I lost a blackberry inside a London bus. I rang and the person picked. An Asian/possibly Pakistani voice. He did as if he wasn't hearing me properly. Then switched off. End of story. As a student in Europe, a girl forgot a nice mobile phone on the computer desk. i found it and kept an eye on it. She called the phone. On hearing a blackman's voice (she was one of those Europe-born blacks), she seemed to panic. I said come to computer room and collect it. She rang again over 4 times in the next 15 minute (perhaps to check if turned off). She came running and sweating and I said, hey you are the one who forgot the phone. I said can you call the number again for me. She did and I said it's yours. Come and and see the surprise on her face. She thanked me effusively. They are usually brainwashed to even hate their fellow blacks/Africans. 21 years ago here in Europe, a very nice, religious Igbo guy (religion had a meaning then) found a portfolio full of Swiss Francs, Deutch Marks, French Francs, Pound Sterling and Dollars in a phone booth. The total was about 790,000 French francs (roughly £79,000). He returned it all to La Poste (where you traditionally returned lost and found goods of value, apart from the police). He even refused to leave his details to avoid been traced for a reward. He didn't want to go the police because you cannot refuse to tell the police your identity/details. In any case, the friendly policemen in the nearby commisariat knew all of us as they used to pop in for a chat with people in the neighbourhood. Some people advised him to just return to Naija with the money........he was in his 40s... with several kids and a wife in Naija. He just laughed and said the devil is a liar. Anyone who labels Nigerians as generally dishonest people must be a bigot. Nigerians are not more dishonest than other people of comparable level of development. |
emmatok: What is special about talking to a friend 2-3 hours every weekend.. Emmatok, He does so every evening every day and also weekend. If a thief admits stealing a line of yam, you will know that a whole barn is finished. This man probably talks a lot longer. |
Oga at The Top Oluwaseun, Please introduce a "dislike" button. There are too many annoying comments here. This shows that we're heading for more divorces in the future. A lot of men here simply don't know that the wife (every wife) needs attention. This Op will not even notice that his wife has a new hairstyle or that she's wearing a sexy dress specially for him in the evening. The woman is feeling unloved, unimportant and undesired. End of. |
deda: Pls can we have that of union bank. Thank u so much. Union bank sir. |
ume: Even when i dont wish her bad i will advise that she should tell her hobby to build a world class hospital in case of emagency. How dem go come take know rich man/woman if every Sikiru, Nwangbo and Halima is getting world class medical care in Naija? How will they have the chance to do Owambe thanksgiving at Aso Rock? |
Adanyebe: PATIENCE JONATHAN SHOULD PRAY HARD ABOUT HER HEALTH CONDITION.... SHE SHOULD THINK OF OBASANJO AND STELLA, YAR'ADUA AND TURAI. You forget Abacha & Miryam? Abi na "dividend of democracy" deaths alone you mean? Anyway Miryam own no matter too much afterall she said she will never be wretched & poverty-stricken like Dangote. ![]() |
Great Analysis. Can you please do one for Union Bank? |
lordweezy: now listen a woman or no woman was there @the beginning beta divorce her if she can't accept u for who u n ur friend ar.jus barely 5yrs or less n she is been bossy then if you leave her tomorrow she will send you to wash her dish, pants and undies and if you don't she would threaten to divorce. Are you married at all? Marriage is a sacred union BUT friendship with a mate is NOT. Nobody is promised a perfect wife/husband so you must make the most of whoever God gives you. But this poster is basically neglecting his wife. Ignoring your wife for 2 hours every evening 7 days/week is childish/selfish whatever the lady's flaws might be. Tak-tak-tak in the bedroom after hours of physical and emotional coldness cannot redeem it. OP should honestly ask himself the BASIS of the marriage in the first place. Love, lust, family pressure, my-buddy-don-marry-I-too-must-marry? |
purposeDiva: I'll b frank if ℓ̊ say the OP doesn't need our advice @al. From all I've read so far aπϑ his responses, he already has α̇̇ set solution; letting his wife go! Then I'll say he's not ready for marriage if this is Ð réason he'll send his wife packing. Also if his frnd loves aπϑ cares for him as much as he claims here, den such α̇̇ frnd shldnt allow himself be d cos of his best frnd's broken home. Sm advisers b sincere! Wat r̶̲̥̅̊ they always talking abt for 2hrs EVERYDAY. My Dear abeg help me ask o. Does he even have time to read bedtime story to his kid/kids? Does it mean he doesn't have anything to talk to his wife about? What about just sitting together on the sofa to watch a programme, laugh together, etc? Spending some quality time with your wife is part of marital duties these days. |
manuell1021: Dis thread is gettin out of hands o. K, we don hear una, both countries re one of d best countries in Africa, they both represent Africa in +ve & -ve way(s). Dey re both influential. Pls kids, find sumtin else 2 do.. You no tire......supposed grown ups comapring their mannliness/womanliness in the open to see which is bigger/juicier. ![]() |
abdulkayus: C dem, rattlin up and down and abusin tribes. USA dont wan to knw weather dey are Yoruba or iGbo or anytin. All wat dey knw is dat dey are Nigerians. D bad image is on us all. Even d middlebelters and d north dat are nt known for international crimes are all in dis shit 2geda cos we are call Nigerians.Mutallab and lootocratic politicians from up North, are those not international criminals? Or you think crime is only when White people are the victims? |
Na these kind guys dey come drive 2013 Range Rover Sport for Las Gidi. We wey dey come manage Jallopy 2004 Toyota 4 x4 will be looking very silly in comparison. People at home don't see that we have to work for our every farthing. God we dey your hand o. |
sheedy407: I neva see EDO STATE name steal bfor or fraud.we are just the best in Nigeria. Edo people may have strong eye (not surprising being historical warriors and need strong eye to survive Naija) but generally the Edos navigate things carefully. Of course now and then you see one doing rugged stuff here are there. |

adconline: But their families are God's greatest creatures to ever walk the planet earth!. You see they grew up with their family and are sure of their love and goodwill. Of in-laws they can't be so sure. Just human nature. |
OP, The advise you have got here so far is worth a million dollars. Good friends are like stars. You know they are there BUT you may not see them often. Also perhaps you don't understand women that much. As it stands, your lady feels like she's only second in the pecking order of your life. Your mate is the first. Now no woman wants to be no.2. Talking to your mate daily is not necessary, let alone for 2 hours. What in the name of pete are you discussing? It is disrespectful to her. When do you even have time to romance her? Calling a meeting of both families is immature. Why expose your wife to such embarassment? Don't you think that could reduce your wife's person in the eyes of your friend? You have a duty to protect her pride as a wife. |
coogar: the so-called respect is shrouded by hypocrisy...... Opinions are repressed in Naija due to seniority. This repression can find release in many unpleasant ways such as cultism where at least you find equality of sorts. Not to mention other vices. |
Yes Yobo's is not the Yobo of 7 years ago. But even if you want to ease him out of Super Eagles AT LEAST CALL THE GUY AND explain the situation. He might disagree but at least he would have discussed it with Keshi. |
Billyonaire: I just read it now. Its not scam now. I hardly see poor people around.. In your swanky palace flanked by the other 39 laptop lapdogs, where are going to see poor people? Maybe you should visit Okomaiko and Ajegunle area. |
50calibre: Don't use your hands to fetch firewood infested with maggot. If you harbour a married woman, be prepared for the ramifications that comes with it.. Gbam! I once harbored a friend's girlfriend when she lost her flat. My friend (before he moved to another country due to work) begged me to help her anytime she needs help. Ol'boy, it nearly turned disaster. This girl wanted to become my babe. It became so embarassing to me. I couldn't tell my friend because she might out of scorn claim that I wanted to seduce her. In such situations, we naturally believe a woman's version. I would stay away from my house and come back very late. Only to see her waiting...that she cooked a nice meal. I told her many times NOT to cook for me. To no avail. I'd go to bed hungry saying I already had food outside. After a while, she reduced her interest a bit. Soon after I bumped into her in town holding hands with a guy! I was relieved. Normally I should be angry seeing her cheat on my friend. She came back home very LATE that night. I was the one waiting for her now. She wanted to apologise for what happened earlier that day and I said "hey, don't worry. My friend said I should help you, he didn't say I should spy on you". She knelt down to thank me. I never told my friend, they never met again for many years and both went on to marry other people. Sorry for the epistle. DON'T ACCOMMODATE HER except you have already decided to make her your babe. If you have a good female friend, let her go and stay with her. |
sweetcheecks: Really? I just replied to someone who attacked me get your glasses mate.. My Dear I am referring to Mondi-cheeks and everyone else too. Sweetcheeks, I don't know if you are South African. But we loved South Africa back in Naija in those days of apartheid. In 1993, I met a South African guy who lived in Naija previously for many years studying on Nigeria scholarship. He moved from there to Europe to do his PhD. We were instantly like brothers. He left soon after to join politics in SA. I am really shocked at e-fights here. Maybe fighting is part of love. I can see why those gorgeous SA girls can't have enough of Naija boys! Someday, a Naija boy (from mixed marriage) will become SA president. Then you will see that the marriages were not just for papers. President Chukwuka Okafor. Lol. |
I said marrying wit the intention of getting a green card so that one cannot be deported out of SA...this is far from marrying a person for the right reason...its frauduently marrying someone to seek an advantage that is unlawful
. Are you in their hearts to know? Much of it is based on discrimination. Just because some Nigerians do it/or did it DOES NOT mean all nigerians do it. Do you call every south African a murderer because some South Africans killed Lucky Dube or the bride on honeymoon from UK? Here in UK people of different nationalities are caught doing it at the marriage registry. The more stringent residence conditions are and the higher the population of that country, the higher the number of people who might do it. That's my observation here following the media. |
Sweetcheeks/mondi-cheeks, please refrain from personal attack. It is normal to have different opinions. |
a choice which the forever diminishing economy has forced them to make I presume...either way, Nigerians are doing the same thing in foreign countries
.Well where I studied, we had about 40 nationalities on my course, a lot of them on scholarship amounting to about £150,000, being a very long course. S. Koreans, Australians, Japanese, French, Americans, Germans,HK, Singaporeans, Indians, Swedes, Chinese, Kiwis, one white South African girl and of course UK citizens etc. Now these are not exactly from poverty-stricken countries. I also work with many from these countries. Irrespective of qualification/employment type, those from white countries are called expats while Africans, Asians are called immigrants by default even those born in UK (which of course people don't know). |
Ol' boy/girl don't be ignorant of your history. Have you ever heard of Harold Smith? Google it if you haven't. Our leaders have been puppets in their hands even after independence. Any Afro-centric leader never stayed long in power, Buhari, Murtala Mohammed. Didn't you see the wikileak releases on how our elite pass every information to them? Considering the many challenges we have faced, we have done reasonably well. Could be much better of course. You must have a level of internal cohesion to develop fast. That's why white ZA developed fast during apartheid. The ethno-religious problem we face now began at Berlin Conference and worsened due to 1914. In a non-cohesive society, you start to hear things like federal character instead of emphasis on merit. Imagine a country where Fashola can be a president easily based on merit. |
last time I checked Nigerians have been moving out of Nigeria to the countries where "white people are dominent" and a lot of them on NL seem to brag about it too...same thing
.At least it is by choice and they are doing great and investing back home. You guys seem to be angry at just about everyone, perhaps because of your history. |
sheyie2007: Even if nigeria's economy becomes the best in the world people will travel out... are you a learner? Go check the percentage of americans travelling out every year, you'd be stunned!. Correct and why shouldn't they travel? But far less will travel blindly. I travel a lot even to countries I'd never even consider living in. It is those who travel blindly who mostly get into trouble that foreign media focus on. How many times have you heard of bad coverage about Chima Adichie, Hakeem Olajuwon or my humble self doing an honest job in diaspora? |
kgr28: eina!shyt I am a South African, i mean i have never heared any nigerian song except, flavour with that song nwa baby remix( SA influance in that song SoulCandy records), oliver twist( us influence)beautiful onyinye( us influance) played on any radio stations or tv stations(sabc or etv), as for movies crap!! What can i say, south africans dont watch that crap afrimagic crap, we have better tv programmes to watch i mean public tv stations, not dstv, we have better tv content that nigeria!!! House, kwaito,sa hip hop, rock, rave, pop, afrikaans musik, traditional music, jazz, that SA music dickkhead well supported in SA, Zim,Namib,Moz,Bots!! So whats your fvcking story!! I dont knw shyt bout nigerian movies or music!! The same way sa music and mo vies are not showing in nigeria, know that its the same here!!!. Keep making money for your white masters and brag about. Whatever level of development we have, it's truly African. Just because you guys get a better media coverage because Western powers like the Bore Mach and pseudo Bore Mach in charge of your economy doesn't mean the average black South African can brag about anything. Not knowing something about other people is a form of ignorance and nothing to shout about. From your hate-filled diatribe, you seem like someone who would chase other Africans down the street with a machete. |
I think most African countries recognise Nigeria as "Father Christmas". They get cash, cheap oil, use our soldiers as cannon fudder in the name of peacekeeping. We should worry less about influence BUT grow our economy so that less of our people travel blindly. USA is powerful not because of nuclear weapon, that's 2 a penny now. Even fatboy Kim probably has it. It is it's massive domestic market. |
Speaking about Influential, Nigeria is far more influential in several countries in and out of Africa. How many Marrying SA women for a green card seems very popular amongst West African men. Yes I will agree wit you Nigeria is involved(pretty much in a lot of negative things)...but I wouldn't say its dominant/influential/prominent
' A country with a large population like Naija is bound to have many of its citizens travelling irrespective of economic situation. If economy is not brilliant more will travel blindly, that's the difference. We all recognise China & India as the next big thing but each of them must have over 25 million citizens outside their shores. You fall in love with people in your environment. Nigerians in ZA cannot be marrying people in Honolulu! Even e-love can't do that. |
good news but that price high....a bi dem dey follow David Alechenu Mark idea of "Telephone is not for poor people" mantra? Health too no be for poor people? |
