PoliticsRe: Jonathan Has Nothing To Do With Rivers Crisis - Okupe by Lordlexy: 11:47am On Jul 11, 2013
thelastPope: I love Okupe to the bone! grin grin grin Hear him...

and again...

Exactly what their campaign is on NL! They have never been about positive and progressive debate. They only do the following:

1. Open threads to praise Fashola and ACN

2. Insult everyone and anyone who contributes a different opinion on those threads

3. Praise all south west ACN governors even when real evidence shows most of them are epic failures. In doing this, they select isolated projects with costs that are infinitesimal compared to their state allocations, and they extol those projects as epic ground breaking achievements. A good example is the so many days of praise singing of Amosun's infamous flyover in a state with chaotic and completely dilapidated gully-ways a.k.a roads. The whole of Sango, Lambe, Iju, Akute, Alagbole, Ajuwon, etc are a complete shytehole with terrible roads and have been completely neglected by the governor since 2011. The governor has done absolutely nothing in these places even with all the massive tenement rate he collects there.

4. They praise and support anything and everything Tinubu does or say. They explain it away on the false alter of pseudo performance even in the glaring fact that Lagos is still a mess after 14 years of ACN rule!

5. They support the highhandedness and undemocratic actions and inactions of Tinubu who they literally worship and bow to every morning when they wake up. Even in the face of wanton oppression going on, with Tinubu and his cronies taking peoples lands without pity and chasing them away with state resources. And this is not about Ibo or Yoruba. So many people that have been defrauded are Yoruba people. Go to Epe and see how Tinubu has literally acquired all the lands by force using state machinery. One day, people will rise up give those thugs a run for their money. It is coming very soon. People are angry. These fools on NL who collect monies from Alausa will come here talking nonsense as if they are speaking for Lagos state people. Most of them are from Osun, Ekiti and Ogun state. They have zero affiliation to Lagos except as "crumbs from the Asiwaju table" actors in this story of epic deception! Time will surely tell!
Ranting of a confused mad man. Who ask you all of these? And how is these blabbing connected with d topic above? And what makes u any different frow d ACN men u and your likes are so desperate to put down even without any establish evidence. Your case is increasingly getting out of hand, and one that need a quick fix b4 it become hopeless. Always looking for way to run from d main issue. Whether u like it not, it is clear that the presidency is d unseen hand steering this drama, now and don't expect u accept this because u are too brainwash, pathetic and sold out to admit. Never has d office of d president so made undignified like what we are seeing now with unguarded rhetoric utterances from your emloyers. The Presidency at this point should be seen qualling the situation down rather than engaging d opposition in some meaningless show of shame. Last pope, u are a militant and an enemy of better change, quote me any time.

MightyThor: “too small an entity to fight."

This is what i find irritating about the whole Presidency-Amaechi buhaha, these press conferences are definitely not written by the president himself but at least whom ever writes them should show a little decorum for the office of the Governor. People are thinking of how to calm things yet others are making more inflammatory statement.

Personally this his utterance shows that there is still bad blood between the Presidency and the Rivers state Governor, at least on the Presidents side.
'Too small an entity to fight' Honestly, this statement is a self indictment. It proves that there is an existing fuse between the office of the president and the governor himself. For every sane observer of our political brouhaha concerning d presidency and Amechi, it doesn't require a rocket science to conclude that the presidency is indeed d unseen hand of Esau steering this crises and mischieves in river state in a marchavelli like style. Those who come out to disregard this truth should be ashame of themselves, because this show of executive supremacy is undemocratic and should be condemm by all and sundry.

PoliticsRe: Presidency Rejects Removal Of Immunity Clause by Lordlexy: 1:35pm On Jul 08, 2013
My concern basically is d fact tat, d removal might encourage series of frivolous litigation which may cost office holders time to discharge their official duties to the best of their ability. That being said, i believe slight modificatn to limit it to criminal cases will be commendable, that will bring some measure of accountability, check and balancing and transparancy. Moreso, this will make govt less attractive to those in the practice of do or die politics. This no doubt will encourage the ppl to hold its govt accountable, and govt by this will want to sit up to deliver the dividents of democracy. Next, i think we must strongly canvass for an autonomous judicialy void of appointment from d executive, because until that is done, i promise u, this immunity clause removal would amount to nothing.

Adeniyi A.:
People are actually taking God for granted because instant judgments are no more allowed . I only take my phone to church to record sermons.
Even if the self acclaimed pastors are only speaking skills void of spirit and so on., that should not give anybody liberty to disrespect God by answering calls or pinging - the most annoying act to me.
I always say this, that going to a theology school does not qualify you to be a pastor, if you are not genuinely called. There are some occurrences in an holy spirit commissioned gathering that will not give room for people to get involved in some of these dispecable acts, but when a gathering is devoid of God's presence and the leadership is not interested in people's salvation but only what he/she could get from them, such attributes are condoned, tolerated by him because he doesn't want to loose rich members.
In His dealings with us, God is always good.
Praise God! & happy Sunday to you all
God bless you sir. Quite insightful.

mankand: My bro, you are on point here, but one question that comes to my mind is who will we have come out and say such when it is the same criminals in the name or Gosfatherism are imposing leaders on us.

They bully the minority party because they have the media and thugs on their pay roll.

A maximum exodus is needed in this country, we cannot keep patching and thinking all is right. We need fresh brains in the affairs of the country, we need people with vision of leadership, we do not need people with degrees, we need people who know what it takes and means to transform lives. Unfortunately all we have at the moment is crook.

Let me ask you one question, how do you solve a compuelter system that have been infected with trojan virus, malware, rootkits even got your task manager disabled, it does not allow antivirus to be installed because it have taken control of the computer?

I guess the only solution is to reformat the computer and reinstall a new antivirus while taking your time to analyze the files again before puting them back in the system.

That is like the solution to the mnace in this country.

Do you know the number of nigerians trooping out of the country everyday just because of the hardship? Our youths have majirly ventured into cyber crime, while our girls have gone into prostitution. Parents now encourage their children to make ends meet for themselves at all means because they need to survive. The administration from 1980 have failed us all. We needvto reformat nigeria. Pastors are also included.

This is the only way we can restore the hope of our unborn children, or else they will be slaves for the resf of their lives or they will have to migrate to another land neglecting and forgeting their heritage.
I agreed wit d majority of d points u raised about total reform of our leaders, because presently d crop of leadership tat we have, has completely failed d populace. What is left for d youths now is to take their destiny in their hands and demand a change in leadership. You will agree wit me tat d ballot box system of electioneering wouldn't work in tis part of d world witout being hijacked, and the undue interference in our democratic process by God fatherism, thus making it extremely difficult for transparent democracy. What we are practicing cannot be describe as democracy but crasy tat promote wastage, impunity, and imposition. To be honest, our votes dosn't count, there has never been anytin like free n fair election but forcefuly imposing individuals on us who never had reason being there in d first place. We can use tis forum to educate, enlightened and mobilise ourselves to distrupt tis illigalities being perpetuated up there. Lastly bro, pls keep pastors out of tis, they have nothing to do wit bad leadership, because fighting them will equal fighting God, and u don't want tat. Tanks.

@Rossikk, i unbriddle folks like u will always have sometin contrary to say even when u are not making any sense just to be on d good page of d govt. But whether u like or not, one day Nigerians will have their own version, and i promise u, u will be swept off, because ur post as politics is concerns, lack substance, justifies and endorses lawlessness. If making such sacrifices is all tat is required to set a better democratic precedence, then we are ready.
PoliticsRe: FG Condemns Removal Of Egypt's President Morsi. by Lordlexy: 3:10pm On Jul 05, 2013
@Frank. Democracy, rule of law, yearning and aspiration of d ppl doesn't work wit sit-tight leaders who are tyrannic in nature. You sound like d very kid u called most ppl to be when u refused to recognise d fact tat d Egyptian parliament comprises of mainly d MB from Morsis party and as such making his removal impossible since he is there to serve their selfish interest. Agreed that over the years, democracy has been so modified and remodified to this level where it is restricted to d ballot boxes as defined by the western world basically because of their level of exposure, but adopting the whole practice in our clime where do or die politics wit impunity is d order of d day, common Frank C, there's absolutely no better way than d youths hitting d street to demand a change of govt. Nigerians wouldn't have been in this hell if our military were as democratic as the Egyptian arm forces imediately replacing Morsis wit their CJ. The situation in Egypt is a peculiar, and one tat demand d very action taking. I bet you, the coming head of state will uphold d rule of law and will work for d progress of d ppl. I wish we have a democratic military who are ever ready to side d populace like d one we saw up there, at least, by this, d ruling elite would trade caution in their handling of d nation.

The removal of d imunity clause no doubt is a welcome idea, but i want to emphasis tat strenghtening our judiciary should be our major concern because on till tat is achieve, every other effort aim at bringing public officers down to their kneels will be frustrated. So far, d propose bill for an independent candidature should be encouraged. Lastly, i want to urge the legislators to rescue Inec from d clutch of d executive until then, free and fair election will continue to remain a wishful dream.
PoliticsRe: Reps Recommends Removal Of Immunity Clause For President And Govs by Lordlexy: 1:27pm On Jul 05, 2013
I agreed the removal of the imunity clause but at the same time i want the judiciary to be strenghen because this is one arm tat has not leave to expectation. The independent candidature if properly implemented will be d best tin tat ever happen to our democracy. Also, i want to suggest tat d independency of Inec void of on due interference from d executive will be a good development.

Frank-C:
Too many kids running around the block. Nigerian government foreign policy has been very solid, consistent and more ideologically driven lately. Nigeria has had a very bitter experience of military rule. Most Nigerians (apart from few CPC/ACN people) believe that the worst civilian government is better than the best military government.

Nigeria is an acclaimed regional power. A power house that is fast translating her potentials to reality. African biggest democracy and home to more than 250 black african ethnic nationalities who coexist side by side amidst mind boggling contradictions. Home to strong but professional military and a fast maturing democracy.

You can quote me, no voice on the continent is stronger on this issue than Nigeria's. Only ACN/CPC touts and few illiterates will link this strategic foreign policy position to a terribly unlikely similar event in Nigeria or to local party politics, I will not be surprised if some of them even link it to Amaechi because that is all their little mind can see. Which normal human being will expect Nigerian government to remain silent on the happenings in Egypt (your strong ally during your difficult period of civil war), nor even expect the government to support military intervention in civilian politics. Morsi may represent something reprehensible, I personally don't like any political party that espouse religious ideology but he was chosen by majority of Egyptian people for a time limited tenure. Egyptians should learn to strenghten their democratic institutions to impeach the guy but not remove him by street protests and military intervention. Besides, no government fixes a country after one year in office. Rolling out tanks in the street of Egypt just betrays the weakness of Egyptian democratic institutions.

You will notice well reasoned foreign policy position from this government. Ranging from Mali to Libya and now Egypt. There seem to be robust debate in the 'war room' before a position is taken and we have never been proven wrong. Actually, South Africa lost her leadership role in Africa to Nigeria because of the way we have conducted our foreign policy. Not that I expect children to understand this, but I know that GEJ and Ashiru are doing something right.
Rhetoric nonsense of a market wowan. You tink in ur little mind tat Nigerians are not fade up wit d govt. If street protest will get d govt working, so be it. The Egyptian youths have actualy defined for us wat true democracy is by forcefuly evacuating a tyrant who had hijacked every legitimate means to get him impeached. Like it or not, tis is d right step in right direction. A lesson to public office holders tat power belong to d ppl and d can exercise it which ever way they want, because the ppl are the constitutn. Those in govt should watch out, Nig version could be costly.

50 sometin yrs down d line and we are stilltstruggling wit d basic things of life. The Egyptian youths have clearly define to d whole world d true meaning of democracy, and tat power lies wit d ppl and not d elected. In a saner clime, d depth of attrocities, irregularities, incompetence, impunity displayed by our leaders is enough justification to send them packing. Yet, most amazingly, is tat many ethnic warriors still come here to denounce d action of this arab youths. Our docility, is d bane of our undoing, and tat explain why d power tat be can afford to perpetuate every form of illigalities unquestioned. We must get tired of our state of livelihood and install accountability and transparency through street protest since this is the only language tat they understand.

toshmann: The problem with most people is that people think democracy is the same as good govt. no, they ain't the same. But democracy is the best LONG TERM route to good governance but democracy must be allowed to grow.
Undemocratically Busting an elected govt after just one yr doesn't smell good.
But corruptn nd bad leadership is ok abi. They voted him nd they reserve d absolute right to remove him. The voice, yearning nd aspiration of d ppl is d constitutn nd the rule of law. Morsi had hijacked power frm d legislators nd judiciary nd thus shut any constitutional avenue to impeach him. The only means available to the ppl was wat they used. So stop wiping sentiment nd tribal bigotry nd demand a change, except may be ofcourse you are one of those tat eat d crumbs tat falls off from d table. because, as it is, as a nation, we have exausted every avenue to appeal 4 a better governance except tis one....forceful evacuation. I watched one Movie "Gladiator" its the Story About a General that was forced into Slavery, from Being a Slave he was forced to fight for his life as a Gladiator. So, it was a General that became a slave, and a slave that became a Gladiator and Gave ancient Rome back to the People... In the Movie, Marcus Aurellius had conquered a larger part of the world as the then Roman Empire Ceaser..
All Aurellius ever wanted was to grant "Power to the People"

PDP's slogan is "Power to the People".. That is to tell you that, in any democracy, the people have the final say.. Power must always be with the people.. But its so unfortunate that in Nigeria, Power is in the hands of just a very few elite... Well personally, what av learnt from Egypt, no matter how bad it is... Power must always be with the people..

We would never have Power in Nigeria unless we hold our leaders accountable..

If we are too fearful and cowardly as a Nation to risk a Full blown Revolution, then GEJ should declare a State of Emergency on the Nation as a whole.. Stop Business as Usual mentality..

Declare a State of Emergency on the Power Sector, the Aviation industry, the Federal roads, Health care, Education..

Power must always be with the people.
But God bless Fela Anikulapo Kuti who described Nigerians as "Suffering and Smiling" people. The people of egypt are suffering but the refuse to smile about it.

Until we demand that power lies with the people, the world would advance and leave us in the dark age. As I talk, there's no electricity in my house and I am scared my fone would go off and I can't charge it..

Obama said Africa needs electricity to bring her out of Darkness..

But what do we know to do as Nigerians? Come to nairaland and make noise and that's it.. We are a powerless people and powerless we shall remain..
God bless egyptians that have choosen to bear the pains today and reap d gains tommorow as it is often said.... "No pain No gain"

No nigerian wants to die but everybody wants a better Nigeria.. Its so sad, its a pity and a shame on Nigerians.. A country blessed yet so cursed.. A rich country yet so poor.. Crude oil yet no refineries, teaming youth yet high unemployment.. High man power and human resource yet brain drain and industries shutting down.. Plenty churches and Mosques yet religious violence.. Nigerians are the most church and mosque going people I know in the world yet very backward in time..

Obama didn't come to nigeria because he wants to associate himself with the success story of Africa and not the Failures of africa.. I will never blame the kenyan born poor Barrack who didn't visit kenye too cos of Uhuru kenyata's case in the international court..

So, what I learnt from egypt is that "the power must always be with the people"

Yes they voted him in, and even if its a coup'd'etat, yes they can vote him out.. The peoples voice must count.. In Nigeria, our voices ends only on nairaland and in our bedrooms.. Shameless cowardly people..
Until we take our destiny in our hands, we will keep Nose diving till we become a Failed state..

Already Ngozi Okonjo iwela is begining to say Govt might crash in September if Senate doesn't pass budget.. Weda senate pass budget or senate doesn't pass budget, Nigeria is on a crash course..

I'm sorry if I have offened anybody's sensibility but that how I feel and that's my opinion and I'm entitled to my opinion cos its a democracy at least a Naijiocracy.
Post of the year. God bless u for this insightful contribution. I believe is high time we take a queue from egypt and press home our demands irrespective of contrary views that would rather sit down cowardly and criticise such wind of change. Offcourse, if we succeeded wit d occupy Nigeria, then once again we pull this dream through. I suggest that, any opinion that carries any air of ethnic bigotry or feeling of sentiment must be crush in this forum, and such ppl like insince9iria, Rossik and their likes must hence forth be regarded as enemies of change and transformation.

The behaviour of the president is exactly why the country is in such a mess.
Of what value or priority is otuoke in bayelsa when even the oil to the government stake a claim is not derived from there.there are poorer and more remote places in bayelsa which would have benefitted more from this. this clannish and tribalistic behaviour is the exact reason why the country is in such a mess.
Obj never exhibited such behaviour while he was president. He treated/mistreated everybody the same way.
While using his position as president to funnel cash to otuoke/bayelsa, his minions are busy looting the state dry. Bayelsa is one of the state in Nigeria receiving enough money to build a world class infrastructure and society.
If jonathan and his minions were not busy looting bayelsa and nigeria, the money could have been available as assistance to truly poor states like ebonyi, ekiti, yobe . Even the governors of these poor states deemed it necessary to build hospital out of their limited resources.why can't bayelsa do the same with her gigantic allocation?

With a player like Odemwingie, Nigeria have no patriots
It is clear u lack proper training 4 using such derogatory word 2 drive home ur point. I can only pity ur husband tat is if u are married at all. I can only imagine d hell u are currently serving him. A player like Osaze known 2 have givin his all, nd u have d effontry 2 call him names. U are pathetic.

ballabriggs: Since Jona became President after he was saved by Dora, he has signed a total of four budgets and three supplementary budgets. All worth a total of over N12 trillion! Yet we are still renovating roads.

Abati are you there? What do you have to say to this? This is a case of unprotected sex on the national treasury.

OVOKO! OVOKO!! OVOKO!!!
Iam speechless. What attrocity. Outrageous. And yet some gullible minds who feeds on crumbs will come here and try 2 defend Mr President. Little wonder why d state nd d region is in a state of disrepair wit ppl like lastpope nd tat wannabe billionare always lookin 4 way 2 call black white.

You disgust me to be honest. Inspite of tis revelatn, u still come out 2 spew trash. Be civil 4 once nd accept d fact tat tins are not ok wit our elected officials. Is 18 month too small a time 4 one 2 make any meanful impact? Have u ever bothered 2 find out wat Gej used all d heafty allocatn accrued 2 him wen he held sway in bayelsa? Wat legacy did he leave behind? You are no doubt an enemy of progres nd change wit ur bias, blind, unproductive nd unguarded utterances. Ur a shame 2 d youths.

ziccoit: Agreed the NGF might not be a group for advancing the much needed robust all encompassing Nigeria development. It may even be standing on shaky prongs of "right to associate" parlance of constitution. These do not debase and undermine the fact that the present happenings in the forum is a serious error and show of shame orchestrated by the power that be which if not challenged could be a precursor to greater and greatest chain of errors.

Nigeria is not strictly speaking one party nation. That NGF has been choosing and endorsing who be the vice/president is as a result of weak opposition. PDP ordinarily doesn't need NGF to achieve such. I think democracy is a game of majority. Jang's failure at NGF election is a step towards breaking the presidency dominance and control over the state governors. All the sterling qualities ascribed to GEJ before his election were lies. I'm not disappointed. He is the part of the rotten system. That is why he is supporting a failed Jang just to boost his ego.
God bless u. Your analyses on d true situation so far remain outstanding. If only we have a formidable oppositn tat can challenge d power tat be witout necessarily indulge in partisanship, who then cares about NGF. Single party system anywhere remains a threat 2 dev nd nigeria is no exeption. It is a cancer tat must be flush out. The oppositn will be taken seriously d moment d start fielding in technocrat instead of tis recircling of tis same politicians.

obo_man: Nigerians and their typical reasoning.....

Why would you say it serves them right? I think we should condemn all forms of illegal detentions.

Irrespective of what she reports, the best way of fighting back false reporting is counter reporting....

If Nigerians and Nigeriens think her report is biased and one-sided, what they should do is take their national broadcasters to the scene and tell us their own version of events.
Agreed, every form of unlawful detention shld be condemd. But, so far, they were detained 4 a cause tat bothers on fake reporting hence d need 4 questioning. Your insinuation about d authority using local media 2 counter malicious report from an intl media like aljazera known 4 propaganda is inconsequential. I tink, wat d authority has done so far is d best approach 2 retrieve those unconfirmed videos from d crew. Until d do so, i advice d should remained detained. Tis will serve as a deterent to those who tink Nig nd Africa at large is a place where everytin goes.
