The bible is a collection of books written by different authors and compiled over time. Claims of divine inspiration are about as useful as sprinkling magic dust over it. It's just a claim, made by one, or a few books in there, which is interpreted to make the entire collection seem more credible.

Simply put, it's a meaningless claim.

In addition to that, I think another mistake you're making is trying to treat genesis as a historical book. Claims made by the book, and any other book must first the proven and substantiated before they can be accepted as true.

Bro back up a little bit. Trust me u are preaching to the choir here. I know and agree with what u are saying. Its a collection of books like u rightly said written by different authors of which it was influenced by the writers pov, thought process, peraonality and writing styles. Most of these books where written hundreds of years later after the incidents occured. For example the first book wrritten in the bible (job) was written some 400 years after. Do u know how long that time is for word of mouth to be passed accurately before being written. Some were even written like 600 yrs after.

There's an experiment about inaccuracies of word of mouth i watched. About 30 people were in a room. They were lined up and spaced out. A peice of info was whispered into the ear of the last person on the line. He was then told to pass the info to the next person and it went on like that to the end of the line. By the time it got to the end of the line, it was totally different from what was said at the beginning. This is how rumors start too. These were people in the same space in the same time. Imagine then many generations later.

I believe the bible is simply meant to be taken metamorphically than literally. Cause its filled with man made dross covering up the small truth inside of it. I don't even want to go into claims that can't be substantiated inside of it with science like the flood and humans living outrageous ages amongst many otherz. I just want people who take it literally to explain it literally when it says one thing here and another there especially as they claim its homogeneous and consistent. So they should explain it literally then. U see it for what it is.

I'm going to press x to doubt the bolded. If its harmonious and consistent as you say then it'll be free from contradictions. It wouldn't say A here and the next minute say B right? Or am i missing the meaning of harmonious and consistent.

If it is explain to me the following, some of which ive mentioned on this thread. Im all ears and open to your views.

1.) Who did Cain and Seth get married to? Its two things its either there were other people which contradicts the story or they married and slept with their sisters as they were the only ones on earth which is a sin and contradicts according to Leviticus 20:19. Was incest not a sin then or it became one later. Did God change his mind? Does he change his mind?

2.) The number of pairs of clean animals that God told Noah to take into the Ark? Genesis 6:19 - 20 says 2, Genesis 7:2 says 7. That's not harmonious and consistent is it??

3.) In GEN 6 v 3, God reduced the life span of man to 120yrs. But in Gen 11 v 12 -16 in events after the reduction, it lists a lot of people that lived past 120... So... Quite contradictory... Or did God change his mind. Does he change his mind?

4.) About the laws of Moses been usefu? Yes “All scripture is... profitable...” 2 Timothy 3:16. No. “ . . . A former commandment is set aside because of its weakness and uselessness... “(Hebrews 7:18). Which is it?

5.) No one has ever seen God 1 John 4:12

No man has seen or can see God 1 Timothy 6:16

All these dont look harmonious and consistent to me, they look like contradictions 3xcept u can explain them away to which ill say shoot. But I seriously doubt that. There are so many more ive come across with no one able to explain. Instead they get angry and defensive, resulting to ad hominems like u have. If u can explain these few be my guest. Because if you look at the context of the verse it said he was cursed to be a wanderer and he told God anyone who saw him while he was wandering would kill him. So he was expecting to encounter other people while raoming the earth away from his family hence God expecting him to encounter these other people obliged him and placed a mark for when he encounters them.

The statement I made is based on the premise that there is no evidence that God exists. If God exists, there should be evidence of this. However, there is no evidence of God's existence. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that there is no God.

I recently began to really respect this statement. As it is today, nobody has definitve proof that'll appeal widely across board as objective fact that there is a God or there is none, so every view is obviously subjective. From my pov i know there is a God. If i really want to explain how i came to that conclusion i'ld write a lot way more than this. And i honestly don't really want to, cause i don't know if u'r close minded or open minded and can partake in an open healthy discussion.

Anyways one thing i'll point out is that u atheists are most times just as bad as religious folks/christains. Strong baseless opinions held as facts when not verifiable and unwilling to shift ground when presented with facts to the contrary. Basically u're all close minded.
I think the answer to life is like a puzzle we are tryin to solve. Atheists and Christains(religious peeps), view the puzzle from one angle that stops them from viewing the whole concept of the puzzle and come to differing conclusions while viewing the puzzle from the same limited angle.

How can u solve the puzzle when ure not viewing from a good unlimited angle that shows the whole concept of the puzzle before you come to a logical conclusion. U guys have not even gotten the complete peices of the puzzle but you claim to have solved it. Stop looking through religious lenses only for proof of God. I didn't find my proof of God in the bible, i ironically found it in science. Understanding how the world works and how everything interacts with each other through science made me know there's definitely a God/Gods/Being/Energy.

Releigion for me is simply a precursor to science. Basically how we explained the world before we got more answers through science to know how it really works. Life is really complex and if u view the whole complex system, its quite incomprehensible that this beautiful mad complex design doesn't have a designer. Space, planets, minerals, air, gas, the literal one in a million chance of how the earth exists and how the conditions are somehow favourable is not by accident if u look at the process by which it was formed. Living things and their body structures and how their bodies function, the food chain, the eco sytem, language, behaviors and traits of different species., the vast amount of varying species and how they all interact, music, language, the laws of nature and physics, shapes. How all these things interact is with one another is crazy and complex. Then Life and death.

All these can't just come out of nothing. Just like with all our advancements we've not been able to create a process to create something out of nothing. The system is far too complex to just start out on its own, coupled with the low probabilty of everything been just the right conditions and amount to happen. Instead of seeing this complex world as evidence, the athiests looks through the lenses of religion and sees its filled with man made flawed concepts and take it as evidence that a God like that can not exist. When it is most likely not an accurate depiction of God. God is most likely complex that we can't comprehend, sort of like time dilation and quantum mechanics are. We ubderstand but can't fully comprehend.

Most of all those religious texts are filled with man made crap and i don't think its the true accurate depiction of God and what he wants.. Not discounting that there's some truth in there though. I believe, all religions, all psuedo religions, all sciences and all psuedo sciences hold pieces of this puzzle we trying to solve on the question of what is life? and the purpose of it?. The different religions are just trying to reach God and answer the question in thier own way. Science's answers the question with facts and evidences to get closer to the truth.

We are all seeking for answers and have been seeking for answers. We've got some answers but are still a million miles away from the truth. So anyone holding a stance based on about 4000 yrs of happenings according to religion, when the earth has existed for 4.5 billion or doesn't consider the vast complex world and its workings is a joker. Just be open minded bro that's all. My position on all these could change by next year as im always looking at new eveidences and learning everyday. So don't just be fixed. No one has all the answers.

Normally you hear the bible is God's word given and written by divine inspiration, so most people take it as God's words literally which it is said to be. So if it's God's words and "God is not an author of confusion", wouldn't the bible literally NOT contradict itself?! So i wanted to do the whole bible in a year thing and ive began to notice some things just don't add up and in good faith i'ld like open minded christians(those who read their bibles not my pastor said), if there are any here to explain these things to me.

I think most of these contradictions have contributed to the several denominations(10,000+) of Christianity even though they claim to hear from one God. They have different doctrines and interpret the bible differntly while hearing from the same God. With the massive irony being that they don't even agree with the religion where they originated from which is Judaism as jews don't believe in Jesus and Jesus was a jew so they stick to the old testament. Even christians generally don't unanimously agree on the books included in the bible. Some are totally removed while some extraz are added in some denominations e.g Catholic

Sorry for the tangent but anyways the main iss is i'm trying to make sense of some of these things that don't add up or are contradictions. I'll share one today to discuss and more later.

According to the bible, Adam was the first man on earth, while Eve the first woman. They birhted the first procreated people Cain and Abel. We all know what went down between them. After cain killed Abel, God cursed him and put a mark on him. Here's the part i can't explain (GEN 4 v 13-16). Cain made the following statement: "Whoever finds me would kill me" and God responded “Not so; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him.

If they're the first people on earth who are these other people that are being referred to that could find and kill Cain

Uld still experience same thing with samsung. Ive experienced it twice now A70 and A71 and read about others with similar experience. Sudden drop in battery performance from awesome to average. Subsequent updates might improve it but not to what it was before. My A72 is still on android 11 one u.i 3.1. Not updating nada and battery life is still awesome after a year plus. The UI updates im missing are painful but its a sacrifice im willing to make.

First of the "observable" universe is frigging large, if large(40+ billion light years) can even quantify it and it's continually expanding as I'm sure u know. So we've not even been able to fully get that. Like... our solar system consists of earth, the other planets, thier moons, asteriod etc all surrounding the sun which is the main star .

There are over 300 billion stars in our galaxy(milky way), which all have different bodies like planets, asteriods and the rest surrounding them. Which goes to show u the crazy amount of planets in just our galaxy. Then there are over 300 billion plus galaxies with the closest to us(andromeda) being 2 million + light yrs away. All with thier own stars and solar systems and planets and that's just what we've been able to observe. Now to ask where all that is located... is kind of ludicrous.

The universe basically is everything and everything is located in the universe. If u are asking for anything beyond that when we've not been able to answer and understand fully what's within, it's just ludicrous. Uhmm... How would u say sacarsm doesn't count. Just goes to show like uve been told people's perception of humor can be quite different. Awesome. An intresting take away is that there are about 4000- 4300 religions in the world. The no 1 religion in the world which is Christianity originated from Judaism, but Jews do not believe in Jesus Christ ergo they stick with the older texts while the new formed religion adds those older texts to newer texts of which some text were sidelined totally out of the book. They outgrew their origins as seen from the numbers.

Christianity has about 10,000 denominations, all with different nuanced interpretations of the same text and claim to hear from one God while they don't agree on the same thing. Just as Christianity broke away from Judiasm, so also do different sects break away from one another forming newer doctrines. A lot of other religions follow this same pattern especially the big ones, so which religion is the right one when many of them don't even agree with themselves.

Believe i was 8 or 9 then. Found a lighter, was fascinated by it. Burnt a couple of leaves and papers but it was not enough. Went to the next compound to get something but they weren't around. Got carried away playing with my lighter and started trying to light the grass on their fine, well cut lawn on fire. Unfortunately the fire started spreading and i ran away. It burnt the entire lawn in front of their house and the area was wide. Everywhere was black. They were even lucky their house did not catch fire. No one knows i did it till today. Had a funny ludicrous encounter this evening that made me realise that even more people than i thought are ignorant and close minded bodering on delusion. So i had not eaten the whole of today cause i didn't feel hungry and my partner had been on my case to eat or at least eat something else even if i didn't want to eat what's at home. Thought of it and told her i wanted sharwarma and suya. She obliged she was going to get it for me on the condition i went with her.

While at the place booking the order, the lady complimented us saying we really look good together, we are both fine people bla bla bla The guy with her then said hope i''m taking care of her cause she look's like an angel, pamper her bs. I said nah, she doesn't... they were all stunned looking at me like 😳.. but i was being quite honest. The guy was like bros why u go talk like that na she be fine girl. I asked the man standing close to me, sir honestly speaking does she really look like an angel? I could sense the disgust before his response, "what sort of question is that".

All this while my partner was smiling. Silent talks began in the kitchen, simply told em i would explain why i said so but didn't want to hold things up, so told the man to meet us where we were sitting when he was done ordering. My partner was like u hv energy for drama and uve not eaten. When he came i asked sir are u a christian? He said yes. Do u read ur bible? Looking puzzled he said yes, why?! How do angels look like? He described the 1st image. I said nope, then showed him the images on my phone... That's what angels look like, my queen doesn't look like that.

He didn't beleive me, so i read him the passages that described it in the bible and he was laughing, sheepishly said he didn't know. But u said u read ur bible nau(@ least he was open minded to recieve facts). I got up and went to show them in the kitchen what i had shown him, they finally understood where i was coming from but were arguing it couldn't be. These were christains that said they read their bibles. Showed them the scriptures and everything but they kept arguing got angry & tried to twist it that those were demons or something else saying which version of the bible was that and all. I knew i ws talking to not just ignorant people, but certainly close minded, cause ive shown u facts but u still reject it and choose to argue cause its not what u've always known, being exposed to or indoctrinated with.

Funny thing is if they simply read their bibles they'd know. Unfortunately most people are like that, that's why they are so gullible that these mog's can twist anything without context and present to em as fact and they'll believe cause it's my pastor. But if u read u'ld see things for yourself in the bible but nope, we don't want to read. Not even the religious book we claim to practice. If u ask majority of christains what an angel looks like they'll describe the first image like those people today but the other images are what they actually look like as described in Ezekiel 1, 10, Isaiah 6, Daniel 10, Revelation 10.... research the rest. That's why when angels appear you usually hear "Fear Not". This is not to say they don't appear in human form, according to the bible there are instances they do. But the attached images are their true form and not what art, propaganda and indoctrination has led us to believe which is the 1st image.

If christains read they'll see a lot on inconsistencies in their bibles which would make em think for themselsves. All the contradictions and what not(think i'll be pointing out these inconsistencies and contradictiins in subsequent threads for discussion with open minds to try get an explanation) with what they actually practice today and have been told. Ironically the bible says it best " My people perish for lack of knowledge". Those who claim to have seen angels in their true form did u see something like this😁?!
