ajl: Great point. We are often led by morons. A propaganda war across west africa by Nigeria is enough to make France pack their bags and leave for Paris. But I also sense that these Francophone countries leaders would willingly sell themselves to France rather than remain under the economic domination of another African country, Nigeria. The black man is weak minded. I suppose if the leaders in these Francophone countries are women, the story will be different. It depends on how you frame the propaganda. The black man everywhere, Nigeria inclusive, is likely to sell himself/herself to the white man because we are conditioned to believe that white is right; white is better; black is inferior. However, when you frame the narrative around France's destructive colonial and post-colonial invasions of Africa, about how France ensures that she dominates the black man, Francophone Africa will begin to think. Recently, Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao the Permanent Representative of the African Union Mission to the United States was removed through the influence of France via their assets in the AU. I am not sure that Francophone Africans, the ordinary citizens, are aware that this brave woman was removed because she used her voice in demanding France stops its neocolonial order in Africa. Tell the Francophone citizens this and they will begin to see France in different lights. France's current military intervention in Mali and Central African Republic are sustained on propaganda. Nigeria needs to own the narrative and not allow a foriegn invader do so. Nigeria led by a serious President would have sorted out France's excesses easily as we have (1) the geographical advantage and (2) the advantage of being blacks too. |

dre11: https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/why-france-kidnapped-west-africas-eco-currency.html France is part of the foriegn interests fueling and sustaining Boko Haram in Nigeria's Northern region. They have pursued an aggressive anti-Nigeria colonialist stand since Nigeria was invited and succeded in dislodging terrorists from West African Mali under the previous GEJ government. It was rumoured that it shocked France to the marrows as they were expecting Mali to ask France to provide military support. Unfortunately, Nigeria is saddled with a regime that does not understand geopolitics and is more focused on dividing its citizens across tribes. Else, dealing with France's influence in West Africa is easy as Nigeria. Just correctly demonise the French as white colonialists and remind West Africans of what they did to Sankara, etc. There is no reason why, like in East and Southern Africa, Nollywood films aren't filling the TV screens in our Francophone neighbours. This is what is called "soft power" in international relations studies. Win the battle of the heart and mind and others will follow. |

The fact that he adopted Edwin Clark as his father does not make him a complete Ijaw man. "This is the new narrative they want to push to counter any challenge for Igbo Presidency. 1. That Jonathan, a full-fledged Ijaw man from Bayelsa is actually from the South East. (Notice that he does not give the state this South Eastern Jonathan is from) 2. That Jonathan was adopted by Edwin Clarke in order to pretend that he is an Ijaw man. 3. That Jonathan, whose parents named him Azikiwe after Nnamdi Azikiwe, was actually named Azikiwe because he is from the South East. I suspect this false, denigrating, insulting downright silly propaganda must have come from Nasir El Rufai's team. They are excellent with manufacturing falsehoods. And pushing it as "truth". But this time around, Nigerians are prepared and waiting for them. |

Politics › Re: Garba Shehu: Buhari’s Cabal Aren’t Hungry People, They Are Respectable Nigerians by madridsta007(m): 9:31pm On Dec 26, 2019*. Modified: 11:12am On Dec 27, 2019 |
Ecstasy154: Members of the ‘cabal’ in the presidency are not hungry individuals and do not deserve the public criticism they get, a presidential aide has said.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, also said it was improper to refer to the president’s advisers as a ‘cabal’ and it is not true that they influence critical decisions of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
Mr Shehu made this known while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today, on Christmas day.
Many Nigerians including the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, have said that there is a cabal of people who influence decisions taken by Mr Buhari and the presidency.
The men said to be members of the cabal include a relative of the president, Mamman Daura; an associate of the president, Isa Funtua; and the Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari.
Mrs Buhari has at several instances accused the men of controlling her husband.
She also recently accused Mr Shehu of receiving instructions from the cabal to the detriment of her husband and his immediate family. She asked him to resign or be relieved of his position.
Mr Shehu has refused to join words with the first lady but on Wednesday denied that the cabal members have a sinister motive.
He said contrary to the false belief that the cabal manipulates the president, ”they are respectable Nigerians who deserve respect because they have achieved a lot.”
“A lot of people who are being dragged into this cabal thing, they are respectable Nigerians who have achieved a lot for themselves and for the nation. They are not there as hungry people who are there to grab things for themselves,” he said.
He also said Nigerians should not brand persons close to President Buhari who have offered to serve the nation as members of a ‘cabal.’
“Nigerians have formed the practice by labeling people that are in some advisable positions of the president as a cabal.
“People (cabals) should not be labelled negatively simply because they have offered themselves to support the president of this country,” he said.

Politics › Re: Sowore, Dasuki: Garba Shehu Angry Over Media Reports, May Appeal Case by madridsta007(m): 10:32am On Dec 25, 2019 |
agentakins: The Presidency has condemned some international news outlets ascribing the detention and release of the Convener of Revolution Now, Omoyele Sowore, to journalism.
Malam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said Sowore was detained and later released on bail today by the Department of State Service (DSS) not due to his work as a journalist but because he called for a revolution to overthrow the democratically elected government of Nigeria.
Shehu made the clarification in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.
The presidential aide, therefore, frowned at those ascribing his detention and release to his job as a journalist.
The statement read in part: “The Presidency wishes to clarify the release on bail of the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the February 2019 elections, Omowale Sowore
“Some international news outlets have mistakenly been describing his release as that of a journalist.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Buhari administration has never, since coming into office in 2015, detained a journalist, seized copies of newspapers or shut down a medium of information.
“Sowore called for a revolution to overthrow the democratically elected government of Nigeria. He did so on television, and from a privileged position as the owner of a widely read digital newspaper run from the United States of America.
“He founded an organisation, Revolution Now, to launch, in their own words, “Days of Rage”, with the publicised purpose of fomenting mass civil unrest and the elected administration’s overthrow.
“No government will allow anybody to openly call for destabilization in the country and do nothing.
“The government believes strictly in observing the rule of law but must safeguard public security and will not allow trouble makers to incite the public and cause a breakdown of law and order.’’
Also, the presidential aide disclosed that Federal Government may appeal against the court judgments that granted bails to the former National Security Adviser, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki and Convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore.
Malam Garba Shehu stated this in an interview with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday while reacting to the presidential directive on the release of Dasuki and Sowore.
He said that the decision by the Nigerian government to release the affected persons on bail was informed by the need to observe the rules of the law.
“Not withstanding the right of the government which are very clear to it under the constitution of Nigeria to appeal this order for their release, to the Court of Appeal in fact to follow the entire judicial process leading up to the Supreme Court.
“The government has decided, as an important lesson, that compliance to the rule of law of the court of the land is important, government is asking them to go, is releasing them.
“The processes of their trials will continue and the government will be using the same process to assert its right also appealing the terms and conditions under which the court said they should be released.
“However, the President wants an important lesson to be taught in the country – this is that – `we will obey the order and they will be let go and the processes will go.”

After keeping Sowore in detention for months after he had met his bail conditions. This regime is feeling the heat taken by some now converted members of the media and millions of Nigerians. He will still remain Major General Buhari and this administration will continually be referred to as a regime It is only a regime that ORDERS the release of civilians that have been declared freed on legal bail terms by the Courts. Sadly, they and their apologists can’t see the irony! Nigerians should thank the US for their pressure. Without it, those two Nigerians would still be in jail. Let me tell you one way of responding with respect to international relations "We have seen the comments and the designation by the United States which we deeply regret.
