Crap... This is bad... Really bad. But she should have seen it coming. No smart business person builds their business on other peoples infrastructure particularly when it can be taken down at ANYTIME. She should have moved the blog to her own personal site long time ago. Hope she rebounds from this and in even better form. Thank God she already has a brand. All she has to do now is set up a new self hosted blog -even if Google restores her address- promote the hell out of it and continue to reap the rewards.

Doesn't work for me bro. Sent it shortly after you posted that and voila, they just sent me another caller tunes subscription message. These guys are crazy, I tell ya

My brother, I wonder o. Looks like these companies will do anything just to generate extra revenue. I would think that a forward thinking world-class company would adopt better strategies to generate even more revenue (roll out new products, drop call rates, create irresistible offers). Instead, all they do is try to hoodwink people.

Career / Re: Nigerians And Their Graduate Mentality by markpenk: 1:06pm On Oct 07, 2014
OP has a point. As much as we all don't like the idea of working for pennies as graduates, it's something that most graduates may need to start with. My first advice to any graduate is get a job and forget about the pay for now. It doesn't matter how much they pay. Just start something.

Here's why that makes sense: most employers will pick a guy with 3 years working experience -regardless of his field or industry- over someone who has spent the last 5 years looking for and rejecting job offers because they pay was unsatisfactory. Admittedly, 10k-20k jobs won't do if you live in Lag or anywhere else for that matter.

However, if you get a 40k-50k job, start it. Your first few years aren't meant to make you rich. They're meant to help you find your footing in whatever industry you choose. This is even more important seeing as we don't have the privilege of internships while we're in school (forget anything you did during your IT posting, it doesn't count). You're supposed to use the first few years to learn everything you can on the job -not earn.

The good thing is that with enough experience, knowledge and industry contacts, you will be able to navigate and switch jobs within a year or two of working and more importantly, command even higher pay. In my book, this beats staying at home and waiting for the job of your dreams. Just my 2 cents.

Phones / MTN Is Really Pissing Me Off With Their Incessant Caller Tunes Subscription by markpenk: 12:50pm On Oct 07, 2014
Guys is it just me or is MTN hell-bent on pissing us off with their caller tunes subscription. I get the notice at least 5 times a day. I have called their customer care lines severally about this and they keep saying text "Cancel" to 4100. I have done that at least 4 times today -can't even remember how many times I have done that in the past- and I still get the automatic subscription notice.

I understand that the first month is free and continued service for subsequent months cost 50 naira. My question is must we all use caller tunes? I simply don't care for it. The standard caller tone is good enough for me. In all, I think MTN is just looking for ways to fleece the entire populace again after all, #50 per line multiplied by over 10 million lines equals at least #500m per month (N6 billion per year) in extra revenues for the annoying company.

Someone please tell MTN: some of us simply don't care for your caller tunes. Please stop bugging us with your caller tunes. We don't want it -at least, I don't. Anyone feeling the same way?

Say what you will about Linda, but I admire her simplicity. She's the wealthy one, yet the least "show-offy" in these pics. That's classy. I like classy, simple, but sophisticated chics.

LOL... no one is talking about medications here o. Nairalanders can so misinterpret things. I asked those questions because I want to know what the real issue is. If she makes his meals with lots of garlic/onions and a few other veggies, cuts out his sugar an supplements it with honey, then he shouldn't be able to keep his hands off her. But if she's done all that and he hasnt improved, then.... but like I said I want to hear from her first.
Angeldemivida:

I hope the aphrodisiac you are recommending is food and not drugs. If it is drugs then i will lose all my respect for men who are suggesting to a woman to drug her husband. Nobody should drug another without their consent even if it is medicine for runny stomach. How can you guys tell a woman to drug her husband so that he can be able to expand the walls of her p*ssy in many directions. (backwise/frontwise) WTF-ck!

I'm sorry... we're not all the same dude... you sniffing the glue again? Weren't you told that glue ain't good for your health. Don't assume anything at all. So, you read all the other questions and jumped to the last sentence. Your comprehension must be really lacking. Get your head outta the gutter, dude. Someone's marriage is about to implode and all you're doing is joking about it.

hairspray... I can understand your predicament. Truth is it is extremely difficult to endure and forbear with your hubby if he's not doing his "job" properly. So, I won't do what most nairalanders are doing right now: judge you. Instead, I need to ask you a few questions:

1. How old is your husband and how long have you guys been married? I don't need specifics. Just age range is good enough for me.
2. Have you spoken to his pastor/priest about this? If you say he hasn't been doing his duty because of his religiosity, then you should talk to your pastor about this.
3. Does he have any health issues?
4. What was his intimacy.u.a.l appetite like before you both got married?
5. Have you been taking care of yourself? If you've gained weight, you need to lose it very fast. I'm single and young, but I've seen some married women with kids that I've completely admired. Just had to get my mind off them because "thou shalt not covet thy 'neighbor's' wife".
6. Have you tried putting some aphrodisiac in his meals? Might sound weird, but he's your husband and this beats cheating anytime.
7. Did you ever make him feel inadequate intimacy.u.a.l.l.y? Please think real hard about this.

I ask these questions because I'm going somewhere. if you could please indulge me, let's see what we can do to help remedy the situation. Cheers.

Health / US Doctor With Ebola Arrives In Atlanta by markpenk: 5:38pm On Aug 02, 2014
NEW YORK (AP) — An Air Force spokesman says a patient infected with Ebola in Africa has arrived at a military air base outside Atlanta and is being brought to a hospital in the city.

Dobbins Air Reserve Base spokesman Lt. Col. James Wilson says the first of two Americans who worked for missionary groups arrived on a flight that landed Saturday.

Samaritan's Purse missionary group tells The Associated Press that Dr. Kent Brantly was on the plane.

He worked at a hospital in Liberia that treats Ebola patients.

He and another aid worker will be treated at a special isolation unit at Emory University Hospital.

A private jet is being used that is outfitted with a special, portable tent designed to transport patients with highly infectious diseases.

N.B: If only naija could do this same thing. We could learn a lot from the americans.

Adorayble: The actor who was in Monrovia, Liberia for business, left the country a few hours ago following reports of the virus spreading in the country. He shared a pic of himself at the airport saying though his business is unfinished, he was leaving because he's scared. Who can blame him?

My concern now is... Jim Iyke shud be screened very well @ d airport, forget d fact dt he's a celeb...

Bro... let us work and become producers. The only thing we produce in this country is .... NOTHING! I've heard we have a service based economy. I don't see it. We haven't earned these public holidays. We need to work hard until we attain some sort of significance. na person wey don work make sense suppose dey chill dey flex. Just my 2 cents.
AdeniyiA:
u wan work die? when holidays were not declared, what did we did etc our working days? The bottom line is, we don't have visionary leaders that can propel the needed change
Islam for Muslims / Re: 28th & 29th July: Eidel Fitri Public Holidays by markpenk: 8:41pm On Jul 23, 2014
I wonder why we need all these public holidays. We're a poor country with intellectually impoverished leaders. Yet we're going on holidays all the time when we should be working our a*s*s*e*s off to become a significant country that matters in the scheme of things. The BRICS nations met a few days ago to set up a bank that'll effectively compete with the IMF and World Bank. South Africa was one of those nations. Are we not in the same Africa? Only the wealthy nations should be able afford the luxury of rest and holiday. They've earned it. Not the poor, impoverished country with a doubtful future called Nigeria. I shake my head in pity for this country!

Just got mine today. The phone is real smooth and solid. Excellent response, fast, sleek and a real beaut. So far, the only downside appears to be the battery. Drains pretty fast. Charged mine for about 2hrs after I unboxed it until it said it was 100% (maybe I didn't charge it for long enough?). This was just 2-3 hours ago. It's currently at about 65%. Although in all fairness, I'vebeen surfing the net, installing apps and even played a few games. So... You may want to consider that too. Oh... The camera is pretty good even in low light. Overall, I think the phone is worth every penny and is practically a steal at its price.

UPDATE (4th January)

So, i've been using the phone for almost 2 weeks now. The battery is pretty decent. Overall, a good phone. Worth every penny. If you are looking for an affordable sleek, high performance phone, this is the phone to get.
