Psychologist will tell you that from the way Buhari is sitting in the picture, he is not in charge, Just the way he is not in Charge of Nigeria anymore, The Old man is Tired and has become unproductive to the point that he does not know where to sit in a gathering.

The Middle seat belongs to the man who is in charge, It is a safe place, a Place of protection from intruder.

Buhari is too old that you have to Just order him around to attend function and when he choose his seat as an old man No one corrects him so he does not feel stressed

Another Four Years in the hands of this man, Nigeria is damaged good. we should unction it on ebay so that every Nigerian home and abroad can collect their share and forget the country

Abandoning their largest plant in Nigeria and fighting back from Oluyole? P&G that is presently downsizing it's diapers line staff?

When you're ready to engage in a civil and sensible conversation, let me know. I warned you about name calling.
I didn't even have time for this until now.....so I see your retort

1. What is strategically wrong in fighting back from Oluyole? What is wrong in creating market space in less-charted regions and competing from that position to a Global scale? What is wrong in "cutting-fat" in your ops and consolidating to be able to cost-compete? I got tired of your flow cos you're just regurgitating flawed assertion you can hardly articulate.

2. Trust me, I tried to engage in sensible conversations with you.......the problem is not me.... wink

This is absolutely nonsense economically. This is Islamic economic way of development. Private sector infrastructural development is more efficient and transformational. Underdeveloping regions which are economical viable and resource rich, and developing regions which are more or less economical unviable due to religious/tribal affiliations, but with all regions mutually under one GDP is primitive and stupid. Simple normal evolutional economic transformation/industrization/modernisation trajectory can never never be achieved by this sort of misplaced priority. Nigeria evolution under the extremist strong grip of Hausa/fulani and their Yoruba cheerleaders is an evolution towards extinction/endemic poverty. Nigerian system is so warp believe me. The jihadists purposefully drove Nigeria into the position of poverty capital of the world in other to break the Nigerian pride. You know what happens when you break a man's pride?....he withers away uselessly.
You just wasted 7 lines to state incoherent nonsense and advertise your deficient faculties. Let me try to deconstruct your conjectures....albeit for the fun of it

1. What is wrong with "Islamic Economic way of development"? If it made Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Morocco etc... The "Christian Economic way" (Using your weird context) did it bring us a single coach?.Shebi infrastructure will serve the people....... Let me also say that if you've not ridden in a train before, relocate to Abuja for the next two weeks, and you will use it for free

2. Since you aver that your pride is broken, and considering that the summary of your post is to "advertise" that you're a pained IPOD wailer; what is wrong with your state govts? Lagos is actively developing her light-rail, Ogun has signed with the Chinese and Oyo is in active negotiation with the Chinese. Is anyone stopping your governors? even in South-South Amaechi started the Mono-rail, Wike-d cancelled it. Don't you see that some of your problems are village-witch related?

Hayat (makers of Mofix diapers) have a 100M USD factory in that same Agbara and they've pushed P&G to second place with their 300M USD factory. What are they getting right that P&G is not getting right?

P&G has always been in Oluyole Industrial Estate in Ibadan before coming to open the diaper line in Agbara. What is making them run back to Oluyole when their competition is making it in Agbara?

P&G got to Agbara before Hayat but Hayat has managed to corner the larger market share. Why is that so?

Forget name calling as answer the above questions.
There you go again asking needless questions. So what happens to Hayat P&G in the market and P&G is trying to fight back?

Hayat (Makers of Mofix) have a 100Million dollar plant in that same Agbara while P&G's own is 300M dollars. Today, Molfix has 44% and Pampers 37%.

https://nairametrics.com/stiff-competition-shuts-down-pgs-300m-diapers-plant/amp/
Could be the exact reason why P&G opt to relocate. If Lagos hub is saturated and they decide to open up new spaces. A consideration could be the discovery that they are late to the game and may want to change their approach

But Op, are they shutting the diaper production line or the whole companyhuh

But the "correct facts" is polished to play down the real reason. Why leave Agbara that I know to Ibadan? What about agglomeration economies? What about proximity to teeming Lagos Population? Lagos is the transport hub (for distribution).

I once discussed sales with one of my customers and he told me that "pamper" business is a tough one.
What about cost-management, what about proximity to materials? What about proximity to other markets while still maintaining closeness to Lagos?

Thing is, we can postulate, but the business strategy of P&G can only be determined by P&G.

Funny enough most people in Nairaland haven't done any business not to talk of being in manufacturing sector. The policies of government can cripple a firm overnight. The government policy on forex closed my production line. I have to sack my staff and start another thing. Nigeria is the worst place to be a manufacturer, no light, raw materials, waivers etc; yet you are expected to compete with bigger players and sell at affordable price.

They faced some ferocious challenges which may be related to the economic downturn presently facing the country.

I am also certain that the protectionist environment where import substitution rules may truly have affected their ability to source raw materials at competitive prices.

PearlStreet: Since Nigerians are weird and you're a Sudanese, what's making P&G shut down its diaper line within the plant commissioned just a year ago?

Don't relay the crap written in their statement to me, that's an indictment of their actuarial scientists and the lack ofbforesightedness of their management.

Note that they only gave us exit plans of action, they never stated the reason.
That's the real question
Unfortunately "real question" from you both simply shows that you both need to get out of school and learn the real business world. Did your friend mention an indictment on "actuarial scientists" grin grin.... learning can be exciting and I see a quick urge to show it

1. Some of you want to force-down the "shut-down" narrative on this discourse. It will only make you naive. The company has simply said the publication from premium times is false. When I here stuffs liks "a soul in the company" or an unnamed source, I usually exercise restrain because Nigeria media is fast becoming gossip, scare-mongering and fake news

2. As per reason for the shut-down we can play some scenarios. Let's start from a simple business decision. So their planners realizes that numbers and stats projections favour relocation of the plant line to Ibadan - proximity to raw material network, deeper integration into local markets, state tax havens, cost-reduction objectives..... It could be a correction of an hitherto wrong business decision. If they made a mistake, do you expect them to admit it to you in person and look bad in the face of competition?

All of you saying "you don't believe" Olawore LLP statement don't get the bigger picture. This official statement is not to seek "a believable" story...that ship has long sailed in...... The strategy is to absolve the law firm if complicity in the assault in Karimu. After that, Olawore LLP ia done and dusted with him.

Lessons for many young folks who thinks "agidi" can solve issues.....

Who do we believe?

I think Mr Olawore should have obliged Mr Karimu by opening the cheque at the outset. Being obdurate yielded negative outcomes for both parties.

Everyone now knows Mr Karimu may be incompetent and as alleged, may be damn very aggressive and dramatic.

For Mr Olawore, very bad publicity for his firm. A cross section of the public will maintain he treats his members of staff poorly
Best comment I have read in a long time. I. am sure written by a lawyer as well. God bless you.
Deep.

Olawore messed up. He should have severed him properly on the 11th. When you lay off a staff, you don't tell them to wait till month end...... One of Brian Tracy's law comes to mind - "Hire carefully...... Fire quickly". A troublesome staff can only bring calamity to the image/brand of a firm.

For the fact that the video was released it shows that members of staff are sympathetic with Karimu and side with him.

They probably feel Karimu was not fairly treated
Beyond SM sympathy, Karimu may turn out to be the looser here. What a lot of you fail to realize is that Olawore LLP has put out an official statement that absolves them of having any hand in the police brutality. That, they have well explained. The police will reprimand the officers involved....... then what? The police can decide to prosecute Karimu for disturbing public peace...... a situation where he will then realize he's on his own.

Secondly, we should all learn to be deep thinkers and proactively reflect before we act. Karimu better go and start his own law firm........ Cos no firm will want similar SMish drama and besides lawyers in practice cannot trust his level of sanity

Even though I am not a lawyer, I have some questions for you Sir.

Why did you give out a closed post dated cheque? though you claimed "so that at the end of the month there would be a clean break"

How were you able to call someone to get you the police to harass the guy when held hostage in your office?
Bros,

Your questions are bother-line not thought-provoking and answers are not far-fetched.
1. The reason why he gave him a "crossed" (closed) cheque is well explained in the statement. You can opt to get crossed-cheques by default from your bank as a personal or business security measure. That he issued crossed-cheque should have signaled to the recipient that such cheque should be paid into a current account if not opened.
My only exception here with Olawore LLP is that when you laid him off, you should have paid him off immediately and close hia case for good. The "come back at month-end" arrangements is not well thought-through and "unprofessional".

2. Secondly that he called the police is within the limits of the law. If police went beyond their remits is not hia own making.

3. The Karimu guy can also be prosecuted if the police establishes that he indeed held his Boss hostage. There are saner ways to pursue his greviances (and social media is not even one of them). How come he's demanding that a closed cheque be opened when he can simply pay it into hia account? Is it that he's overdrawn his account and this payment was going to wipe out hia deficit? Something doesn't add up here

GEJ did NOT try anything! angry UNILAG was already a brand, with a recognisable identity - both locally and internationally. Changing its' name, would have killed the brand. Moreover, why change its' identity without consulting the stakeholders? shocked It shows how insensitive GEJ was, at that time. There were more than 3 Federal Universities in the South, that had no recognisable identity or brand, whose names could have been changed or used to immortalise Abiola. Instead, GEJ stupidly tried to do a cosmetic name change with UNILAG. And it backfired big time. Silly man. undecided How clueless can a president be?
1. GEJ was grossly uninformed. The laws and statutes of Unilag says that if you want to rename such University after an individual, it must be that that individual has a relationship with the institution. MKO has no relationship whatsoever with Unilag.
2. It is wrong, idiocy and tomfoolery to say it was Tinubu and Fayemi that prevented GEJ from renaming Unilag after MKO. Even the Unilag council, Alumi bodies, ASSU, Student Union and many other interest groups reject the idea.
3. GEJ's action was rejected overwhelmingly because that action, even if accepted would have twisted the essense of June 12. June 12 is a national mandate and not a SW mandate. You cannot just try to compensate SW because of June 12, you rather compensate the whole nation. This is what I believe other tribes don't understand about we SWers, about how we place principles above individuals, how we a primarily collectivist rather than individualistic, how we do not support even our "person" once such goes against principles and values that are altruistic.

Lemme drop this here:

Before you condemn people’s choice of lifestyle

Countless number of times, I have seen people try to portray the likes of Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Aliko Dangote e.t.c as rich people who don’t live a flashy lifestyle just because they don’t wear “Gucci” and all other designers considered as “flashy/classy” being worn by Hushpuppi and all other celebrities. I can’t help but laugh at their ignorance.

Taking the owner of Facebook as an example, they say he “ordinary plain grey T-shirts” despite having a net worth of over 72 billion USD. Have you ever tried checking out how much each of the T-shirt costs? In case you’re not informed, each of them costs around $300-$400 and he has lots and lots and lots of them. There are even rumors he doesn’t wear a T-shirt twice. So you can imagine how wearing $2100-$2800 worth of “ordinary plain grey T-shirts” a week portrays you as being “simple”.

Do you even know he spent $100 million on buying two properties on Kauai Island in 2014 alone? He has several other properties which amounts to millions of dollars. Now is that still a “simple” life? Bill Gates owns a house that costs $123 million and he’s a “simple” man just because he doesn’t wear Gucci?

The fact that people spend money on what they wear doesn’t mean they don’t have investments/businesses. A person buys an iPhone X/Samsung S9 plus and the next thing people say is “He should have bought a land in Ibeju”, “Why didn’t he invest that money on cryptocurrency?”, “Oh, he is living a fake life. He should have invested the money on landed properties”. Do you know if the person in question has built two houses in Ibeju already? Do you know if he has a substantial amount of digital currencies? Do you even know if he doesn’t like the idea of doing business at all?

The point is, we all have different personalities and what entices or makes us happy are distinct from one another. We all have different mentalities. So, if man A decides to spend HIS money on clothing and fashion items, man B might decide to spend HIS on buying cars. Man C might decide to spend it on houses. This doesn’t mean man A is trying to be flashy or man C is a “simple” man. It all depends on what makes you happy.

Everyone is entitled to his/her own kind of lifestyle!
Gosh!

Wrong lane bros! This post of "obanikoroish" post of yours kind of "pollutes" the "Obamaesque" topic...
