They prefer both, it is more like....Money gets their attention. |
This is not good, they would have done it administratively through the court system. The US congress cannot pass a law that is applicable to just one individual. The Schiavo's feeding tube bill/law under Bush came readily to mind. If the law or bill is challenged, it will be thrown away, even if Obama signs it. The courts and States Department have enough leeway to grant him a stay. |
taharqa: Why must you be allowd to bear arms at all? Are d guns meant to be toys? Why wud people see d need to buy sophisticatd arms to protect themselves if they had faith in d State and its security apparatus (police, FBI etc) to protect them like we seem to bliv here in Nigeria? That i bliv was d guy's point.....all d talk of 'Constitutnal rights' et al is just long tori..The police, FBI, CIA, President, Congress, etc are government...the US constitution was primarily written to protect citizens against the government and the government cannot take those rights away even if it provides similar services to the citizen. This was rooted in the up raising against British rule in the US, which was another government. So since that up raising was done by ordinary citizens, the constitution of the US unlike any other constitution in the world give citizens the right to bear arms and raise against any unpopular government in the US or foreign in the future. The Supreme Court have recognize this basic right hence congress or the President cannot outlaw gun ownership however they can regulate it on limited bases. |
taharqa: GBAM!!Comparing this situation happening in Nigeria with the the US is like comparing apples to oranges. It is perfectly legal to own gun in the US, it is a 2nd amendment right and Obama can do nothing about it. This guy's mother legally obtain these guns, but somehow the son got hold of the gun and first shot and kill the mother before going on this shooting spray. If a Police Inspector or someone who owner a gun is overpowered and dispossessed of that gun, get killed and the killer goes on shooting spray in Nigeria, I do not think anyone will blame GEJ or the State government. |
Lordave: I thought they said their police is one of the bests in the world? The US constitution allow citizen to keep and bear arms, Police can do nothing about it. Police are there to police illegal activities, owning, keeping or bearing arms is not illegal but each State have their various gun control laws, like background checks, licensing, registration, limitation on where to use it, conceal carry-on, etc. If a Police stops me, in my State; am not obligated to tell them that am carrying a gun. However, if they want to search my person or my car, which I can refuse except they find a probable cause...if they find a gun during the search, all I have to do is to show them my gun permit and I will be on my way. |
I am one of the advocates of gun control, but gun control would not have prevented this or the Oregon Mall shooting. In both cases the guns were legally obtained, register but stolen by the perpetrators. In the school shooting, the guy first shot and killed his mother, who was the legal owner of the gun. America's pride themselves about their second amendment right to keep and arm themselves with gun. This is not a law that congress or Obama change and constitutional amendment of this, is a nonstarter in the US. All that Obama or congress can do is to put some strong gun control laws in the books in some State. Connecticut is in the East Cost; East Cost States have the toughest gun control laws in the US already and virtually little or nothing else can be done in these States regarding gun control safe for banning guns, which will be unconstitutional and the Supreme Court will strike down any law that ban gun ownership. |
techsuplex: Airtel Nigeria, this morning just hit us up with the news about completing their Long Term Evolution Networks trial in Lagos Nigeria, You will remember that we mentioned MTN and Globacom’s LTE plans a few months ago. From their tests, they were able to maintain connections as fast as 32-37 Mbps for downloads and 10Mbps for uploads. The tests were carried out in Lagos, but there are plans to carry out the same tests in other parts of the country. So if you have an LTE capable device and an airtel sim, you may want to flick the LTE antenna on every now and then to see if you catch one of the tests on a band your device supports. There are some misconceptions here...LTE is not 4G technology. 4G is based on 3gpp Release 10, current LTE deployments are still using release 8. You need a new SIM for LTE, the LTE radio interface is different from traditional UMTS radio...your cell phone must be capable of LTE & UMTS and you need an LTE capable sim to be able to hook up to an LTE signal. |
This is nothing but another conspiracy theory.....if you want to give credence to non sense like these?.......A more better one would be this: http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local&id=4244288 A girl born on 6/6/06 at 6:06am and weighs 6 pounds and 7 ounces.....or don't you think since Christ was a male, a more perfect gender for an anti-christ should be female? ... |
timpaker: eyah.. and how is it a crime? these CIA guys eh!CIA is the US and its not crime to read any magazine in the US, it is strong 1st amendment right. |
Revolva: yeah slapped gbosa and pushed into their bus for doing nothing illegal raiding Bleep the police slept in the station got bailed out the next morning with 1kThat is bride na and not bail. Bail is money or property that the government collect from an accused person to ensure his/her appearances in court and it is fully refunded when the case is closed either through acquittal, conviction or if the matter was never charged to court and the statue of limitation that alleged crime has passed. I know one will not get his/her if you carry this 'over sabi' to police station but this corrupt system of exploitation have to be stopped. |
Sincere 9gerian: This unsubstantiated SUPER STORY made front page on NL? Seun! Seun!! Seun!!! Using ones privilleged position or medium to FACILITATE lies and half-truths just to discredit political opponents is also a form of CORRUPTION.On one hand, you said the story is unsubstantiated and you immediately proffer that it is lies, half-truth and its intention is to discredit opponents, without offering any insight into what made you to run into that conclusion. It is human nature to react if someone makes a distress call, you act and ask question first. |
Without using google to search for the benefits or the usual 'it taste better'; why do grown-up men, women wake up in the morning each day and decide to burn their fresh delicious agege bread before eating it? While toasting my bread this morning, this question came to my mind and the first thing that came out as a defense was 'it taste better'...but the truth is, when I first started this about 10 or more years ago, the fresh agege bread smell and taste better and over the years, my taste buds have adjusted to the toasted bread as been better. On researching on the internet, I read that it provides more energy, helps weight lost, low fat content and tastes better....but do all these reasons cross your mind each time you burn your bread or it is more of a learned behavior or status for you? |
OP, that coffin was a stock picture, right? except she lost some weight at the last moment, I do not see her fitting into that regular sized coffin. |
juman: You make me laugh a lot.you make me laugh for vernacular...Yes Iran have some firepower, some fighter jets, a standing army, etc....are you saying they are powerful enough to stand the US or Israel? Iran is just bolstering, Saddam did the same thing. He thought, if he boasted about having WMD that will scare the US away but his fate was doomed. Iran is calculating that the US will not start another war in the Middle East because of their ability to fire missiles directly into Israel, they have forgotten that Israel will accept to take some casualties in order to wipe Iran out of the map. Iran is also counting on involving the Saudis and other Arab countries. The luck they have is that a Democrat is the President of the US, had it been John McCain won the US presidency in 2008, we would been talking about re-building Iran ruins by now. Even with Obama as the President, there is a point that Iran will get to and the War hawks in Washington despite Obama's strain will start drumming for war and Iran will be worse for it. |
He had a little fight with another man, who pushed him onto the subway tracks. It appear that he was drunk and lack coordination to take himself out of the on coming danger. Another guy standing by, decided to take numerous continuous pictures of the unfolding event. When confronted later, about why he did not help....the cameraman said; he was hoping that his flashes would alert the train conductor to the danger. Well, the poor guy did not make it, was hit by the train and pinned between the train and the walls; was rushed to the hospital where he died. NYPD have started a manhunt for the guy who pushed him and with many cameras in and around the subway, it will not be long before he is caught.

My wife kicked against me getting a gun license, but I told her that; I do not want to imagine myself helpless and begging for my life or imagine someone entering and doing my kids or herself harm, while I just stood there powerless, helpless, speechless. As a man, it is in our instinct to take action...so I got me a .40 with 12 rounds. Am even thinking of getting a 9mm. Each time I go to the gun range, I see kids as young as 10 with their dad doing target practice. I wish one can easily, after thorough background checks obtain gun license in 9ja. |
Awoofawo: Do you people seriously think that america will actually admitted that one their drone was shot down by Iran...... For america to announce to the world that Iran shot down the drone will be telling on their claimed to world power/ supremacy! SMH!Bullshit Alert!!! In December 2011, when A US drone went down in Iran, the US not only acknowledged it, the President publicly asked Iran to return the drone. Do some google about it. There is nothing spectacular about shooting down a drone. Some of the drones used does not use shield technology, so anyone with the necessary high power equipment can shot down a drone. American been a superpower does not mean that, in a fight or war against even countries like Nigeria (not to talk of Iran), we cannot shoot down one or two of their drones or planes or kill some of their soldiers, it just means that, when the war is ended...America will win and Nigeria will be in ruin except their is some type of divine providence or intervention by God. |
::Andrew:::Bullshit Alert!!! Drone communications are highly encrypted with the encryption algorithm constantly changing...if you horned to even a stalled encryption, it will take you years to decrypt it and before you successfully decrypt 100 million th of the code, another algorithm have been chosen, making you to start all over again. Iran did not shot down or 'captured' any US drone, they simply fetched a drone that was lost to the sea years back and made a show of it as if it was shot down. |
What a show of shame. Look as a whole man with two mature blokus dey fight on top of property when another man like am build. |
braine: It doesn't feel right. I would have done same if I were them. Ghana need to appreciate their own first; forgetting whether they're international or not.If the figures been thrown around are correct...these guys negotiated, agreed and signed the dotted line for $5k. Psquare on the other hand negotiated, agreed and signed the dotted lines for $200k. I do not see the unfairness there....if they think they are worth more than $5k, they should up their fees and refuse to book events that will nt agree to pay their new fee. Psquare has a policy that, they will not book any event that offer less than $100k, these guys should make the same policy and see who will call them for a show. Booking an event and opting out at the last minute is the heights of unprofessionalism. |
The main reason for marriage, is to have someone that your family people can blame for all your failures, laziness, inability to send money home or be successful or rich. It also serves as a cover for all your life misfortunes and under-achievements. A bonafide excuse for failing to meet important life responsibilities, expectations or working hard. If you are not married, all your excuses for been an under-achiever or failure to meet certain obligations; will not attract too many sympathetic ears. But once you get married, they will all of a sudden look beyond you and see a 'valid' reason to blame for all the problems you have been facing and instead of focusing on making you to see reasons to get up your butt and work harder in order to meet your obligations, their focus and energy will be laser targeted on removing that 'valid' reason. Since you know that, their efforts will blow your cover, you will stand as a man to protect your family....your innocent wife not knowing your true motives will support and stand by her husband and so shall both of you be, married forever for better for worse till death do you part. |

dilbert100: looks like a pr stunt to me https://s09.flagcounter.com/mini/bL0/bg_f0f0e4/txt_f0f0e3/border_f0f0e4/flags_0/.jpghttps://s03.flagcounter.com/mini/F8d6/bg_f0f0e4/txt_f0f0e3/border_f0f0e4/flags_0/.jpgRomney visiting the White House has no PR value. It is not going to make people who does not like Obama or his policies love him, it will even infuriate lots of Obama's supporters. Also, Romney right now does not have any GOP political prowess, so him visiting the Whit House is not going to make the GOP majority in the House or the GOP minority in the Senate play ball with the White House on a number of issues that confronting the Country right now. |
I guess am confuse here because a lot of people are saying this is a positive development, will be happy if someone can explain it to me... What is the difference between 'hard labour' and 'prison labour'?...How will this change the status quo? Just like I do not see any difference between butter and margarine, I use both for exactly the same purpose and they achieve the same goal....I do not see any difference between 'hard labour' and 'prison labour' ...or is the improvement on the change in terminology from what the colonial masters use to call it? |
"How was your nite?" Is a question and not a greeting...you do not ask people questions when what you said you intend doing is greeting them! Greetings come in form of statements..eg..these are some example of greetings and questions: 1. Good morning. (How is your morning is a question not a greeting) 2. Well done. (How were able to do all these...is not a greeting) 3. Sorry (Was that painfull...is not a greeting) 4. Take heart. (How are you coping with your lost...is a question and not a greeting) 5. congratulation. (Was the finals difficult...is not a greeting) 6. get well. (Are you hale and hearty now...is not a greeting) |
If he/she is a close friend and from what I could recalled, there is no problem with the friendship. I will attend the church wedding, but will not attend the wedding reception. A lot of wedding receptions are planned according to the number of people who will attend, and chances are, if you were not invited, you might not have been included in the reception head count. You attending the church wedding is giving your friend the benefit of a doubt that the missed-invitation was not ill intended and not attending the reception will ensure that you do not end up being a gate crasher. |
If these are new charges based on new evidence, then the migistrate court will be within its rights. But it appear that, they are after-thought charges after the prosecution lost at the high court. The best course of action would have been to appeal the high court decision. Prosecution teams that rely onMonday morning quarter-back to prosecute their cases are not worth the privilege of occupying those position. |
Beautiful pictures, keep them coming. To some, saying these are pictures of selected good areas...yes we know them; most people around the world when displaying the glory of their countries sees the cup half-full. I have seen many pictures of New York on the internet, very few of them shows the beggers, homeless vets on the streets, they are many run-down neighbors with falling buildings and cardboard-up houses in New York, we do not see those on the internet. There are many neighborhoods so dangerous that, Police themselves are afraid of going into those neighborhoods, except they go in grounds and for very short-time. We do not see those pictures on the internet. Regarding comments of these pictures not been public places....again, Government acts as a catalyst for development and growth. Apart from maybe public library, some parks...there are really no government buildings in NYC. Empire State Building, despite the name is owned and managed by private owners....many parks are co-owned by government and private initiatives. |
OP, dem complain give you? They might even be more happy and contented than you.....If them like, make dem spend the first week of their honeymoon on prayer and fasting, wetin concern una?....Make you stop to dey drink Panadol for another man headache. |
So they allowed them to benefit for 10yrs, since 2002 and are now only realizing that the MOU implementation was lopsided? I think the real story or reason might not be unconnected to: either Lufthansa stopped giving the normal egunje or reduced the egunje or the people collecting the egunje have been replaced and the new replacements are dancing different tuned. The main point here is, there should be an investigation back to 2002 in order to fish out those who swept this under the carpet and what their motivations were. |
toluxa1: This is total thrash. The bolded makes no sense at all. So the US go dey fine GEJ number all about before they can talk to him? "got a number".... sounds so silly. Rubbish news.More so....Except close buddies, Presidents do not just pick the phone at will and call each other...those calls are carefully choreographed and planned by Aides to ensure no glitches before they are made. ..so for Obama or Jonathan to speak to each other on the phone, there will be multiple phone calls back and forth between Aides on both sides before the actual call is made, sometimes it takes days of preparations and back and forth. |
