Abagworo: The problem is simply insecurity of Niger Delta waterways and rejection by Ijaws of the attempted dredging of the river. There reason is that the environmental impact assessment suggested possible dry up of some rivers and overflow of others with negative impact on riverine communities. This is the same thing my "intel" got. |

Blue3k2: Anyone have any guesses when the four river ports will be ready. I'll guess 2019-2020 for Onitsha along with ICD. I doubt world world bank would waste their time. They'll be featured together back to back.
Im not sure how gazetting process works but I would think you gazette port after you get consessionsire to manage it. Its weird port inaugurated 2012 with no consessionsire or no gazzetting done. Anyway I'll email the NSC, NIMAS and FMoT ask why. Maybe they'll have an answer.
Ps: these threads get stupid fast but they're entertaining. this to me is the pertinent question..........so that expectations can be properly managed. |

Started during Jonathan tenure right? Just letting some people know. In fairness, the issue is not who started it or who is yet to complete it. There are several pertinent issues that needs to be resolved before any sane shipping company will do business in Niger-Delta. Security for starters.....................(need I say more). Secondly, our water-ways and dredging challenges. I was in discussion with a NPA top executives. He explained to me that they are geographical challenges we are yet to take care of or compounding our problems at the moment. For example, ships have to meander through ox-bow lakes in some instances. Also that some state governors had built bridges over water channels circumventing approval from NIWA. They would have started construction before approaching NIWA in some cases. Some build bridges with less than the recommended span, hence ships cannot pass underneath. This will in-turn mean another channel has to be taken..........it's a whole load of mess I cannot type here What I would rather the MoT do is to come out stating all these challenges and tell us how many years it would take to fix the mess. We are better off knowing that solution is 10yrs away than all these knee-jerk approach |

When pinnick came in 2014, he started working to put systems in place that will prevent d embarrassment of d past. Previously players used to b paid cash, but now they are paid electronically. Now pinnick has been able to get sponsors to help.d financial burden of NFF. So its not a question of money because, d federal govt in time past has always funded NFF. D argument is d success d NFF is recording in player welfare isn't cause of buhari, its cause of pinnick. So amaju can choose to do well or otherwise. He doesn't answer to anybody in Nigeria Interesting! The FG funds the NFF, yet the NFF is not answerable in anyway to the FG, especially how the monies given is used? |

Adekdammy: which organized manner sir? what happened at the just concluded Olympics as regards the dream team? Oh! Ok! "Blame the Black Guy" HE GENESIS
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) was well aware that the National U-23 was an Olympic Team and the Olympics takes place every four years. They were also aware that a tradition exists where Team Nigeria departs for major international sports competitions together.
It is also a norm that the Federal Government through the Ministry of Sports hand over officially all the contingent from all sports federations that qualified for the Olympics, including NFF to the Nigerian Olympic Committee.
Around early July, about a month to the beginning of the Olympic games, the NFF under Amaju Pinnick informed the sports minister that they will be taking the U-23 Team to Atlanta in the US for Pre-Olympic camping and from there they will proceed to Rio in Brazil.
The Sports Minister Solomon Dalong made it clear that there was no money for the Atlanta trip, and advised them to camp in Nigeria before flying to the Olympic games in Rio. The NFF however stated that they had full sponsorship for the Atlanta camping, and thus they didn’t need any money from the federal government.
THE ILL-FATED ATLANTA TRIP
As at the time the NFF dispatched the under-23 Team to Atlanta, USA, the sports minister was not informed.
Few weeks after their stay in Atlanta there were reports that the Nigerian U-23 was about to be thrown out of their Camp in Atlanta. Meanwhile the media officer of the team who was left behind in Nigeria insisted that the U-23 got an invitation by the city of Atlanta to play in a competition.
Is it not curious to wonder how a team that had full sponsorship to travel to Atlanta, and also allegedly have been invited by the city of Atlanta will get thrown out of the hotel due to unpaid bills?
Few days into the Atlanta stay, the news about the ejection of the under-23 team from their Atlanta hotel spread like wild fire.
Suddenly the supposed sponsors were nowhere to be found and the U-23 team coach Samson Siasia started the outcry about their ejection. However this failed to extract money from the federal government as they wished, but somehow the team managed to survive several weeks in the hotel in Atlanta.
THE MESSY TICKETING SAGA
The consultant to the Ministry of Sports, Angie Taylor was responsible for arranging tickets for Team Nigeria members residing outside the country especially those in the US. She arranged tickets for the D’TIGERS, our National Male Basketball Team who were incidentally in Atlanta also and left for Rio four days before the Olympics opening ceremony.
She also arranged for several other athletes outside US.
However NFF’s U-23 team rejected the ticketing agent provided by the sports ministry stating that they had their own ticketing agent.
The NFF thus insisted that the Sports Ministry gave them the funds to pay their agent for the tickets.
The sports minister, Solomon Dalung requested for the name of their ticketing agent and his account details so that the money will be paid to him. The NFF however refused to give him the agents account details, stating that they wanted the funds instead.
In a bid to avoid a stalemate following the NFF’s insistence to buy their tickets through their ticketing agents the sports ministry approved the release of $174,000 Dollars (About N80 million) through the Nigerian Olympic Committee who remitted the sum to the account of the NFF agent . After the payment was made, in a surprise move, the agent again asked for more money claiming that he would not allow the team to leave for Rio if the team’s hotel bills were not paid.
The Sports Minister then asked the NFF to talk to their agent and allow the team leave for Rio, since the Olympics was starting in two days. He also stated that whatever the bill was he would settle it in the interest of the country. However the agent, Jairo Pashion, a close associate of Coach Samson Siasia insisted that he will not allow the team to leave for the Olympics.
Coach Samson Siasia was then called upon to talk to the agent, but Siasia said ‘it is not my business’. https://flatimes.com/revealed-samson-siasia-nff-yemi-idowu-nigerian-u23-dream-team-olympic-journey/ So when it is done well, it has nothing to do with the govt, but when it is bad it is the govt? It's the semi finals, or nothing! You mean the NFF were also under duress as at Nov 2017? NFF, Eagles sign landmark agreement ahead Russia 2018 .....“The agreement represents the full and final understanding between the NFF and the team for the 2018 FIFAWorld Cup Russia and not subject to review or negotiations, except there is a review by FIFA of what it has approved and published as prize money for the participating countries.
“We have opted for this international best practice in order to fully motivate the team and ensure there are no distractions or discontent before and during the tournament,” Dikko added.
It is the first time in the history of Nigeria’s participation in international championships that a formal agreement between the Federation and the team is documented, and the major actors see this as a catalyst for the Super Eagles’ best performance ever at the FIFA World Cup. It can also be recalled that the NFF ensured there was no distraction over bonuses and allowances for the team during the qualifying campaign, with the Super Eagles easily dominating a so –called ‘Group of Death.’....... https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/nff-super-eagles-sign-world-cup-allowances-bonuses-agreement/ As at January Why NFF are paying 2018 World Cup allowances in March ..Super Eagles players will be getting the 2018 FIFA World Cup allowances in March, more than two months before the tournament kicks off in Russia. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have finalised plans for the 2018 FIFA World Cup including the allowances of the players.
The Super Eagles and the NFF have has several fall-outs in the past over allowances.
During the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the Super Eagles boycotted training over unpaid allowances.
To avoid a repeat of that, it has been confirmed that the NFF will pay 2018 World Cup allowances in March, more than two months before the tournament....http://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/nff-to-pay-super-eagles-2018-world-cup-allowances-in-march-id7827511.html Many of you, your levels of madness is "branded" |

I do not know which culture allows the groom to dictate to brides parents the terms of the marrying their daughter. How can you insist on not wedding in the the bride's parents' church? 3. I do not think he's a serial cheater. I imagine being the son of a Go, and seeing how his parents are worshipped like gods, he imagined all men should treat him like that, including his potential wife and parents-in-law. 4. I imagine he would have been like "wtf? Plenty babes in my father's church dying to marry me, this one dey do yanga" . So his parents got him a wife sharp-sharp. Who wouldn't want to marry into GO's family. Our Catholic wife can go to blazes. What is there in wedding to organize in less than 2months for a Go's family? 5. They guy now got married and realized that great mistake he made, hence took frustration on wife. It has all the trappings of lack of humility, self-aggradisement, and lack of wisdom. He could have married this classic good-family-background Catholic sister. He is probably not a wife beater, but a frustrated soul. But what do I know? |
