Ayowolebami: I’m more curious as to why a home visit is necessary for nursery admissions where you are. Is that the norm in England? Seems strange. |

House, So I bought goods from a Company. Business transaction. Items over £500+ were not delivered. We found out and asked for a refund for items not delivered. Total transaction was much larger but they delivered the rest. It’s been over 3 weeks now and the contact guy keeps posting me. Every week he promises to do a refund still no show. What’s the fastest way to get my money out please. It’s an Indian run company if it helps and payment was made via bank transfer not PayPal so I can’t even use the PayPal route. I’m getting pissed. Any advice is welcome. Thank you. 1 Like |

HollyMadison: You want friends who aren’t related to being your kids into the UK? If that’s what you’re asking, I’d say it’s probably possible with a lot of detailed paperwork and will most likely invite close scrutiny of the entire traveling party. Why risk it? I’d advice you make arrangements for yourself or a blood family member to bring them if you can. Cheers. 1 Like |

bigtt76: To answer your question let me share my friend’s story: Arrived UK as a Student - 09/2021 Started working part time (casual work)- 10/2021 all the while applying for roles in HR where she has over 8+ years experience. Got Band 5 HR Job- 03/2022 in University of Oxford Part time. Got Band 5 HR Job- 07/2022 in same University Part time but permanent role. Got Band 5 Sponsored Role- 08/2022 to start in October. She’s just about to submit her dissertation. She has remained on band 5 but the scale has been going up with each new job. It’s important to note that for a long time people told her that HR jobs were hardly sponsored in the UK and she almost gave up but decided to try the NHS and got lucky. It’s doable 11 Likes |

dupyshoo: 100% agree with you. I’m the socially awkward parent Sef so I struggle to make small talk while the mums are super nice. I’ve learnt not to force it and only talk when I’m in the mood Plus as you said, kids are different. I have one kid like yours who’s a social butterfly and the class leader and 2 who are super selective and will only make friends with a small group. The trick is not to force it and let things flow naturally. |

jesmond3945: Honestly, don’t sweat it too much. Brown skinned people are also very scarce where I am. My kids are the only ones in an entire school (pri +sec combined). As Ticha said, they play a lot in school already, plus here fortunately everyone invites the whole class to parties so their social calendar is busy. Just get them involved in extra curricular activities where you can and keep raising them to be confident. Also, (and I tried this recently for my daughter), you can initiate a play date request yourself if your child is particularly close to one person no matter the race. You’ll be shocked that the parent’s are open to it as well. 2 Likes |

DFmum: I hope you find. Otherwise it’s normally a formal letter to the Head of School informing them that he will be relocating to live with this father. It’s not a big deal. As long as you inform the school and it’s acknowledged. |
