Even after the man accepted defeat, people are still dying of heart attack. Even after he gets back to otuoke, I bet Nigeria's problems will still be attributed to him.
The true story of this monumental sabotage will be told in the nearest future but my advise to GEJ haters will be to focus on building Nigeria with their choice president and stop dissipating their energy on battering GEJ.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Is Not A Hero – Oby Ezekwesili by manuelo130: 8:14pm On Apr 03, 2015
Mr Jonathan is a hero and has disappointed those who wished to see him contest the outcome of the election and subsequent catastrophic events. Like it or not, the whole world will remember him and think this is a huge disappointment for most of his detractors

Oby Ezekwesili probably has a very short memory or has a morbid hatred for Mr Jonathan. Otherwise she would understand that Mr Jonathan neither kidnapped the Chibok girls nor caused the numerous problems in Nigeria. He did his best, within the prevailing circumstances to govern Nigeria. Prior to the unfortunate kidnap, many prominent northerners promised to make his government a hellish one and it was only natural for him to adopt the stance he did just after the news of the kidnap. This is Nigeria and crazy things happen for political purposes.

Even when efforts were made, sabotage from military men of northern extraction did not allow anything to happen.

While i forgive some young Nigerian who have not been on this earth long enough to see what manner of person GMB is, i think Ms Ezekwesili is old enough to have witnessed the bigot that Buhari truly is but has chosen to ignore.
Talking about our president elect, all i hope for is that he is truly a changed man, otherwise many people (especially those from the SS and SE who supported him) have disappointment and regret staring them in the face.

We are waiting for GMB's first 100 days in office.

Politics / Re: How Jonathan Defeated Obasanjo by manuelo130: 6:51pm On Apr 03, 2015
I cannot agree less
We all know OBJ and his desire for African statesmanship. He jumps onto any bandwagon that portrays him as a statesman in Africa.
He fought Jonathan tooth and nail for obvious reasons to the extent of anticipating the now infamous "Gbagbo treatment" on him
But Jonathan certainly has the last laugh. If he wins the Mo Ibrahim award for leadership in Africa, OBJ might commit suicide.
I have not researched the modality for this award but i am very sure that both Buhari and OBJ will scuttle the opportunity for Jonathan if they have any role to play in that award.
Every word that came out of the mouth of OBJ regarding Jonathan was laden with so much hatred that you almost think they had pre existing issues to settle. I guess we all have to wait and see.

Politics / Re: Chimamanda Adichie's NYTimes Article On Nigeria's Epileptic Power Supply by manuelo130: 11:57pm On Feb 01, 2015
bukjam:
Great article but then Miss Adichie has a way of making things look bigger than they are. She wrote about the extreme and made it look like the norm but its normal in writing though.

I agree the country has lost a lot due to the irregular and epileptic power supply though. I'm sure people will fully comprehend what they've been losing out on when they finally get to av power supply regularly. This annoying thing doesn't just affect us financially.. It affects us in every aspect even mentally or emotionally.

Btw, does Chimamanda write for any local newpaper or magazine? Or its only abroad that she sells the country short. Its all about the money and international recognition, yeah?

The lady just described life in Nigeria as it relates to power supply and no one who has ever lived in Nigeria will have any problems relating to this story.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Leicester City Vs Manchester United (5 - 3) On 21st September 2014 by manuelo130: 8:13pm On Sep 21, 2014
To Man united defenders I say welcome to the EPL but they have to learn really fast that teams from the lower division are very physical in their play.
LVG unfortunately is new to the EPL but this is where Ryan Giggs come in to educate the new comers on how to put on a different mentality when playing these teams.
Otherwise Man u has a good bunch of players except for a few inexperienced defenders.
Did anyone notice Di Maria walking away very angry from the bench after the match and LVG appeared to have noticed? I only saw the clips and did not know the circumstances under which he was substituted.

Not highlighting the Super Eagles achievements against Argentina might just make the victory against France sweeter. Many people will not expect the troubles the Nigerian team will cause France. I know that match is not gonna be a walk in the park for France. The Eagles might even win it comfortably.

Politics / National Conference Or Arab Spring Type Of Revolution-which One Can Save Nigeria by manuelo130: 8:23am On Dec 28, 2013
There have been debates about the merits or otherwise of another talk show focusing on the numerous socio political problems of Nigeria.
Many have doomed the proposed national conference for failure given the outcome of previous conferences.

What do you think would be the best way forward to get Nigeria back to the path of growth, harmony, unity and progress?
Is there any chance that the proposed National conference could steer the ship of the Nigeria state away from the precise?
Is this just another waste of tax payers money?
Could there be a true representation of the wishes and aspirations of Nigeria n's at this conference?

This news tends towards the notion that the civilian jtf is a time bomb waiting to happen. Poorly trained civilians should not be allowed to commit sucide in the name of vigilante
Politics / Civilian JTF -an Unrefined Crime-fighting Tool Or A Time Bomb ? by manuelo130: 7:30pm On Jul 28, 2013
I have watched with amazement the tremendous impact the involvement of the so called civilian JTF has made to the fight against the Boko Haram terrorists and I have been reflecting on adopting this model for all other ethnic nationalities in the fight against crime.

Truth be told, despite the gallantry of the men of the Nigerian army, the sucesses recorded so far including cessation of sunday bombing of churches and other places of worship would have been far-fetched without the cooperation of this local militia.

I salute their courage, patriotism and desire to contribute to the unity of this nation even in the face of huge personal sacrifices (some of them have paid the ultimate price)

This has also enhanced my respect for this section of the country and I want to encourage other ethnic nationalities to borrow a leaf from these "boko haram nemesis"

What do you think guys?

pekelepekele: #1 reason why nigeria football will never progress unless they change is that they always think you should go there and win and never lose , once you lose they will start debating of getting a new coach and if you win they will nearly move the whole public funds into your account.

In any competition , some have to lose while some wins and i don't think any tipster would have predicted Nigeria to draw or win the match we played against uruguay.

This time it is not the coach anymore but the goal keeper just imagine the way they are blaming a goal keeper that did a fantastic job during afcon , You guys have forgotten that so soon .

Well am here waiting to see the goal keeper you will use against SA .

Nigeria smh

Watch that second goal highlight below and tell me if any keeper will be able to catch that ball and even the first goal is not a easy one for a goal keeper to catch if he manage to punch it out , that player will re-kick the ball into the net .

Even a trainee keeper can catch that ball. Enyeama was already on the tuff (maybe out of fear) as the ball was approaching despite the fact he is not the tallest of keepers. Tell me how he wanted to punch the ball from ground.

He who gathers ant-infested woods should not complain when the lizards come visiting. I love GEJ. He is a man of great fortitude. He bore Amaechi's insult for a long time, just like the Boko Haram menace, and when it became unbearable, he rose to the ocassion.
Amaechi now knows he should not have diarrhea of the mouth whenever he likes against a sitting president. Think about all the channels of communications available to him to reach GEJ which he chose not to use but goes to the press for cheap popularity.
Now he does not have time to attack GEJ since he is battling to keep his home front. Good for him.
Worse still Dame Patience Jonathan seems to be the one running the show now which makes it worse for him.

Politics / Re: Buhari Faults Clampdown On Boko-Haram Members by manuelo130: 3:19am On Jun 03, 2013
As long as the Nigerian government continue to glorify and reward violence we will see no end to emergence of violent groups.
That said BH and Niger Delta militants - there is no basis for comparism in terms of ideology.
The BH menace is annoying and has no class contrary to the ND militants.

Useless Nigeria politicians always seeking to score cheap politic points. How could a decision by a private enterpreneur to expand his business be attributed to the governor.
How about the roads and clearing refuse bins in Aba? God will forgive all of you..

Politics / Re: Did Chinua Achebe Actually Do Anything To Promote Development In Nigeria? by manuelo130: 4:42pm On Mar 24, 2013
The initiator of this thread does not seem to understand the word "development". His thread restricted development to physical infrastructure and that is the lowest value on the ladder rung of the definition of that word.
Like someone else pointed out, Achebe excelled at what he did and that is not contestable. All he fought for his entire life was for the government of Nigeria to live up to their expectations.

We are so used to telling critics of governments to come and join and contribute their quota but we forget the corrupting influence associated with being a part of governement. I still remember how Tai Solarin was almost messed up when he became a part of the People's bank story.
Even Wole Soyinka with the Roads Safety.
Some people are not cut out for politics and if they decide to contribute their quota to development by other means, so be it.

Can anyone tell me that Abacha or Babangida contributed more to the growth of Nigeria than Achebe just because he did not take up any position or establish a charity in Nigerias.
Let us use our heads please!
