Going by our story, and not meaning to make any declarations about you, but it seems you were never really a christian. You merely practiced a religion you were born into - this is quite different from reaching an age of accountability and then making a purposed and conscious decision to walk a certain path.

I was a christian. I believed in Jesus. I mean, there is nothing as a christian that you are doing that I have not done. Is there any difference between you and me (in the past) when it comes to christianity?


As for importing of religion; Why would an omnipotent God appear to only people in the middle east/North Africa and ignore West Africa for 6over 4,000 years and then come to West Africa with slavery?

A christian is someone who believes that Jesus is God; a follower of christ.

I was a catholic but have always been a bit secular. I grew up watching MTV and Cartoons. I also made fun of protestant churches with their fake miracles and speaking in tongues.

When I moved to the UK, I became more secular. I found it a waste of time to go to church during winter. Freezing my azz off to go to church on sunday when I can watch premiership football.


However I was still a christian then. As someone that likes to get facts and argue, I started reading about the major wars and civilization. I read about slavery, Roman empire, medieval Britain etc.

The fateful day came when I was racially abused by an atheist white man, who said that "blacks are stupid because they are accept a religion that enslaved their people and they still like the image of a white Jesus; It is a curse to be black". Normally, as a London black boy, there are two ways of dealing with racists; beating sense into the racist or logically exposing the fallacious argument supporting racism. However, I was rooted to the spot. The part about slavery was right. The racist was mostly wrong but there was an element of truth. We had statues of a white Jesus in the 3 biggest catholic churches in Lagos.


I went home and started reading on "christianity and slavery".....that was the beginning of my alter-ego; logicboy. Logic became my Master.

Christianity is a foriegn religion to Nigeria and is no less of a fairytale than Shango or Ogun or thor.

My muslim girlfriend always tells me that Islam will make my life better but she doesnt explain much because she is scared of arguing with me because she isnt good at debating and she is afraid that I will convert her to atheism.

So, naturally, I went to the muslim section to ask how islam can improve my already happy life. I didnt get much answers from there.


I see no reason for asking the same question to christians since I was a christian before. However, people on Nairaland are now telling me that I wasnt a REAL christian.

So, how does christianity make my life better? [/size]

Benefits of my atheist life;
- I dont have to go to a church or mosque and I have free time
- I can eat any food I want, halal or not
- I can mix with my Eastern European friends who drink a lot (I usually dont drink but I drink during social occasions)
- I was a christian for 22 years, and I was not a very happy person as I used to think God was punishing me anytime something bad happened to me but now I feel free
- No fear of hellfire.

I am more mature than you because i see life for what it really is. I have seen soldiers kill without mercy and go free without justice. There is no God. You can always come to my house in Nigeria and face my gun.

Halal is not the healthier way. If it were so, nutritionists/biologists would have advocated for it. People who eat halal still get stomach and heart cancer.

You did not answer my point. What benefits do I get from being a muslim? I can not count halal as a benefit as my girlfriend has to shop an extra hour looking for halal products while I can buy meat from any supermarket.

This is a honest question because my girlfriend keeps saying that Islam will improve my life but she is always scared of expalining why because she is not good at debating and she's afraid that I might convert her if we argue. Money is almost everything in this life. If you are so strong about God, we can meet at my house in Nigeria. I will get a gun from my military guards and shoot you in front of any witness of your choice and I will not go to prison because of how rich people are treated in Nigeria.

also whether or not people eat pork or not,it still doesn't make pork very healthy for human consumption or the best choice of meat.the problems with pork are known.people smoke and may still live long,but smoking isn't healthy.and also the animal the pig is does not make eating it appealing or healthy.

If you are Nigerian, you must know of palm wine. My and many other Nigerian people's forefathers drank palm wine and we know that people in the village lived up to over a 100 years. My grandparents eat non-halal meat everyday of their lives and lived long. They also were pagans. Palm wine was a normal occurrence.

Pork is a common dish in Chinese and Japanese cuisines. SARS has nothing to do with halal or haraam.

No, the christianity was the failure. I come from a wealthy background and I have few problems in life. I can afford to be on the NL all day because I am not chasing money.

Time is never a factor in eternity. If that was the case, man would have come up with the age of GOD. It is because of the absence of time in eternity that is why GOD does not have a beginning. But here on earth where there is time and space, HE becomes the Alpha and the Omega...meaning it started with HIM and will end with HIM.
