8/10. He seem to have found his feet and has become somewhat mature and assured (this isn't to say he was child-like). Kept his cool even in the most difficult of moments for him as a person and a politician. All in all, he's a good fit. I wish they'll leave him be in one piece. |
This is really terrible. I wonder how many souls must have been lost to this. An important road as this should never be left in a bad state, let alone become this much a death trap. Our leaders need their heads examined on what their priorities really are. Such a shame! |
This is really sad. Jonah Jang really did this guy strong thing. First, he took his senate seat, then his kidney, bought his Abuja house (guy requested money to fund his campaign, Jang said he hadn't money and asked that the guy sells his abj house, only to turn around and buy the house. He was denied even campaign funds issued various states by the PDP national body), set him up for failure in the gubernatorial polls. He has been suffering ever since he donated that kidney to Jang. If there's anyone meaner, it must be the devil himself! |

MosquitoLaps:They didn't just call out the amount. It's a penalty based on 200,000 naira ($1,000) for each of 5.1 million cellphone SIM cards that had not been registered and should have been disconnected by an August deadline. Now, do the maths. |
seunlayi:You can't be more wrong. Gowon is the most contented Nigerian leader, both past and present bar none. |

Kwankwaso asking the Yoruba elders to "shut up" is not only disrespectful, but a testament of how the wrong people (except for a few) have been in position of power in Nigeria since long. That a senator who was at one point, a presidential aspirant could be as unthinking is bewildering given his education and level of exposure. On nairaland alone, I see many people of character, vision and leadership skills on a daily basis, people who take corrective measures when criticised, civilised, educated, intelligent and well articulated Nigerians. These people cut across most tribes in Nigeria. And I ask, how then, do we end up being led by the mediocre so often? It's a shame that the average Nigerian, for all his/her ideas and dreams hasn't any platform through which he/she can be heard (forget twitter and Facebook, it's a noise making platform as far as they are concerned). Our leaders, with the spotlight on them, tend to act as our spokespersons and as such, whatever they utter is seen as the view of the collective, albeit, erroneously. With this in mind, our "leaders" ought make well informed decisions and thoughtful utterances. Alas, the opposite is the case. Kwankwaso's utterances were condescending, divisive and capable of brewing hatred. Rather than empathising with the victims and offering better ways of tacking the problems headlong, he disrepected them and attached emotions to the issue. That's no sign of a man capable of leading even a herd of cattle! This is typical of our leaders since time immemorial. They are bereft of ideas and have no knowledge of what leadership entails. A la accidental leaders. It's as though they get overwhelmed by the responsibility and expectations of carrying a people. Most of them lack human relationship. They seem to not realise that the institutions are why they are leaders. As is in the case of Buhari vs IPOB. To affront a sovereign state in the manner Nnamdi does, is treason. Treating each Igbo as though they are Nnamdi is even worse. I really don't know much about law, but to keep the man locked up for more than a week without being charged with an offence, and to on top of that, deny him a visit doesn't seem legal to me. That infringes on his rights as a person and as a citizen. Mr president does not seem to realise that he's the president of a heterogeneous people. When you consistently persecute a section like he's doing, people get the sense that he's pursuing an agenda against the said nation. More so, they have a right to agitate, although peacefully. Of which I still have yet to hear of any person killed by those agitating for Biafra. So I wonder what violent means the government will suggest when they charge Nnamdi to court. Maybe that's why they are delaying his charge. And about OBJ saying that they'll crush the Igbos like they did years back? Fowl mouthedness is one of the reasons why they are a failure. Mr president has failed to put his body language where it's better fit. He has failed to show his disapproval at the Fulani's wreaking havoc on farmers in the middle belt and in Yoruba lands. Just a word from him registering his disappointment is enough to make them have a rethink, as the fulanis have a thing listening to one of their own. But for where, the guy no send. So much has been said about his appointments, to which I replied, "Maybe he has amnesia". How else do you explain a president making almost 80% appointments from one region alone? Forget the pareto principle or any sort. This is sheer illogical! Those close to these people should advise them to be people oriented now that they still have the chance to do so, carry everyone along, and not witch hunt. PS: I'm pro Buhari. |
kolaaderin:It's not a lie. Glo is more interested in dashing celebrities monies that they don't deserve than they are at bettering the services rendered the masses. Airtel is far more inconsistent. The only network brand with the capacity and financial might to match toe to toe or even better MTN, is Etisalat. Only, just like in the case of GTB and FBN, they don't cover as much places. |

veraponpo:GEJ never really stood for something nor against any. He was an "anything goes" man. That was why when the wind came, it blew him away along. VP YO on the other hand is a man of substance and a sound intellect. I doubt he will ever be as susceptible to ills much as Jonathan was. Besides, I meant this in the context of intellect. |
Yes he's a professor, a sound technocrat at that. His pedigree has never been in doubt. But he just took it up a notch. Watching him sly it all, I can't help doffing my "head" in reverence. He will easily pass for an economist seeing how he's having a lucid moment at the 21st Nigerian Economic Summit. I doubt if even the CBN governor can elucidate as much. Round peg in a round hole I must say! |
May the good Lord see to her safety. The desperation for quick illegit riches these days is quite alarming. The move might either be politically motivated or a sheer act of kidnap. Whichever one, we pray for her safe return back home to her parents! One day though, the poor will have nothing left to eat but the rich. As has been happening in countries where the gap between the rich and the poor can be liken to the one between heaven and earth. BTW, Vanguard, that was a shambolic write up! |

Nice development! |
Although this is late in coming, it will go a long way in helping put a stop to the dastardly acts being perpetuated by those monsters. If nothing, it should instill fear in their sponsors, which will make them halt for a while to avoid being found out seeing as security details will be in hot pursuit. This will give the government the edge to record even more success, assuming that they are proactive. |
. Much as I commend his resolve to fend off attackers of his tribesmen, albeit verbally, to be fair to them, there isn't a shred of evidence pointing to the fact that it's actually Fulani herdsmen carrying out those attacks. Anyone could disguise as Fulani and carry out these heinous acts and have us believe it's them doing it. It has so happened in various attacks on Plateau villages where the Fulanis are often accused, only for evidence to later point in the direction of the military. Or why else do you think those Plateau women protested against the posting of military men sometime ago? I can neither confirm nor deny that it's them, I'm just saying that it's easy to blame every attack on the herdsmen just because they're the usual suspects. |
@OP, you can't be more right. In truth, that's the least the average Hausa man could do. I was born in Kaduna, raised in Yobe, did my uni in Zaria... so it's safe to say that I have seen the goodness of the Hausa man first hand. The average Hausa man will not shortchange you even 50 kobo, is generous, amiable and peace loving. It comes to me as a bit of surprise seeing all the insults being intended at them. The generalisation is fallacy, I tell you. |

Buhari: Confirm my nominees or consider yourself a goner! Bukola: You know I'll do anything to be in your good graces. Kyari: I been think say you no dey fear! Saraki: How could I not be afraid when baba has a lion in Amaechi to call on. You should see how he scares the shit out of those Rivers senators! All laugh uncontrollably. |
Active lines in the nation’s telecommunications industry rose to 151,018,624 in the month of August, the Nigerian Communications Commission has said. The commission made this known in its Monthly Subscriber Data made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Wednesday. NAN reports that active lines in Nigeria were 150,741,005 in the month of July, but increased by 277,619 in August. According to the data, 148,708,160 of the 151,018,624 active numbers belonged to Global System for Mobile communications network services. Active lines on the GSM increased by 212,955 in August from 148,495,205 in July. The Code Division Multiple Access operators had 2,125,941 active users in August, indicating an increase of 68,422 from the 2,057,519 customers they had in July. The Fixed Wired/Wireless networks’ active consumers increased to 189,523 in August as they added 1,242 customers to the 188,281 users they had in July. The data revealed that the country’s teledensity increased to 107.87 per cent in August from 107.67 per cent in the month of July. NAN reports that the teledensity measures the percentage of a country’s population with access to telecommunications services as determined from the subscriber base. Nigeria’s teledensity is currently calculated by the NCC on a population of 140 million people. NAN also reports that there was an increase of 0.20 per cent in the teledensity of Nigeria in the month of August. Cleansing and ridding the land of kleptomaniacs. 100% sanctioned! |
Yes! She digs you. Thing is, her turning you down at first might have been due to shock as she possibly never thought about the possibility of you two dating before. It must have taken her some time to adjust to the reality. As for her initiating chats and stuff, that's the green light, seeing as she never use to do those before. A lady who doesn't send you wouldn't even bother. |
I'm just wondering the conversation that evoked that kind of laughter. Like the Hausa man will put it, "wasa da kaza ba ta hana yanka!". |
TonyeBarcanista:Now you're trying to deflect attention. No act of terrorism is too little, but how does sporadic gunshots in Geidam and head on battles in a little less than 5 towns amount to an "almost brought down"? I think Yobe witnessed worse during Jona's regime... and this is not politicking. |
Vampires! They've sucked us dry. People do not seem to realise that these people are the reason the economy is in a mess today. I feel Buhari should rather be applauded for cushioning the effects. Had Jonathan remained in power, the consequences would have been far-reaching. Nigeria would have amassed more debts on top of the already insurmountable one by now, these roques would still have been robbing us in day light... besides, his dolarization of the economy during the campaign period is by and large, a contributing factor to the declining naira exchange rate today. |
Before. They know first-hand, how pivotal he is to any government. |
