You and I both know that published crime stats in Nigeria is not even worth the paper its printed on. Most crimes are not even reported because there are huge disincentives to reporting a crime. It is only in Nigeria that 300 people can be kidnapped and moved through the town into the forest with zero intelligence as to their whereabouts and their abductors come out to ask for ransome. Can't happen anywhere else, not even in Afghanistan. Only in Nigeria that we all know of roads/ highways that even the governor of the state cannot travel due to insecurity. Rampant crime and massive insecurity is an open secret in Nigeria. Its one thing to have a high crime rate. Its another thing to have close to 100% unsolved crime/prosecution rate by authorities

The table represents comparative prison population across those nations listed and not crime rate. And if you’re right about the high level of crime in Nigeria, on average compared to the other nations listed, then Nigeria’s low prison population is indicative of the reason.

Nigeria is the name given to a piece of land that is indifferently going about the business of obeying nature’s laws. Nigeria is fertile, has many rivers, underground minerals, its wildlife is some of the most varied in the world. Nothing is wrong with Nigeria except, perhaps, you and others like you, infesting here surface areas. Stop blaming Nigeria for your problems and inadequacies or leave the country so that a Chinese could take your place and do a better job of appreciating the beautiful land labelled Nigeria.

Too much freedom remains one of the main causes of Nigeria's problems and still Nigerians hanker after more of it. Those in support of this individual’s complaints should please fund a nudist pressure group and storm the ministry naked. After all nudity is the inevitable evolutionary outcome of these sentiments.

Dr Adesina is right, Africa is indeed the next frontier. However, countries such as Nigeria will be last in the pecking order.

There are other African countries who have laid out the foundation and who are best poised to take advantage of this opportunity. Rwanda and Botswana come to mind. Kenya and Ethiopia are making great strides. Countries that have a high literate population coupled with decent public infrastructure (road network, air and sea port, security, power, hospitals, high speed internet) are the ones that will benefit from such opportunity.

Nigeria has a long long long way to go before it can achieve any of these and compete for the chance to grab such opportunities.

Stop lying to yourself and stop staining others with your deviant mindset.

It isn’t for the hell of it that academics in the US ones used Nigeria as the model warning the republican support base whose raison d'être was and remains the stateless society (minimal government). Nigeria is the perfect Free State.

You either agree that for all the teeth-gnashing on Niraland over supposed high crime rate in Nigeria, that Nigeria has less crime on average than Uk or the US or you agree that Nigeria does not jail enough people.

Tiny Uk has more people in jail than Nigeria. Nigeria’s criminals are walking the streets. Look to this more than poverty for your high crime rate. After the Leki Riots, prison population is even lower than the lies Nigeria probably told about her official prison population wich was probably lower than given since Nigeria lacks prison holding capacity.

It is only by the special Grace of God that Nigeria has not yet fallen into an extreme state of anarchy. A foreigner once remarked that it is amazing that you can still walk or drive around in relative safety in a country where there is extreme hunger, lack and hopelessness for a vast majority of its citizenry. Nigerians don’t lack food. Crime in Nigeria isn’t fuelled by poverty. Crime in Nigeria is fuelled by flawed policing, judiciary and absent State generally of which porous border and indifferent immigration are but two of many symptoms.

Some people foolishly exploit white racism. For instance, since us all, as Africans/Blacks, know deep down that white Western media need no evidence when dealing with black concerns, especially when it impacts negatively, some Africans exploit this. Tell Western Media that Nigeria nuked a village and they will accept and spread it world wide. The problem with this exploitation of Western Media’s need to tarnish black people - in relation to Nigeria’s opposition politics - will be that when the current opposition wins the next election, the supporters of those in power now, having become the opposition, will use same tactics. The result will be a Nigeria image trapped in an endless loop of accusations of massacres.

The pity of it is that those steeped in national political power play – political parties and fanatical support bases – know this and are unconcerned. The reason for this is that they do not care about Nigeria and you the Nigeria people, they care only for the financial gains and status trappings of political power.

I'm going to be sloppy with terms and theory for the sake of getting across the general principle.

Life expectancy is the length of time individuals on average within the society, group or race can expect to live. Survival of the species is more important. It is universally accepted that success of the species is determined by their continued existence. Are blacks in danger of becoming extinct due to, on average, lower life expectancy than whites in their comparative nations? Race is of course arbitrary but, for our purpose here, if, for instance, whites become extinct, for whatever reason, and some gibbering, tree dwelling, butt scratching, refuse eating blacks, with 20 years life expectancy on average, survive, then the black race would be deemed more successful than whites regardless of if, at their peak of excellence, whites invented food replicators, portable fission power sources and achieved 150 year life expectancies.

Since survival is the ultimate measure of spices success, contemporaries argue that numbers is also a mark of success since it is a major determinator. By this reckoning, Mongoloids are the most successful race on the planet. There is no successful black nation!

Success isn’t measured in nationhood, trinkets, buildings, or machines but in human survival.Try to resists letting your personal biases and prejudices limit your understanding of things. Culture and traditions are arguably better tools for human survival than nations.

Black people get so much wrong. One of them is record keeping. Blacks don’t keep records. I haven’t looked but I’m wiling to bet that if I make the effort I could find out the financial cost of world war one and two to Europe and America, loss and benefits to their economies. I would be able to find out the cost of the marshal plans as well as the long-term benefits to date. In comparison, I won’t be able to find the cost - to participating nations - of any war waged in Africa. I won’t be able to find out even an approximation. For instance, how much has Central African Republic lost in revenue due to conflict since independence? How much has Europe gained from the Congo conflict since independence? How much has Europe lost in revenue from the abating of wars in Africa since Mandela pronounced that Africa was turning the corner for the better?

I’ m not a statistician so I’m unable to confidently declare whether or not projections are part of recode keeping. How much for instance does the average Nigerian stand to loose in revenue in the next decade from conflict and how much does the West and other foreign stakeholders stand to gain from same conflict?

At a minimum, Records help in clarifying pictures enabling sounder assessment of a given situation. If Blacks kept all sorts of records, including those on the economics of past wars, it would help our current situation. It would facilitate a general understanding among broad spectrum of Nigerians why there are forces determined on investing the blood and future of young Nigerians in the Arms, Pharmaceutical, Aid, Construction and Financial institutions of foreign stakeholders.

Overall, Nigeria is better than abroad. Quality of life is wrongly measured. If I’m honest, I regret the time I’ve spent in the UK and Europe. Life is full in Nigeria and emptyish aboard.

My rule-of-thumb would be Nigeria is best when you’re young but the West is best when you’re old.

the issue is the guy who brought her is broke, he did not do his home work well.Before you bring a foreigner to naija, you must put some thinhs in place.Like build your own personal house with everything intact. And, indded, local artisans make great furniture some of these with wood (elaborately carved sometimes) that is superior to synthetic foreign ones. Nigerians used to regularly win international furniture competitions. A man needs to work hard to prepare for his eventual family before marrying or marry someone that is familiar with his situation and is ready to grow with him.
