Lolz. You have already given yourself all the advice you need nau. I'm sure you already have a Naira current account. Just walk into your bank and open a dom account in $, £ or €. Buy forex with any fallow naira lying around and dump into new dom account, and save yourself the impending devaluation tsunami that is certainly coming.
yeah right, but no bank sells me $ @ their branch @ advertised rates, i keep buying from abokis @ premium and depositing into my dorm acct

flourmills have blamed their drop in revenue mostly on the apapa gridlock,i believe this also affected dangote sugar and nascon. As we enter dis bonanza period let brethrens that live in Lagos pls update us on when this apapa hold up has cleared, I heard dangote is building another road down there.......I will base my buying decision on any business @ apapa on this

how does one save money in foreign currency and escape the excessive charges.....I ask this as i am about to sell a bike i bought 4 years ago for more than 150% the amount I bought it, after reminising, i think it is futile to save or invest in naira as your base currency......Naira is just not a good store of value, I still earn the same salary as i did 4 years ago but i am fucking poorer.......Its so bad that when i checked my Retirement savings account, my balance 4 years ago is greater than the amount there now if we convert the money to dollars @ the exchange rates of 2013 and 2018.....................Please help me out huhhuhhuhhuh??

Is that why you have been missing class now? Humility is a virtue you know. lipsrsealed
Its those in Wapco and FM that are really humbled.
humility is yet to begin, let dem first declare their full year result in the mist of GT giving #2.45 final dividend, then you will move from humility to piety

Larfage is doing well too in PH and the entire SE. They bring as much cement as dangote and even sell cheaper, yet them still dey release dull result.
Revenue wise wapco is not doing bad, its just that equity holders share of the pie right now is non existent, wapco right now exists for admin expenses and paying borrowed debt, but i want to believe the new restructuring exercise they are carrying out.....by the time it start trickling down to equity holder they way the share price will move ehh......

Currently, I still expect wapco to go down more probably sub #10,as they will definitely declare loss this year, the cheaper you get it the better for long termers.....

i disagree with the bold in that, am currently in PHC and the way dangote is bringing in Trucks of cements into Rivers state will tell u the guy is all over the country.
wapco has their market too, if u enter most part of ibadan u will attest to this, when i went to jos I was suprisd to see the town painted by bua cement trucks, in zamfara katisna axis its sokoto cement, one thing u will understand fast in cement business is that it is a high bulk low value good, It is just inefficiencies in our transportation system that is making Dangote and others make large killings transporting something a little better than sand all over Nigeria by road....I am not afraid for any cement factory in Nigeria as far as your factory is not @ Dangotes backyard

But You said this is a 3euro stock......... Actually, I believe wapco will still tend in the #150 to #200 zone in the next 4 years, I am on accumulation mode... I have this belief because Wapco has a humongous revenue stream and right now they are just trying to shake away weak retail investors

NIGERIANS
are daydreaming their way to a poorer future by keeping too great a portion of their investments in NIGERIA despite massive underperformance of NSE indices, Skyrocketing cost of living and a future which looks equally bleak for those trying to grow or even just preserve their wealth.
It's time for Nigerians to invest with their heads, not their hearts. I am advising young investors to invest as much of their money as they can elsewhere in the world. I do not see a single reason why people should keep any discretionary investable funds in this country.

People should keep their house and their pension as their only assets here if they live in Nigeria . But the rest should be invested in hard currency assets that will protect their buying power, which has already been deeply eroded.

Nigeria is now in its longest downward business cycle since the inception of NSE and the performance of its assets continues to reflect this unfortunate reality.

The Naira has lost its value against the US dollar in the past five years and remains under pressure. Investors in Nigerian equities have lagged developed markets, while prices of commodities have increased at less than half the rate of inflation for several years.

The S&P 500, for example, has delivered a total return of nearly 100percent in the past five years, the Nasdaq 147percent and even the 10-year Treasury bond a return of 12percent. The total return in Naira for the Nigerian general equity market over the same period is just nudging 11 to 21percent versus a 131percent total return of the MSCI World Index, also in Naira . But the Nigerian general equity market return rebased to US dollars is down 30 percent. Many popular Equities are also showing negative dollar returns over five years.

A contributor on Nairaland investment forum has seen a sharp uptick in the numbers of nairalanders who are worried about the future here and want to protect their wealth for their families not for the polithievcians.

Despite already being in a downward trajectory , Nigeria is marching on with plans to elect Atiku or the incumbent both of which will spell further doom for the economy, Atiku party has even promised to revert pump price of petrol to N79/litre (suicidal economy promises) while carrying on with an economic and industrial policy which will only make things worse for the country - potentially leading to further rating downgrades, a bailout and sustained or increased high unemployment, further borrowing from IMF, World Bank , CHINESE BANKS and other Lenders.
NIGERIANS are in a "day- dreaming denial" instead of taking hard action.

Much of the advice we read on this forum does not reflect the reality of Nigeria today. People deriving unrealistic FA and TA with fictitious datas.
For instance, it is a long-held belief that local investors and traders should JIJO while some opined on long-term (myself included) . Being completely independent
I will advise local investors to move 30% to 50% of portfolio offshore. (Not traders)
I am banging the table on this one and saying get your money out.

I am advising potential investors to put money in the US despite many predictions that the markets there have run so hard a steep correction is imminent.

The US is the most dynamic, innovative economy in the world. And despite stock price gyrations, for the longer-term investor we think being exposed to many of the world's best companies is a far better play than investing 100% of your investable funds in NSE .
Oga pls open a thread and educate us on how to go about it legallyand peacefull without leaving the shores of the country

My brother if you invest 500k for 90 days,

if I base this on the assumption of the MMF that I operate, you’d get roughly 14,850 and that will represent a 2.97% increase in returns on your investment,

90 days is a short period in investment, as this won’t afford your money to enjoy the miracle of compound interest for a long period , try out the medium term investment say between 5-10years and watch the power of compound interest

I stand to be corrected though
500k for 10yrs with stanbic gives how much

Most consumer goods(df, dangote sugar, honeywell etc) results have shown plummeting returns
Could this be as a result of destruction of the middle class by the poor economic policies, hence low purchasing power.
If so, then the only salvation for this companies will be implementation of the new minimum wage.
Poor economic policies and increase in minimum wage is a recipe for catastrophe.....No think am o

I once heard abdulsamad rabiu(bua) say he will never go into a business that sources raw materials abroad again in his life...... I believe this applies to most of our top business men in the country, flour milling, fuel distribution et al as a big venture for the likes of dangote, rabiu , elumelu is a thing of the past, the margin is very low, they now talk cement, sugar, rice, power..... If they get it right the likes of flormill, uacn, dangotesugar, refinery will sell for more than #400 in 5years time that if Our Nigerian management factor no perform their magic

I don't know where you got the 30 million Naira figure. On the website, it says a minimum of 4,000 Pound sterling, which is approximately 2 million Naira.
you are correct, but imagine you have like 4mill for example, when you hear 35dollar charges on transactions this can send chills down your spine, but there is a level you get and those charges look like moimoi......................... Like imagine i want to transfer 2 million to you from my phone interbank, all i am charged is #100 well I dont really mind but if i am charged #5000 for that, then thats definitely a screamer

THE day we begin to understand the fundamentals of most businesses is the day that the cloud will be unveiled from the eyes of most nigerians...., HOW can a bank gather our colldctive sweatbas deposit and loan it out to politicians that squander it and we celebrate this people everyday on the media.....,Corporate thieves are the biggest yam eaters in this country, they are the ones looting the country dry....The looters in government are only sharing oil money, not what we sweat daily for......I AM OF THE OPINION THAT WE FORGIVE TREASURY LOOTERS AND GIVE CARPITAL PURNISHMENT TO CORPORATE THIEVES.
