The plight of many pensioners in Nigeria pathetic. This fight against corruption in Nigeria might be prolonged if we continue to treat our senior citizens with disdain. I am not in support of unlawful enrichment while in service but it takes high moral standards and fear of God not to indulge in corrupt practices in Nigeria considering the systematic neglect and abandonment of retirees from the public service. |
This is an embarrassment to the nation. The gymnasts could not be funded to continue their representation of the country while the politicians and their retinue of advisers are not bothered. Indeed there was a Country |
Politics without preparation will be pandemonium. Not all who can fund political campaigns can hold public offices. The future that once belonged to the youths has come but let all youths concentrate on their area of strength. |
Prof. Dora Akunyili of blessed memory found herself in a more difficult situation than Mrs Onochie some years ago but she chose the path of honour. No amount of death wish can kill anyone whose time has not come and no amount of lies can keep anyone whose life journey has been completed.Venezuelans knew what Hugo Chavez was going through before he answered his own call. The Argentine president did not hide her health status from her countrymen when she was diagnosed with cancer. It is insulting to say that Nigerians do not deserve to know the health status of their leader. In as much as the president is taken care of by the tax payers for now, not that he cannot take care of himself but that is what the constitution stipulates, the taxpayers will not be asking too much if they demand the health status of their president. The power of life and death is in the hands of God. I wish Mr president a speedy recovery. |
Good tips for those still searching but these rules are not cast in a stone. Some gold diggers out there would like to know the man's financial background before they will decide if there will be a second date. Make sure you know yourself and what you want before you go on a date. Many out there do not know themselves much less what they want in a woman. Above all pray that God will direct your steps in choosing a mate. These tips are helpful but every relationship is unique. |
Success has many friends but failure has no associates. I wish our politicians will be part of the success stories of these youths before they hit stardom. Gov. Lalong hosted him sometime ago and poured accolades on him. I am happy for Efe for the publicity he is enjoying but i would not like the politicians to use him to galvanize their rusty political image and poor performance so far. For those that have performed creditably well, kudos to them; fOr those who use successful youths to show off, we are watching in 3D. |
I disagree with your logic. Those categories of men you mentioned could be any lady's husband. You seem to believe that low income earners are reserved for "frustrated" ladies but i think you are wrong. I have seen pretty young ladies who chose Okada rider as a husband. Do not access a man by what he does today for a living, if he is hardworking, focused and God fearing, he could marry even a beauty queen in her twenties. |
Your points have been noted. If a lady meets all the conditions you listed and his dream man is still not financially ready, will she elope with hi to avoid being single? If our economy improves, more ladies will surely get married |
izzou:If you accept that the young man, Kanu and some of his ideologies has become a rallying point for some people in the southeast, then it is is not out of place for those who share his ideology to rally round him. His agitations may not be popular among the Igbo elites today for fear of political exclusion but after the successful call for SIT AT HOME in the southeast sometime last year, his cell in Kuje prison has hosted many political heavy weights from the southeast. Why are they visiting him now? That young political prisoner in Kuje will determine the political fate of many come 2019. As it is very easy for politicians to change political parties as children change diapers, before 2019 elections, i will like to read from you again about the igbo elites' support for Kanu I am not an apostle of Nigerian balkanization but people with different views should be listened to and not trampled upon. I will like you to look for a video clip of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo's keynote address at the launch of Chuka Offodile's book "WE ARE ALL BIAFRANS". Goodnight Izuchukwu |
izzou:Thank for teaching me how to think. What you know as Biafra today is an ideology for self determination. Your restructuring mantra was the core of the Aburi Accord that Gowon never honored on return to Nigeria. There are regions in this country that believe that restructuring will not work in their favour and can do anything to frustrate every effort in that direction Biafra is a call for reawakening of Igbo consciousness in Nigerian Political permutations. Nobody is angling for war anymore. Do you expect the support of other tribes when you do not even believe in your abilities? |
izzou:With due respect sir, i think you missed the point. A clergyman has a right to express his view on national issues. Martin Luther King Jnr that played a major role in the emancipation of black Americans was a pastor. You are praying for total restructuring while the priest and has taken a bold step to actualize it. My brother, faith without work is dead. You do not love this country more than some of us. Calling that solidarity visit to the court fruitless shows your level of insensitivity. I hope you are not among those who believe that the release of Nnamdi Kanu means the disintegration of Nigeria. |
It is not A BIG DEAL for him to ride a bicycle to inspect projects. He is doing some exercise to keep fit. Anyway, the road shows and tv jingles are gaining momentum in Imo again. I hope the salary arrears have been cleared. |
"It’s about a week this incident took place. It is true that some police men were sent here but the shortfall in logistics is a big challenge. We are afraid to go back to our ancestral home because we know what is happening in Enugu, Delta, Benue and we don’t like shedding blood on our land, it is a taboo for an Efik man to take up arms.” If you do not want to defend your ancestral home because IT IS A TABOO (according to you) FOR AN EFIK MAN TO TAKE UP ARMS, you will soon become extinct from this entity called Nigeria. |
May God bless their union and bless the husband's pocket to sustain what he started. |

I am interested on the impact of the outcome of the meeting on our economy. The president is elected to preside over such meetings. |

Endless litigation with futile expectations ![]() |
There is need for inter-party synergy now to salvage this receding economy. I hope the ruling party will revisit some of their economic policies and reverse some of them if necessary. The supposed gains of sudden implementation of TSA and blanket ban on certain commodities is being overshadowed by the hunger and job losses that characterize our polity now. Let the govt engage the best brains this country can offer to come to our rescue irrespective of party affiliation. States should have medium and long term investment plans to build their IGR instead of the multiple taxation they have embarked upon as an immediate rescue measure. This has strangled the small businesses of their impoverished citizens. I wish them fruitful deliberations. |
It sounds ridiculous when a captured murderer begs for mercy. They committed murder without regard for the law and the consequences of their actions. Let the law take its course. Even though sins are forgiven, no sinner escapes punishment. Do not be afraid to accept the same gift you gave Father John Adeyi. He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword. May God have mercy on your soul. |
It is really pathetic that the security challenge in the North east has got to this level. As God used Deborah to deliver the head of Sisera, may He use her to deliver the Head of Shekau and his cronies. |
This recession is really pushing people to the edge. Crying in a G-Wagon could mean being fatally wounded or losing your humanity entirely. Separate these extremes from the tears of joy of an achiever. |
The Government should accept responsibility of governance. Those who are more interested in what happens behind them do not go far in life. This govt should quit this blame game cos it has not helped in anyway There is a sinking economy to be rescued, a threatened country to be secured and hungry citizens to be fed. You can deceive a woman to marry her but you cannot deceive her to feed or secure her. Propaganda is for electioneering campaign, governance is for reality. |

Africa is saddled with old men who do not want to relinquish power for any reason. Some of them are not conversant with these modern IT gadgets because their brain cannot comprehend their modus operandi. From 70 years and above, there are limitations to ones ability to do somethings considering the level of education and exposure earlier in life. |
@OP. Tell us something more important. Even if he uses Nokia 3310 and his people are happy with his leadership style, that is what matters. Let his PAs and SAs carry the IPADS and IPHONES. He should use the ones he is conversant with. |
It is unfortunate that Labour has lost its voice in Nigeria. Its factionalization has mortgaged the future of Nigerian workers to get fair bargain from govt. Corruption in public service is encouraged when the remuneration of a pubic servant cannot take care of his basic needs. It takes the fear of God to serve Nigeria with honesty considering the state of our economy today. The government should know that the incessant increase in fuel pump price is draining the pocket of Nigerians especially the fixed income earners. Petrol is like the life-wire of Nigerian economy. Most businesses and homes depend on petrol-powered generators for their energy needs. The railway system in Nigeria is non functional so people either drive themselves or use commercial vehicles powered with petrol to transport their goods. It is really unfortunate that Nigerians are subjected to this periodic hardship by pump price increment. Government should think of other ways of generating revenue. The mining sector is almost in coma and the gains made in Agriculture under Dr Akinwunmi as a minister is almost eclipsed by the activities of herdsmen. |

PDP should be repositioned and rebranded to be a credible opposition. Whoever has the ability to do so will be very useful to the party. They stand to also reap from the ruling party soon if they fail to manage their victory well. Afterall there are two types of politicians in Nigeria; THOSE IN THE RULING PARTY AND THOSE WAITING TO DEFECT TO THE RULING PARTY. There are no principles or ideologies mind you. |

Lai is long overdue for replacement if APC wants to make any impact in information management. Lai Mohammed is more of party spokesman than an information minister |
All we need to see are the rescued Chibok Girls. The way and manner of rescue is not of interest anymore. A lot of propaganda and politics have been played with these innocent daughters of Nigeria. |
