Yes there are similarity between Islam and Christianity, buts thats just because they both came from the same source- Allah, and there are also fundamental differences between the two 'religions' but this is because the latter had influences of roman, babylonian and contemporarily western influences. Islam has been and is always pure (for reasons I can't include here for scope and concision sake). According to the Quran Islam was the religion, Adam, Noah, Abraham, Enoch, Ishmael, isiah, Moses, David, Solomon, Mary, and Jesus (PBUT). This is also true for Aryan religions like Hinduism and it's derivatives. All of the above mentioned had to believe in one, and only one God, but the religious rituals varied according to time and geography.
The Quran after mentioning stories of some biblical messengers and other non biblical messengers in the chapter called 'prophets', beautifully concluded thus: "Surely this Islam is your religion, one religion (only), and I am your Lord, therefore serve Me"(21:92). (simple and unequivocal).(u can also refer to videos by Dr zakir naik on YouTube on concept of god in Hinduism, budhism, zorastrianism etc and you will see evidence of how all these great creeds started as monotheistic faiths but were latter derailed by generations later)

Now with this background set, I will try to address some of the concerns mr Sam raised (about Christianity!)

One of the innate seed of intellectual self destruction which Christianity sowed in itself (note this was not from god evidently from the bible itself) was the concept of trinity, divinity of Jesus and the original sin. On his talk on the bible glorifying slavery, I would say in the case of Islam that is not the case. Islam arrived at a time when slavery was the norm by Arabs, Romans, Persians etc. Hence it had to put in practical steps to solve the slavery issue. So Islam tied freeing of slaves to core components of the religion like divorce laws, fasting laws, expiation ' unintentional' perjury. What all these means is that for delinquencies in divorce, fasting, oaths etc one of the way for expiation was freeing a slave(you can refer to any index of a quranic translation and lookup verses that speed about freeing slaves). All these are in addition to countless ahadith that sleek about virtues of freeing slave.
So all in all Islam provided a concrete action oriented way of solving the scourge of slavery (not just by words).

Suicide in Islam is clear. It is forbidden. So suicide bombers are also not Islam. To save space and time rather than provide verses that forbids suicide, I will ask you, if you can to provide any verse that allows suicide

Finally he spoke about faith and evidence and how chistianity does a bad job in providing evidence for faith. One of the beauty of Islam is that it encourages evidence and research and further research. Thus you see the Quran filled with words and sentences like 'will they not think' 'will they not ponder' 'do they not see' 'will they not reason' etc. Also I believe the op video addresses this better. Now to the point of slavery. Slavery is never condemned. The Koran and Mohammed (Pbuh) say that it is good to free slaves. He never mentions that it is bad to own slaves. Also, the question of sex with female slaves is really questionable in islam.



I hope you know that there are people that died not even knowing what a Koran is. My granny died some years back. She couldnt speak english and she didnt even know who Jesus was or anything about the Koran. When I was using my aunt to help me translate a discussion with her, my granny said that she heard of Jesus and she is wondering what this guy has to do with her and her grandchildren. She lived her simple farming life without Jesus, God or Mohammed.

It seems that religion requires you to ignore certain truths about the world. I met an indian who did not even know who Jesus/mohammed were because she lived in a hindu village.
