Christianity Etc › Re: Father Mbaka Slams Critics, Says God Deserves Money And Will Punish Them by LZAA: 2:16pm On Dec 08, 2018
Letenwam:
Father Mbaka, the Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, has fired back at his critics and further stated that God deserves money after he was called out over the viral video in which he was spotted trying to compel the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi, during the annual harvest and bazaar celebration of the church to disclose how much he would donate to his church project.

Father Mbaka who stated that the bazaar day is strictly for raising of funds and that is the only time his church asks for donations, said;

“There are some people who are ingrates. These are people from the kingdom of succubus and Incubus. I want to tell you that all these things are caused by jealousy and envy. They are not fighting Mbaka for anything wrong.

“Everyone who came was blessed but they turned it against me, saying I am after money. God deserves money. If you don’t want to bring your own in your stinginess, hold it. I will give God all that I have and even if anybody wants to join them, you’re free to join them.

“Where God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are, there Fr. Mbaka will be. I will build this place for the church. Whoever felt insulted, I apologise. But I didn’t come to your house. It was you who came for the bazaar.”

Father Mbaka who subsequently asked God to punish his detractors and those “firing arrows at him”, added that all those fighting him were fighting God. Though he did not mention Obi’s name, however the controversial priest said any politician who had donated money to his ministry was free to send his or her bank account number and he would gladly return the donation.

He added, “As for me, I am in high spirits. I want to assure you, those who are thinking that it is their money we will use to build this ministry, before the end of tomorrow, I will send all their monies into their accounts.”

On why he demanded money from Obi publicly, Father Mbaka told Punch that he wanted the process of donation to be open and transparent so that no one would accuse him of diverting funds.

“We do it outside, publicly because if I am silent, rumours will begin to spread that someone gave me $10m and why did Mbaka keep quiet? They will abuse me even if I am silent because anytime they want to attack this ministry, they will start somewhere.

“If I am silent they will attack, if I talk, they will attack it. And don’t forget that the liturgy was not tampered with. I finished the mass and even removed my priestly attire. No one can fault me on that" he said.

Crime › Re: Robbers Who Killed Victor Akinbile Arrested (Pics) by LZAA: 12:39pm On Dec 04, 2018
EzegeNG:
Police in Osun have brought to an end the heinous activities of a gang of armed robber members that robbed and later killed one Lagos businessman, Victor Akinbile, 48, by setting him ablaze while locked in the trunk of his car.

The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Olafimihan Adeoye, declared this while parading the suspects and other criminals at the state police command in Osogbo.

CP Adeoye said the gang of four, Rasheed Waheed 35, native of Ikirun, Ahmed Rafiu 33 native of ikirun,Owolabi Bashiru 51 ,native of Ikirun and Kayode 27 ,native of Ondo were all apprehended on 27th of November after the police was informed about the missing of Akinbile.

Giving the details of the case, CP Adeoye posited that the police acted on a case of suspicious transfer of N3 million from the deceased account and the inability to reach him after he travelled to Ikirun from Lagos on Nov.26 by some of his friends.

The police boss further stressed that friends of the deceased also informed the police that Akinbile had informed them that he would be passing a night in Ikirun, his home town, and return the next day but were worried about the money transferred and inability to reach him.

Adeoye said the police anti-kidnapping and SARS team were deployed to investigate the matter and by Nov.29 and 30, four suspects were arrested and the burnt body and car of the victim were recovered.

“The police team discover that the robbery team consist of four men, and one of them happens to be a security guard who alerted his members that the victim/deceased was in town.

“The gang later came to the victims abode, where he passing the night, broke into the house and took the N25,000 he was having on him and equally forced him to transfer N3 million to the account of one of them.

Politics › Re: PDP Wasted 16 Years Of Governance — Senator Olamilekan Adeola by LZAA: 11:12am On Dec 03, 2018
gasufri:
Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola who represents Lagos West Senetorial district had on Saturday urged Nigerians to reject the antics of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019, saying the party has nothing to offer the country.

Speaking with journalists at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Ikeja, Adeola said the PDP lacked the vision to govern the country.

He noted that the 16 years of PDP in power was a waste as they did little or nothing to improve the lots of Nigerians.

Adeola said the All Progressives Congress (APC) had put the country on the path of progress in the last few years, and would achieve much more in 2019.

“Nigerians should reject the PDP in 2019; they have nothing to offer. They were in power for 16years and they achieved nothing.

“in fact the three years of the APC administration are better than the years of PDP in power. It was 16 wasted years. PDP is a failure, they should be rejected,” he said.

The senator said one particular step that pointed to what he called the ineptitude of the PDP was the way they privatised the power sector.

Adeola alleged that the PDP sold power assets to friends and fronts all in the name of privatisation.

He said the hangover of the problem was still with the country till date.

The senator said electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) foisted on the country had done little to add value to the power sector, and Nigeria would be better with replacements.

Adeola said he had acquitted himself remarkably well as senator representing Lagos West.

He said his emergence in the primaries of APC to represent the zone again in 2019 reflected the confidence party men and the people had in him.

Adeola said he had organised many empowerment programmes and executed many projects that had touched the lives of residents.

He listed some of the programmes as the distribution of 500 UTME forms to school leavers, granting University scholarships to 56 students, and the facilitation of entrepreneurship training for 600 youths.

Education › Re: UNN Turns Out 480 Phd Graduates, The Highest In Nigerian University History by LZAA: 7:45pm On Dec 02, 2018

UNN turns out highest number of Ph.D graduates in Nigerian university history

Access Bank MD Wigwe, Stanley, Chukwudozie bag honorary doctorate degrees.
Zik’s wife becomes Professor Emeritus.

Four hundred and eighty (480) graduands on Saturday received Postgraduate degrees and diplomas of the University of Nigeria in what the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Benjamin Ozumba, described as “the highest by any Nigerian university in one year.”

The university also conferred honorary doctorate degrees on three distinguished Nigerians. The Group Managing Director of Access Bank Herbert Wigwe, former executive secretary of the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) Mr. Reginald Chika Stanley, and then the Managing Director of the Dozzy Group, Sir Daniel Chukwudozie, who bagged the degrees, said they felt ‘greatly honoured’ to be associated with the University of Nigeria in such capacity. Ozumba in an exclusive chat with The Guardian, said the honour conferred on the three Nigerians was “not a knee-jerk decision” but a product of careful appraisal of their contribution to the nation and mankind. He specifically pointed out Wigwe’s successful efforts in moving Access Bank to its “present status as one of the top banks from 16th position to number six in just 10 years.” He said the banker’s idea of establishing a chair for the university was worthy of emulation.

The vice chancellor also described Reginald Stanley as a successful Nigerian who served the country as a technocrat and has, since his retirement, continued to make a positive impact in the private sector. Ozumba said the third awardee, Chukwudozie, was a philanthropist who had made an immense contribution to the growth and welfare of many Nigerians.

At least, 480 of the 2,113 graduands, who were conferred with postgraduate degrees of the university by the Chancellor and Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Akande, were Ph.D candidates.

Eleven retired professors of UNN, one of who were Professor Uche Azikiwe, the wife of the founder and wife of Nigeria’s first president, the late Nnamdi Azikiwe, were elevated to the university’s club of “Emeritus Professors of the University of Nigeria.”

Vice-chancellor Ozumba said the 480 doctorate degree awardees represent 22.7 percent of the 2,113 postgraduates who, like their 9,702 first degree and diploma counterparts, had fulfilled the standard requirements of character and learning as stipulated in the school’s regulations. Describing the figure as ‘unprecedented’ and ‘remarkable,’ the vice chancellor explained that the significant increase in the number of postgraduate degrees awarded at last weekend’s graduation “reflects a deliberate response to the mandate given to first-generation universities to increase the enrolment of postgraduate students. “I’m quite pleased that my staff have been able to adapt to the additional challenge placed upon them by the increased enrolment without necessarily compromising on the standard for which the university was known,” Ozumba told The Guardian in a chat on Sunday.

The (grand finale) second day of the 48th convocation ceremony was set aside for the purpose of conferring the postgraduate degrees and diplomas. It followed the previous day’s event at which 9,702 were awarded first degrees, diplomas and certificates of the university.
