DanielTheGeek:
What more can I say, all these smart people above have said important things but let's look at it from a different angle:
NOTE:: Steve Jobs didn't write the codes for Apple, Steve Woz did, and he was the one doing the late night things while Jobs looked for opportunities and discussed business related issues.
The truth is, the Night time is very precious to a programmer, It's when you're free from distractions and can focus clearly it's when majority of the world's population would be asleep and for you to stay up every night till your project is complete will probably result to success. Nobody on Nairaland has met DanielTheGeek offline except some few developers and when each of them saw me, I was mostly not even with my laptop...left it at home/at work and that's because I do most of the hard thinking and problem solving during the day (which is why I usually have time to post on Nairaland), go ahead to sleep for about five (5) hours and then at Night around 7pm-4am I'm doing what I love doing best and I do it FAST because I already knew what I wanted to do, asked all the questions during the day-time and that works fine for me only that I've got to listen to the noise of witches in my area ;-) . Just try reducing the backlight of your pc/laptop and arrange your day, you don't need to make a high-school time-table.
You have no better option than to work at Night because you tend to be more productive and try to understand what works for you, for instance if light in your area comes around 5pm-9pm everyday in your area then know that's your work period, postpone your sleeping (don't forget to sleep, just postpone it) and once it's 11pm (Your battery should still carry you on) shut-down both your laptop and yourself. With that routine, mama can catch you in bed always and you can keep developing always too.

About your project, I was at a developer conference organized by Microsoft some while back and the speaker said, "share your ideas with someone who can make it a reality" not on a forum where people who won't even comment can scroll through and next thing is your app has launched without you, lol. Not everybody has the ability to complete a project from start to finish single-handedly, so my advice is to learn to trust and share your Idea, you shouldn't worry about who will steal it because in the process of sharing it you may land yourself investors...who knows?
Now sit-up boy and write tha motha-fu***ng code like you've never done before, when you want to give up, remember that everyone, is waiting secretly for you to lose, don't justify them.
Thanks alot!. I got much from your text.

Almost Everything has merits and disadvantages, I think the merits are greater in my case...I'll just keep missing from bed grin (sometimes... and in a stylish manner so mama wouldn't gbab me)

And about my project.. I know I'll have no options but to trust someone someday...but I'll do that when I've gone super far

hmmm (I take a deep breath as I write)

Once upon a time, many years ago when I was beginning programming, I devoted alot of time to learning inasmuch as I tried to proof the "programmer-missing-from-bed-at-night" joke wrong... but now, itve caught-up with me.

The Reason

Recently, I came up with an idea that is not just entirely unique in the web but also an idea that would change the mindset of programmers / webdevs... the internet is not just for things that exist now (forum, blog, social networks, bla bla bla, etc )

I keep thanking God for giving me such a brilliant idea (after thinking for more than a Year )

Well, Iam a rapid doer and I've gone really far already, just that stay more than 15hrs straight on the Computer.

What got my mom Angry

Though I didn't even try to explain my project to her (she doesn't think I should do anything at the detriment of my health ) ...though my elder ones will understand with me... yesterday...or early this morning (around 5am) she discovered I was still on the computer... she got "maddest" and I don't like it when she thinks I've grown so much that I will no longer listen to her sad

My state

Fear and curiosity is what I feel now. Though Iam not too scared because even someone can think of that idea... it will never be like mine, above all that person can never overtake me with the sophisticated features and current progress in development.
Secondly, Iam really curious to show the world that brand new idea... it may be like an alien visiting earth openly.

What I think

I know I may just need a co-author (who will help me when I compulsorily take a break) but I just find it difficult to trust anyone, especially as I havnt yet launched it.

Fact

— I hate getting my mom angry.
— I love programming.
— I love originality in inovations
and...
— I need your advice.

Thanks.

Your NO1 really got me tired. I discovered lately Nairaland programmers only reped OOPhp because of it's "intimidating look".

Programmers are forgetting simplicity these days. When writing some kinda projects, you'll discover OOPhp is not worth it!

- When I learn a language, I use it so well that I seldom use a framework

- I agree with NO 6

You are further butressing my point. Our forebears were mediocre shooting arrows, the white man with a better understanding of the theory of projectiles decided to make guns. Their guns made them top-notch big game killers while our forbears killed small game. You know I can kill more big game with a gun than with a bow and arrow.

And you shot yourself mentioning Cocoa. We locked the beans while those with better understanding of the theory of biochemistry made chocolates which command considerably more financial value. Their so-called

We roasted meat with fire while better knowledge of theory showed that you can harness the power of fire to do more than roast meat. You can roast a whole city of your enemies with less effort. Heck you can make fireworks that will hold people spell bound.

For crying out loud it was knowledge of theory that made us realise that we can cut wood in more efficient ways before sawdust can even be obtained. Even the knowledge that banana leaves can be used to wrap moimoi is knowledge of theory. Why didn't they use any leave like pawpaw leave or the leaves of the fruit we call "fruit" (called Indian Almond in English or Ebelebor in Warri/Benin pidgin)

My friend without theory you can go thus far, with theory you can go farther than "thus far". That's the difference between an Average programmer and a top-notch programmer. We shouldn't be satisfied with mediocrity. We should aspire for excellence.

A clear example of a top-notch software is Moodle, a widely used Virtual Learning Environment. While most Nigerian programmers will want to build from scratch a VLE, top notch developers (and lazy people like me) take moodle and use it in very diverse ways than the originator intended. I for example use Moodle to conduct a variety of Computer-Based exams that the average Nigerian programmer won't ever think of. Knowledge of theory my friend is very crucial
You Are A Smart Guy, but, wake up and stop thinking the white man woke and just started making guns! (they started also from the stone age, they shot arrows, they wore seamless gowns etc ).

Your point was that there would have been no electricity or something similar ...Not Correct !

Go to Wikipedia and read the history of planes (may look like a lengthy scribe - but endure till you finish. )
You'll discover something amazing (which would prove my point )

Scientists who never saw each other (scattered all over the world ) began to postulate theories of how an object could be made to fly (can you beat this?) ...all of them may have known about torque but called it different names.

Wikipedia would show you some pictures (you will see how entirely unique their inventions / theories were).

Theory is divided into two. The written and non-written. The primitive Africans had theories, A child in those days would not just start making arrows without learning from the father who may have said "boy, always stream-line your arrows" ) the white man stream-lined objects... maybe to reduce air friction, and the primitive African did so... maybe to have a greater penetration power!

The world is dynamic...

Needs always arise and invention is the outcome

Galilee Galileo said to himself when he was a little boy "I want to go into the moon" ...he wasn't able because Haman intelligence had not yet evolved to a greater state as at then But Lo and behold !...just because he wasn't able to enter the moon didn't mean someone never entered!

Look at this...

There was a time when a famous scientists' works were reviewed long after he died, scientists discovered he was trying to invent something that already existed in a BETTER And DIFFERENT way...this had happened many times in history.

Just dedicate a week in reading science histories... you'll discover!

'Electricity ' have solved the problem of electricity and we are so preoccupied to reinvent it!

Columbus didn't circumnavigate the plannet because he lacked resources and saw land - America. He stopped. That didn't stop Ferdinand and his crew from truly circumnavigating the plannet!

The Guy who discovered photo cells and how to store charges ('somehow electric charges') wasnt set out to discover another form of electricity ) ...those are our solar panels today...
though he continued his work (but if there was no electricity... he would have stopped there and electricity today would have been just solar! which is entirely different from this ancient electricity ...it doesn't even depends on it. )

Solar(reuseable ) energy is another "electricity" which does not depend on "electricity" AND can do what "electricity" can do and can do what "electricity" can't do which makes it better than "electricity". (oboy? abi yhu Don forget? grin ).

I laugh when people hypothesise. Something better? Like? The fact remains those guys built the theory on which electricity is based on. My point really is that without the theory there won't be any practice. If there is no computer science theory there is no programming. If you don't know how the theory works, you can never be a top notch programmer. This is the point
You make me laugh.. really.
look, the fact that mama Jenifer at lagos uses manufactured leather to package her moimoi does not mean mama Ene somewhere at Ipole-owukpa cannot use banana leaves (of which gives the okpa / moimoi a more yummy taste ).

I bet you don't know saw dust can be used to cook in a stylish tin (a way more efficient than kerosene... no whiteman gave any "theory" for that... tws hard necessity of a naija person who never learnt physics ) .

white men never thought us how to make fire... though our ancestors ate roasted meat!.

The cocoa we planted before the arrival of the white men was natural and healthy (they stole some and brought bournvita... brought bqck some genetically modified (dangerous ) species... brought back theories of 'best ways to plant cocoa ' - WTF... did they give us those useless theories before they stole our naturally cultivated cocoa? ...(before I forget my last bracket - for a proper nesting , let me add it ))

We had cotton, we used cotton to spin yerns to simple clothing - no theories.

we were intelligent enough to make and shoot arrows without knowledge of projectiles... we killed animals without angle of projection.

When I was in the U.S, I usually got some old folks drunk and saw how some...

(I Don vex. I'll charge my battery and come back ) OP - Iam sorry sha

U fail to get the point! Without Einstein or Newton there would be no electrician! There would be no electricity in the first place. You cannot be a top notch programmer if you do not know the theory if computer science. Average programmes yes but never top-notch. If you doubt it let me drop one question for you here that will leave you in twist for days
Oboy, you should be more intelligent than this na... na war for you oo.

…yes, there MAY be no electricity...there would have been something better! (so sad students go to school improving on those ancient stuffs... not many realize they could invent a primary thing any longer ).

Look, before the white men came to spoil us with their technology... we had ours. We had things they actually stole the idea... if the white man hadn't brought an airplane.... one day, an African would have made something that's not an airplane... but flies like one (and used it to discover those white men ).
Sincere white men said if they had left us. our innovations would have been unbeatable.
Oneday, if you're oppotuned to see an alien plannet with intellectual / intelligent beings like us. you would be amazed.

1. There would be no 'electricity ' because there was no... ...some kind of crazy intelligent scientists
2. There would be no 'what we call car... maybe something better or worse.
3. ...

Haba Bros, when you write OOP code... you can reuse it, do more with less code. e.g creating a class that needs some properties where it is already somewhere, you just INHERIT the parent class, OOP code is also modular than pp. polymorphism where you treat objects in several forms, etc. this are my reason for saying that.
Seems asiv you just learn with PDFs. without putting into real-world practice... most times, your program WILL never need inheritance. (na your type dey buy Ferrari (for example) go farm... just because it's trending )

ProgrammingRe: MySql: Is It Advisable To Create Users In This Way Using Mysql? by logicalhumour(op): 8:18am On Sep 17, 2016
foldl:
@logicalhumour I suspect you're trolling but I'll answer your question in the off chance that you're not.

That is how you create a user in mysql but not quite in the same sense as creating a user account for users on your site. Creating a user in this manner is similar to creating a Windows user (I.e. the type you use to login to your laptop after booting) for every user of your site. So, in reality you only need just one (or a couple for things like replication, backup etc) such mysql user.

Your website will then use this one mysql user to connect to the mysql server. In addition to having this mysql user you must create a database in mysql and explicitly grant access to that database to this user. Within this database you also must create a table in which the actual login credentials of users of your site will be stored.

To recap, use the mysql user account to connect to a specific database on your mysql server. When connected create a record in a table with username and password for your site's user.

PS: For one who claims to have 'years as a programmer' and given your username it is hard to believe that you're not just trolling with this question. However, am glad to be punked.
Lol... Thanks... but how on earth do you think its real
