Politics › Re: Conclusion Of N4.5bn Onitsha River Port Concession Mired In Controversy by mapet: 3:39pm On Aug 30, 2018
Blue3k:
There are 3 qualified short listed firms according to the article being Oranto Petroluem, Universal Elysium Consortium and Inland Containers Terminals Limited. The MD said they have an Igbo concessionaire in an article I posted a few weeks ago. Unless Universal Elysium Consortium is an Igbo company its going 1. I still believe ICTL will be declared one of the winners considers their success in Kaduna.

While confirming that the Onitsha and Baro River ports have been concessioned through a competitive process, he added that the concessionaire of Onitsha port is of Igbo origin to make the management of the port easy.
docadams: It will surely be two firms from that region or, at least one, just so to avoid unnecessary furore. Again, there lies the danger when two Ibo brothers are allowed to struggle for control of a business. It will us ually be a do or doom affair.
What I find off-putting is Nigerian companies getting themselves into "technical-offside" in bidding process, then resorting to courts for help. It is ridiculous and useless when you do not do your checks well enough and looking for technical loop-holes. ITC just reminds me of how Adenuga was disqualified in the first GSM bidding process, claiming the mandatory deposit was put in a holding account in anticipation of another validation from the bid committee. Now the concession take-off is being delayed and we all suffer for it.

Politics › Re: Peter Obi: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Cried To Governors Not To Share Money, They Did by mapet: 11:41am On Aug 30, 2018
Kulas:
Peter Obi, on Channels TV. Hear him

He debated a professor of economics in University Of Abuja and laid out solid points which earned him admiration and praises all over Nigerian media space. Except you want to be economical with the truth, the Prof. floored Obi on all counts. The Prof was factual, articulated and truthful. Something Obi was not on that session. Obi gave false data and when he was asked for the source of the data, he was beating about the bush

Here are 10 quotes from his debate on channels.

1. “ If a man has not created wealth. He cannot manage wealth “... ...and what makes this gospel? Because Obi said so? Some of you lots just mak/follow baseless assertion. Many Managing Directors of good companies inherited wealth already made and have gone ahead to make much more wealth while managing.

2. “Unemployment is worsening. In 2017 our unemployment ratio moved from 14.8% to 18.8% this year. This means that more people have lost their jobs. We can’t survive like this “. Unfortunately for both you and Peter Obi, this interpretation is wrong and shows your ignorance. The DG of NBS have explained that the unemployment stats, does not mean job losses alone. We have a situation where on the average about 4million people enter labour market on a yearly basis and the industry has no capacity to absorb them all.

3 “You are borrowing money and the issue it was supposed to affect is not coming down. Poverty is increasing , children out of school moved from 10 million to 12 million. “Peter Obi was challenged to name the source of his data on the underlined and he wasn't able to give a credible evidence. He could only mentioned the words of a nameless UBEC official. Is UBEC official the certified repository of credible data?. If Peter Obi had been truthful, the recently released GDP numbers should have told him that transport sector(21.76%) and infrastructure sector (construction 7.66 %, Electricity 7.59%) had tremendous increase in growth. These are the major sectors monies was borrowed for

4. “ I remember Ngozi Okonjo Iweala crying everyday. Begging Us to save this monies for the rainy day. All the Governors disagreed. They said let us share it. Now we are borrowing to feed.” Peter Obi just shows here that he lack principle and will. So let us start with Why doesn't he own up to the fact that he was part of the governor's forum? Why doesn't he own up to the fact that the major reason why the governors clamoured to share the money was that the same Ngozi and GEJ were unilaterally spending money from the SWF without the knowledge and approval of the governors? Let's say the governors took their own 49%, pray tell, where is the 51% Ngozi and GEJ saved?

5 “ All I Know is that Governance has nothing to do with age. Today the Youngest Governor in Nigeria is an Unmitigated disaster”.

6. “ In a State in the North the number of children that sat for WAEC is 128. This state has about 5 million people. This is not acceptable “. Can either you or Peter Obi show tell us which state is this? WAEC publishes the stats on numbers of students registered per state on an annual basis from time immemorial. In the last 5years, there is no state in the country that ever had less than 5000 students registered for WAEC. Where did Peter Obi get his 128 from?

7. “ I don’t have any single property in this country outside Onitsha. If you see any property outside Onitsha and they say it belongs to Mr Peter Obi. Burn it! “

8. “ When you are borrowing for consumption. It gets to a stage when you cannot control it”. Peter Obi the hypocrite! who borrowed for consumption? Is it a government that borrowed for infrastructural development projects or the one that borrowed to pay salaries?

9. “ Nigerians cannot aim for sky scrapers when we cannot maintain simple toilets “

10. “ I cannot pay 250,000 for one night in a hotel. I wouldn’t sleep that night. I will feel like I have been robbed. “ It's high time he stops this hypocritical pious BS

Did Dasuki also influence the government to share the Treasury during the election? Peter Obi is known as an advocate of narratives that favour his personal interest.
I lost virtually all the respect I had for him watching him on Channels yesterday. Peter Obi was just twisting and falsifying narratives to suite his motives and he was found out by Anjuru (Channels' TV co-anchor). Peter Obi made a blatant false submission that this FG's borrowing for consumption..... I was like "Yepa" where did Obi get this from? Obi gave many false stats; he said number Out-of-School Children is 13m+. He said a state in Nigeria had on 27 students who registered and sat for WAEC. He said the economy was not growing according to stats. Then he was challenged to state the source of his stats. He stated "blabering" at first. Then he said something that sounded like "If you want, I can show you later....". Anjuru now gave him the latest GDP figures per sector, gave him the authentic stats on the number of out-of-school children which was taken in 2014 and adopted by the UN. Anjuru further pointed to him that since the HGSFP, the number of out-of-school children had evidently dropped. Then Peter Obi came with a petty argument that "the number dropped because the children are just going to school to eat".

When Anjuru pressed further to challenge him to same the source of his stats.... he now mentioned the words of an UBEC offical in Vanguard newspaper........ I was like, am I watching the real Peter Obi or a subterfuge. For me, the moment you attempt to use or use fraudulent means to try to achieve your goal, you've lost me.

Government can give you approval and still revoke the approval or come up with the 'interfere with the right of way' statement. At that level, you can't do anything. At best, they will compensate you because they gave you the documents in the first place.
Government owns and pays the courts. To have the government against you is a hard thing.Just pray not to be in government bad books.
You are sure? Like Ayefele showed you the "regularized" papers? Even if true, isn't it only logical for Ayefele to head to court with it? Isn't it logical to publish the said "regularized" papers viz-a-viz prior approved plan?

Let's not turn logic on it's head. In my house, I had LG officers visit my house at completion and pasted a stop order on completion work. Listed contravention on span between house and fence on both size. I went to the local government for clarification, low and behold they brought out the pictures of my house on their computer..........the rest is history. My point is you cannot claim ignorance of contravention on a building you have secured govt approval. It does not make sense

That building shouldn’t have been there in the first instance
Many buildings were demolished on that road when the road construction was on
Ayefele should head to court if he thinks he has a case and sue the government
The so called Fan club is at best a concoction of some SM fingers to gear up further sentiments. It stands logic on the head that these folks keep pursing lines of sentiment....at this rate the credibility Ajimobi lost is being won back. In stead of them to show veritable and incontrovertible evidence that they have not contravened any building development plan....they are talking about someone who "dined" with them........ The government report shows that;

1. Ayefele got approval for an office complex.....yet built radio station.
2. That there is not state approval for the radio mast he erected
3. He contravened on the dimension of the building (almost 2x the approved). His building extension encroached on the road....
4. He contravened on set back, built additional structures on set-back walls

Can Ayefele's Fresh FM counter these claims with hard evidence or are we just going to keep going on sentiments......?

You did a terrible job at reporting......whether you admit it or not. Even if your report is limited to CMS b/s......the investigative content is poor. You are reporting "your disappointments" on a project, yet nowhere in your report did you engage any designated spokesperson nor show the details of the project. How does reporting about artisans ostensibly complaining of being owed salaries add any valuable input how the project has progressed? Your topic says "The True State...." yet nothing here communicates any tangible thing beyond splashing of pictures. For example, what happened to the approved World Bank loans? What has been drawn-down and what is yet to be received? How has it accounted for the lag in the project? Why the change of the major investors/Stakeholders from the Chinese to French? What are the technical issues and challenges on the underwater pilling at the outer-marina axis........and many more. This is what communicate "The True State....."

AutoReportNG:
Last week a topic graced the front page of Nairaland forum saying that the Lagos Blue Light Rail in its final phase. One can't but laugh at such assumption as the claims of the author is far from the truth. The Lagos Blue Light Rail was the brainchild of Lagos State Government, it was started during the administration of the former governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, during his era, he tried to make sure that the project sees the light of the day but due to some logistics problems, he can't commission it. The Lagos Blue Light Rail was funded by the World Bank with little input from the state coffers according to our reports.

Going by the analysis on the work done so far, the project was contracted to CCECC Nigeria Limited. The project according to LAMTA is said to start from Mile 2 and run across Okokomaiko, Orile, National Theatre, Iganmu, and then have a final stopover at CMS.

As at March 2018 when AutoReportNG did an exclusive review of the Light Rail from Iganmu to CMS, we reported that the pace of work has been very slow with little or nothing on ground as the workers complained of not been paid and some of the workers laid off. AutoReportNG was at CMS over the weekend and we decided to take a troll towards the site of this project as we can clearly say only little has changed.

The only thing that we can say is different is the laying of the overhead slabs which starts from CMS bus stop towards Apogbon, apart from that, no work or tangible construction as even the pillars that are meant to pass through the lagoon from Eko Bridge, we are disappointed to see that from March 20818 only 3-4 pillars have been erected so far across the sea which leaves one to wonder if this project is nearly completed as wildly reported.

We are unable to get the full pictures and those from the Eko Bridge as we are running out of time but these are ones we are able to gather at the site and also we add some from our previous report as well to make it look robust.

Source:
https://www.autoreportng.com/2018/08/the-true-state-of-lagos-light-rail.html
This is a very unprofessional reportage. I am not impressed with Ambode on this project.....but this reporting is wack. It shows that the OP just took his phone, went and took some pictures albeit with his phone and conjured this watery piece. No technical and project progress detail, no reason for the delay, no reason for why the Festac 3rd-gate to LASU (which is supposed to be the current face, yet had terribly lagged behind) is on a back foot; No reporting about why the financing structure is having problems.......etc just the st.u.p.i.d line that "he's disappointed".

This is a terrible attempt at basic reportage, not to talk of specialized (Infrastructure Projects) reporting
