holyvirgin: This is to all young girls aspiring to get married to an 'obodo oyibo' man abi 'dan kasan woje' also known as abroad husband, most of em are drugpushers and slaves in a white mans country.. Your claim is a show of ignorance. In Europe, there is dignity in labour. Any kind of labour. People born and bred here do the same job. And it affords them a normal living standard, more than 75% of people in Naija can boast of. Awolowo did menial jobs as a student at LSE in London. It didn't stop him becoming Nigeria's best statesman ever. As for drug pushers, it seems Western media has deceived you into believing that Nigerians (including you) are all criminals. I hope you are happy with that. A few relatively privileged Naija in Lagos/Abuja/big cities turn up their noses at poor but hardworking people. It is not grave diggers or street sweepers you should worry about, worry about lazy scammers who soil our name. I did menial jobs too to finance my degrees and I know of colleagues: brilliant medics today, making Naija proud, who did same. At the appropriate time, he can top up his qualification and may some day return as a prof. Do you know how many family members he must have helped back home with his menial job? If he had found a well-paying job in Naija, would he have gone abroad in the first place? |
In Naija we lack proper marketing despite a retinue of jobless MBAs and others supposedly specialised in business/marketing etc. I have no doubt he's got great products. I have visited their websites a few times. It leaves a lot to be desired. In an unforgiving business environment like naija, I can understand that he may not have the latitude to "dash" out many free cars in the name of marketing. But have a good website, reliable info-line and a few jobless Engineering graduates to provide detailed info on products. Also, they should target the lower middle classes: like 100-200k monthly people by creating products (family sedan, saloon) under 1.1m and provide adequate finance options. If Tata can produce cars under $2000, Innoson should try somthing similar (at least under $5000). Imagine 30k x 36 months option for a 5-seater 1.6L car. Sponsor or part sponsor programmes like Nigeria's got talent. Why can't a winner go home with an Innoson SUV instead of KIA? |
You see, Innoson ain't played their part yet.. They should follow the above steps in West Africa and patronage will be automatic.. profit is bound to be 200% of cost..[/ Gbam |
I am not a guru by any stretch. I think longspan may just be easier/quicker to fix. A friend's 2 x 3bedroom flats with security post is being roofed at roughly 660k for nogging and about 820k for .45mm longpan. Everything included. Another person did a 3bedroom bungalow at 305k nogging and 515k longspan about 10 months ago.= 820k total for materials and labour. Lonspan is anything from N1050 to N1200 per sqm (.45mm)depending on location. Perhaps your surest way to cut down on cost is that you may get a discount of say 2.5 to 5% from longspan suppliers as you become an established customer. Another way is to buy the materials in the name of an already established customer and get a discount. In the past by doing so, I have managed to slash around 50k from longspan cost. May not be big money but in business, such little amounts saved here and there can make a difference to profit margin. You will learn the ropes but initially beware. Monitor your workers well. Artisans overquote everything. Sometimes by up to 30%! One quotation for roofing was once inflated by about 140k for just nogging! |
spyder880: Please lead the way, what is your true age?. Sir Spyder880, The secrecy about health issues among Naija people is terrible. Even in diaspora, when you meet them going about your job, once they know you're Naija, they will deny signs of a disease you can clearly see. Now you are trained to do a job and to help them, but they won't co-operate. But they would readily open up to a white colleague. The only reason I can imagine is that there is no chance of bumping into a white man/woman at an African party! We have to ditch this silly idea of disease being a punishment or a curse from God. A lot of people still believe that. Disease is just natural, especially as we get older in tandem with the environment, genetics etc. |
Mr Kaflex, Can you please send a picture of the land to: pithasmen@yahoo.com Please describe the area and distance from main road and who's selling the land. |
pics and details to: pithasmen@yahoo.com |
So there is a lot of multiple personality disorder here? I thought you only see that at Yaba forward...abi na which side sef? ![]() |
Fact for me is that I don't believe any prediction no matter which source is claimed: dibia/babalawo, alhaji/marabout, pastor, guru. Not that I doubt their ability to "see" the future BUT I just cannot trust the source of their vision. Most are just looking for daily bread and can dabble into various things to acquire that power. Remember the wizard at En-Dor in the Bible who consulted the dead Prophet Samuel for King Saul & Jonathan about the looming war? I try to live by faith and not by sight. I try doing my part and let God do his own. |
BBC News update: Pandemonium broke out among CAF officials (led by Amos Adamu) as Ifyalways of Nairaland TeHn Charity was spotted handing out lacasera, guguru and ekpa to Cape Verde fans in South Africa. CAF officials thought it was brown envelops! |
gulfer: Clap for yourself for the analysis. Do you know brother Johnson's of FUN-TIMES fame; if you did you'll get the sarcasm in my question.. Behind every sarcasm or joke is a subtle expression of belief. So this kind of sarcasm is rather frequent on this forum. |
naikee: I have mailed you 2days ago sir. Maybe I will resend it. Email me via: pithasmen@yahoo.com NOT VIA NL message. |
[quote author=gulfer]Are you |
gulfer: Are you gainfully employed 'there' or are a street sweeper?. Ha ha ha! For starters, street sweepers are gainfully employed and don't do scam to soil our name even further. Assuming a street sweeper earns £6 an hour (I think nobody earns that little these days), and works 10 hours daily for 22 days a month = £1320 Assuming tax & NI deductions amount to 25%, his net income = £990. Not a lot agreed. But he can get around £700 extra as tax credit if he has kids as a matter of right. So total: = £1690 per month. If he's not extravagant, he can put away around £800 monthly = over N200,000. In 5 months he can buy a cheap plot of land in Ikorodu or Badagry. So those of us who spent donkey's years doing degrees here and earn higher (and pay MUCH higher taxes) may not be as thrifty as the street sweeper. While he may not buy land in Lekki (he can around Ibeju-Lekki if he's patient), he can still do tangible things. So the mentality of looking down on people because of their work is silly really. |
phaya: How is this related to NigeriansI live not far from there as do many other Africans. A relative of yours might also be living in the hood! |
naikee: 2 Bedroom flat for SALE at Ogijo in Ikorodu. This Ogijo 2-bed house: What amenities are in this area? How close to a good road? Can you please send more details & pics to: pithasmen@yahoo.com |
gwas: We are selling it!. Thanks. How much would it cost to process C of O? |
sad really. Cos anyway you look at it, it's Africans who are being killed right there. It's a pity that we cannot just live peacefully. |
gwas: Nairalanders. @gwas 1200 sqm, 500k Lugbe plot, who's selling it? I don't live in Abuja, is R of O similar to C of O? Or more like Survey plan? |
Are these 500k Asese plots of Land (Ogun State) still available? Where exactly is Asese? Is it around Ota, Ibafo, Mowe, Simawa via Ikorodu, Shagamu or where? Any discount? What land titles are available? |
brabus: Aluminium Roofing sheet - Lagosagain noted |
brabus: Twyford Toilet/WC (top flush) - 14k (Orile, Lagos)noted |
This Ogijo 2-bed house: What amenities are in this area? How close to a good road? Can you please send more details & pics to: pithasmen@yahoo.com |
While we are it, I am urgently in need of a dagger-proof, boko-proof and kidnap-proof bungalow. Chei, nothing person no go hear for this insecure contr3 where fear is a good sellling point. When people come to inspect the bullet proof house, are you going to use a dane gun or AK47 to shoot the house to see if e go enter? Who will volunteer to be inside the house when you shoot? |
Sprumbaba, you mean duplet as in Chemical bond on musical note? ![]() |
hmm |
Hi Ihebrooke, Good job. I like the 5-bedroom bungalow penthouse that Dasparrow also mentioned. Can you make a more streamlined version of it without thick masonry around it? my email: pithasmen@yahoo.com Please send overall view of it. What's estimated cost of it? If I had seen this design, I might have considered it in my current project. |
coogar: he probably belongs to a gang........ It could have been mistaken identity. A promising Nigeria boy was killed some years ago in Peckham because the killers went to the wrong address. It's only God. The name of the killer sounds as though he's an Asian, that can even make him more likely to mistake one black person for another. A guy busy building his clothing label is far less likely to be a gang member. |
Ogojohn: THE ISSUE OF NEXT OF KIN IS ALWAYS A THORNY ISSUE IN OUR SOCIETY. BUT MY ADVICE IS WHEN IN DOUBT CONSULT A LAWYER. THE ISSUES THAT AROSE ON THE DANA AIRWAYS CLASH IS A CASE STUDY. SOME FAMILIES WERE DIVIDED OVER WHO IS THE NEXT OF KIN OF THERE DISEASED ONE.WIFE AGAINST SIBLINGS AND PARENTS AGAINST WIFE. MIND YOU. THIS IS NO LONGER BANK WHERE YOU WRITE DOWN YOUR NEXT OF KIN.OK HERE WHO DETERMINES THE NEXT OF KIN. WITHOUT KNOWING. ALL OF THEM ARE NEXT OF KIN AND ARE QUALIFIED FOR COMPENSATION. WHEN YOU DON'T CONSULT A LAWYER ON AVIATION MATTERS AND INSURANCE YOU WOULDN'T KNOW AND YOU WILL BE CHEATED OUT. SO ON THIS MATTER. THE FATHER,THE MOTHER.THE WIFE,THE CHILDREN AND ALL THE IMMEDIATE BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF THE DISEASED ARE ALL QUALIFIED AS NEXT OF KIN AND ARE QUALIFIED TO BE PAID COMPENSATION. THIS IS A FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE AND A REAL LIFE TALE. SO NEXT OF KIN DEPENDS ON THE CIRCUMSTANCE.. Maybe that's because our judiciary is weak AND because people don't always respect/obey legal pronouncements. Inheritance law is very clear in most organised societies about who takes preference if a person dies intestate. Of course a will can be contested in court BUT that's a different matter altogether. |
nath01: hello my people.....there was great argument in my office yesterday on who should be next of kin.one party believe that it should be one's child and another party said it should be one's spouse.what is your own contribution to this as per the correct one.comments are welcome..... Next of kin is not necessarily the same as "legal heir". That is clearly defined depending on jurisdiction. In your place of work if you work say in an oil rig, skycraper construction, pilot, truck driver or any potentially hazardous job, it makes no sense to make your 3 year old son or your granny suffering from Azheimer's your next of kin. In fact it should be somebody who can make a decision in your best interest if you become incapacitated. It's not same as the person to inherit your wealth. That should be sorted in your will or if you die intestate, most jurisdictions would make your heirs in descending order: Spouse, children, your parents, blood sliblings etc. It is just that you would normally make your heir your next of kin also BUT they are not always synonymous. |
@Op, you sef you get mind o. A girl of say 22 or 23 dating a 34 year old baby daddy, at least one DNA test behind him, multiple fb IDs with a strange lady as profile pic. You playing detective and further eroding trust. He's a comfortable and already made guy ni? Well, if you have the stomach for more drama, ride on babe. If not take a pause and take proper stock. Don't be blinded by sentiments, just consider cold facts objectively. Good luck. |
Ol' boy, rename your handle to A.T.M or Mega-Maga! Ehhen, this economic recession didn't reach your side o. ON A SERIOUS NOTE You cannot buy a girl's love with money and lavish gifts. That's how it would appear even though you only wanted show you care. If a girl thinks you want to please her by any means, she'll begin to shakara. Can such a girl stick to you if (God forbid) you suddenly lose your source of income? I doubt. She's not your wife. So wise up. That you buy her expensive gifts doesn't mean she cannot be....nyanshing.....one handsome church rat on the side (not saying she does). Find out if the reason she's with you is just for the gifts or if she really loves you. YOU can do so by complaining that business is not moving or that you had to take a huge paycut to just keep your job and see her action. |
