’t want the protest tomorrow (Thursday, 29th March, 2018).
5. Tinubu Does Not Appreciate Obasanjo’s Letter Writing
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu took a dig at former President Obasanjo over his letter-writing, tagging his letter ‘bad-belle’ writer wondering if the latter “had not been there before”. The former president has in recent months tried to position himself as the de facto leader of the opposition to President Buhari. Tinubu is definitely not impressed.
Read what he said: “I remember my grandmother used to send me to a letter writer in the post office of those days and near the magistrate court. So somebody is writing letters these days, a letter of politics, as if they’ve never been there before. Bad belle letters.”
6. Saraki and Dogara are in the Political Wilderness
Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara have not managed to get themselves back into the mainstream of the APC after they partnered with opposition PDP lawmakers to get elected as the presiding officers of the 2 chambers of the National Assembly. Their absence at the Bola Tinubu Colloquium shows that they feel ostracized enough from the Buhari-Tinubu axis of power within the party to stay away altogether. It will be interesting to see what moves they will make as 2019 approaches.
7. Chief John Odigie-Oyegun’s Days as APC Chairman Look to be Ending Soon Certain events are indicative of the state of political relationships and who is actually in power and those out of it. If Chief Oyegun could not find his way to the Colloquium of his party’s strongman, which event will he now attend? Deciding to miss the event was a big political blunder on the APC Chairman’s part. He should have learnt from Tinubu who continued to work with President Buhari even when they seemed to have diverged politically when the latter got sworn-in as president and started pandering to other interests.
8. Lagos, Sorry, Bourdillon is now the Political ‘Capital’ of Nigeria Now that President Buhari has shown that he is firmly in Tinubu’s camp, practically every other politician who wants to achieve their political dreams through the APC will try at the very least to be in the good books of the ‘Lion of Bourdillon’ who has definitely found his roar back. You can be sure that many politicians who had been developing anti-Tinubu tendencies in the last 3 years will be finding ways to retrace their steps. Tinubu is a believer in ‘the more, the merrier’. He is likely to accept them.
9. The Opposition will have a tough Time Regaining Power in 2019
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu himself has said it: “that party (PDP), should forget it, they are not coming back”. A large part of the opposition’s calculations thus far had been premised on the perceived rift between President Buhari and Tinubu. Now that we all know the rift is gone, what is the opposition left with? Not much, except by some miraculous means they manage to wrest power from the APC in 2019.
10.Shutting Down Eko Hotel is Becoming Stale
It was Olamide the Nigerian rap champion of the moment who bragged about “shutting down Eko Hotel” (the convention centre). However, the place was packed to the rafters yesterday to the point of overflowing which points to the fact that, Lagos needs a bigger indoor events centre that is not owned by a religious organization. The Buhari-Tinubu shutdown of Lagos points to this and many in Nigeria and beyond would have taken note.
Source: http://www.opinions.ng/top-10-takeaways-president-buharis-visit-lagos/ Afonjas are perpetual political scavengers. There is no way Tinubu will not end up in jail if Buhari wins second term. Two foxes can never coexist in one enterprise. |

Jones4190: WHO IS FOOLING WHO.
By the stroke of the pen, Abacha made TY a billionaire in dollars. When Odi happened TY was minister of defense. When Zaki Biam happened TY was minister of defense When the tribes on the Jos plateau aided and abetted by the state government attacked and murdered in thousands their Muslim neighbours including the herdsmen and in the process igniting the now trending farmers-herders conflict in 2001, TY was minister of defense. TY was strongly rumored to be the sole financier of the tribal wars that raged for almost a decade in the late 1990s and early 2000s between the Jukuns and Kutebs in his own state of Taraba. He is also fingered as the Jukun don in their continuing ethnic war with the Tivs.
In 2015, TY nominated and ensured that Darius Ishakua became the Governor of Taraba state inspite of rumours of massive vote rigging. TY was there when over 800 peaceful, unarmed, innocent Fulani herders along thousands of their cattle were massacred in cold blood in their ranches on the Mambilla plateau with active connivance, encouragement and support of his boy Darius Ishaku the governor of Taraba state. He was also there when the governor wrote a letter to the state commissioner of police and ordered the release of the few murderers earlier arrested for the crimes on the Mambilla Plateau.
TY was there again when the mambilla tribal militia returned on at least 3 more occasions to the herders' ranches to kill, maim, steal, burn and destroy lives and livelihoods. In all these, TY had nothing to say.
The hundreds of herders and others killed in his own state got neither his words of condolences, sympathy or relief from the billions of dollars he creamed off from the Nigerian state.
There's something very peculiar about the elite from the minority ethnic groups in northern Nigeria. It seems the only value they add to their states and people is hate, violence, intolerance and unending strife. How can a normal old man ask his children to take up arms?… Where are his biological kids as we speak? All in abroad. Nonsense Yet he's an elder statesman.
Agboola S Musa-barber. Between the Fulani and the Mambila militia, who is the aggressor here? Fulani's touched the tiger by the tail and it reacted and you are here whipping up sentiments. Why don't the mambila militia attack other settlers in Taraba if they are just hungry for blood, why Fulanis all the time? It is justifiable for them them to confront those who seek to take over their lands and destroy their livelihood. |

abc115: N13.5M Monthly Illegal Allowance: Lawmakers angry, plot against Whistle-blower Shehu Sani
The Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has angered a number of his colleagues for lifting the veil on the N13.5million illegal allowances members of the upper legislative chambers receive each month in addition to their legitimate salaries and allowances.
Some lawmakers who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES but asked not to be named said the revelation by Mr. Sani has damaged the reputation of the federal legislature while possibly pitting constituents against their representatives.
The aggrieved senators and members of the House of Representatives said some of their colleagues were already discreetly working out modalities to deal with the Kaduna lawmaker.
Mr. Sani had in an interview with TheNews revealed that he and his colleagues receive N13.5 million monthly as “running cost”, aside a N700,000monthly consolidated salary and allowances which they also receive.
Mr. Sani’s revelation is the first by a lawmaker from the Senate since the clamour by Nigerians for a full disclosure of lawmakers’ earnings.
The revelation has sparked widespread anger among Nigerians who had always criticised the lawmakers for arbitrarily allocating jumbo pay to themselves at a time the country remained in dire need of funds for developmental projects.
Ironically, Mr. Sani’s colleagues are criticising him for coming clean on the secret allowances lawmakers receive while majority of Nigerians wallow in poverty and disease.
Some of the lawmakers who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES said the revelation has the tendency of turning their constituents against them.
They said the revelation might instigate their constituents to make more financial demands from them
The lawmakers vowed to take necessary steps to make the next one year difficult for the Kaduna senator.
“He has brought his useless activism to the chamber creating the impression that we are all thieves without telling Nigerians details of what the money is used for ,” one lawmaker said. “There are are always ways of dealing with characters like that. Just wait and see.”
Part of the punishment the angry lawmakers are considering is to pressure the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to exclude Mr. Sani from subsequent ‘secret meetings’ of the senate, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.
They plan to prevail on Mr. Saraki to stop inviting him for such meetings, especially those where finances might be discussed.
The lawmakers are also weighing the option of recommending a probe of the whistle-blower to Mr. Saraki.
For them, Mr. Sani would have to explain why he turned himself to the senate spokesperson, speaking on behalf of others Shehu Sani
If adopted, Mr. Sani would be investigated by the senate’s ethics committee which shall recommend a punishment.
But some lawmakers are cautioning against any open rebuke of the senator, saying that might generate even more public anger against the Senate and its members.
Many Nigerians, including civil society organisations have commended Mr. Sani’s action. However, if eventually probed and found guilty by the ethics committee, Mr. Sani faces up to six to 12 months suspension.
In March 2017, when the former Senate Leader, Ali Ndume asked for investigation of allegations of importing a bullet proof range rover with fake documents involving Senate President Bukola Saraki and that of perjury involving Dino Melaye, the committee recommended 12 months suspension.
The suspension was later reduced to six months by the lawmakers.
Similarly, in the House of Representatives, a lawmaker from Kano, Abdulmumin Jibrin, was suspended for 180 days for revealing what is today known as budget padding.
His suspension was recommended by the House Ethics Committee which also prescribed that Mr. Jibrin will also not be able to hold any position of responsibility for the span of the current National Assembly.
Contacted on Saturday, Mr. Sani said he preferred not to comment on his colleagues’ moves. He promised to make comments if the need arises in future.
https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/261358-n13-5m-monthly-illegal-allowance-lawmakers-angry-plot-whistle-blower-shehu-sani.html So the sanctimonious common-sense senator has been collecting this kind of scandalous amount of money in emoluments even during recession when salaries of civil servants could not be paid. It took a 'less holy' senator to reveal this. What a shameless hypocrite. |
