Have You Ever Considered Learning Truck Driving?Experience driving a truck; better still, legitimate license evidence that you are able, is a surprisingly useful skill to have if you are someone in Nigeria right now planning to escape to Europe or America by whatever means. You will be employed quickly. Long term outlook tough isn’t bright due to companies anticipation autonomous vehicles that will cut them costs.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3Z6dOycjA8 |
infogeneral:Quantum entanglement or Einstein's 'spooky action at a distance'. It is being considered now that the human mind’s unknown quantity i.e. consciousness/soul may be entangled at the quantum world level. If so, then it could be that Nigerians and others negativity towards Nigeria is negatively affecting the world in which Nigerian athletes operate, leading to failure. |
I will not say Nigerians, just Niaralanders. Niaralanders love LIES and enjoy false narratives, no wonder media continually feed them misleading half-pictures of events. Seems as if Niaralanders like the drama that lies bring, which must mean they find evidence-based news boring. What a pity. |

ugodson:Thank you. We will improve as a Nation when we become evidence minded. Let’s be having names, interviews, follow ups, when things happen, instead of just one sided verbal and written report that something took place. Evidence exposes guilty parties - they can’t hide behind anonymity - while freeing others from being tarnished by association if not rumours. I still am none the wiser about those that supposedly fought and stabbed one another in a lift in Dubai resulting in some deaths. What are their names, where are the interviews, who are they, what happed to them after? |
Gireiboy:Highlighted is the point. When some of us draw reference to United states, we do so in suggestion that if America, supposedly the worlds top democracy and human rights poster boy, is barley better than Nigeria in instance such as police brutality, when scrutinised more closely, why do some wish to paint Nigeria as the worst country in the world, when we have not even mentioned, China, India, Mexico, Brazil, Pakistan, Columbia, South Africa, Philippines, Jamaica, France etc Many of us are not excusing Nigeria’s faults simply for criticising the way Nigeria is criticised. If train derails in Nigeria, resulting in casualties and people call for the sacking of management, investigation of contracts and quality of build, call for public enquiries, question how services responded to injured and dead, criticise maintenance, call for sacking and resignation – these would be inline with expectation. However when people start making statements such as, ‘Only in Nigeria, disintegrate this contraption; Nigeria is cussed, Nigerians are demonic, Zoogeria etc, of course some of us are forced to say, ‘Waite a minute, train accidents happen everywhere’. We would like to criticise but Instead we are forced into defending. Nigeria isn’t even a so-called developed nation but a developing one. Some type of criticism in question has dishonest dimensions since they are often extraordinarily extreme, often racists or tribalitic, suggesting that the intent is not to inspire improvements but to worsen them, for a verity of motives some of which are obvious. I guess also, there is an understandably visceral reaction to notions that certain undesirable developments general to humans and their societies are specific only to Nigeria and Nigerians. |
Artificial intelligence uncovers the building blocks of life and paves the way for a new era in science DeepMind, a company bought by Google, predicts with unprecedented precision the 3-D structure of nearly all the proteins made by the human body. Humans have been seeking the answer to a colossal challenge for half a century: identifying the basic building blocks of life, essential knowledge in the battle against terminal illnesses. Water is easy to imagine. It is simply two hydrogen atoms connected to another of oxygen: H₂O. But the protein that enriches blood, hemoglobin, carries the less memorable formula C₂₉₅₂H₄₆₆₄N₈₁₂O₈₃₂S₈Fe₄. In 1969, US biologist Cyrus Levinthal calculated that it would require more time than has passed since the formation of the universe – around 14 billion years – to untangle all the potential configurations of a single protein from its amino acid sequence, which are the links of these macromolecules. However, an artificial intelligence system created by the Google conglomerate has achieved this feat in just a few minutes. Its predictions for practically every single human protein were published last week in a giant step for biology that has removed a blindfold from human knowledge. At the vanguard of this revolution is British neuroscientist Demis Hassabis. The 44-year-old researcher was a chess child prodigy who in 1997 was left in awe of the match between Russian grandmaster Garry Kasparov and the super computer Deep Blue. The machine beat the man, but Hassabis was left with the impression that it was a cumbersome piece of junk, and useless in a game of tic-tac-toe. When the final game was over, the University of Cambridge undergraduate came up with the idea of designing a machine that could learn any game. In 2010, Hassabis founded a company called DeepMind to lead the investigative drive toward Artificial Intelligence (AI). In 2013, his first creation taught itself to play and win at various games on the legendary Atari console. In 2014, Google bought DeepMind for $650 million (around €500 million at the exchange rate of the time). After limbering up on video games, the scientists at DeepMind then set themselves the task of solving one of the greatest challenges in biology. Proteins – like hormones, enzymes and antibodies – are tiny machines that carry out the basic functions of life. They are made up of chains of smaller molecules, amino acids, much like a pearl necklace. These necklaces are folded in convoluted configurations that determine their function. Antibodies, the human body’s defense mechanism against invaders like the coronavirus, have a Y shape. The recipes of all the proteins required to function are written in the DNA of every cell. The DeepMind system, baptized AlphaFold, reads this information – a sequence of amino acids – and predicts the structure of each protein. Its precision is similar to that achieved in laboratory experiments, which require considerably more time and money. It is like guessing the structure of a quiche after seeing pie crust, eggs, pepper, salt, milk and cream for the first time. DeepMind and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) published more than 350,000 structures on July 22, including some 20,000 human proteins and those of 20 other organisms, such as a lab mouse and the tuberculosis bacteria. Venki Ramakrishnan of the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge and winner of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, says that is “an astonishing advancement” with unpredictable consequences. “It has taken place long before many experts had predicted. It is going to be exciting to see the many ways in which it is going to radically change biological investigation.” https://english.elpais.com/usa/2021-07-28/artificial-intelligence-uncovers-the-building-blocks-of-life-and-paves-the-way-for-a-new-era-in-science.html |
Wickedfact:He was an idiot and should have been arrested. |
sizzorchan:The vid is tame, there are far worst ones. Tongue in cheek here: perhaps the lesson Nigeria police need to learn from their US counterpart is act sympathetic and apologetic after committing all manner of brutality. US chief of police are forever behind podiums apologising profusely for one criminal activity or another commited by thire officers against citizens and after the vid you just posted it's beginning to look like departmental policy secretly laughed at back in the precinct. |
Some things to take into consideration in understanding how things might have gone wrong but not in defence of the authorities: I read that the athletes affected are not the ones from Nigeria but the United States based athletes. If I read correctly, it seems as if an oversight occured conserning if or who were to go ensure that the US based athletes made themselves available for the appropriate tests. It's easy to see how Nigeria officials would ignorantly assume United States would take care of ensuring the US based Nigeria athletes would be keenly watched for doping and undergo all the necessary watching and testing. You, know, something like, " ah, they are in the US where all the experts are and where everything is done correctly, those athletes will be okay and we'll catered for". |
Profayo:Nigeria is not a disgrace but the rest of what you stated is possibly the most important thing I've read on Niaraland in a long time. |
McOluOmo:Disorganised. |
MusaChukwudi:Have you heard of Specsavers? |
There’s a need to see Nigeria broadcast on international news suffering from mass starvation and begging for international food aid. This is why farmers are being targeted up north and why much of Nigeria’s armed insecurity has all the hallmarks of external powers funding and facilitating it. One mistake Nigeria made earlier on in this, and that I warned against, was permitting international Aid agencies to gain a foothold in Nigeria. Aid agencies stay afloat on the tears of African mothers. It is in their interest that wars persists and endure wherever in Africa that leadership are stupid enough to allow them set up. |
If this happened in Nigeria, the very, VERY vocal minority whose words and sentiments unfortunately set the tone for Nigeria’s perception of self would by shouting, Nigeria is cussed, Useless Country! Contraption! and ‘Break this country so everyone will find their way!’ (find their way presumably to Ghana where they’re mostly from, who knows) |
You maybe can’t impose Democracy on a nation of largely uneducated citizenry easily exploitable by the educated because of their ignorance . |

Faiththatworks:Indeed and when bandits and terrorists win, their human rights violations will be worst. Actually, why are Saudi Nationals not accorded the same human rights as Nigerians? |
In spite of all that's been said, rightly, in condemnation of our sports authorities, they do need encouraging to fight decisions made against Nigeria's interests by world governing bodies. They, Nigeria’s Sports Authorities,, should be pouring over every verdict, looking for technicalities to challenge since the outside world do not operate with the objective honesty, virtue and sportsmanship, Nigerians tend to associate with the West. For instance, the Nigeria relay team that qualified for this Olympics, by posting the relevant time, was disqualified because the country of the relay squad Nigeria dispossessed, unsportingly, sent a video to the world Athletics governing body pointing out some technicalities during the race involving the placement of cones. If Nigeria authorities keep weakly accepting international verdicts against them, international bodies will continually penalise Nigeria for contraventions other more belligerent and litigious nations would get away with. Bullying is not part of the Nigerians psyche or Nigeria society culture but it is very much a Western trait and culture. They feel no shame and are very adept at ganging up on the weak. Nigeria needs to guide against becoming a Nation bullied by the world by learning to fight back, learning to fight decisions no mater how hopeless fighting those decisions may at first seem . |
In addition to Disorganisation, Nigeria is afflicted by the black man syndrome, Short-Term-Thinking. For instance, Olympics after Olympics, Nigeria suffer avoidable failures even though after each catastrophic Olympic Nigeria promised that the NEXT Olympics would be better because they learned lessons from the failed Olympic. Now the reason why the next Olympic is never a success for Nigeria is because Olympics are held every 4 years. We don’t want to plan for tomorrow let alone far-far 4 years. We love instant gratification, instant success, instant unity; instant new nation because fixing the old nation will take too long. |
As I’ve always said, disorganisation is at the foundation of much of Nigeria’s failings. Even the article wasn’t organised enough – it didn’t provided names of affected athletes. |
"Atiku Can Unite Nigeria"He cannot. Foundationally, only general improvement in education of the masses; better grasp of world realties by same; more responsible and accountable media space and responsible opposition politicking will unite Nigerians. Currently, lies - of which fake news and reports without evidence - is doing for Nigeria's cohesion… |
siofra:What will they have to say before you conclude that people that say such things are not black or African people? ...although I’ve noticed French West Africans are particularly scathing of black women, they have deep, deep inferiority complexes verging on suspicion that they are mentally traumatised somehow by whatever it is that associating with France does to them. ![]() |
ShenTeh:What will they have to say before you conclude that someone like this is not Nigerian? |
Oppy2k2:Nigeria’s agricultural products are possible healthier than US and European ones consequently don’t look as aesthetically pleasing as the Western ones. Aesthetics plays significant role in perception of quality in the West. Ultimatly, though, the Western world uses many “Standards” as cover for protectionists’ practices against African nations and political leverage. Political leverage may also include pressuring African nations to purchase Monsanto type GM seedlings etc. Sadly the West gets away with many unfair practices in trade against Africa because Africans like those on Niaralnd tend to quickly accept what the West says without question. Nigeria masses need to learn that there are nearly always ulterior motives to what the west says and does in relation to Africa – not just Africa, actual, generally. |
Probably a fire-starter i.e. Pyromaniac... |
Speaktruth88:I’m not convinced. Ghanaians have the black peoples’ undermining mindset, which typically leads to overall failure. To this way of thinking, Nigeria’s disintegration, and the humiliating aspect to Nigeria of Nigerians flooding to Ghana and the international spectacle, casting Ghana in a leading light, far outweighs any such economic or insecurity consideration to the Ghanaian’s putrid thought process. Always thinking, small, short term, for small immediate gratifications and failing to see the bigger picture. |
Incidentally, the president of Ghana is capable of doing as suggested and I for one would be easily persuaded that he did since Ghana people have an Underminer mindset typical of much of Africa and Blackds while Nigerians generally have an Overcomers mindset. Underminer mindset underpins why the so-called black race is at the bottom of the world. |
