Xetima: I disagree with you sir. With limited resources governments should look at reducing waste. Why would you be talking of free education in a decayed economy? The author asserted that their freebies were being implemented without understanding the economic implications. How many of us leave these free education to put our children in private schools where we pay exorbitant fees? Or are your children attending the public school? Does Aregbesola child attend these school? All these freebies are to hoodwink the masses. Just because you can afford to send your kids to private school doesn't mean thousands of other can. Free education is not a luxury for any right thinking government, it's a must. Do you understand the repercussions of thousands of uneducated workforce..... Think Boko Haram. It's neither sustainable nor effective.. I don't know about other regions but in the southwest free education from primary to secondary level have always been part of government policy. Chigold101: well he said before Awo started the free education scheme he had everything worked out, but these governors do not work out things. They just embark on an unplanned journey.
Now consider this: what is the benefit of free education when there is no teacher to teach? If Osun teachers for examples stay home cos of unpaid salary, how will that benefit the pupils?I think the main thing is for these governors to develop means of increasing their IGR first, before embacking on feeding their citizens. What's the need of teachers if parents who live with less than one dollar per day can't afford to send their children to school. You guys are talking as though governance is all about payment of salaries. |

Politics › Re: Rochas Okorocha’s Ludicrous Plea For Aid To Pay Salaries. by luvmijeje(f): 1:30pm On May 09, 2015 |
Let’s go back to the main issue. I had said it in previous articles that these governors were not voted into power to give excuses. They should simply resign if they can’t do the job and allow people with good ideas and political will to come in. Endorse! If they are bereft of ideas, they should all resign. No be by force. Imagine a state like Osun implementing free education when it can’t pay salaries of the teachers in the schools. Imagine what just N1000 per pupil (per term) in public schools will do to Osun State’s revenue and teachers’ salaries? Late Awolowo had the financial implications of his free education programme in the defunct Western Region properly worked out before implementation. These days, these governors just introduce all sorts of free things - free education, free health, free books, free marriage, and the rest of them, without considering the financial implications in the short, medium and long term. As sensible as this writeup is, this is the part I don't agree with......... Majority of them are beneficiaries of free education so why deny the present generation what they themselves benefit from. They should focus on all other areas to do their cut saving measures. |

In his usually uncompromising manner the Oba noted that a majority of those responsible for the feud were also in the audience as they successfully created an industry out of reporting to “Party A” what “Party B” had said about him and vice-versa.This trend, he added, escalated and prolonged the feud between the duo. This are the kind of people that caused wahala between Jonathan and Obasanjo. Buhari and Ambode should please be careful around them. |

Now you can ask me: why did we publish? That advert came on a Sunday, January 18th, and we published it on January 19th. The advert that was eventually published had been watered down considerably. I came back from church, I opened my system and when I saw it I screamed. Fayose is too much of a tout to be a Governor............ But your defense is not enough for the breach of ethics. You guys are big disgrace to journalism. According to the Electoral Act 2010, Section 95 (1), ‘A political campaign or slogan shall not be tainted with abusive language directly or indirectly likely to injure religious, ethnic, tribal or sectional feelings.’
Section 95 (2) states that ‘Abusive, intemperate, slanderous or base language or insinuations or innuendoes designed or likely to provoke violent reaction or emotions shall not be employed or used in political campaigns.’ Fayose is very lawless. |

francizy: So you too believe that smelly lies Aregdesola sold to Osun people? Chai! I don die sha...
FG allocation to all states of the federation reduced due to oil price plunge. It didn't affect only those states owing. If you are observant enough, you'd have known or seen that those state governors just used the allocation handed to them for their personal purses and for campaigns.
Osun state allocation was reduced and Ekiti state allocation was reduced too. Mind you, Ekiti and Osun state are almost on par based on FG allocation, there Mr. Aregbesola has no excuse for not paying workers salary. Everyone that's affected are all guilty, that's is why I said it's unacceptable coming from Aregbe. What does he want the workers to feed on? If not that he performed well in his first term I will have totally rubbish him. |

Please, let's call a spade a spade, Aregbesola is a very terrible governor and Fayose will outperform him by miles.
You will say I told you so. At least Ekiti state is not making headlines for owing salaries. And we all know why.... Aregbe performed excellently in his first time...... But so far I'm seriously disappointed in him...... Owing workers six months salary is unacceptable even if Osun is not the only state affected. But for Fayose, the Governor that has less than 4years to deliver dividends of democracy to his people and has not show sign of getting down to work....... It's a big shame to him |
