FFK, what you may not know is that the more you open your mouth throughout this campaign, the more you would remind decent Nigerians how CLUELESS and INCOMPETENT GEJ is, for failing to realize that a notoriously shameless, corrupt and MORALLY BANKRUPT political prostitute like you would NEVER add any REAL VALUE to anybody's campaign. |
barcanista:Barcanista, how come you missed the message of my post, and the crossed phrase ' |
barcanista:I do not agree with you on the part in bold. I mean, instead of seeing Marylyn Ogar and her fellow compromised and partisan SSS colleagues as daft or clueless, I see them as being very clever |
ujoinme:And when GEJ starts his campaign in NE states, the people of the BH-ravaged region, Muslims and Christians, would only be asking him QUESTIONS and demanding answers from him. Among the questions that would surely be on their lips are: 1. Mr President, WHERE have you been all these MANY YEARS when our fathers and mothers are being killed, our daughters and sons are being kidnapped, our houses, schools, markets and places of worship are being completely destroyed, and we are being made homeless IN OUR COUNTRY? 2. Your supporters often tell Nigerians that you brought 'good luck' to the country, but as a good Christian can you honestly describe OUR PLIGHTS in the past six years as anything, even remotely, resembling 'good luck'? 3. WHRE ARE OUR CHIBOK GIRLS? When are you going to rescue them? Why were you, your wife and MANY officials of your government more concerned with the IMAGE of your government at the time of the kidnapping, instead of swiftly mobilizing all the FG resources and personnel at your disposal to rescue our girls FIRST, and then LATER deal with any possible conspiracies you and some of your supporters think that there might be? 4. If, for WHATEVER REASON(S), you could NOT extinguish the BH fire that started as a very small problem; if UNDER YOUR WATCH the same problem GREW to be such a big monster that brought so much deaths and destruction to OUR region in the past six years, WHY do you think WE should trust OUR destiny and that of our next generations in YOUR hands for another four years? |
Mogidi:The two law-makers from Kano you mentioned (Sen. Gaya and Hon. Jibril) wanted both Buhari and Atiku to withdraw for their mentor (Kwankwaso) BEFORE the APC presidential primary election. But after the people's general cruised so easily to victory at the primary election, his campaign has gathered so much momentum, and the change train has moved so fast and so far, that Sen. Kabiru is now one of Buhari's leading campaign directors in NW. |
rozayx5:I know you didn't mean to, but you unfortunately portrayed your dad in a bad light here, i.e. as someone who has been feeding his children with A LOT of ethnic/religious bigotry and hatred, apparently repeatedly. And the fact that you only believe your dad "now" about Buhari's 'illiteracy' means that even you yourself had NOT all along been buying all of the bigotry your dad had been trying to sell to you for all those years, until just now. This is why we should always be VERY CAREFUL when bringing in our parents into a public discussion like this; we should ONLY mention them when we want the world to know how responsible and caring parents they are/were, and how much they have shaped and influenced our lives FOR THE BETTER. |
Keneking:I think it would be really difficult for him to get even up to 15% in many of the NE states. And as he plans to start campaigning for re-election in the NE states in the next couple of days, the clueless has to get his answers ready for all the QUESTIONS that he would be asked by the mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, relatives and friends of the THOUSANDS of people, Christians and Muslims, who have been mercilessly butchered by the evil-minded and satanic BH savages. As the people of the NS see him and his campaign train cruising to the BH-ravaged region enjoying highest security, these following are surely some of the QUESTIONS that would be on the lips of almost every single person in the region (whether Christian or Muslim): 1. Why you, your wife and MANY officials of your government who come from the SS/SE were more concerned with the IMAGE of your government at the time of the kidnapping, instead of you showing LEADERSHIP by SWIFTLY and DECISIVELY mobilizing all the FG resources and personnel at your disposal TO RESCUE OUR GIRLS FIRST, and then LATER deal with any possible conspiracies you and your SS/SE supporters think that there might be? Although the NE people would hardly be given a chance to ask the president the above questions publicly, I have no doubt in my minds these are some of the questions they wish the president would personally answer for them, as he and his campaign entourage venture into the BH-ravaged NE region. |
YEMOYEMI:You are absolutely right! Okupe, Abati, Labran Maku and MANY of GEJ's advisers would be remembered as the WORST set of presidential spokespersons we have ever seen in Nigerian history. We have never seen a set of presidential image-makers who have SO MUCH resources at their disposal yet they achieved SO LITTLE in terms of actually boosting the image of their principal. Because of their crass ignorance of the basic principles and practice of PROFESSIONAL PR, they think PR is all about negativity and proving how fierce an attack dog you can be!. That is why they spend MOST of their time, energy and the huge resources at their disposal on REPULSIVE, DIRTY, HATEFUL, DIVISIVE, CRUDE, CHILD-LIKE, PROVOCATIVE and mostly unwarranted PERSONAL attacks on decent and respected members of the society who happen to be in the opposition parties. But to be fair to them, it would naturally be VERY DIFFICULT for anyone to successfully launder the image of a clueless, weak, incompetent, non-achieving and BLUNDER-PRONE president like GEJ; and it would be even more difficult when you try to convince the electorate to re-elect him for another term, in the face of his glaring failure. So it is a case of double jeopardy, where a clueless and weak president is surrounded by a bunch of unprofessional PR team who, in the absence of tangible achievements by their principal, resort to the ONLY option available to them, and that is, looking for even the most trivial issue they can find from the opposition camp and use it to launch personal attacks on the opposition leaders. Fortunately for us, the game is almost OVER for them and their clueless principal. And what a good riddance it would be!. |
I have NEVER been interested in the kind of ethnic 'warfare' going on NL, but if I must comment on this thread, my observations would be as follows: 1. To be fair to GEJ, he may not necessarily be personally responsible for these lopsided strategic appointments that clearly favoured the SE region, though that would not be a good excuse for him; I believe a shrewd person like NOI, with her intimidating CV, can easily take advantage of the weakness and cluelessness of a 2. But if the truth must be told, this kind of barefaced nepotism has been going on in this country right from the time we started to govern our affairs as an independent country. And each of the 3 major ethnic groups (Hausas, Yorubas and Igbos) are GUILTY of it; and of recent, the Ijaws seem to have joined them as well, with their newly found political power. 3. Because of my profound contempt for the thieving Nigerian elite, I hardly EVER care where they come from, what is their tribe, religion or region; as long as they are corrupt, they deserve nothing from us except contempt and condemnation, simply because of the way their heartless looting is destroying our country and condemning millions of ordinary people into a life of misery and hardship. 4. However, as the Nigerian masses begin to WAKE UP and fight to take back their country from the corrupt and greedy elite, through the power of vote, we hope this kind of flagrant nepotism would one day be a thing of the past. |
He must have been encouraged and emboldened by the looming electoral defeat that will soon make PEJ a FORMER first lady, and ultimately send her to oblivion, like Turai and others before her. |
He must have been encouraged and emboldened by the looming crushing electoral defeat that will soon make PEJ a FORMER first lady, and ultimately send her to oblivion, like Turai and the rest. |
berem:Absolutely. And for Eziachi, it is NOT even about Buhari but its about the TRUTH. For years now, you would often see him popping up from nowhere trying robustly to put the records right on an issue under discussion. He would not mind appearing to be on the side of 'the others' and, thus, incurring the wrath of the tribal bigots among his kinsmen; all he cares for is to contribute towards letting the younger generation know the truth about a particular historical event. The guy has EARNED my respect many years ago. |
kristisking:I agree with your point here, even though I am not a GEJ supporter. That is, there is NO reason why GEJ's posters should not be pasted freely in the north, or ANY part of the country for that matter. For once, he is as FREE to contest this election as Buhari or anybody and, more importantly, he is still the president of the country. Having said that, however, I also understand the RAW emotions in the north, as many Northerners (Christians and Muslims) believe that GEJ and his government have NOT been doing enough to protect them against the daily onslaughts of the merciless BH terrorists. Worse still, MANY of them even accuse the government, or some elements within it, of aiding and abetting the killings in the north. I believe all this would NOT have even arisen if GEJ had shown, and was clearly seen to have shown, more commitment towards curtailing the BH insurgency right from the beginning. |
theV0ice:With regard to the part in bold, it is even worse than that; his security personnel were unleashed several times on decent prominent Nigerian men and women who are genuinely concerned and outraged at the horror of having over 200 innocent girls being kidnapped and the government not showing enough concern, talk less of commitment towards their rescue. Now the day of reckoning has come, and we the people would use our democratic right of vote to show our anger at the way things have been going in this country over the past six years |
LRNZH:This quoted remark by the Bayelsan analyst is exactly the reason why the ORDINARY PEOPLE would be the GREATEST beneficiaries of the wind of change that is currently blowing so powerfully across THE ENTIRE country. By sacking the corrupt and inept PDP government in the forthcoming election through SHEER POWER OF THE VOTE, the ordinary Nigerian voters would be sending a very strong WARNING to the ruling elite that POWER has now been TAKEN AWAY from the powerful cliques of godfathers and power-brokers and FINALLY returned to THE PEOPLE, the rightful owners. Thus, from now on, there will be NO MORE complacency, arrogance and impunity by ANY party or candidate; whoever is elected by the people to a position of leadership MUST work for the general interests of THE PEOPLE, and be clearly SEEN to be doing so, otherwise he or she would be voted out by the people. No more second chance for a glaring failure, as we cannot afford to keep moving backward or remaining stagnant while the rest of the world is developing so rapidly before our very eyes! |
berem:Ameen! Eziachi has always been such a wonderful fellow, so full of wisdom and intellect and, above all, thoroughly detribalized. In fact he is a good example of how we can all be well above ethnic and religious prejudices as a result of knowledge, experience and maturity. And this piece by him is so, so impressive!. |
As a Nigerian, and the current president of the country, GEJ has every right to campaign FREELY and SAFELY in any part of the country, at any time. But he has to get his answers ready for all the questions that he would be asked by the mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, relatives and friends of the THOUSANDS of people, Christians and Muslims, who have been mercilessly butchered by the evil-minded and satanic BH savages. As they see him and his campaign train cruising to their ravaged region, enjoying highest security, these are some of the QUESTIONS that would surely be on the lips of almost every single person in the region (whether Christian or Muslim): 1. shaqhead:? lol |
OP, if you are old and enlightened enough to know the regimes of Buhari and IBB, you would have known that the former was motivated by strong patriotism and passionate drive to root out corruption and establish an egalitarian, pro-people society, while the latter was motivated by sheer personal greed, insatiable lust for power as a means of perpetuating corruption, and an unpatriotic subservience to foreign capitalist interests. Because Nigerians know fully well the differences between the two former military leaders, Buhari can today contest election under ANY political party get MILLIONS of votes. On the other hand, IBB CANNOT even dare to present himself to Nigerians today in any election, simply because he knows he would be badly humiliated, as the vast majority of Nigerians, including his fellow Northerners, see him as EVIL PERSONIFIED and, as such, would not touch him even with a long pole! |
1. Yet another confirmation that GEJ's re-election DREAM is rapidly EVAPORATING into thin, and things are taking new turns for the WORST for PDP as a party. Imagine a party that is based in the region GEJ himself called the 'pillar of his support' now coming out so openly to campaign against him in this manner. Compare this with the excited, whole-hearted and unalloyed support and genuine feeling of regional and brotherly solidarity the leaders of this same APGA showed for candidacy of GEJ in 2011. 2. Only yesterday, the pan-Igbo cultural organization, Ohaneze, came out equally openly to say that it could not declare its support for GEJ, explaining that it does not favour any particular candidate. Try to compare this with the near unanimous support GEJ got from all the prominent Igbo leaders in 2011. 3. Another clear sign that GEJ's re-election dream is hitting the rocks emerged from Kaduna a few days a go, when his re-election campaign vehicles that were meant to be driven to Kano got stuck in Kaduna for days, because no northern driver wanted to have anything to do with them. Compare this with 2011, when Kwankwaso, late Yakuwa, Sule Lamido, Wamako, Nyako and other northern governors each provided hundreds of vehicles, drivers and active campaigners for the election of the clueless, who turns out to be such a big disappointment for all. 4. There is also the New Year message of Rev Father Mbaka of Enugu; if there are some DUMB supporters of GEJ who still think the people of SE would vote for GEJ as overwhelmingly as they did in the 2011, then such dumb people should just watch the Enugu priest's video, listen to his clear and poignant message and, more importantly, see the cheering of the crowd. Again, compare and contrast that atmosphere in a key SE state with what it was in 2011. 5. As the APGA spokesperson rightly and candidly told GEJ, and anybody who cares to listen, PDP is doomed in the north (and I will add SW), but hungry northern (and SW) politicians would continue to deceive him with a false picture to the contrary, as they scramble for their personal share from those billions set aside for his re-election gamble. |

A7:. And don't you see that this kind of ethnic and religious killings provide some of the best hopes for the supporters of the clueless, as the more tension is created between Muslims and Christians the more they expect to get Christian votes from the region for pure sentiments? |
Empero1:This is a very sensible and informed comment that is clearly motivated by a genuine concern for one's people. To the non-Igbos, people like Rochas Okorocha, joe igbokwe, Abagworo (Nairaland), GeneralBuhari (Nairaland) and Berem (Nairaland) are some of the MANY Igbo men and women who are doing an excellent job in the kind of bridge-building you are talking about. Although some narrow-minded ethnic jingoists among their fellow Igbos always castigate them, I can assure these Igbo bridge-builders that their efforts are being fully appreciated by non-Igbos, and I am sure they (or some others of their kinsmen) would one day reap the rewards of their excellent job of reaching out to other Nigerians, with so much open mind. |
bossmini84:I am sorry to say it, but only a very naive and uninformed person would think we can so easily 'forget culture' when discussing social issues of ANY society. This is simply because there has never been, and will never be a society of human beings, whether modern or primitive, that has forgotten culture. For instance, which country do you think is the most modern, most developed and most advanced in our present time? Go and pick and read its constitution, study its politics, religion and even their businesses you will see THEIR CULTURE written ALL OVER these spheres of their individual and national life. |
blackjack21:I think this your poser is at the very basis of the huge cultural gulf existing between the Muslims in NW and NE on the one hand, and the rest of Nigeria (including the Muslims of SW) on the other, regarding this issue of early marriage. For instance, if you set the following dual choice question to Nigerians, giving them options (a) and (b) as possible answers, you would see how this cultural divide would manifest itself so clearly in their answers: QUESTION: You have a 15 yrs old daughter/sister who has recently been found to be going after boys/men (fornicating), which one of the following do you think is a BETTER CORRECTIVE MEASURE that would be more acceptable to YOU, your FAMILY members and your local COMMUNITY at large? (a). Taking necessary steps by the family to ensure that she stops that bad habit, but those steps will NOT include even the remotest idea of marrying her out BEFORE the age of 18, nor will it EVER include marrying her out to a man older than her by 30 years or more. (b). Taking necessary steps by the family to marry her out as soon as possible, even if it means next month (when she would STILL be 15) in order to stop her from bringing more shame and dishonour to the family, and in the absence of a suitable young prospective husband, the family would not mind marrying her out to a suitable man who is older than her by 30 years or even more. I believe over 90% of southerners (including Muslims) and northern Christians would choose (a), while over 90% of Muslims in NW and NE (and indeed in most Muslim countries) would choose (b). And I think this cultural gulf is so huge that it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to imagine it ever being bridged. For example, NO AMOUNT of cultural insults, arguments, persuasion, etc, can change the mind of an average person in the south/Christian north to even contemplate marrying out his daughter at the age of 14-17, just as NO AMOUNT of cultural insults, arguments, persuasion, etc, can stop an average northern Muslim from marrying out his daughter at those ages IF he fears, rightly or wrongly, that she has started/would start to go after boys/men at any of those ages. |
I am really disappointed, in fact saddened, by the way some people turned this very touching and doubly tragic story of this young woman into a tribal bashing. If you must go tribal, you guys should always try NOT to pick a story of human tragedy as touching as this one; there are so many political and entertainment stories for you to choose from and convert to tribal battlefields as much as you like. |
What this young woman did is evil and heartless. And all the excuses she gave are flimsy. However, from her astonishing lack remorse, it seems she might still be suffering from post-natal depression, which might have been aggravated by acute poverty, lack of social support at the time she badly needed it and a feeling of betrayal by the selfish and wicked Monday who apparently took advantage of her poverty or naivety to impregnate her and then shamelessly abandon her. So inasmuch as I condemn her evil act, I cannot help feeling some kind of sympathy for her, because she is clearly a victim of some cruel circumstances. |
1. The way PDP and the GEJ campaign allow their illiterate goons to continue on their delusion that they have found 'a smoking gun' with this ABSURD allegation regarding Buhari's academic qualification only shows the extent of their desperation and lack of any tangible achievements to campaign on. 2. If the GEJ campaign managers are not so clueless, they would have known that this HARE-BRAINED tactic would only give them a SHORT-LIVED moment of excitement before it EVENTUALLY BACKFIRE big time on the clueless, and finally nail the coffin of his dying dream for re-election. 3. We all know that from the logical point of view, there are two mutually exclusive scenarios regarding this issue; (a) either Buhari actually possesses the qualifications he claims to have possessed or (b) he does not possess them yet he made a false claim in a sworn affidavit to the effect that he possesses them. 4. And even a layman would know how the ELECTORAL LAW would apply in each scenario; if (a) is the case, INEC MUST allow him to contest (provided he satisfies all other conditions), but if (b) is the case INEC WILL disqualify him. 5. Although each of the two scenarios is logically possible, MOST people with COMMONSENSE would tend to believe that (a) is the case, for a number of reasons: !. it is VERY UNLIKELY that a former army general and head of state would make a false claim about his academic qualification for whatever reason(s). !!. it is even more UNLIKELY that he would do so in a situation as important and politically sensitive as filing a nomination to contest an election with an incumbent president, who controls the entire FG machinery. !!!. and given the fact that GMB has earned for himself a reputation as a public servant of RARE honesty and integrity, he would be the least expected person to engage in falsifying his academic qualifications or any of his records. v!. since everybody, including the general himself, knows that he is so widely admired and respected by Nigerians NOT because of his academic attainment but because of his personal honesty and integrity, he does NOT need to embellish his academic qualification for Nigerians to elect him. 6. So as the PDP goons permeate the social media with the stink of their dirty and rancid campaign of character assassination against GMB, they should be ready to swim in their tears of defeat and sweat of embarrassment if, as people with commonsense expect, it turns out eventually that the people's general has NOT made any false claim regarding his academic qualification. 7. When the general is eventually VINDICATED by INEC, then the clueless and his campaign managers, who seem to be encouraging and relishing this cheap and senseless mischief against GMB, would see how it would all END IN FAVOUR of the general; many decent Nigerians who are undecided voters would simply feel outraged by this morally reprehensible mischief against the amiable general and simply swing to supporting him and voting for him. 8. It would then become even clearer to Nigerians that the clueless and incompetent president has NO concrete achievements to show for all the six years he has been in office, hence his goons have to resort to blatant lies, deceits, mischief, blackmail and all sorts of character assassination against the general. 9. But unfortunately for them, all these shameless tactics are CLEARLY NOT working, as the wind of change keeps blowing, and the electoral defeat of the clueless increasingly looks a foregone conclusion. |
waternogeteneny:1. The non-committal position of Ohaneze towards the re-election of GEJ is yet another confirmation that things have really changed for the WORST for PDP and GEJ. Compare this stance of Ohaneze and the UNANIMOUS support GEJ got from almost all the leaders and people of the SE region in 2011. 2. Another clear sign that GEJ's re-election dream is hitting the rocks emerged from Kaduna a few days a go, when his re-election campaign vehicles were left in Kaduna for days because no northern driver wanted to have anything to do with them; compare and contrast this with 2011, when Kwankwaso, late Yakuwa, Sule Lamido, Wamako, Nyako and other northern governors each provided hundreds of vehicles, drivers and active campaigners for the election of the clueless, who turns out to be such a big disappointment for all. 3. Again, compare and contrast that atmosphere in a key SE state with what it was in 2011. |
1. Most of these people are intelligent and wise enough to know how EXTREMELY DIFFICULT, if not impossible, it would be for them to convince Nigerian voters to re-elect a president who has spent his first term without having anything to show for it. 2. And if at all they dare campaign in the NE/MB, they have to tell the relatives of all those who were killed, maimed or displaced WHY they should re-elect a president who shows an amazing lack of concern and commitment to the security of their lives and property? 3. If it had not been clear enough to some members of the GEJ team before this time, that things have really changed for the WORST for PDP and GEJ's re-election ambition, I am sure TWO recent events must have convinced everyone of them that their principal is going to be SWEPT ASIDE by the same powerful wind of change that brought him into power in 2011. 4. The first is the report that some GEJ campaign vehicles were left in Kaduna for days because no northern driver wanted to have anything to do with them; compare and contrast this with 2011, when Kwankwaso, late Yakuwa, Sule Lamido, Wamako, Nyako and other northern governors each provided hundreds of vehicles, drivers and active campaigners for the election of the clueless, who turns out to be such a big disappointment for all. 5. The second is the new year message of Rev Father Mbaka of Enugu; if anybody was too dumb to understand the significant changes in the dynamics of our politics we have been talking about, then that person should just watch the Enugu priest's video, listen to the clear and poignant message and, more importantly, the cheering of the crowd. Again, compare and contrast that atmosphere in a key SE state with what it was in 2011. |
