Those asking about BRP, i have a family that attended Biometrics appointment on 20th to switch from Tier 4 to Tier 2, they got successful feedback next day, 21st, and got their new BRP 1 week later, 28th. Sure they would have gotten the BRP faster if not for the numerous Holidays in-between.

The same thing happened to us (Tier 2 extension). 24 hours approval. BRP in 1 week. I guess the Covid lag is over. The efficiency was mind blowing.

But did he have to open lemonade account when he arrived in Britain or open it while in Nigeria ?

How do you convert naira on Lemonade app because I have a Lemonade account here in the Uk , A friend is coming over with some Naira in his account hoping to transfer it into my account when he arrives.

I'm yet to figure out how the conversion/ transfer thing is going to work .

Please can someone break it down into pieces how it works because I have never done this sort of transaction before. Thanks

1. Your friend will have to send his Naira to your own Naira account.

2. You will fund your Naira lemonade wallet (lemonade gives you an account to pay in Naira to do this).

3. Once your lemonade wallet is funded in Naira you can convert to £ on their app. At this point you’ll be at the mercy of whatever rate is there.

4. You take your £ in the app (after conversion) and send to your Uk account.

Rinse & Repeat as needed.

Hope this helps.

Over 10 working days and no BRP sent via post. Plus no email saying they will send it. Called UKVI today and they said I won't get a new BRP, because I used the app during my application, so my picture was captured etc. Please does anyone have this experience of updating their visa from student to skilled worker dependent visa and then no new BRP? Instead just a status update online. Can I travel out and return to UK without a valid BRP? Thanks ahead

UKVI said they are looking to completely phase out physical BRP’s by December 2024. So I think any issuance that’s seen as unnecessary is being dropped. I don’t think you’ll have issues if you have official correspondence to that effect.

I excluded that because they are both in a previous application. And as justwise said 'at some point the chicken will come home to roast'

Are you guys purposely saying ‘roast’? It’s Roost not Roast. I’m sorry I tried to mind my business but it’s now being quoted.

Hi fam, I'd like to ask if the maternity allowance counts as public funds

I’ve heard it’s dependent on length on the job and type of employment. Hopefully someone with experience will throw more light.

Nursery Hack: If you have ONLY nursery aged children and so can afford to place them in any Nursery school essentially without worrying too much about pickup for older kids; consider putting them in a private nursery that partners with your local council.

For instance, if your council or town has a private/independent primary school, it’s nursery unit could be partners with your council hence your child can still attend free. You’ll have to ask or check their website to see.

Trust me, everything is better on that side. They eat good. Hot meals + desert. Worth checking.

X.

Hi

Does this mean that the meal offered in Scotland nursery as part of the 1140 funded hours is public fund?

Cos it’s clearly stated to be available for every child (from 3yrs) who qualifies for the funded early learning.

No Nursery feeding is not Public Funds.

Edited to add that I mean the ‘snack they give here’. At nursery levels you will have to pack a lunch for your child. But they give them endless fruit and drinks that is not counted as a meal.

The rule is: if you need to ‘apply’ specially for the benefit it prolly counts as public funds.

Have you googled?

I have. Indeed, Reed, Total Jobs & Linkedin are fighting for Space on the results page. I’m hoping that someone in that field can share the main go-to place if it exists.

I would turn it down and state that it is not a suitable school for a child who is new to the UK, the UK education system and consequently may potentially struggle as the school does not have the proper systems in place to support your child transition into the UK education system.

Download the OFSTED report- highlight all the issues and particularly any issues that refer to race and bullying. Include that your child is new in the country and deserves a suitable place of education where there is effective systems and support in place to enable them integrate and access a suitable education. That is more than reason enough to decline.

Also state that the LEA must provide a suitable place of education for your child so they need to make the provision. It's a legal requirement - throw the ball right back in their court.
Any reviews you find especially from parents of ethnic minority children - include it.

I wish I could like this twice.

Okay I thought you meant that’s their ILR sorted.

You have to pay if you want to play. No free lunch.

Payment is not in dispute. It’s the fact that it’s a very expensive lunch. Like that Salt Bae’s Steak. Especially considering that all ‘Payees’ are contributing to the community and paying taxes.

More reason why it’s important not to mess up your chances by any ‘freebies’ that will land you in trouble. Do quick and leave the rat race.

They just paid for their ILR.

Nope. They still have 5 years to go before ILR. This is BRP with a permanent job (non medical/shortage list). So Visa fee per person was £1,423 before you add IHS for 5 years. Multiply by 4.

Random Musings: What’s the largest amount you’ve heard a family has had to pay for their BRP?

Today I heard £18k and was completely blown! Family of 4. 5 years visa fee + IHS. That’s crazzzyyyyyyy!!! A whole mortgage deposit! Whew! You think your own is bad until you hear what other peeps are going through.

I kind of tilt towards the COVID relief being universal as well: TheGuyfromHR might be of assistance regarding COVID.

Like you said it’s tricky. We and many others didn’t get any Covid Relief. You’ll have to be in a certain pool classified as receiving some type of Government credit or support to automatically receive the Covid Relief. Best to avoid IMO.
