RuudVanNisteroy:The article was written by a Nigerian, Ayo Adedoyin. He first wrote this in the Telegraph on the 28th of May 2020. Therefore, how valid is the article given that his Nigerian nationality or linage taints any objectivity? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/05/28/nigeria-moves-closer-becoming-failed-state/ |
Well, how valid or how objective would any of you attribute the article on learning that the author is a Nigerian by the name, Ayo Adedoyin. He appears to have authored the piece in the Telegraph on the 28th of May 2020 • 4:35pm https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/05/28/nigeria-moves-closer-becoming-failed-state/ |
craigkoel1989:Here are words of wisdom from our Nigeria traditional cultures; simple words but they helped me solve a similar character to yours in me. Nigerian Elders i knew in the village posit that majority of our anger as men are informed be self pity that are in turn derived from pride. Once you understand that this is true, you’ll go a long way towards managing your anger, if, that is, your anger is not pathological. It is basic, all basic: next time your partner has a go at you and you start feeling anger welling up, look into yourself and you’ll see that you’re thinking along the lines of self pity, for instance, ‘just look at me, taking this nonsense, a whole me, if it wasn’t because of this or that, I wouldn’t be standing here taking this- kai! Who does she think she is; talking to me like that; just because I’m understanding and a humble person; if not for, was it because; if only etc. once these sorts of self-pitying thoughts enter your mind, stop! And the anger will subside or freeze. Apart from all the above, just watch what you eat, drink plenty of water, go to bed early, take up vigorous activities, leave the house, stay off drugs. |
ostarlink:Very interesting that the same people that claim Buhari means the country no good are same ones short on suspicion that the borders are being reopened by him. Disclaimer: I’m not pro or anti Buhari, or any Nigerian leader for that matter past or present, I’m just pro Nigeria. |
Is Burna Ghanaian? |
lebuhsi:They are going to need new vehicles, lol, so Nigeria and allied armies better be forewarned ![]() |
Xbee007:Indeed, so accurate it looked form the footage as if some of the actual terrorists running off were targeted and hit not just their vehicles. If anyone had told me a day would come when I would enjoy watching people killed, I would have wrestled them down. I fear for my humanity but darn it if these Boko and Iswap guys aren’t so annoying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RESka-arLoo Bet you those guys aren’t going to upload any vid they were probably shooting in order to show the world themselves poncing up and down some Nigerian road unopposed due to imagined Nigeria military demoralisation |
Or, perhaps the hidden truth is that government bowed to international pressure over issues of growing insecurity in Sahel and Lake Chad region caused by Islamic terrorism but attributed by them (these international organisations) to climate change driving water scarcity and migration. These organisations meet regularly in Niamey Niger Republic as well as N'Djamena Chad to discuss regional integration and so on. This intergration of the Lake chad border region polices invariably favour Niger, Chad and Cameroon more than Nigeria which is capable of going it alone. The great fear is that of Nigeria gradually becoming comfortable with border closing enough to next pursue an isolationist policy when the West want a more integrated sub-region, example France backing an all West African currency pegged to theirs. |
Anyone in authority who tells you opening borders is good for Nigeria and that open borders plays little role in your insecurity issues, does not mean well for Nigerians. Perhaps open borders are good for their personal, ethnic and religious agenda but bode ill for Nigeria’s future. Such outlook flies in the face of the entire world of nations experiences. No border control, you have no future. |
Nigeria kidnapping: Mahuta children rescued after gun battle https://c.files.bbci.co.uk/6264/production/_102388152_gettyimages-182148757.jpg Police in Nigeria say they have rescued at least 84 schoolchildren who were abducted on Saturday. They say the children were seized by gunmen as they returned home to Mahuta village after taking part in a religious ceremony. The children were released following a gun battle between the abductors, security forces and local vigilantes. It is the second mass kidnapping in Nigeria's Katsina state in eight days. On Friday, 344 schoolboys who had been kidnapped from their boarding school in Kankara town a week beforehand were released. In a statement following the latest abductions, Katsina state police said that at least 80 of those abducted were students of an Islamic school called Hizburrahim Islamiyya. The force also said the armed kidnappers had also stolen 12 cows from nearby Danbaure village. Police did not reveal more about the attackers' identities or their motives, referring to them only as "bandits". It is a catch-all phrase in north-western Nigeria covering Fulani herdsmen, armed vigilante groups and even Islamist militants fleeing the insurgency in the north-east, says the BBC's Nduka Orjinmo in Lagos. Most kidnappings by "bandits" are done for ransom. In the past some leaders of bandit groups, who engage in kidnapping and attacks on farming communities, have openly met governors and other state authorities to negotiate, our reporter adds. AFP news agency quotes a leader of a local vigilante group who pursued the attackers on Saturday as saying a total of 113 people had been abducted, a higher number than the 84 announced by police. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-55366468 |
What became of the Dogon v Fulani conflict in Mali ? If Fulani herdsmen constitute a problem in Nigeria it might help, finding out how the conflict in Mali with the Dogon was resolved. Nigeria need to invest in the borders irrespective of what anyone tells you to the contrary. |
Eh, killing everywhere in America, break up this contraption called America! RIP Our prayers for the children |
Haven’t looked closely at this NIN Registration but if it’s about registering Nigerians then good, Nigerians need to be registered in any and everyway possible. Nigeria is becoming too sophisticated to continue with the current absolute freedom everyone enjoys -including enjoy exploiting. The western nations’ majority of Nigerians seem to see as heaven do not grant their citizens one-third the freedom. I’m sure these western nations know better than you, everyday |
I suppose these regular parading of Nigerians in India as criminals somehow showcases India as one of the good guy nations, absolving India of being home to some of the worst human instincts such as inhumanity, corruption and immorality, a people responsible for thousands if not millions of death annually world wide from fake medicines. In addition, possibly responsible, partially, for the ineffectiveness of antibiotics, as purveyors of adulterated ones and this could doom the entire world. |
Borders, borders, borders watch your borders. Anyone in authority up north that tells you, “oh, it’s all people around here and not outsiders” is someone that does not want you Nigerians to invest on border control. Nigeria is wealthy relative to the neighbours and with your borders open you’re all sitting ducks. The easy thing about Nigeria to your enemies is that 1 Nigerians love pointing fingers at one another. Even when a Nigerian is killed or maltreated abroad Nigerians default response is to blame it on one another along ethnic lines or blame government. So even if White Libyans flooded NE you people will be blind to it because you’re bug-eyed obsessed with scoring ethnic points or scoring political points. No 2 Nigerians tend to look at outsiders as relatives and brothers because of our pan African tendencies -stroke-how imperialists carved out nations. As long as you people insist on ignoring controlling borders you’ll be running in circles trying to snuff out the little fires. |
youghs:It’s going to stretch credulity convincing anyone that military, presidency, police – essentially those in charge on behalf of our nation on this matter – do not now know these kidnapers or their whereabouts. |
If we paid for their release there’ll be more kidnapping. Since military and police are stretched, and all schools in the north east cannot be guarded, deterrent, by doing all it takes to track down those that have kidnapped on this scale, and eliminating them, might be the key. Specialising on eliminating individuals involved in kidnapping on this scale requires secrete services, something we apparently do not have. |
As long as borders are neglected, Nigeria will not ever again enjoy tolerable security, irrespective of who rules the country. Getting to grips with immigration and policing will help. In addition, and unfortunately, enacting and enforcing more capital punishment laws. |
Nigeria is the undiscovered country: In spite of Nigeria being the most famous country in Africa, Nigeria is possibly the least explored nation on the continent, both by Nigerians and Foreigners. |
Updating9JA:In other words, that poster was right, neighbouring African nations sponsor the killing of Nigerian farmers in order to create scarcity in Nigeria and market for their goods in Nigeria. If so, then reopening the border rewards insecurity in Nigeria. Can’t find the poster but he essentially argues that the targeting of Nigerian farmers are acts of economic terrorism and sabotage. |
Why pick on trousers, god created Man naked. |
Banmeallday:Lol, remove Nigeria from Africa and Africa will be known for war in Ethiopia, Central Africa, Libya and Sudan; human rights violations in Uganda, xenophobia in South Africa; terrorism in Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, Libya, Egypt, Algeria and Mozambique. Africa will be seen as Migrants Spawner spawning migrants from Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia dying at sea. Few noteworthy things would come out of Africa. Nigeria saves Africa because Nigeria is the best thing out of black Africa. The world does not want to celebrate or acknowledge anything good from Africa, which is why no African nations is ever universally and consistently praised or discussed as being the model for emulation and instead the world concentrates on negativism. Since Nigeria is the nearest model for which Africa should aspire, the world including Africa targets Nigeria for especial criticism and hatred, which is why the sins of Africa are buried by the media in highlighting Nigeria with extreme negativism. Out of Nigeria comes push backs: Nigerians pushed back the notion of Africans as stupid; Nigerians pushed back the notions Africa lacked sophisticated indigenous culture. Nigeria did this through her ancient and sophisticated cultures and her contemporary excellence in art, literature, music and fashion. The very little dreams Africa dared to dream, beyond the drudgery of hand to mouth and basic pursuing of the prescription for human development established by whites for Africa through organisations such as the WHO and UN, comes from Nigeria. And I mean dreams such as establishing a space presence and developing nuclear power. When Nigeria dares to push other African nations gain the courage to imitate. |
Unfortunately, for too many Africans, nothing is right until whites approve. It’s like, you might say something such as, ‘let’s put down Iron roads. Iron roads will cost millions but will recoup cost in savings’, and a fellow African would, say, ‘nah, that’s ridiculous. Impossible, if that idea was any good, they would have done it abroad’. This type of African is in the majority and for this reason we'll never pioneer. Even if every home burns in Nigeria due to online instigations, Nigerians will only approve of social media regulations when white nations approve of it in their nations. Anti Human Social Progress and Cohesion Terrorists’ don’t require their own forums when Nairaland does the job nicely; Nairaland’s censorship mechanisms aren’t fit for purpose. . Sorry to say this but Nairaland does not positively benefit Nigeria, it negatively impacts Nigeria, for any good it represents is far outweighed by the negatives. This is effectively a Far-right web site. |
SilverNorGold:Unfortunately, for too many Africans nothing is right until white approve. This type of African is in the majority and for this reason we'll never be pioneers. |
obama30:Lol, someone called me self hating black man for saying, I'm no longer African but a Nigerian. But slowly, majority of you true Nigerians will understand why I have come to loath Africans. Nigerians are the only people in that continent that have the intelligence to question themselves and critcise themselves when wrong. Nigerians would never ever tolerate Nigeria government or authorities abusing or maltreating a foreign African national. Even if ordinary Nigerians could do nothing, ordinary Nigerians on social media would crucify the Nigerian government or relevant Nigeria authorities. |
SmartyPants:Really? so understanding and lenient? What about Nigerian celebs going to CNN or Algazeera to report Uganda? What about Nigerian social media screeamies going to YouTube to shout and scream about his rights being violated? Are screams and shouts only fit for abusing Nigeria? |
If you bring up your children in the West, between the ages of 1 to 13, they will be fundamentally Lilly livered and foolish. They will be deeply shallow. This is whether they end up in high paying jobs or in criminality. Let your children grow up in Nigeria during their formative years at least. If you want, and are able, then send them abroad in their teens. |
