One more thing---my friends and I were discussing the other day how many of these Nigerian musicians now relish using mainly white or mixed-race models in their videos, as if it's a status thing. And now the OP has proven to us that many Nigerian don't think their female counterparts are good enough undecided. BULL!!!
LiteratureRe: Untitled by maedan(op): 2:14am On Oct 05, 2009

For those seriously following the story, (and not those who came to use here as a battleground) I'm putting finishing touches to the story which is about to be finished. Meanwhile, I'm still looking for a title wink wink (maybe I'll call it "War of Words" since some people ended up blasting eachother more than actually focusing on the story tongue cheesy)?.
TV/MoviesRe: X-factor (Who's Watching) by maedan(f): 2:00am On Oct 05, 2009
^^^Abeg shift jo cheesy. Do we complain when you are jumping around the sports section or romance or where ever you spend most of your time?? This your mouth is getting too much sef angry wink.
TravelRe: Somali Girls Are The Most Beautiful In Africa! by maedan(f): 1:57am On Oct 05, 2009
Hmmn. To think that the first black African to win Miss World was a Nigerian (Agbani). The first woman to win Mnet Face of AFRICA was a Nigerian (Oluchi). And someone dares ask why Nigerian girls can't look like the pictures of those Somalian club girls?? Spit!! In fact, this whole thread is an insult not to us but the female members of the Original Poster's family angry.
LiteratureRe: Your Thoughts ,my Thoughts, our Thoughts. by maedan(f): 10:40pm On Oct 04, 2009
Mister tongue, my thought on it is that I think I'd like to be a Leader if your theory is anything to go by wink.

^^^Lol, not exactly the same hairstyle - I don't like how she shaved her "ogo", but I did cut the sides low. It's actually a current trend and not her own personal style. Rihanna started it, not Rachel grin. But this is just my little way of showing support wink.
RomanceRe: Why Do Women Love To Marry Medical Doctors? by maedan(f): 9:26pm On Oct 04, 2009
Lol at Aloy.Emeka

No sin ooh. My friend married a pastor and she dare not even be five minutes late for church service tongue. Pastors are usually kind to outsiders but very strict to their family at home cheesy.

@ FL Gators

Don't turn your back on journalists o cheesy. They talk a lot yes but they look at things from all angles before making judgement. They will make good husbands because they are open-minded. Engineers are good too, like you said they are hardly ever out of work grin.
TravelRe: Somali Girls Are The Most Beautiful In Africa! by maedan(f): 8:58pm On Oct 04, 2009
Yeah, Somalia is war-torn etc but the famine etc sure helped these girls look good cheesy. Not that I think they are better than our Naija girls, but if the guy wants to quench over Somalian girls, please let's let him tongue. At least we know our own worth.
RomanceRe: Why Do Women Love To Marry Medical Doctors? by maedan(f): 8:45pm On Oct 04, 2009

Hmmn, zerocool I'm not sure myself why I said journalists cheesy. Just sounded nice at the time, lol. But people erroneously believe that all doctors must be caring because of what they do. Have you seen them in action? Do you know their job details?? Hmmn, their work is not easy; outside they are trained to have a certain gentle manner but trust me in their hearts they are cold and heartless. They have to be to really be good at their job.
TravelRe: Somali Girls Are The Most Beautiful In Africa! by maedan(f): 8:30pm On Oct 04, 2009
Hmmn these girls look fine and have nice facial structure - but they all look the same grin!! How can you compare our beauteous Naija babes to these when we have so many diverse tribes? Pretty Fulani girls look different from our lovely Igbo girls from our sexy Yoruba girls to our hot Edo girls----I could go on and on but my guy I don't want to get overzealous over "woman" like you bc I'm a woman myself cheesy.
RomanceRe: Why Do Women Love To Marry Medical Doctors? by maedan(f): 8:17pm On Oct 04, 2009
Hmmn. Would never have married a doctor - don't you know how cold and impersonal they can be, just so they can do their job properly? If you really want caring, date/marry a journalist cheesy (and no, not pastors bc they're too judgemental tongue).
TV/MoviesRe: X-factor (Who's Watching) by maedan(f): 8:14pm On Oct 04, 2009
WTH!!!

Despina was one of the best!! Whaaatt!! They'll regret this!! Or did something happen behind the scenes we don't know about?? Well well well, looks like I'll have to pick another favourite. I've always backed Rachel, I even copied her hairstyle tongue, so I'm happy for her but I guess I stick my favourite to one of the boys this time. I won't say who so I don't jinx it grin.
TV/MoviesRe: X-factor (Who's Watching) by maedan(f): 7:43pm On Oct 04, 2009
I'm just watching the repeat of Xtra Factor, listening to the boys sing for Cheryl. They are ALL fantastic!! I wonder who will be dropped? It will be gutting!! This is definitely the worst part of the whole show. Such a fantastic crop of hopefuls esp from the girls and boys category. I already have my winner grin but I'd hate to see anyone cry----Gosh this is hard cheesy - but fun to watch tho'!! Sorry SCD, but I think X-F is going to get a lot more live viewership from me!
TV/MoviesRe: ~ Any " Strictly Come Dancing" Fans? ~ by maedan(f): 7:10pm On Oct 04, 2009
^^^Yep, I'm getting more hype from the gossip than from the show itself grin!! I also heard that Anton called his partner (Laila) a "paki" after she got a spray tan grin. The papers are calling it a racial slur but the guy was just being funny, I guess.
TV/MoviesRe: ~ Any " Strictly Come Dancing" Fans? ~ by maedan(f): 6:57pm On Oct 04, 2009
Guilty as charged grin! @mohawkchic, I didn't watch either, but I just saw some re-runs of the X-factor show. I'll defo watch SCD soon. But always feel free to post spoilers, I don't mind grin. Or I could easily do like you and avoid the topic till I've seen the shows!!! wink
RomanceRe: Black People Should Learn To Love Themself by maedan(f): 5:57pm On Oct 04, 2009

Lol @ sweetpie23; you've got backbone. I can see you're one of those who like things to always be in order, like in the ancient days. Just like some people would not marry outside their tribe/religion. But life is all about choices. Respect people for the choices they make, and they will return the favour wink.
LiteratureRe: Your Thoughts ,my Thoughts, our Thoughts. by maedan(f): 5:51pm On Oct 04, 2009
@adebayo201, sorry but why do u always post in slang/shorthand?? It's very confusing mate smiley. I keep trying to read ur posts but it's a whole new language!!

@ frank3.16
One thing I've learned is that the more I didn't trust people, the less I trusted myself. So we all need to free our minds and hope for the best; we're all human so we should never lose faith in ourselves - and eachother.

Lol. I don't think I've ever met an ugly doctor. But it's true, once some men open their mouths and introduce themselves as "Dr. . ." you'll figuratively find women beating down their door---
RomanceRe: Black People Should Learn To Love Themself by maedan(f): 5:37pm On Oct 04, 2009

I can imagine that sometimes when you see a black man dating/marrying a "white", it seems like he has "turned his back on his own kind".
But most of these black men are genuinely in love. They could easily have fallen for their own black-skinned women but life just doesn't work that way.

Though for any of those guys who hunt for or prefer to marry white foreigners because they feel these are better than their own black women, then he's a clown because then he should first change himself from black to white to really match his oyibo choice undecided cheesy.
RomanceRe: What Will You Do (urgent Response From Girls Only) by maedan(f): 5:12pm On Oct 04, 2009
Woww shocked. The guy sounds like bad news. What you did was the best because it would give u both time to cook up an explanation. If you had stayed, things might have exploded after a while. Let's see if he calls you first to explain, or if you feel you're bold enough, you call and talk things out amicably. He's supposedly your fiance so no need to give him up without some effort.
TV/MoviesRe: Whos The Most Beautiful Lady In Hollywood by maedan(f): 4:47pm On Oct 04, 2009
@tounoni

hmmnn, thanks for the expo. I was of course making my own assumptions. And yes, I would assume the OP meant just actors. Hollywood is full of singers, actors, talk show hosts, sportspeople, entrepeneurs etc who are celebrities in Hollywood. It would be tooo wide a margin to include all the stars in Hollywood as a base to choose who the Most Beautiful Lady in Hollywood.

Yawwwn. Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie, have lost no respect, they are still admired for their looks. But with all the new young ones too numerous to mention, these two women have rightly allowed the new faces to enjoy some limelight. Timeless or not, "last century" was just a jocular term so no need to get ur hair all in a frizz.

LOL!!! You think grin?? @busybody20, trust me, everything was planned. Simon knew exactly that she was going to show up as a walking palm tree grin. He's just a very good pretender/actor cheesy.

I loved watching them all sing! And the locations shocked shocked----Dubai, Morocco, Italy, the U.S!!! They are so lucky this year!!

My favourite already is Despina---she's sooo perfect, in looks and voice. Talk about greek goddess smiley!

I feel sorry for Simon a little because all the singers in his group are so good, he'll be gutted trying to pick the last 3.

As for those twins, I hope Louis lets them go. They are not ready to be in the x-factor. But if he wants to manage them himself outside the show, he's free to. As for me, they've lost their appeal tongue.

Like I said before, @ George D, you too like good thing angry grin. Well, since Ogbono is your choice, it's obvious you have superior taste cheesy. I will try and save a bowl of soup for you.

@ topic though, have you ever tried ogbono made with groundnut oil? It comes out well but the taste is just not the same; an ogbono expert will always know the difference grin.

@ogaga4luv, from your first post on this topic I could see that you didn't come to read the story I'm running, but to do battle with whom ever you seem to have issues with from some other topic. I could count from dgreatrock to illusion2 and now semid4lyfe. I didn't expect such from you. It was funny in the beginning but not anymore. Let's keep the whole Literature thread, and not just this topic, free from any religious or political strife. Thanks in advance guys.

“I can’t say I’m not glad about that,” Ash said with a grin, taking her hand again. His touch was warm and soothing, his fingers smooth and gentle as they gripped hers. “We danced, and to me that was the high point of the whole party. You looked right through me half the time, but I still thought you were the loveliest, most wonderful girl I’d ever met.”
She looked down at their entwined fingers, hers slender and fair, his large and dark. He had the finest hands she’d ever seen, with a light dusting of hairs and well manicured nails. It felt good, their holding hands. So good it was sending shivers up her spine – but she told herself it had to be the chilly sea air.
“I warned you about too much flattery, Ash,” she said in a voice that sounded thick even to her own ears. What the heck was happening, she wondered – and tried to slip out of his hold, but his grip tightened
“But you’re more than a pretty face,” was his reply. “I knew you would be.”
She bit on her lip, looking any where but at him. She’d known he liked her, she remembered Itoro saying something to that effect, but she really hadn’t seen this coming. And she hadn’t expected to be attracted to him in return, either.
“I know Raymond really messed up – and trust me, I can bet he regrets it. But I’d never make that mistake,” he was saying, his voice soft yet firm. “If I had the chance to be with you, I’d never do anything that would hurt you or make you sad, ever.”
She shook her head in confusion. “I don’t know what to say. . .”
“Look, I’m just glad that we are even friends,” he told her, suddenly laughing out loud, surprising her. “When I thought you’d fallen for Raymond, I was so sure I didn’t stand a chance – not against Mr. Hunk himself.”
Tiara grunted. “He’s not all that, trust me. And he’s such a pig, too. His bedroom was a right mess!”
They both laughed, and just then they noticed that their friends were already making their way back. Without a word, they let go of interlaced fingers.
Itoro skipped up to them, colourful beads spilling from her hands. “Check these out, Tiara! We bought them off one Hausa trader. Won’t these make the coolest waist beads? Or we could wrap them round our wrists like bracelets – “
Both girls cooed over Itoro’s findings, but Tiara was only half-listening, her mind in a whirl. Lekan got talking to Ash about the donkey ride he’d just had with Itoro, and even as they discussed she knew Ash was looking at her, was aware of her as she was now so deeply aware of him.
She was really glad now that she’d agreed to come with them. She wasn’t sure just what was happening between her and Ash, but she welcomed it all the same. Only time would tell how far it would lead. . . . .

CHAPTER FIVE

The week went by, and when that Saturday, Itoro called Tiara up and suggested they all spent the afternoon on the beach with some friends, out of boredom she agreed.
She finally got to meet Lekan and Ash, who came by the house with Itoro to pick her up. Kessy was busy at home, so she opted out of the outing. Tiara got in at the back to sit beside someone who looked vaguely familiar. Itoro was up front with Lekan, and she made introductions.
“You guys know Tiara,” she said with a smile. “Tiara, this is Lekan and next to you is Ashiedu.”
“I think I met you guys before,” Tiara said thoughtfully.
Both guys chuckled. “Yeah,” Lekan said as he started the car. “We were with Raymond when your friend, Ope, introduced us.”
“But I guess you only had eyes for Raymond,” Ashiedu said with a wry smile, and she turned to him with interest. She remembered dancing with him once. But the room had been dark that night, she hadn’t taken notice of much. He was good looking, about her age, and well groomed. He also had a nice, cultured voice she found very attractive. It was strange she hadn’t noticed all this before.
Well, like he’d just pointed out, she’d been preoccupied with Raymond. Feeling like such an idiot, she decided to make some amends, and was as friendly as possible all through the outing.
But she didn’t need to try too hard, because Ashiedu turned out to be a great guy, fun and intelligent. In no time they were “gisting” like old pals.
The beach was crowded, but no less fun. They chose a breezy spot close to the crashing waves, and got a canopy all to themselves.
The great thing about Lagos beaches was that you didn’t need to pack a picnic – you could always be sure to find something fantastic to eat.
Lekan ordered them a large-sized barbecued fish, fresh and spicy, and it felt great the way they all tucked in all around the small table. Tiara had to confess she’d never tried the fish, though she’d come to the beach lots of times. It was tasty and well prepared – and went down superbly with the bottles of coke they’d bought.
Afterwards, Lekan and Itoro rose and announced they were going to “walk off” the meal. Tiara watched them speculatively as they strolled away into the distance, hand in hand. She turned to Ashiedu to find him staring at her with a strange look on his face. She poked him playfully. “Why do you keep looking at me like that?”
He laughed, shrugging. “What’s there not to look at? Even without a pinch of make-up, you look like a goddess. The sea breeze blowing through your hair. . . the sparkle in your eyes when you laugh – you’re very beautiful, Tiara. I wanted to tell you that the first time I saw you.”
Ash noticed that his confession made her uncomfortable, so he tried to make light of it. “But I’m sure you hear that all the time. So I won’t act like a broken record and add that you look a little funny when you chew your food.”
She gasped as if affronted. “No one’s ever told me that before!” she exclaimed, somewhat annoyed. He actually chuckled.
“Don’t worry, it was kind of cute, too. I could watch you eat all day.” When she looked away in a huff, he took hold of her hand placatingly, adding, “You even look lovelier when you’re annoyed.”
Tiara tugged her hand away – not that she was still enraged, but because she had found his gentle touch somewhat thrilling. It surprised and disturbed her. Why was she suddenly getting so drawn to him? Even though he teased her unmercifully, she was liking him more and more by the second.
“Just so you know, flattery will get you nowhere,” she warned him with a wagging finger, and they both burst out laughing,.
“Well, at least you know I want to get somewhere with you,” he said. “Or do I need to be a gorgeous basket-baller type like Raymond to get your attention?”
He was teasing her again, but she refused to rise, taking a sip from her coke before replying. “I rather we didn’t talk about him, if you don’t mind.”
He regarded her thoughtfully. “That’s funny – considering he was all you could talk about to your friends at the party.”
Her eyes flew up in surprise to meet his. “What do you mean?”
He shrugged. “I mean I was there. Remember the time the three of you came out to the balcony to talk? I was in the kitchen getting some glasses – and I happened to overhear the stuff you said about Raymond.”
Remembering how she’d been gushing on about him at the party that night, Tiara almost cried with embarrassment. “That was really rude of you, to eavesdrop like that,” she told him angrily instead.
He merely shrugged again. “It wasn’t deliberate, trust me. But I was a little curious. Raymond’s my friend, and I thought he was flipping lucky to get you to fall for him like that.”
“I didn’t fall for him!” she veritably snapped, then added more calmly, “Anyway, we aren’t even friends anymore.”
“What happened?” he asked quietly.
“Since he’s your friend, you probably heard anyway,” she shrugged. And then she found herself telling him what happened at Raymond’s house.
“I never wanted to see him again after that,” she finished, sighing. “It was just a passing infatuation, trust me. He turned out to be far from my type of guy.”
