Icon4s: "who is 2-pac"? Wait and c if another one won't ask if the Military ever ruled Nigeria.
An up-and-coming (female) singer once asked me who Foxy Brown was. I was shocked; but then quickly realized I was that old, and she (Foxy Brown) had been out of music that long.

shymmex: Bruv, Nigeria is tribalised society - once Igbos start ruling Lagos, Yoruba people are finished, period.

It will NEVER happen.
Normally it shouldn't be a big deal. But going by precedent it is a big deal.

I am not very old, but I have read about the scenarios during the 60s after Ironsi became Head of State - bush Igbo people started taunting Northerners (and this eventually directly culminated in the counter-coup and pogroms).

Also, during the war proper I read an account of when the Biafran troops overran Benin. Some residents said their Igbo neighbors started speaking Igbo to them; and when they couldn't reply they were advised to go learn Igbo.

The worst problem of the Igbo people is the unfounded arrogance and loudness of their ignorant class. They make too much trouble for the sophisticated class.

asha 80: guy wetin?
He wants you to keep quiet so that their claim that ballabriggs is Yoruba can stick.

The funny thing about the Igbo tribalist noisemakers in here is, every single exposed and sophisticated Igbo person will disown them and stick to their own societal class which cuts across ethnic groups. It's at the bottom you find the dregs.

And what is the point of doing it in Nigeria? Do you know why they are all cramming themselves into tiny spaces in SAN FRANCISCO? Ever heard of Silicon Valley? Ever heard of venture capitalists? Can you mention where you can find Nigeria's equivalent of both?

samfibby: Why do they have to make this public, now hackers would shift attention to these devices.
Nigerian sense - thinking the less number of people that know, the safer. Wrong! The hackers probably already know this vulnerability for years. Users should be aware to be able to guard against the vulnerability.

kelvinnn: What else do you expect, that is one of the setback of an open source os!!

Who are those still talking about "Lagos was developed by Federal Government"? Please leave that for another thread; but certainly before the Oil Boom of the 1970s, Lagos was already a well developed metropolis. And certainly Lagos went into disrepair during the Babangida/Abacha era only to go through a revival during the latter part of Tinubu's governorship and having to do this by being self-sustaining; generating funds even when the Federal Government stopped paying it's "monthly allocation". As I said, leave that 5hit for another thread, and in any case it has been well thrashed out previously on so many threads.

spikes C: Lets suppose the factory class has a method that registers a car as sold, u don't want an inheriting class to over-ride such method. Factory classes are mainly used to collect the most basic common methods for a class and to hide some important business methods.
A factory class cannot have a method "that registers a car as sold". That's not what a factory class is used for. A factory class is used to create an appropriate instance of a family of related classes. And that is ALL it does. There's a reason it is in a group referred to as "creational patterns".

That's the part I was wondering. And really, a person who's merely going after you to collect a loan will not bother to go into the details of his mother "selling akara on the road-side". There's too much emotion in this attack (with defamation in mind).

I just find it funny they think the era of the Babangidas and Abachas would last. It's long gone and never to return. This is the era of information where even a Secondary School kid can build an IED from browsing the Internet (not to talk of more deadly weapons). Was it not the same "Nigerian Army" that was unable to put an end to the rebellion in the creeks that the government had to beg them with "amnesty"? Were those creek boys in the Army? The "Army" should realize they are just an arm; a part of the body. If the arm tries to fight the body, it will be cut off.

It is when the "Nigerian Army" decides to start a war with the Nigerian public that they will realize the best soldiers are not in the Nigerian Army simply because they had better alternatives in life that these dumb azzes. They should remember they still have families who are also civilians.

litusista: here is the idea. I am to procure a solution (a security scheme)to help improve data transmission security over a LAN. My supervisor said there's no way i'm going to do something new if i dont propose a new algorithm. The LAN in focus here is my school network, a university network.
If you check the page and read it entirely to the end, you will see where there is a reference to SSL, TLS, etc: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA-2

The SHA-2 hash function is implemented in some widely used security applications and protocols, including TLS and SSL, PGP, SSH
Now the assumption I am making is you are trying to secure the actual data transmission over a network. That is exactly what SSL and SSH do (so yes you are reinventing the wheel). Find out how they work and you are almost there.

No, not any country. Only countries with the kind of baboons of the same species as you. Being a military officer does not make you above the law (and even the f00l in the picture saluting obviously knows this while you don't). What I know is, I can tell that the people reasoning the way you do are not from Lagos, and are not even Yoruba. You are all from various jungles where rule-of-law has no meaning and oppression is woven into your DNA. You do not know what a real society looks like. All your kind are familiar with is chaos. Programming › Re: Who Can Help With Writing An Encryption Algorithm? How Soon Can One Learn How To by logica(m):
Dude, so what do u call the process through which u produce a hash? Hmmm, I thot for a second and the only word I found was "encryption". While it's true this is one way encryption (that is what "hashing" is, but it is still encryption and falls under the study called cryptography), do you see anything in the requirements that say this does not suffice?

Have you asked the OP how she plans to use encryption? Will a hash not suffice if all she wants to use it for is storage of ENCRYPTED passwords?

Everybody on this thread have made assumptions, mine is to make the simplest assumptions while you assumed he needed decryption (since nothing like that was stated). I am sure that one day when you are experienced enough you will learn to think simple; before you go wasting time on unnecessary complexity.
Programming › Re: Who Can Help With Writing An Encryption Algorithm? How Soon Can One Learn How To by logica(m): 7:35pm On Jul 15, 2012
Is it you have to WRITE an algorithm, or you have to USE an algorithm?

If the former, check this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA-2

If latter, simply get a handle on Spring Security API and do this:

Sha512DigestUtils.shaHex(stringInput)

The utility method takes the input string
stringInput
and returns the encrypted string (digest).
