Nawaooo That guy is there bleeding out, People are around him taking pictures. Collectively, they have more than enough resources to get him to a hospital, or Atleast check his pulse or lay him on the side to clear his airways. At first glance, there’s a good chance he’s still alive and clinging on to life but unconscious and may just suffocate on his own blood! Rather than help, they’d prefer to take pictures and post online. The reasoning of most Nigerians is just extremely backwards! During my undergraduate days, a woman was in a bike accident, everyone thought she was dead and as usual( they gathered around her and saying “this woman will not die in Jesus name”. I was taking a bike to my cousin’s place when I saw the crowd and decided to see what’s going on. As soon as I made my way to the front, I immediately sprung into action, felt for her pulse, asked the people to move back to allow enough air circulation, then I too off my shirt used my unsterilized clothe to Apply pressure to the place blood was gushing from. Her pulse was really faint and her body morbidly cold. My actions slowed down the bleeding and then I called on a bike man (a spectator) to take us to hospital, the bike man ran away. Eventually, a car was made available by a nearby hospital after about an hour or so. My actions that day stopped her from bleeding out and that woman is still alive today thanks to my quick thinking and action. God bless the good people in Nigeria. Shame on the rest. The Nairaland admins should stop moving gory pics like this to the front page. What if it was your brother or sister or mother or father? Or loved ones and friends that have their last last moments on earth shared for online likes and comments... we all have to collectively do better 203 Likes 8 Shares |

Sportwin: Though the 3 of them were murdered and faced significant trauma, only one of them was raped and tortured before murder. Please change your way of thinking! I just want to see justice done! |

saajus: The club asked, “how they can help Nigerians”. A lot of people selfishly went in there to request for funds to be paid directly to their account rather than requesting for something that would benefit as many people as possible. - food bank - recruiting talents increasingly from Nigeria - supply of medical equipment - building an isolation centre - youth empowerment program (e.g scholarships based on athletic abilities) So many things thy could have said but the first thing they thought about was themselves and their bank accounts! 4 Likes 1 Share |

Different rules for different people! One for the political class and one for the masses! Shame on this country! We are failing in everything. Any society that does not foster equity and justice can never have peace! 1 Like |

After humiliating Funke and JJC, they still go ahead and violate the same rule they punish others for! My country Epitomizes a society without justice! Such society can never have peace. E.g. the founder of Boko haram was the extrajudicially executed; today we have a Boko Haram that is 1million times more deadly. Ken saro wiwa was executed on the orders of a kangaroo court, today we have militant groups well armed and able to bring the country to its knees. Corruption was neglected and even praised, today we have one of the poorest countries on earth. A country without justice can never have peace. 2 Likes |

Growing up in Lagos, I can’t count how many times I saw a dead boy on the road side. Anything could’ve caused the man’s death. Let’s allow the NCDC do their job and get in front of the situation by avoid panic and rumors! |

Nice one! Shutdown is not for poor countries like Nigeria. Enforce the use of PPEs (e.g mask and gloves) and make healthcare accessible for all! Make it a punishable offense for businesses to fire employees taking take off for their health. That’s how we should do it! This shut down is for countries where majority can afford to stock up on a week supply of food! The average Nigerian lives hand to mouth and even those that can stickup don’t have power supply!! 33 Likes 4 Shares |

I just admire the way Nigerians from the East have rallied together to ensure their people are okay. I hope to see this gesture in all parts of Nigeria from our illustrious sons and daughters 1 Like |

Shame on NDDC Niger delta development commission for formed to bring about the growth and development of Niger delta. They were funded from oil revenues and excess crude accounts and have gulped billions if not trillions of dollars since inception. Unfortunately, absolutely nothing of great benefit has been placed in Niger delta. A lot of individuals got rich but the masses have been neglected to suffer!! Shame on NDDC!!! 1 Like |

Xda59: Okay! I’ve heard you. I am making excuses for stealing food but if I catch someone stealing I’ll either take it back or let them keep it! No too much drama! I came from the struggle so I understand what it means to go to bed hungry for 2 days straight! Have you ever starved for 2 days and it’s not because you are fasting but because you don’t have the means or resources to put food on your table! Then you try to beg but your neighbors are equally struggling! Then you try to approach random people on the street to ask them for anything they can afford to part with but they act like you’re invisible and the few that acknowledge your presence will outrightly accuse you of being a liar because you don’t look “disable”. If you have never experienced raw and unadulterated suffering, please don’t judge It takes a lot of humility to go out and beg strangers!! I’ve done that once and didn’t make a kobo... 1 Like |

CheedyJ: That policewoman is a hero if you ask me! The policemen were trying to destroy the goods of traders trying to feed their families but she stood her ground and paid the price. If there was a way we could learn more, I’d love to donate to her family 6 Likes 1 Share |

dulux07: The cause of engine failure is irrelevant because when the first engine failed, the pilots should have requested for an emergency landing at the nearest airport! But they chose to continue the flight!! That was extremely poor judgement which penultimately led to the fatal crash! 2 Likes |

Kingspin: For whites only lol If those were black protesters, armed and protesting for their “rights” in the middle of a pandemic, I guarantee you that the media reaction would’ve been different and the outcome would’ve also been fatal!! Only white people get away with things like that! They come to our country and ignorant people treat them like gods, we go to theirs and they treat us worst than dogs!! Be wise!! We have to emancipate our minds and realize that these people are not nearly better than us! They are more technologically advanced but have done everything in their power to consistently stunt the growth of the black race. 24 Likes 4 Shares |

[b]I still maintain that a “shut down” or “lock down” is not an appropriate response in countries like Nigeria. This is the absolutely worst time to copy the response that western countries implemented. Our economy is too weak and our people too poor to afford a shut down. How many people can actually afford to stock up on two weeks worth of supply when majority live from hand to mouth and depend on charity/transfer payments from relatives overseas. An appropriate response would’ve been to ramp up the production of mask and hand gloves and hand sanitizers which would be made free or subsidized and easily assessable to all Nigerians. Then a mandatory use of those sanitary items should be encouraged and awareness should be created on all media platforms!! Then, the NCDC should be empowered to ramp up testing and isolation should there be cases. The police should be mandated to arrest and fine anyone without a nose mask when in public!! A shutdown has hurt and will continue to hurt the majority of our populace and businesses. That is a western response because they can afford to doll out trillions of dollars and maintain consistent production of supplies which will encourage their residents to stay home!!! WE MUST NOT COPY EVERYTHING FROM THE WEST! OUR RESPONSE SHOULD BE TAILORED FOR OUR SITUATION!! Social distancing and shutdown cannot work in a country a little bit bigger than Texas but with a population larger than all the African countries and most countries on earth!!
