Travel / Re: The Deplorable Condition Of Roads In Mafuluku, Lagos (see PHOTO) by lukaino(m): 4:56pm On Aug 02, 2018
I live in Lagos, so i can say that i know the city very well.
The current government led by Ambode is not doing well as regards maintenance of existing roads in the state. Even with the presence of Lagos Public works corporation (LPWC) whose only job is the maintenance of existing roads. This corporation which was established during the Fashola era was then very effective, patching all the major roads and streets. Fast forward to Ambode's era, they became almost non- existent. Now you can find pot holes on major roads left unattended for months, causing traffic. A very good/ current example is the pot hole at Maryland just before the traffic lights. Ambode is only concerned about new projects without maintaining existing ones.
There's hardly a good road to ply on the Lagos mainland, this explains the reason why Lagosians were surprised at the speed with which the road to the Fela shrine was fixed overnight when the French president was visiting..

Education / Re: Stop! Don't Buy That HND Form! by lukaino(m): 5:06pm On Dec 23, 2017
Fongido:

Pls sir sorry for disturbing you. I'm always glad to find out things from someone who knows better than I do.
pls what if I go for HND then I do direct entry.
that will take 4 years. now I'll have ND, HND and Bsc degree. instead of doing 4 years for Bsc and at the end I'll have Bsc and ND. plus jamb stress.
is it a good idea? Hoping to hear from you. Thank you

It depends on your course of study.
If you're studying Bus admin, accountancy, & applied sciences, then you should try to graduate from HND with an upper credit. Unilag's Distance learning institute will grant you admission to start from 300 level.
All you need is to buy the form and seat for an entrance exam . Though it is a part time program, you will get same Bsc certificate as other Unilag graduates.
Education / Re: Stop! Don't Buy That HND Form! by lukaino(m): 2:54pm On Dec 17, 2017
First, I want to thank the OP for this post.
I graduated from a polytechnic 16 years ago with an upper credit. I have been working for about 14yrs now, so I believe I have the necessary background and experience to give some sound advice on this subject.

The discrimination against HND graduates started with the government of Nigeria who rated the Bsc above the HND. This is very evident by the minimum qualifications often set by many government ministries, departments and agencies. For example, an HND holder cannot apply to an agency such as NERC while others who employ HND, make them juniors to Bsc holders regardless of experience.
This simply implies that the HND certificate was created by the government to play second fiddle in the labour market.

In the private sector, the situation is worse. The HND graduates are sought after by mostly Asian/ middle East companies (I. e Chinese, Indians & Lebanese) who give nothing but poor wages with harsh working conditions.

Being an HND graduate, places a limit on your eligibility for employment in blue chip companies. For example, Telecom, banking, IT, etc, have little or no place for you. And even if they employ you, they give you petty roles whereby your highest role would be an Assistant manager.

Trust me, the painful part of being an HND holder is when you find out that you can only apply for 4 out of 15 job openings. It's that bad.

In order to improve our chances of getting good jobs, most HND graduates(myself included) ended up seeking part time admissions into Universities to obtain Bsc certificates. Unilag for instance admits polytechnic graduates with lower credit to 100 level while upper credit HND holders get admitted to 300 level. (HND graduates always outshine others in class)

You can save yourself the trouble by not buying that polytechnic form while the government can save us all the trouble by either scrapping these polytechnics or upgrading them to become degree awarding institutions.

Education / Re: Primary 3 Exam Question About Buhari & Jonathan: Unfair or Not? by lukaino(m): 7:26pm On Dec 16, 2017
Really, there is no problem with this question. The only problem is that we are fast losing our sense of history.
It's a no brainer that MKO Abiola was a great philanthropist whose impact was felt across Africa. In various areas including sports.
This must have been taught to the children just like I was also taught in the 80's. History must be returned to our schools at all levels.

Truly, if Nigeria must move forward, we need to do something very different from the norm.
I would give my support to a person in the mould of Donald Duke regardless of his religion, tribe & political leanings.

This is no longer the time for primordial and divisive sentiments but time to show true loyalty and interest in the Nigerian project.

Education / Re: See The Buildings Of Uhonmora Secondary Commercial School In Edo State (photos) by lukaino(m): 10:59am On Sep 23, 2017
Sadly, this is the case with most secondary schools in Edo North. The Oshiomhole administration did some work in this regard but it was surely not enough. They only concentrated their efforts on schools which are sited along the roads, which can be seen by all, while those in remote locations were neglected.
I just hope that the current government would do what is right. I know they will start playing to the gallery once these pictures go viral.
Politics / Re: Work Begins At The Presidential Villa In Abuja After Rats Infestation. Photos by lukaino(m): 7:01pm On Aug 24, 2017
I have just a few questions.
1. Shouldn't they have carried out these repairs during the period when the president was away? As if the president went to London with the Villa...
2. Were they thinking he won't return?
3. Is the president not supposed to punish his aides who failed to carry out these repairs at the right time? Instead of embarrassing him before the world?
4. And what exactly was Garba Shehu thinking when he gave that lame, puerile Rats excuse?
Politics / Re: Fashola Replies Goje: "You Need Behavioural Guidance On Parliament" by lukaino(m): 3:08pm On Jul 07, 2017
I don't understand Nigerians. Are you saying that Fashola should keep quiet while his ministries budget is watered down? What the Senate has done is a deliberate attempt at making him incapacitated while waiting to cry foul at the end of the day that the minister is a non performer.
This is the reason why we have so many ineffective ministers.

Very sad! The man was an experienced officer having being in Yobe and other Boko Haram hot spots. I wonder why he panicked when tackling the robbers.

I saw the video and I was like he could have first demobilized the car by shooting the tires, take out the driver who was walking out of the car majestically.

After taking out the first robber, one was about coming out of the car to attack him, he could have waited to take that one out too, leaving just one who will be forced to flee and the policemen would have been a hero.

I guess poor training and welfare caused him to panic.

Do you know how many bullets he had in his gun?
Besides, someone told me that combatants don't fight in such enclosures.

Politics / Re: Edo 2016: How Ize-iyamu Shone At Debate-Vanguard Newspaper by lukaino(m): 2:07pm On Sep 06, 2016
What antecedents has PDP previously laid in Edo state to now warrant asking for votes from the electorates? Mediocrity/lack of vision?
From the days of Lucky Igbinedion till Prof. Osunbor, what did they put on ground in the state for future reference?
A reasonable individual would make a decision based on substance rather than on hate campaigns, sentiments and empty promises.

It is a pity that most Edo people seem to have suddenly lost their memories and sense of history.
I ask this simple question: which among the last three administrations in Edo state performed the most?

The one singular grievance of majority of the people is that Obaseki is an annointed candidate of Oshiomhole.
is this reason strong enough in making a serious decision of whom to vote?
Fashola was annointed by Tinubu, Ambode was also annointed by Tinubu likewise many others who are governing today. Did they not perform?
Obiano who is doing well today in Anambra was annointed by Peter Obi and the list goes on and on.

Since the beginning of this Edo gubernatorial campaigns, i have not heard a youth, elite or the ordinary citizens of Edo state talk intelligently or objectively when it comes to the reason for their decisions, rather, they come up with a litany of hate speeches against a governor who has raised the bar of performance in Edo state.
I am a citizen of Edo state who is aware of the happenings in the state. Try to be objective for once.

May Edo people not plunge themselves from fire into fry pan.

I want to ask Edo people some pertinent questions:
1. What is PDP bringing to the table in Edo?
2. What are their antecedents ?
3. Who are the major players in Edo PDP?
4. What structure did they lay during their 8years rule to build upon now?

Edo people should rise beyond tribal sentiments and think objectively for the sake of the future of our children.
