U don't understand religion at all. That's why u talk lyk dat. And are u comparing religion to a computer set? That's totally wrong.

Every program u load on a computer will only work on it "if and only if" it is compartible. U can't load a 64-bit software on a 32-bit system, u won't load windows 8 software on a system dat's windows XP, etc...That's showing u a flaw in ur own example.

The religions don't ve d same root. They don't ve d same beliefs. Not d same holy books. So u can't jst switch btwn them.

Jesus has sent we his followers out to preach d gospel to all. That takes care of the buddhists, d muslims, etc. The ultimate thing I wanna tell u is dat "Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can get to God except tru Christ"
Peace be unto you...
Every little child is compatible to any religion
when he gets old it becomes difficult to evaluate and decide the authenticity of his religion because he is emotional attached to it

Why would we not place our culture as inferior after hundreds of years of colonialism.
Actually before colonialism, Africans have accepted Islam and christianity in large numbers, killing themselves over different religions and betraying their people, colonialism was jst icing on the already prepared cake

It does not necessarily follow that the adoption of religion is always due to being conquered and enslaved.
There may be other reasons. I can speculate that perhaps all it requires is for a very influential African leader to convert to Islam and spread his influence.
I never said adopting foreign religion is due to enslavement..whether physically enslaved or not it's a sign of mental slavery to adopt a foreign religion that has nothing to do with ur race or ethnicity, it's totally wrong..u have jst placed ur culture as inferior

Even worse is when you drop your meaningful, historical African name and in exchange take a vain name of a foreign culture.

But a correction about worship. They did not bring a new God, for Christianity. They just introduced a new way of worship. You would note the name of the supreme/Creator God acknowledged by Africans remained the same in all tribes.

I once attended an ancestral worship religion? Creepy, esp when they start addressing the dead directly.
And wats wrong with addressing the dead? Many movements are underway on the possibility of using modern technology to communicate with the dead

yh u right, African spiritual philosophies aren't respected by the larger population of Africans so it's very difficult as priests aren't given a voice

Winsh. Aje is actually jinns. Its the source of powers of witches and spiritualists.
The elder (agba) I interacted with was literally also elderly and was titled. he was also learned. I doubt if any of you online could have a fraction of the knowledge he had of ibile.
The white ajes or jinns actually do go to heaven to liase with angels and take prayers to them to. I actually really did found the whole thing fascinating before but my problem with traditional worship is that they don't worship the creator but praise deities.
Just know that the forces that operate in this world are mostly jinns. They however have various level of powers. They have male or females too; like the ako and abo ifa. Ifa is basically white jinns.
Good finally a reasonable person answers me
U nt exactly correct tho
Aje are spirits that can be manipulated by anyone through ordinary prayer
Witches themselves are possessed with Aje of the black energy (black doesn't mean evil) but I don't see any similarity with ur Arabic Jinns

Your know nothing of Yoruba traditions and spirituality. We honor the creator which we call Olodumare, Olodumare is made manifest through these deities, you can't get all of Olodumare in one place, it's only in bits, this bits are the Irunmole (sometimes mythically as Orisha), wat do u think the white Aje represent? It represents Obatala or is it Ori? Sorry am nt sure
But my point is Obatala created humans and Ori holds human(actually all things nt jst humans) destiny and spiritual prowess
I have seen places where Obatala is referred as the owner of human Ori until u get initiated into another cult
So am a little confused on the white aje, but am sure it's nt Ifa

Perhaps the curious feature about this cultural expression, is that the youth side-lock is strictly an African custom, and the fact that the ancient Egyptians shared with Africans south of the Sahara this custom, is significant.

Does the fact that some Africans adopted Islam automatically mean that Arabs conquered Africa? I think not. If adoption of religion is proof that a nation is conquered then why did India and Arabs countries that were ruled by Britain not adopt Christianity?

Stop letting these European Devils write our history for us.

And whenever there is anything in our ancient history that is positive, then they would ascribe that to Arabs or to themselves rather than giving our ancestors the credit.

You just make sweeping unsubstantiated statements backed by no evidence other than the facts that some parts of Africa practise Islam.

I've been opportuned to interact with an elder some years back and what is called Aje in yoruba is the one who possess these jins that carry out their wish.

You are wrong there has been proof presented in this very thread that Africans had a writing system before the arrival of the European. But you say it was introduced to Africa by Arabs , so what? All that matters is that we had a system of recording our own history.

Even your claim that those ancient Afirican writing system were introduced by Arabs is without any foundation. Nobody has provided any evidence that Arabs ever conquered any part of Africa.
I never said African didn't have writing system...of course we did, I only claim we had nothing on history.
but u looking for African written source devoid of caucasian influence to back up the general belief that Africans were into slavery long before caucasians came..this u can't get

Arabs did conquer Africa, through Islam. As the Islamic religion spread so did Arab culture

Yh I know all this. The issue is, there's no known script written in any African writing system on history before the arrival of caucasians
Without this the OP has said any other thing doesn't count

ROSSIKE:
You think like a cow. So the fact that you are typing in English now means that whatever you are writing is influenced by the English people or by whites? Is Arabic itself not a derivation from ancient African hieroglyphs? Does the Meroitic script of Nubia not predate the Arabic script by nearly 3,000 years? When the mighty Sphinx at Giza was being built by black Africans 10,000 years ago using advanced mathematics, geometry, and hieroglyphs, did Arabs exist? Who really taught who? I mean, I really don't know where to start with you. You know nothing yet you keep coming here to proclaim black inferiority as if you were cursed or something. As for ''the Malian records speak of slavery'', that's another piece of gloriously inane dross. WHAT RECORDS ON EARTH do not ''speak of slavery'' from the bible and koran to the Sanskrit texts and the Egyptian Book of the Dead, plus a thousand other works? The word slave itself is derived from the European word slav. Slavery was the NORM across the entire globe for thousands of years up till just a couple of centuries ago, so why on earth would ''the Malian records'' not ''speak of slavery''? Really, you have issues.
It's ur father that is a cow olosi. You never stick to one argument do u? Always running around as it suits u
You as an active supporter of the OP, you asked for evidence of slavery in Africa without any white influence, I replied Africa has no written records of history before the caucasians came...you then talk of Timbuktu scripts which shows how dumb and stuupid you are for supporting the OP in the first place
1. Timbuktu manuscripts are Arabic-. the OP, which u support, has already stated to do away with historical records involving white man's influence. Any thing written in non-African language is made up and not authentic evidence according to the OP's logic
2. The same Timbuktu library has scripts speaking of slavery in Africa by Africans

So why support the OP on his claim that slaves weren't sold but caucasians forcefully took Africans into slavery? That is wat I want to know
Here's ur previous post

The op actually raised a very good point, by
highlighting the rarely acknowledged fact that
the story we get about slavery is actually the
white man's account. I'm not aware of any
African derived historical accounts - written
or oral - which state categorically that
Africans sold slaves to the whites. It is books
written by foreigners that make this claim.
How do we know they're telling the truth? Do
we actually trust them to tell the truth, and if
so, why?
Why would a ship armed with cannon and
mortar stop at a coastal village and look to
buy anything when they could simply order
the local king or chiefs to supply a given
number of young adults or face instant
annihilation?
