Look at the responses of people like phoenixman and Dozman. You'll agree that it is hard not to see why Africa is where it is today. Trofani, in Bayelsa, gets first road via NDDC

FOR the people of Trofani community, Sagbama Local council of Bayelsa State, it was celebration time yesterday as motor vehicles drove into the area through a 17-kilometre Odi-Trofani Road, constructed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

It was the first time a vehicle would enter the area since the community was founded.

Until now, the only means of movement to the community was a rigorous journey by boat or pontoon through the Patani end of the River Niger in Delta State.

On sighting the NDDC vehicles making the maiden trip into their land, the community went agog with shout of "motor bodo, motor bodo," (motor has come, motor has come) renting the air.

Addressing the people, the NDDC Acting Managing Director, Mr. Timi Alaibe, who was inspecting the commission's projects in the state, said braving the environmental challenge and constructing such a road network to the community was not only an indication of how dear the NDDC and the Federal Government hold them, but also a sign that there was hope for Trofani people.

"For the first time in the life of this community, cars are driving in. We have blazed the trail in driving through this road to your community, though work is still in progress", Alaibe said.

While noting that the Olusegun Obasanjo administration had brought a lease of life to the people of the Niger Delta region, he said the NDDC would continue to do what it could to give succour to the people of the oil-rich area.

The Chairman of Trofani Community, Mr. Valentine Warebi Ekiseowei, said he did not believe a vehicle would drive into his community in his lifetime. He expressed appreciation to the NDDC for executing the project.

What is the ICPC's commisioned job? To make a statement every month about how many petitions they are getting? Please fill us in on what their comissioned job is? After 8 years of existence that's the only thing you can think of?
The EFCC has been in existence for half that time and it has helped Nigeria's image on the international stage including several high profile cases, numerous low profile cases, and has instilled an eliment of fear in governing officials that are predisposed to looting.

Can you even be sure that international security agencies know that the ICPC exist? Such is the meaure of their uselessness.

EFCC OR ICPC is not and will not be the problem of Nigeria. OBJ and his overbearing attitude as the lord of the manor is what has given EFCC a bad reputation among some people. OBJ should let the commission be truly be independent.

So why not devote your energy into making the so called "independent" ICPC more pro-active. Must it be the EFCC? The EFCC is not the only body created to fight corruption. Let someone else have a go at corrupt politicians. Let's see how well they do.

You know that theory of yours might be somewhere near true if the EFCC where created to persecute corrupt politicains. That's where I have a problem with people that have the same opinion as you about the EFCC. You make it seem like the EFCC's job is about politics and politicians.
It just so happens, the EFCC was created to fight corruption. How many politicians has the EFCC moved against until recently? It's funny because when the EFCC was roundhouse kicking yahoo boys, fraudulent bank chiefs, western union fraudsters etc people were making noise asking them to go after big fish (Politicians).
Of course they knew, as per their experience with Alarms and Dariye, that once they go after politicians, it is because of ethnicity. Oh wait, my bad, it used to be about ethnicity, then it was about third term. I don't know what excuse they are using now. Perhaps 'vindictiveness' is the new excuse.

Anyways here's a suggestion. If you don't believe in the EFCC, why don't you clamor for the ICPC to be more pro-active. They sit there doing almost nothing leaving the EFCC to do the work and take the criticism. Maybe you should be criticising the ICPC for not doing what they were created to do. Let's see this "professional" outfit go after politicians (if they have the balls) and not have the same criticism and political play that the EFCC is facing.

The reason why the ICPC does not get the attention the EFCC get's is because The ICPC has been quite useless since it's creation. Only with the creation of the EFCC, did we start seeing corruption actively tackled and not just being talked about. And that's not even taking into account the EFCC's record with politicians.

He wants to be president by all means. He appears to view it as his right.

Coming to the ‘widely presented’ reason for Baba’s quarrel with Atiku - the EFCC report on PTDF money, the report did not in anyway mentioned that Atiku embezzled the PTDF money, or use it for personal purpose, rather, it concluded that the vice president used his position to place the said money in an account, which enabled Nigerian investor(s) / business men (from the same tribe as the president), secured money to commence what is now becoming an international business; changing the nation’s investment landscape, offering more opportunity for Nigerians to work, sponsoring our football league to the tune of N600m, paying for a top rated foreign coach for the national team among others. The other conclusion was based on assumption that remains to be ´proved that, Atiku has interest in the said company.

Is this supposed to be in defense of Atiku? If it is, then it's possibly one of the stupidest comments I can remember being made this forum. On the same level as some idiot saying some time ago in the papers that oil flowed underground from the North to the Niger Delta area.
