not like all of a sudden NIGERIAN AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERS forgot how to design stuff.
Not to burst anyone's bubble but this will not even be the first prototype of a HELICOPTER to be either assembled/ manufactured in NIGERIA
someone has already done it the early 2000s.
The difference is this was done by a Nigerian with limited formal education and no help from the FGN.
The COAS has hinted very strongly that this is doable so what is there to sneer about ?
To either asemble/ manufacture a helicopter from scratch should not take 5 - 10 years unless the people doing the R& D don't know what the @#$%%% they are doing, they are not reinventing the wheel.
The NAF is already collaborating with at least one N. American Manufacturer and 6 Nigerian Universities it should not take 5 years

Yeah it’s a substantial facility for now but everything looks so temporary. Lake chad is a very strategic body of water that has social, economic, environmental and strategic impact in the region.

The navy should get serious and hunker down, build a proper base that can accommodate at least 2000 men and several riverine boats. The army amphibious units should also have a larger presence in that region.


I guess it all depends on money made available and the directive from mr president.

you just don't get it do you? If it's milestone maintenance or a complete overhaul where will NAF get the parts, expertise or the technicians to assemble the entire aircraft? If its an extensive overhaul you will certainly need the OEM which in this case is Lockeed.

STRUCTURALLY this is a complete overhaul, Like Henry I actually more interested in the Charlie in the background to the front of it are parts for the wings.

You're right bro. I have also not noticed any. Perhaps they'll be installed by the Nigerian army later on.

I also agree, the vehicles will be way finer in desert cammo. Besides they are going to be deployed in the northeast. I don't understand why Proforce keeps painting the vehicles in jungle cammo.

On the radios, we'll have to wait and see.

Radios are easy to install.
My educated guess is it was deliberate by ProForce.
The Army has their own set of frequencies and will install it themselves.

Just look at this damn ISIS. It took the US less than two months to invade Iraq. Why not replicate these things in insurgency?

Concerning Nigeria, I have always said it until the military can make sure all liberated areas cannot be accessed by bokoharam then we're making huge success.

My opinion, all liberated areas should be handed over to the dss with military presence as protections too. The DSS and NPF team can now raid areas where suspected bokoharam elements maybe hiding. This should be done on a regular basis and then success will be achieved.

With this, bokoharam will be pushed back. Cutting off liberated areas from BHT territory means their fuel supply will be cut short, etc.

The strategy needs to be reviewed. I remember there was a time our troops came under regular ambush. This happened frequently then where military convoy was been ambushed regularly but the military seems to have changed strategy and also adapt to bokoharm ways.

Apache is definitely in the league of MI-28 and KA-52. The MI35M is an advance MI-24. Just like there is a difference between the F-18, F-15 and F/A-18, same to the MI-35, MI-28, and KA-52. Avionics, sensors, capabilities, and performances differ.



It will be of our best interest to go for the MI-28 except you want to pay dearly with the American embargo.

Of these only the Augusta operates in the same family as the Apache
