PoliticsRe: 12 Shocking Facts About Nigeria by MacLovington(m):
paduskinosa: there was an error with the Edo fact, it is not a wall, it is a moat built to protect the then Benin kingdom.
.

Dude are you an Archeologist with experience in Benin moats excavation?

The fortresses surrounding Benin were two. The inner wall/rampart/moat and the outer wall/rampart/moat.

The inner wall/rampart and moats encircled the new palace, old Ogiso palace, Ogbe/ palace chiefs Quarters and Town chiefs' quarters. The outer wall encircled Uzebu/Ezomo, Oliha, Ero, Oloton Quarters etc. Edaiken/Crown prince's and Queen Mother's quarters were outside the outer wall/rampart and moat. And there is logic/history behind these locations.

The walls were very high so that even if you managed to climb it to jump inside, you will find yourself inside a moat which were a few story buildings deep in places.

Considering that the walls were built with sand and clay (not stone or mortar), rain washed it down, others were used to build houses by natives post-1897, of course also war destruction in 1897.

They were not built overnight. Estimate is that they were built from about 800AD (Ogiso Era era) to about 1450AD (Oba Ewuare The Great era).
If you were around in the 1970s, you would have seen both the moat and wall remnants at Iyaro. Another good place to see it was near Edo College even in the 1980s.

If our women want to be taken seriously and respected by men and not seen as an object or a trophy, they've got to start reducing their financial demands on men.

He who pays the piper dictates the tune.

Some men think they reserve the right to batter/overly control their babe because they sponsor her. This may be a warped idea BUT women can avoid it by being more contented with what they have.

If you just appear materialistic and superficial, men may just tolerate you but certainly don't respect you.
Anyway, I mostly dated non-Naija/African ladies so the concept of women just demanading dough is almost alien to me now.

[quote author=carbon1224]Like I said the Imota @250k has no light guarantee due to no nepa polls but aleke and isiu is light guarantee.
You can't everything all the requirement all together at the same time but if you really want land in gberigbe with light and a little developed then you would get it not lesser than 1.1m but I won't advise you to get land from gbogbo bayeku cos you might run into aquisation lands or swampy lands.I strongly advise you get a land at aleke outside very close to the express.I only have 1 left which is 900k net or isiu but if you want just a plot of land then I will implore you to get it at alake which I can assure 100% no wahala.I don't like to deal with gbogbo land cos of the omo onile issue but aleke and isiu I can assure you of security, dry land, light and people leaving there as well and you can come for inspection if you want.

Thanks. I will reflect on it.

carbon1224: You can always get a land @lowest price of 900k on igbogbo free land but I don't have stocks in igbogbo but you can always get it in a good area like, aleke free land and isiu free land and ITO as well.its better you buy a free land @ a reasonable price than buying an aquisation land at a cheaper price.you can get something more cheaper in IMota @ 250k.
.

Thanks a lot. The Imota @250k plots you have, I assume they are far inside without light?
Do you have any on your brief in Gberigbe, Isanwo, Baiyeku etc?
As for the plots in Aleke, Isiu and ITO,do you have any in these areas? How much is a standard plot (60 x120)? And light, road condition in raining season etc?

A bit more than 500k is ok if there are people already living there, no encumberances, there's light, dry flat land and the road is fairly ok.

Thanks for your public service. I have had some agents show us land deep in Ogun state claiming Ikorodu!

They even show you land far different from the ones they advertise.

Which areas of Ikorodu not far from the proposed new bridge to the Island can one get plots of free land(not under acquisition/court dispute) under 500k?

How is the situation (acquisition) in Igbogbo, Imota, Lucky Fibre,Laspotech area etc?

HealthRe: Woman Delivered Of 25 Months Pregnancy - Miracle Working God by MacLovington(m):
MAYOWAAK: The longer they remain in the womb, the higher the risks of placenta insufficiency (that effectively starves them of nutrients and oxygen), infections and demise. This risks get considerably high by 4 weeks post-date such that even the most optimistic obstetrician would induce labour or deliver the baby by Caesarian section. So, when a clown comes around to tell us she was pregnant for 25 months. We have every right to get angry for attempting to insult our sensibilities. Before even the 11th month, the foetus would have died, become macerated, and caused grave complications like overwhelming sepsis, diseminated intravascular coagulopathy etc in the mother. Without serious intervention, even the mother would be no more. Don't swallow all I have said cos I am no authority in this field. Verify with the aim of finding faults. I am a learner too. But certain things are stupid even to an apprentice.
Chai! Noffing pesin will not hia in this obodo Naija.

How stupid do they take 170m people to come up with this cock and bull story?

My brother, We hardly leave gestation beyond 41 weeks. By 40 + 5, even the most optimistic obstetrician will want to induce except every possible thing that can go wrong has been well checked. This is even in a centre with world class neonatal facilities, with profs here writing books on neonatology used worldwide. Some over 75% of 24 weekers pull through and thrive.

Abeg let them explain where dem get the baby. I no fit shout.
Christianity EtcRe: Do Humans Have The Ability To Bless Or Curse Others? by MacLovington(m):
I think it's more like " vox populi vox Dei". The voice of the people is the voice of God.

If the Curse of a man happens to be sanctioned by God or higher powers, such a curse can become efficacious.

But if God is still giving the sinner the chance to repent, the evildoer might think curses don't work.

Take an armed robber who attacks people at home at night and violate married women. He may continue for sometime BUT get caught one day and hanged later.

His former co-violator who stopped robbery and become a good person might totally escape the curse after dedicating his life to God.

To go from Naija to her level no easy.

Whether super or mega model, she's one of the only few we have.

Anybody can marry whoever they want. Marrying a foreigner doesn't make her less Naija or Igbo.

Who knows, her kids may go on to be big people in their father's country tomorrow. Then we will all happily claim them to be Naija.

PoliticsRe: A Letter To Nigerians In Diaspora by MacLovington(m): 1:04am On Feb 14, 2013
Whenever Nigerians are ready to roll up their sleeves and face nation building squarely, they will. Now we don't have the political leadership. We've not really had one at the national level. The closest we've had was Buhari/Idiagbon regime. Abacha did his own in his "rayban" way but he stole too much. SW had one in Awo.

Seeing how NID help to run efficient and functional systems as civil servants, doctors, lawyers, IT gurus, scientists etc, It give me hope that someday, we will get there. Don't ask me when.
PoliticsRe: A Letter To Nigerians In Diaspora by MacLovington(m): 12:33am On Feb 14, 2013
I wonder how somebody that probably considers himself educated can generalise like this.

I don't personally know of any NID who has not taken his kids home to visit his/her parents/family.
People like Awo & Zik who helped to secure our independence got inspired to do so in diaspora.

Has it ever occured to you that NID have seen that you can achieve a lot with little resources and ingenuity (as their hosts have managed to do) and are seriously pained that we're wasting valuable time?

And by the way, does being an NID mean that you longer have freedom of expression?
